Review:

Pretty Good album ... A mix between Israeli psytrance (Guy Sebbag was a member

of Aban Don, with Avi Nissim from Astral Projection, in 1994) and melodies

style like old Total Eclipse stuff on some Tracks (like end of Tracks 4&5) ...

The problem is that, even if there's only one Bad Track (Track 8), melodies

are not very original ... My favourites are Tracks 2&5 ! Rating : 6/10

Well, one think I have to add..

The melodies are very original... Actually they are one of the origines of what

you call today psychedelic trance or goa trance. This album is 6 years old,

that is the beginning of what is done today. So I would call today's melodies

that are similar to these - not original.. see?

Not original? I go with Yuli here- this is as original as it gets. Guy Sebbag

is one of the trance pioneers, and this CD was one of the first "proper"

trance albums. It's impossible for me to judge it out of context, and the

context is my first trance parties. A great CD that can teach us about spirit

in music (which seems an almost lost concept these days).

If I were to select my all-time favourite goa album, this would be it. And the

weird thing this is the first goa album I've ever heard in my entire life.

Thanks to this, I'm a goa (and generally - trance :) freak :). The album

represents exactly what I feel goa should be like. Not much drums and

percussion, they're there, but they're not the loudest thing heard, they

constitute a rhythmical background. The most important thing is analog melody

lines, which complement eachother, talk to one another. Amazing, simply

amazing, I love this album and I think that everyone who likes goa should have

it.

"Like so many things it's not what is outside, but what is inside that counts."

Is that your way of telling me not to judge your album art too harshly? Don't worry I won't. Most of the the time the above sample rings true and is a maxim to live by. There are some exceptions however...

"So...you want to be the face of our company? *Strokes chin and thinks intently* That could work. As a plastic surgeon I'm constantly on the lookout for before models."

This is an album that is almost 20 years old, but that's the cool thing about classics...age ain't nothin but a number. To put it in perspective, this came out when people (me) were still rockin flannel as high fashion. This album is not lush layers of melody or bruising power, but just twirling potential set on repeat. Smooth and mellow trance with a goa sound palette. The melodies used here created a jumping off point for a lot of later artists. You might call it simplistic especially compared to the complexity in goa production today where every release attempts to out epic each other. While not the first, second, or third disc I would reach for it does have its charm.

I stumbled on Kashmir on youtube and holy shit what you can do with such a simple approach. The track is not filled with unnecessary layers, and the layers that do exist and come in and out complement each others perfectly. Every climax drives the melodies forward with precision. Hypnotic goodness. Perfect buildups. Love it.

I agree with T2MU, the album probably paved the way for a lot of goa that came after it. It sounds old, rightly so, but the musical qualities are timeless.

The beauty of simplicty! And the enduring  quality of pure melodies. This album has a lot of nostalgic feelings and that unmistakably characteristic vibe, only found in early Israeli Goa Trance. This album, and a lot of Mystica's and Powersource's music, makes for a really pleasant listening experience. Airy lightweight layers of sun-blessed melodies, sometimes contrasted with a foreboding mystical undertone. In that sense it also shares similarities with MFG. Just take a listen to Over Seas, it has both divine angelic pads, as well as a general aura of unease evoking a sense of mystical experiences.

I think that a hallmark of any great artist, be it within music or the visual arts, is the balancing between light and dark. It's imperative for any painting or track that wishes to convey feelings, that the equilibrium of those is fine-tuned. I sometimes wonder why this album isn't mentioned more often alongside the other giants of the era from Israel. Could it be perhaps because of the difficulty to memorize two artist names and surnames at once, and the rather simplistic artwork? Imagine if this album had the type of artwork that Astral Projection's albums had, and a short/memorable project/group name instead of their real names. I think it would have been a more clever choice from a marketing/advertising perspective. That this album has had zero comments between 2002 and 2014, and only three comments in total since 2014, speaks volumes to it's underappreciated status I think. A highly recommended album for anyone who enjoys, California Sunshine, Mystica, Powersource and MFG, among others.
