Review:

Before hearing this album I still had no idea what the words 'trance' or

'Goa' meant... A friend told me this was Goa trance, and upon hearing the

song 'La Chevauchée Fantastique', all was clear in my head... Nuclear Ramjet

is a Montreal trio (Nivoc, Flash and Æon), and this is their first album.

The opener is very dark, with loads of neat psychedelic effects (most

notably flanged noises). Second track is an excellent epic, more melodic,

and still on the dark side (a remix exists and it is a killer!). The very

spacey and melodic track 3 has become a classic in the Montreal psychedelic

scene. It is the best song on the album. It also appeared on a "Full On"

compilation. Tracks 4 and 5 are definitely more relaxed, on the minimal

side. Track 6 is a beautiful, but still dark (!!) take on morning trance.

The last track is a lot harder than the rest, and more psychedelic. Overall,

this is excellent minimal psy-trance, well worth seeking out. Nuclear Ramjet

are releasing a new album in the fall. My rating: 8/10

i love this CD :) its all good stuff, esp track 6, i couldnt stop listening

to that one... definately morning trance, nice and melodic and all good, and

complex!! not the usual dark pumping simple stuff i've heard way too much of

lately

9/10

This CD is PURE BULLSHIT. Minimalist techno with cheesy sounds. A really

disapointing debut from this canadian techno band. Anyway, they don't do

anymore "trance" music, they're into hard techno...Track 2 is the best on this

CD..."minas morgul" anyway 2/10 for this effort

I agree with JS. This CD is a big deception (by the way, 'Minas Morgul' is the

only *decent* track). Well, just listen to it while playing Quake 2, nothing

else to do with that crap. I'm not proud of what's happening here in our local

scene. Aeon is better with his solo project, trust me.

If you liked Juno Reactor's

"Transmissions", you'll like this.

Both have that spacey, kinda

technoish sound. But don't be

fooled; although minimalistic, the

full-on Goa melodies are still

there (as with Juno). Plus the

grooves are reallly tight on this

one. Good stuff, 7.5/10.

This album, in places, qualifies as Psy-Trance but what it does qualify fully

as is a worthwhile purchase. It is minimal at times but it never fails to

induce motor activity and a powerful rush of endorphines. If you like trance

music, you'll enjoy this. La Chevauchée Fantastique should be second to

Canadians' hearts only to O Canada!. 8/10

Hi all ; )

Reading the few reviews above I don't really get it ... ok these reviews are old and different people=different taste, but still i'm sure if X-dream made this album everyone would write it's a masterpiece.

And calling it tech trance? Ok maybe track 5 is techno but the rest is just trance.

To be honest i think tracks 5 and 7 may be a little bit boring, but all the rest is really fine! Tracks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6.

Especially track 2 "minas morgul", there is something about this track, very progressive, entrancing, hypnotic... OK it sounds a bit old but i really recommend this underground album ...

7.5/10, really good work =)
