Tracklisting

A Placebo

B1 Rasa

B2 Interzone

Kundalini's first[and last] work released, apart from several Kundalini tracks that appear on various old school compilations.. Hm, underrated IMO... ;)

A Placebo

First track starts calm and peaceful... Then it gets some energy kick and ... here you are in goahead's paradise... A peaceful relaxation @ around 4.00 for a few seconds and slowly but steadily energy is builded up again, kundalini is produced by the mind and we are back entranced..

B1 Rasa

A rather simple yet not cheesy melody that gets manipulated and whole track is in fact based upon it... Certainly descent track...

B2 Interzone

Great psychedelic intro, this track swings more on the trippy side with lots of variation , backwards and forward..... plays with you

In conclusion, this is definitely a release worth checking , I am certain all old-skool freaks will enjoy this. Subtle psychedelia, goa sound, a calm trip that does not get out of control.

Rating: 8.5/10

'Placebo' was the first Goa Trance tune I ever heard. I wasted around 500-800$

on shitty electronica before I discovered real acid enveloping, crescendos,

and 'connoisseur' grade knob twiddling. I still have the tune practically memorized

and I haven't heard it in several months.

edit: anyone with an absolutely MINT copy: I will trade something nice for it.

Artist: Kundalini
Title: Kundalini EP
Label: Flying Rhino Records
Date: 1995

A. Placebo
B1. Rasa
B2. Interzone

This is James Monro & Matt Evans, but perhaps you know them better as Technossomy. They didn't produce much under this alias, but instead went for quality over quantity. Placebo vacillates between goa trance a la Synthetic Flesh and a more positive and uplifting style. As Drake said on Discogs it's pretty impressive considering this track would be starting his freshman year in college.

Rasa has a slight tribal lean with its percussive scribblings and is of a harsher tone, but it does have a little bounce to it. The final track Interzone while juicy in places does show its age with some periods of thin production. But hey, it was 95 so you work with what you've got.

I wouldn't listen to it often and it's far from essential, but there have been a lot worse EP's that claimed to be goa trance from 1995. It is not without its charms.
