X-Dream - Irritant

Although I enjoy to see so much euphoria concerning the new X-Dream, I would

like to talk about the other side of this album. Actually when I first

listened to this album, I did not like it at all. I own all the former X-Dream

albums, and expected something more harmonic. Do not get me wrong on this one,

there are interesting and powerful parts in the first 5 tracks, but the rest

is something that only causes stress in my head, it's more like some acid

techno taken to the extreme. Definitely you should give this album a try, but

if you are a big fan of the old X-Dream and didn't like the last Delta that

much be aware you might be dissapointed. Listen first and deceide if it's your

cup of tea afterwards. I won't buy it, but I will respect it :-] Only 6/10

(because I am a disappointed oldschool fanatic)

Review:

Wow! Extremly powerful album. Like a mix of The Delta and

X-Dream - Radio. Just slightly minimal. Strong beats all the time.

Wicked synths and those pauses are just awesome. The last two tracks

are more groovy and experimentel. Anyway...I just think everyone should

get this, if you want a 'heavy' album. I can't wait to play it LOUD :-)

I think Tharorazin is the best track here. WOWOWOWWOWOWWWAAAA!

Final Verdict: 8/10

Some months ago wheen I heard there was going to be released a new x-dream I

thought it would be disepointing but lucky me I was way wrong. Very good

album!

Not as psychadelic as old x-dream albums but not as minimalistic as Delta

either. Very nice synthlines and a nice pounding beat. Still has some of that

complexity that we are used to with x-dream. I think its a very good blend

between psy and minimalistic.

And since its x-dream it sure is a 'must have' as always with them :)

This album could actually have been released as a "Delta" album, cuz that is

what it sounds like, from beginning to the end, no exception. If you expect

X-Dream stuff as on previous albums and don't like the Delta much, save your

money.

this album in my opinion is hard, cutting edge stuff...sounds like x-dream

'developed' rather than takin a different approach. it is imossible to make

another radio album. where would we be if artisits continued with a sound that

has already been tried and tested? nowhere. This album is good. nuff said

X-Dream, mmmm! It was clear to me before I heard this CD, that this album

would be leaning more towards the Tech-Trance side of things. The album on a

whole, has some very dark gothic overtones. Esp songs like, 3,5,6 and 7. You

can hear that Marcus (Delta), is throwing in a lot of his influences over the

past few years. But as said above, it is not entirely Delta influenced, but

has that X-Dream layer magic here and there. It's not full on, and definately

not morning tunes, these should be dropped before the sun rises. May be too

dark, and too minimal for some, but if you dig your Authentik, Spirallianz,

3.Turn, Delta, this will be right up your back path.

So from me a nice 8/10, but I would appreciate some more trippy moments in the

music.

BOM and PLUR to everyone and thing.

Madmen in warzones will hook up huge speakers on their tanks and use the sound

of "Peters Hoover" instead of grenades ;-) Rough and Rush... What have you

done ;-)

Excellent blend between -Radio-(the 1998 pater familias of minimal) and -Send

in...-. Its a tech-trance hybrid but way more accesible and melodic than the

average underground minimal release. That -Universal Chaos- has some

hitpotential, sounding not that much more street credible than for example

fellow Germans U-96 and that -Rewind- sounds just like -Psychomachine- is

forgivable. This is an adequate release which surely doesn't disappoint but

also heavily exposes the business-as-usual tag. People expecting the next step

in psy-evolution therefore better stick to the Digital Structures label. 8/10

Nevertheless...
