Dajek Posted January 13, 2006 Share Posted January 13, 2006 I started making electronic music in 1998, making über shitty tracks with a program called Sound Club. (The stuff was crap, because I was only 11 years old). Actually the progress hasn't been too good taking into consideration that it has been 9!! years... But I have actually never stopped since then, I just don't make music very actively. And I still don't have any 'serious' programs that I coudl use, so I'm stuck at Jeskola Buzz currently.... Since the program isn't too good, the quality sucks and I have no chance to get my stuff released currently.. But I keep trying. I should get a new computer soon that can run Cubase normally, so I'll start learning it. As for DJing.... Well, I have learned playing stuff, but I'm not good and I don't know any organisers, so I have only officially played 2 times. The first time wasn't actualyl official, but it was a bigger party so I even got payd. The other time I had to replace a friend who couldn't play himself at some Reggea bar... It was Bob Marley's birthday and I played back to back with some other friend. I mainly played psydub like Ott, Dub Trees, Posford's dub stuff etc... so it was quite unfitting Maybe if I can polish my djskills a bit and finish school finally, I'll contact the few psy organisers in Estonia and try to play somewhere. Philter Posted January 13, 2006 Share Posted January 13, 2006 how did it all start? as a small kid i used to build drummkits out of pots, pans and whatever made noise when you bang it.. so when i was about 9 or so my whole family chipt together to buy me a small drummkit...dont get me wrong i never reached pro level because i soon had to stop playing when my family moved from northen germany to london, as you can imagine playing drums in a flat gets your neighbours to freak.. havig also always had a passion for electronics and while my peers were fascinated by flashin lights, i build oscilators, generators, woblers etc... my first encounter with computers and music was on the 48k spectrum. a friend of mine had an extention board which could be used as a sampler...i instantly got hooked... later i bought an atari 512, there was also an extention board which could be used as a sampler, and the first sequencing software called pro 24 by steinberg. not really having much cash, i started buying cheap equipment, mostly crapy yamaha products...at one point i had an akai s700 (which i still have today), yamahy tx81z, roland tr 505, and a couple of other yamaha modules too crappy to mention. i also started to build my own effects processors (out of books) such as phasers, bucket brige delays etc... after finishing school i started as a tape-op, then became an engineer and worked as such for a while....when the last studio i worked for closed down in 98 and not finding another one that would employ me, i decided to move back to germany in 99.... back in germany i went back to school, then university to study popular music (left after 4 semesters) bookings are coming in but its all so slow, could do with some more this year!! still wating for the breakthrough:) well im working on it.. so those were the beginnings....but the story goes on..... Daniël is part of the Xibalz deco team. they decorated Transylvania Calling 2005 in Romania, and the chill-out area at Rhakti Dei 2005, Belgium. well, they decorated more psy events, but i am aware of these 2. here ya go, check out some pics: mmh, TC05 rocked, it was perfect, such events make me continue rhakti was between beh & good( but we lost a backdrop there, the one from Link 7 you posted, my fault, ) , and don't forget Heron, that's my psychedelic playground. And a few weeks ago this one got stolen Clicky I remember that around late 2004 i did 40 parties, back then i used to count the parties, but i lost track of it. Catching a maniacal collector desease and starting to fill the shelves. 1999-2001: Trying to produce music, exploring the world of audio, music being made mostly for fun and on free time. Playing amoung the friends. ProSect projet was found. 2001-2002: First time the tracks of mine shown on the net and to more wider audience. Being one of the Psynews.org contests winners. Getting good feedback and taking the music production more seriously, diving deeply into the beauty of this art. 2002-2004: Producing tracks on the spare time from the college and army. Finding my own style, while the scene is on the levels of getting into the similarity and commercialism. Meeting Liron and starting the Sound Field. Both of us with a vision of being progressive and unique. First CD's hitting the label mail boxes. 2004-2005: Debut release of ProSect. Starting to experiment, touching many courners of the electronic music spectrum. Meeting Peter from Australia and launching the psychedelic freestyle project - ICO. Falling between the chairs, having hard times with music publishing. By the end of the year I've probably contacted 80% of the labels on the psy scene. A new love to more progressive, deep, tribal and funky music leading me into starting the Sonify project. Collaborating with Threshold Productions and signing our track to big UK label - Baroque. Meeting Oxygen records which support the progressive fullon with slight goa influences that comes out of Sound Field. 2005: The scene screams for a change, but no one tries to do it. Making PsyTrance with different flavours makes me out of releases while my music is popular amoung different artists and many other psy heads. Labels find it attractive but hesistate to release it. Finding myself listening to much less psy then ever, mostly into various electronic genres. On the good side of the things, the house scene surprises me with a big success of our 12" release, the single getting into #6 on BBC Radio buzz charts, chosen as track of the month on iDJ and picked by biggest DJ's around. On the psy scene, Sound Field and ProSect getting few more releases. Meeting Tribal Vision records which getting attracted by the progressive and the funky sounds coming out of my lab, signing few works with them. Working with VP records as well. Seing a little light at the end of the tunnel, when signing more different works to different labels. On the other hand, thinking of freezing ProSect project, a lot of material lies on the drive and no reason to make unwanted music anymore. Freedom of army makes me working more on the music and getting the live set ready for the next year. Hoping for good... 2006: Making eclectic music doesn't brings me money for bread, mostly working for living, no much time for music... That's a short story of my being as an artist, I'm happy that I walked through that times without thinking of chaning myself and looking for money.
