what do u mean??

many kicks are used in psytrance...

get some samples from a p2p pgm...

or u can make ur own.. in logic i can make some decent kicks with the ES1...

so if u use logic let me know i can show u how to do it...

I know it's less convenient but I like to make my own kicks…

Likewise thats why I was asking. We've had a bit a of a discussion over at the Cakewalk Project 5 forum based on the wav file Cybernetika posted. The designer of the Psyn synth pitched in and provided a reasonable patch for that synth.

Have you got a pointer to odo "kick me too 2" ?

to make kicks:

-set resonance all the way up.

-set the lfo to modulate the cutoff (short value)

-set the enveloppe , attack low, decay medium, release low

-then adjust the filter cutoff until it sounds good...

the advantage with this method is u can fine tune the kick to make it the wya u like it...

and it's more satisfying than using samples imo...

I mostly used "dramatic" vsti for that… and recently I started using odo "kick me too 2"

Do any of you know any good kick vstis?

hi.

i read most of the kick tutorials..

i still am unclear about a few things..

while layering two kicks how do u use a compressor?

two seperate compressors on both the kicks or do u use 1 compressor and assign both kicks to it ??

while using a parametric eq on the kick what filter type should i use low pass or low shelf..

is it possible to see an eq curve for a kick(also bass) on a website or as a tutorial ?

i know that it is not always the same for all kicks and tastes may vary..but it would still help to get a general idea..

thank you..

There are not "concrete" rulez but generally it would be better to compress them together....

Another way to make kicks, it´s to take the soundforge and with Additive synthesis add one tone , fade out, envelope, maybe another tone... I have listened some kicks made with soundforge and you can get really cool samples.

Recently I investigated the Side Chain compressor for the bass and kick, I think it´s neccesary to avoid "enmascaramiento" (in spanish, don´t know how it´s called in english) so the bass will be compressed when kick sounds.

The better way it´s to introduce the kick into the left channel, and the bass to the right channel. You tell the compressor that the key mode is L->R and you get a bass compressed when the key (kick) sounds, problem is that you get in the right channel, you have to route to another stereo channel for making it sound to the center.

Cheers.
