Digital Emission is an essential piece of plastic for anyone who loves psyprogressive sounds. It starts with the slow penetrating Massive by Son Kite- thick atmosphere, touching moving mellow sounds and beautiful music. A very powerful opener. Vibrasphere letting us know about their new album due in DS very soon, continue the mellow atmosphere with the nice melodic sounds of Newport (T2). Wait till you hear the Son Kite remix... Then things get thicker with a new name- Tarek Mansur, who delivers a good tight dancefloor piece, but it doesn't hold me at home- not enough happening. Etnoscope continue with their own tightness, and Drumsession (T4) is all I dreamt of when I first heard their tunes. Massive non-stop psychedelic tribalistic dancefloor percussion and drumming mayhem. Can't wait dance to it and play it. Wizzy Noise with a nice tech-trance tune (T5), but heard people doing it much better. Ticon soften things up again. Mr. Leatherman is a typical Ticon tune, really nice, but maybe too typical? Force Five pops up the big question- is Atmos back finally? I think my answer is yes. This is far from Headcleaner in feel, true, but it's a killer hard penetrating tune with a deep powerful penetrating feel to it and an engulfing atmosphere. I'm waiting for more. Shaman ends the CD with the soft repetitive chilled Interchill. Nice, but I prefer his more powerful ones. Bottom Line: An excellent progressive release, with the usual good DS material, and some shining diamonds. Favorites: 1(!), 2, 4, 7(!) Guest Tomvcarter Posted December 15, 2002 Share Posted December 15, 2002 Agree totally with Shahar, but i think the Ticon tune deserved more credit, i think it is there best tune yet, it had a very slik and sophisticated feel to it, as does the whole album. Etnoscope rock hear and still continue to produce very good prog trance, yet to be dissapointed, best new artist in the scene in my opinion. The only weak point is the Wizzy Noise tune, as was there recent album. Best tunes 1,2,4,6,7 & (8). A very good album as always from DS. I have never heard such a Ticon song... truly shocking... (in a bad way) They must have been taking drugs on this one... Son Kite and Vibrasphere are MASSIVE though... hooray for Vibrasphere!!! Guest Acidhive Posted December 26, 2002 Share Posted December 26, 2002 The new compil from DS is here, and in a big way! Starts off great immediately with the great new son kite song: Massive. And indeed it lives up to it's name. After that it's off to melodic world with the new Vibrapshere, this tune is among the most melodic they ever did so far, and I'm happy to conclude I find it great stuff!! :-) Next is Tarek Mansur, which is a new artist and he sounds a lot like Son Kite did in their earlier days. Pretty good stuff and percussion driven it certainly is. Then we're off to another new artist, Etnoscope. Drumsession lives up to it's name with a lot of percussion but a pretty little melody also. Good stuff. Next up Wizzy Noise's newest, and what a stormer this is. Really great stuff, the dark atmosphere, the kicking bassdrum, the wonderful loops. This is one killer of a track! Next is Ticon, and well, this is one of their best tracks to date IMO. I also own their album and a lot of singles from them, and this is a track I find really absorbing to listen to. It even reminds me a bit of old Atmos work. So how's that huh? ;-) Atmos himself is next up and delivers quite good. In the beginning of the track you don't think it's going to be special, but around the 2 minute mark you get this gradual build-up and suddenly a lot of old Atmos memories come back..! Well done Atmos! Shaman rounds things off with Interchill, a more laid back track with a repeating voice sample. Most of the time I find this highly irritating, but in this song it just sounds allright. Overall, 9/10 for this comp. simply because it bestows so much goodness on your ears. Son Kite and Vibrasphere deliver us real masterpieces . The build up in the Son Kite track is just ... , well guess ... but the rest of the compilation does not satisfy me at all ... only Etnoscope is interesting . The Ticon and Atmos tracks are a bit confusing , not realy their usual style and not their best too .. as a DS addict my rating is just 6.5/10 including coverart ... they've done much better . BUT thE Atmos track is pretty good , maybe more for the dancefloor cause the Balicki vibes are more for home listening imo .. ah well , we're just spoiled ... SkeletonMan Posted May 12, 2006 Share Posted May 12, 2006 Just having reheard, intense, and reviewed a 2004 full-on psytrance compilation (All Systems Go, Exposure Productions), it's amazing how well and up to date this 2002 progressive trance release comes across Even the weeniest song has something to say here. Dark, tranqualizing, intense, early Digital Structures kept a mean bass, tribal influences, and a sinister approach tight as a fuck up a squirrel's ass. Why make it more complicated than it has to be?! That's the beauty of progressive psytrance over full-on. The simplicity makes it last so much longer. But off course, the real problems doesn't start here until Wizzy Noise comes on with Prototype. An 8:31 minute long starrider when Ticon and Mr. Leatherman takes over.
