Review:

After releasing the Chrome on Solstice for Japan this edition came for us in

the western countries...it has 5 new tracks and those are the best tracks

etnica has made since Small Doses and Equator. The style is still dark but

somehow Full On and sometimes melodic at the same time..

Now the tracks. Remember the track Nervous from Nerve (MOS)..Well the first

track is a etnica remix of it. Very Good bassline, noises coming from

everywhere, somehow uplifting still minimal..difficult to explain..Track 2

is the second best track on the album...Starts minimal, converting slowly to

Full on..the last two minutes are AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHH...Music stops,

silence appearing, you stop dancing for some seconds and then suddenly when

you can't understand what's happening comes THEEE ETNICA-MELODY from 1996

and blows you away like a bomb. I was in Arvika when I heard this and people

were moving away from me cause i was screaming like a maniac...I think the

CD is worth for this track and The Dervish track only. Going on to Track 3,

VCO. Nice melodic bassline, good twisting noises fading away and coming

back..after some minutes come a melody..When 3 minutes remains from the

track it exploads to Full On. Very nice melodie but not as good as

Detonator...Track 4 is the best track on the CD..a very old-school bassline.

It could have been on Alien Protein if they changed the sound. Something

that coming up every 15 seconds is a Snare/Clap with lots of Delay which I

love..it fits so good with the track..The track builds and build..303-lines

coming in, sounds everywhere, scary atmosphere and that delayed clap..the

track just builds untill it ends. Simply awesome and i forgot to say its

orinally made from Dino Psaras. Track 5 is an ok track. I used to like it

more, but when i heard the other tracks i thought it just an average track.

Track 6 is a stomper. The best track on the Solstice edition. Great

basslines then makes you jump like Michael Jordan..the samples reminds me of

Pleiadians - Family Of Light. Simply great track nothing more to add...Track

7 like a Diamond is the last new track on the western edition..starts with

some cool samples..A heavy kick enters, then comes the new

"etnicabassline".. some sounds entering but to bad there are not more

sounds..track 8. Solaris... This one is good to start a DJ-Set or to start

etnicas live set (and so they did)..i love the tennisballkick and the

galloping bassline...simply a pleasure for the ear...and last not least

Tractor Activity. I really like the rythm section in that track and the

twisting bassline..good Floor-Filla :)

I can easy say that this one crushes the Solstice Edition. The track they

have added are awesome..Go Etnica Go!!More Stuff like this. Buy it!

Well I have to start be sayint that Crome is the perfect name for this CD

becuase it is very polished.

Once again Etnica have taken me by suprise. they have made a album that is

somehow Etnica yet something very new. Several of the songs are seem to be

progressive peeked with melodic madness. Which is to me anyway very

Psychedelic. 10/10 Another masterpeice

Very psychedelic, tilting more towards the ultra-full-on/GMS/3D

Vision/it's-still-1999-again end of town. Still, there are some winners on

this disc. I could do without the same samples as Wizzy Noise, Talamasca etc.

I mean, there have been what, a million movies ever made - why do we have to

keep sampling the same ones? At least there's no Matrix samples. And at

least 'Like a Diamond' includes some new samples - about, you guessed it, a

UFO sighting. It doesn't introduce anything new but it is competent and has

some truly lethal hooks. 7/10 from me - I'm still waiting for a whole

Elektrodub album from these guys.

After an absolutly awfull, and I do mean awfull Nitrox album, it's nice to see

etnica sort of on the right track again. Less Minimal than the last time,

packed with different elements, and yes - this time they also gives us back

the melodies. Not like in the good ol' days, offcourse, but alot better than

nitrox, annyways. I enjoy this a whole lot more than just the bassdrum with a

few sounds here and there that they gave us lanst time! Bom! 6,5/10

Again nothing special from Etnica...More layers and ideas than in NITROX but

still way too minimal and steady for Etnica basic style and

recognition...Sounds more like everything minimal these days..There are 3

interesting songs : DERVISH, LIQUID FORMS, ARE WE SAFE ?...but the rest is

just average...6/10

well i think that this album is a masterpiece.

Masterp...?  I think you spelled sleep aid wrong.

Considering this was made in 2002 near the height of boring minimal trance take it for what it's worth.  Holding up well is not its strong suit.  It's very minimal and treats melodies like I do a drooling man on the subway.  I liked their samples and the sneaky quality of some of the sounds that would emanate from the background.  Dervish, Liquid Forms and Are We Safe seems to be the most aggressive tracks here, but the last three tracks sound like they took a nap, but didn't turn off the sequencer.

There ain't a whole lot to chew on.
