wow nice set man!

sounds wicked!

i definatly sign you up for the psychedelic room

BTW... i dont know if this could ever be possible.... but if we get enough DJs on the forum... we might eventualy try to sign up for a radio station heh.... a psynews radio station would rock! a bit like Digitally Imported ... we could have a forum section to comment on the live mix playing this way we d pretty much always know the DJ who s playing the set a bit like Digitally imported members are with Grandaddy DJ and Morlak

Keep em coming guys!

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm posting my set list from last night's party here since I bothered to record it. The setup... this was a tribal-themed event in the woods just inside Toronto, with about 150 people at it. I was to play for 3 hours following a drum circle (no amplified sound at the time). Here's what I ended up playing:

Entheogenic - Ground Luminosity

Kaya Project - Stone Turns Black

Umberloid - Neon Tetra

Eat Static - Follow That Camel

Shpongle - Beija Flor

Prometheus - Homeworld

Shpongle - A New Way to Say "Hooray" (Prometheus Remix)

-- Intermission --

Uni - Divided Life

Talamasca - A Frenchman in Cape Town (Chill Cliff Remix)

Kooler - Freefall

Kruger & Coyle - Fit Bint Valley

Lish - Outsiders

Sun Control Species - Structure

Ticon - Waiting for the Knights

Phony Orphants - Going Down

Kiwa - Kiva Runner

Juno Reactor - Navras

Shpongle - My Head Feels Like a Frisbee (Delusions of Grandeur Remix)

Taruna - Sacred Tree

Phony Orphants - Petanque

B.L.T. - The Calling (Live Mix)

Human Blue - Demon Dance

Psypilot - Full Om

Hydrophonic - Eb 'n Flow

Safi Connection - Space Navigators

Jirah - Crystallize

Shakta - Spiritual Beings in Physical Bodies

Jaia - Mai Mai

Power Source - Skywalker

CHI-A.D. - Eye am the I

Hallucinogen - Spiritual Antiseptic

SFX - Butterfly Trip

The "intermission" is when the cops showed up, music had to be shut down, and everything was looking really grim. Then they realized all the people there were not a bunch of needle using hooligans, and they told us all to carry on, but be sure to clean up! It was rad... so I led back in with a really pounding tribal track, brought it into the progressive realms, and then gradually upped the energy levels. Playing these songs live is a lot different from hearing them at home - some tracks have unexpected power and crowd response (i.e. "The Calling") whereas others, which sound great at home, didn't interest people as much (Lish for example). Peak moments of crowd response, for those interested: Beija Flor (say what you will about this track, people fucking love it on the dancefloor), Going Down (I always play this track, it's a signature), Navras (OF COURSE), Taruna's Sacred Tree (lovely song), and Demon Dance through to the very end (once the full-on came out and even after I did a quick switch to old school people were just going crazy the whole time)... the sun rose as I finished. It was a great night :)

Maybe that gives someone some insight...

Looks like an awesome mix Scott... Even with the intermission ('the police are here - they've asked us to stop the party...')... And you say you recorded it? Any chance of you making it available as a torrent like you've done with your other mixes?

Agh, I just realized how misleading that statement was... no, I mean I recorded what I played (as in written down) whoops :D

I will be putting together a tribal-themed mix sometime however, and it would likely include many of these tracks.

  • 4 months later...

thank you for putting my track in your mix :D it feels good to be appreciated!

Please check out our new website for more tracks: http://www.moai.se

tehre is coming a chill-out area on the music section soon. + more trance-trax ^^

Some time back i noticed that there were a lot of awesome tracks that clocked in at exactly 120 bpm.  So I present to you my first "120 bpm slow-trance extravaganza," clocking in about an hour if mixed.

moai - crystal elixir rather lengthy and very hypnotic... exactly what we need to get everybody tranced out.  check out how the track shifts part way through to prepare for the climaxes of the set

It would probably make a terrible mix like this, but at some darker time I'd want these included:

Klangstrahler - Nexxus (Il profondo ... mix)

Shakta - No Conspiracy

Sonnenvakkum - Tiefenrausch

Intact Instinct - Achtungbeschleuniger

BOTFB - Scoobydoo Meets the Fluff Monster

Silicon Sound - Inner Space

BLT - Monolith

Naked Tourist - Zombifiziert Mix

Protoculture - Halusignorita

Cosmosis - Weird, Sick and Twisted

Transa - Recoil

Tristan - Dawn Raider

Kundalini - Rasa

Technossomy - V.T.O.L.

GNOTR - Atomic Armadillo (The Fluffening)

Fluorostani Transcendance - Synchronity Converger

Just noticed that there may be too much talking for many people's taste ;)

Just found this thread... Flurorostani Transcendance and Synchronicity Converger are both tracks by Unconscious Collective.

Um.

Carry on... I'm going to read the rest of the thread now, where someone else has probably already corrected you. Possibly even me.

Sorry for my unspecific post, but here is what I would have played, in no special order, I always make up my set as I go. (Anyways, this is what is in my record case at the moment)

Eat Static

Juno Reactor

Cydonia

Total Eclipse

Hardfloor

Microwave Prince (Would only play cyclic evolution though).

TIP

Hallucinogen (LSD original and mixes)

Montauk P

Underworld

A couple of Noom records

Some eye-q records

Then I would make a nice mix out of those.

If I would do a progressive set.

It would include:

Jaia

Son Kite

Ticon

Reefer Decree

Holm & Andersen - Promo Tracks (Promo)

Gaudium

Antix

Filterheadz - Love Distortion (EP)

Various - Set 5 SummerCollection

Beat Bizarre

Again, no specific order from these artists, id watch the dancefloor and see what happens.

If things really would get to the point that noone dances, then I would put on some SKAZI! ;)

for gsh:

how do you play promo tracks if you only know how to play vinyls?

what about tracks that are not pressed on vinyls (and no dont say this is only for psy trance because there are quite a bit of prog stuff that are not released on vynil.. like some martin h tracks from the last album, or others)?

If I was a dj I would surely play both.. some tracks I love are only on vynil and some only on cd...

got to learn to play both to be a good overal dj imo :)
