I was having an argument about this and i want to ask people more expirienced in the genre and know more about the artist. My argument is that they make some tracks resembling psybient (i.e. "Little Fluffy Clouds") but he says they arent psybient in the traditional sense. Can anyone help? It's not the typical tribal, druggie, wannabe Hindu, hippie, massage parlor kind of psy ambient, which I think is at least one thing it has going for it, but anyway... The Orb definitely make (or rather made?) psychedelic ambient music, but it's not "psybient" by genre I'd say. At the beginning of their career (late 80s/early 90s) they called it "ambient house", the terms "psy trance" or "psy ambient" didn't exist yet. It's still psychedelic music IMO and I'd call The Orb one of the major influences of the typical wannabe Hindu,......psy chill that started to appear about 10 years ago. They also collaborated with Youth for instance, so there's the connection to Dragonfly Records, Simon Posford etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
