no, im against playing non psy stuff at parties, theire not weird and psychedelic and trippy enough, no story imo, its like playing britney spears in korn concert as a warp-up :)!

Now this is an odd idea FP! But if I had to suggest something, I would be a kind of warm up with psychedelic music from the 60's just to set the mood right ;)

I agree with your selection of underwold music, it can be quite trippy, specially the lyrics.

Good music is good music! Good music in similar mood as other good music mixes up well =)

I think each of their album had a different style so indeed most of their tracks shouldn't be played at psy parties. But some of their older production would fit well in a psy party i think, like "Alive" for exemple.

some of them are perfect for a party, obviously to have its own slot and not to interrupt a psy mix. they can be quite uplifting and put you on the right mood before starting the madness.

Panacea has some damn psychedelic tracks.

Really, though, I think that most dark electronic music makes a good seque into psy madness... I'd count Porcupine Tree, Decoded Feedback, This Morn Omina (Medicine Drum meets industrial), and Source Direct as some of the tastier 'alternatives' I've used in a psy set. B)

And the roots of darkpsy, of course: Pink Floyd - Welcome To The Machine :P

i'll go for some crazier tunes (ok maybe just parts of tracks):

- some rock/indie/ska/rap track with a very good part of scratch :) but i can't think of one now

- Antiloop - Only you

- Delirium feat. Sarah McLachlan - Silence (tiesto remix)

- Depeche Mode - It's No Good

- Fun Lovin Criminals - Scooby Snacks

- Underworld - Rez or Born Sleepy or Cowgirl or who knows what track :P

- Prodigy - Mindfiels

- Manau - Panik Celtik

- No Doubt - It's My Life

- The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army

- Sugababes - Overload

- Massive Attack (surely some track)

- Coldplay - Clocks.

i'm sure i could do some tricks here and there with a few tracks (maybe mix with something else).

so what do you think?

bash me or worship me if you have to :)

Why not? :) I like the idea of playing non psy at psy parties. Most of the people wont know the diffrence anyways hehehe.

There is a lot of music out there, that is indeed very psychedelic, but is not CLASSED as psytrance.

Genres are for elitists in my opinion, a good dj knows what to play and when to play it.

as a dj, you shouldn't underestimate your listeners, you know?

I never underestimate, but I am talking out of experience. Many times I have played Underworld, Eye-Q records, Harthouse Records etc etc, and everyone always asks me "When did this come out?", "Is this the new Dragonfly?" "Awsome promos you have!"

Im not saying that people on the dancefloor or here are narrow minded, Im mearly saying that people in general get stuck on Genres...
