Romania is not an ex-Soviet country, it was merely part of the old communist block.

Is this right Moni?

yes.

2000 years ago this land used to be called Dacia. then the Roman Empire conquered us and we dacians and romans mixed and formed the romanian people and the romanian language. Romania was then split in 3 small countries: Transilvania, Moldova, Tara Romaneasca. we had 3 big powerful bitches who didn't let us unite untill 1918: austro-hungarian empire who was trying to get Transilvania, russian empire who was trying to get Moldova, otoman empire who was trying to get Tara Romaneasca. we fucking survived all the shit these empires put us through (we fought many wars, we paid a lot of tribute and gold and grains and stuff to them).

In 1918 we finally made it. we united into Romania. and stayed like that.

that's basically all. we're latin and shit. romanian language is even close to italian and spanish.

we have never been part of USSR. we have always been communist Romania.

though i have seen some very cute russians in the festival a couple of weeks ago :)

Communist Romania as in a satellite country of USSR? Warsaw pact and all that shit.. now that's something they teach a lot about here aswell. After Finland declared independence and russos tried to invade us multiple times (or how they called it "aid".. with the tactics that they installed friendly fake goverment and then came in to "help us") they still tried to push Finland into signing the Warsaw pact and making us a satellite state as well.. thank god they couldn't :D

You know they say Hitler decided to make war with Russia after he saw that they couldn't even invade this tiny nation of 4 million (back then) people.. which ofcourse was the beginning to the fall of Germany.. so I guess in a way even tiny nations can play a fooking massive role in world history.. had Russia been able to invade us Hitler might not have started a 2 front war and Germany could now be the only super state and there would be no jews/black/other ethnic groups nor other ways different people

Satellite state

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The term satellite state, by analogy to stellar objects orbiting a larger object, such as planets revolving around the sun, refers to a country that is formally sovereign but that is in fact dominated by a larger hegemonic power. In extreme cases, satellite countries may be virtual colonies with little political, economic or military independence.

The expression is used primarily to describe the Central and Eastern European countries of the Warsaw Pact during the Cold War, which were dominated by Soviet influence from 1945-1948 until 1989. Cuba was also accused of being a Soviet satellite once it began to receive substantial economic and military aid from the Soviets.

Throughout the Cold War the effect was reciprocated largely towards the United States whereby NATO powers and other anti-communist governments were said to be maintained by American imperialism, taking more crude forms as "puppets" and "running dogs" as in for example North Korean propaganda against the South Korean regime during the reign of leaders such as Syngman Rhee.

The term has since been appropriated to explain the subserviant role of past nations to great powers. Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, and many long-gone empires are thus sometimes said to have acquired or ruled satellites.

Here's another interesting read: Finlandization

i say we get back to topic, ha?

Ok

Finlandization .. haha

Neutral Power:

"... After the war, Swiss authorities considered the construction of a Swiss nuclear bomb ..." "... in 1958 the population clearly voted in favour of the bomb... "

switzerland seems much more neutral (imo)

but yes let's call czech 3rd world if we place finnland in the 2nd world ;)

sorry if this already has been said, not in the mood to read about the history of dacia and stuff, but the land was legally rented from a private owner - you can check for the contract yourself on the internet (forgot where)

and from what i've read the authorithies didn't even claim czechtek didn't had the proper permits, they supposedly acted because of damage to nearby properties and because a nearby road would have been blocked
