Dynamo is a side project of Eskimo and another dude. Now I know that not many people think highly of full-on in general and Eskimo in particular but as far as I'm concerned the dude is one of the better producers in today's scene. So on to the tracks:

Here they come starts out with a pretty funny sample "Are you crazy? The place is crawling with aliens it would be suicide for her to go back there!". Which kindof reminds me of this time when I was on acid at a party hehe Anyway, the track itself has some very nice melodies in it as well as a sample from the godmother of early electronic music Anne Clark (which most of you probably don't know...) but anyway it's nice to have young producers pay respect to the elders :)

Then comes In the Igloo which is funny cause it sounds like... someone who's been living in an igloo for a few years and still thinks oldschool is trendy lol I mean it's full-on but uses a lot of oldschoolish melodies so needless to say it's my fave track on this album ;)

Wildstyle and Dyn-E-Motion are a bit more "conventional" full-on, not very interesting.

Into the Magic comes with some very uplifting melodies bordering at times with eurotrance... sometimes I like it, sometimes I find it a big to sugary.

Maniac Psycho is again a pretty conventional track. Nothing much to make it stand apart from most full-on tracks.

Then comes Spun Dry which is VERY fast. It almost sounds like the DJ forgot the pitch on +7% ;) Still it sounds nice, one of the better tracks on this album.

The Acid Daze pays a little tribute to some oldschool classics. It starts off with the main melody from Transwave - Land of Freedom , then continues as full-on and then in the final climax around 7:00 there is a sample of the main melody from none other than THEEE classic Astral Projection - People Can Fly !!! Not only that but if you pay attention to the track you will also notice some other classics like MWNN - Teleport and 1200 Mics - Ayahuasca . I bet there are even more references I can't make out... Now if this was presented as a remix then I would've considered it a shame. BUT in this case it's more like Eskimo paying a tribute to the tracks than an actual remix. It's like you listen to it on the dancefloor and recognize the classics and think "man, those were the days" :) So I'm not angry, I'm actually pleased with the end effect :)

Say You Love Me is as you can expect a lot on the sugary side. But still it's pretty nice IMO.

Conclusion one of the better full-on albums of 2005. Not THE album to have but a nice addition to your collection. And I really like the way the artists remind you of some classics (Anne Clark, Transwave, AP, MWNN...). 8/10

faves: 1, 2(!!), 7, 8 (!)

After just a few years of full-on, 2005 appeared to be the tipping point.

Full-on gets sh*t on a lot and rightly so. The genre has earned it with it's repetitive cut and paste style and cliche's. Think of a whirlpool where creativity goes to die. Dynamic, Perplex, DNA,...f*ck me the list of artists producing ass tacular releases is endless. But every once in a while a release comes along that is refreshing. 2005 saw us right smack dab in the middle of some sorry sh*t. Instead of saturating our lungs with oxygen we were forced to breathe stupid samples, inane build ups, and cheese that clogs arteries.

That's why the team up (expected) of Eskimo and Dynamic was so unexpectedly...good. Sure the disc has samples that make you cringe (Wildstyle) and there are stops and starts that kill momentum. But there is also some pretty solid groove and melodies to be found here. Even tracks I didn't want to like had a sou con of goa that made them palatable (In The Igloo). Some tracks began with an eye roll and then developed into something likeable (Maniac Psycho, Say You Love Me). It's almost as if one artist began poorly and the then the other picked up the slack. I can't say (Dynamic) which artist was probably responsible (Dynamic) for the derivative crap that helped form the death vortex of full-on (Dynamic), but I have my suspicions. And I absolutely loved the creative borrow of the Astral Projection and Transwave melody in The Acid Daze. Lemmiwinks spotted the other classics they used so points to that guy.

Bottom line this is a good full on album. It's melodic as hell without too much cheese and will get the feet tapping. Guilty pleasure? Maybe, but I'm not so proud that I care that I like listening to this.
