Review:

The third compilation from TTR, compiled by the lovely Stella Nutella. I find

this CD nicely balanced, and nutritious. The cd starts off nice and slowly,

but quickly changes into a full on assault. Cameleon, which consists of half

Bamboo Forest, bring us a very tightly arranged track, and would go down well

at sunrise. Quixotic is Mark Allen and Tim Healy and this songs a cracker.

Don't usually dig too much stuff from these two, but this song redeems it all.

The sounds of flies merging into voices really trips me out. Nice and funky,

as most Allen and Healy tracks. Good playful track. Interesting percussion

and a yearning guitar. Aphid Moon start with a darker tone, but when the

bassline kicks in you know you like it. A bit more progressive than the rest,

but still enough psy to keep me happy. This track has a good tribal feel to

it. The bassline funks up, and joins good melody on the way. Again another

brilliant track. Triptych progresses the album more, but keeps the tribal

feeling, with a stomper. This track is definately designed for dust kicking.

Jam session deluxe!! Tortured Brain v Sterilizer, is good and funky. A bit of

the Psaras new clubby streak shining through, but pulls it

off.....just....Hyper Frequencies brings us back from clubland and lands us,

well not in the jungle, but somewhere out there anyway. Very hypnotic bass

with reocgnisable samples spread about evenly. Pounding and hard full on.

Etnica's live rmx of Liquid Forms, brings us back to a more stable progessive

stage. This mix is good, maybe even better'n the orginal. Tristan joins Jon

Om, in an interesting fusion. It starts off very flat, but slowly occupies

all free space. I prefer Tristan's releases on Twisted, but it's still good.

To level it off, Ticon introduce another hilariously titled track, and bring

back the tribalness that was lost with Tortured Brain and Sterilizer. Very

open spacey track at the same time, and a good way to end of a really good

compilation. 8/10 Bom!

Did somebody say Nutella?

Geez, what happened to the portions? Compiled by the apparently lovely Stella Nutella this compilation is now thirteen years old and right smack dab in the middle of puberty and thinking his parents are tools. It shows its age with the straight forward almost minimal style. There is nothing earth shattering to be found here although I did enjoy the acidic chunkiness of Etnica's remix of Liquid Forms. Still, unless you're the parents of some of the performers on this compilation there really isn't a need to try and hunt this down.

Now if it comes with that jar of Nutella then that's a game changer.
