Hall of Fame

Basilisk

I'm looking for some input on a sort of trance Hall of Fame I'm compiling... I'm working on the definitive list, but I'm only one man... some input and feedback would really help.

Think about it tho... the HoF isn't purely about individual choices. I'd say Atmos - Headcleaner would deserve a spot despite not really liking the album... it was BIG. It changed everything. Afterwards, one would refer to another artist as having an "Atmos sound" (think of Cosma's Simplicity for example).

Here's a short list I've made, by year. Feel free to disagree but tell me why. Feel free to add some as well, or make your own list! What timeless classics can you unearth?

Nice Hall of Fame thread and list. I'm glad to see we agree with almost all of them. I'd personally add the following albums below (at least many of them) to improve the list.

2004

Talpa - The Art of Non ............... 05 and 04 are too soon to be classic. Since you have 04-05 albums up, I'd add these.

Filteria - Sky Imput ................... too soon as well.

2005

Khetzal - Corolle ............................. too soon to be a classic, but this sounds probable to being one. :)

Antix - Twin Coast Discovery ............. too early to call it classic. but I see the potential.

.......

Definite Classic's and Cult classics from earlier days:

Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation

Miranda - Phenomena

Cosmosis - Cosmology

Shpongle - Tales from...

RA - To Series

Dimension 5 - Second Phaz

CHI-A.D. - Anno Domini / Earth Crossing

Doof - Lets Turn On

Sandmsn - Witchcraft

Battle of Future Buddhas - Twin Sharkfins

Muses Rapt - Spiritual Healing

MFG - Project Genesis

Mystery of the Yeti

and some others I can't think of right now.

v/a Voices of Madness (2003)

Juno Reactor - Transmissions (1993)

and so on..

good luck. :D

i'll be back on this because there's lot's that's missing (prolly because of personal taste, this is YOUR hall of fame) but you shoul surely add this one:

http://www.discogs.com/release/330381

its the compilation where all these now so big SA artists had their first track on, and the cd kixx asss

first shift cd should also be there, first artifakt cd too...

I'm aiming for something slightly different than another best of thread... this is more about legendary releases. Like I said, for people that mention taste, I threw some albums I'm not too keen on into my original list simply because I figure they're important to the history of trance. That's what I'm asking. If you don't like it, it's easy enough to ignore... ;)

The story might be different if there were some Elysium albums on the list, wouldn't it now?

No, I guess not... ;)

Eat Static raises a good question though... what is the real stand-out album from the group?

If you don't like my humour, you can also ignore it ;)

But about your first post, we obviously don't share the same definiton of the word legendary. Are Double Dragon - Continuum or 12 Moons - Solid State really legendary?

For exemple, I'd say "Trip to Transylvania" by X-dream and "Transmissions" by Juno Reactor are legendary, not because they are good but because they were released in 1993.

hehe, it's funny how artists their style can evolve, i don't think too many people think of SA as dark minimal anymore ;)

and i think twisted system - the dealers was more important than shift's or artifakt's album (but maybe only because i like that one :P)

I agree with Basilisk about Double Dragon - Continuum. not necessarily on the 12 Moons album..

Well, that certainly is the sort of input I was asking for here.

I'll admit the 12 Moons is a personal crusade ;) but I stand by Continuum.

Yeah, uh, I just skipped that cuz it gets pretty tiring to point out I'm never very serious with Uncle Elysium. I mean, I wrote "No, I guess not... ;)" right below, how much more obvious can I get? Really!

Time for the dreaded rolleyes armada.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
