That's the dude that did the Auschwitz symphonies right? I heard some of his avantgarde stuff when I worked in the record store... We had education in specific types of music, and our teacher in neo-classical, raved about Penderecki all the time... Karlheinz Stockhausen too - though I don't think they make even remotely similar music...!?

Penderecki is awesome, and way more accessible than the nutball Stockhausen =) Still though, Penderecki is avant-garde and pretty much as far from any "popular music" as you can get. Read up on tone clusters for example; it sounds nothing like anything you hear in any non-classical music, pretty much. Although I'm experimenting with tone cluster in my trance tracks =)

I was introduced to his music by a 30 (or so) years older friend that played "Utrenja" for me, after I had been raving about György Ligeti's choral works. And I really fell for Utrenja, especially the "Entombment of Christ" bit. Still haven't tracked down a copy though! This one I got today was a VERY expensive and limited (500 copies!) vinyl with the soundtrack to the 1965 movie The Saragossa Manuscript. The music was composed and recorded in 1963 though. The review it got at Aquarius Records sounded so cool I just had to get it...

Reger: Looks like the promo sheet for The Law EP, while the vinyl looks like the 5-track Infonet EP.

EDIT: What the hell? It says 5 tracks on the info sheet! Maybe there are two "The Law EP"s? Just like there are 5 From Within EPs by MWNN:

Since FABU016T were all blank (or hand-written) on one side and has no text on the other side, the title is very uncertain... "Infonet EP" might very well be completely wong.

Cool review indeed:

PENDERECKI, KRYSZTOF The Saragossa Manuscript (OST) (OBUH) lp 39.00

Wow. This has got to be the thickest heftiest gatefoldlp sleeve we've EVER seen. Not just the kind that cracks and creaks when you open, no, it's the sort of lp that when you do finally crack it open, it's like in the movies when the main character is finally opening the long lost crypt, muscles bulging, tendons straining, sweating and grunting, as it slowly opens with the grinding scrape of metal on concrete... Okay, so maybe it's not quite -that- intense, but heck, EVERY single person who picks it up does a sort of double take and utters something like "Woah, wow... WOW!" Plus the cover images are gorgeous, the front is a stark black and white landscape of gnarled dead trees, the back is a makeshift gallows, occupied by two unlucky souls, with an ominous pile of human skulls in the foreground. Crack it open and inside the gatefold you'll see a acid drenched burnt out kaleidoscopic photo of Krysztof Penderecki behind a huge pile of analog studio gear. Penderecki? Yep, Pendercki! This is the long lost soundtrack to the 1965 classic The Sargassa Manuscript, AKA Rekopis znaleziony w Sarogossie, AKA The Manuscript Found In Saragossa, one of the greatest Polish films ever made, and most definitely one of the strangest, most fucked up visual trips EVER. Think Bunuel, Lynch, Jodorowsky, Tarkovsky, Gilliam and then realize you'd most definitely need to include Sargasso director Wojciech Has. But the sounds are as strange and wondrous as the sights, due in no small part to Penderecki's lovely, haunting and downright bizarre score. Dark delicate piano filigree hovers in wide expanses of barely there ambience, grunts and groans and mumbled vocalisations drift in and out, western steel string guitars play tiny boleros before being overtaken by majestic church organs, snatches of refined chamber music are interrupted by strange soundscapes of what sounds like thunder or trees being felled, hypnotic stretches of No Neck Blues Band-like rattle and clatter, mysterious percussive interludes, woodblocks and rattles and shakers, and surrounding it all, little bits and pieces, scraps of sound, all manner of strange audio delights. A completely intense and intensely strange musical trip, even without the equally bizarre visuals of the film. In fact the images these sounds conjure up in your head, in the dark, with headphones on, might just be even stranger than the movie itself. If that were even possible...

Pressed on INCREDIBLY thick vinyl, and oh, did we mention the sleeve?!?!

And as you might imagine, this vinyl-only Polish import is EXTREMELY LIMITED!!!!

Oh yeah, you better submit this to Discogs with some hi-res pix of the gatefold sleeve... By the description in the review, it sounds pretty interesting... The music sounds very interesting - more avantgarde than Luciana, hehe... Have you seen the movie? It's out on DVD - I'm sure at least some of my friends would love it... Freaks! Hehe...

Haven't seen the movie, need to get that sorted. I doubt this will be allowed into discogs, because even though there ARE super-old elechtronic instruments featured, it's mainly "classical" music in the sense that it it uses real instruments (although in very weird ways). I need to give it a proper listen before I decide though.

ukiro: as I learn more about music releases it is becoming increasingly

apparent to me that what happens at the pressing plant is rarely a smooth

process. Add that many Goa producers and their friends are high on

hallucinogens half the time and I think what we get is a batch of vinyls

pressed, sometimes with mistakes, sometimes in unrecorded quantities,

etc.. It is not surprising to see many 'variations' of a release.

I have a copy of Twisted with a TIP shiva logo on one of the sides. Shit

happens.

Just one CD today, from trade with Visine (he bought it for me from Saikosounds):

VA - TIP Singles 2

http://www.discogs.com/release/36258

IMO it's one of the best TIP comps, just listen to Psychopod, Laughing Buddha, Doof, The Infinity Project, Hallucinogen or The Deviant! I even like those 2 Synchro tracks :)

Here's the deal, I have both of these, fab005 and 16 side by side.

The cover of The Law EP reads:

a. the law.. T.I.P (graphic of a star)

b. stretch and yawn 100%

(graphic of 8 stars going around hole opening in sleeve on both sides)

UPHOLD LAW (5 more colorful stars)

(5 stars) THE

Okay, =] so you get the picture. Does not say anything else, so I'm guessing whether it's "The Law EP" or maybe it's even "Uphold The Law"?

Then, that sheet would indicate that Infonet EP is indeed The Law EP, but there's a question of track names:

On the record sticker, it says

'T.I.P'

'LAW' EP

A1) HYPERACTIVE

2) A PLACE CALLED FAROUT!

3) ZERO GRAVITY.

There are five tracks. I don't have a record player anymore, and I'm wondering if maybe The Law and Stretch and Yawn are indeed the two tracks on the other side?! Gr. Well, anyways, it's worth investigating as I mentioned a couple weeks ago. Glad Reger got the scans in that I could not get in. I have the exact same copy of that paper with my "infonet ep" and it was what I was refering to when I asked previously! HELP =] SOMEONE,

OH SHIT, reger has a different sheet than I do, but it's from Phuture trax! Mine is different. I'm going to try and get my scanner working now.

:-/

P.S. It seems our records have the SAME handwriting on the label. However, mine has more writing, and there isn't a fabulous records writing anywhere. But the PRINTING shows very similar traits. I can't scan that, when I get a new digicam! :)

Anyways, here's the sheet I have!!!@# I got the scanner working:

Here's what "the law" or fabu005's cover looks like, the record label is blank:

I'm very much interested in the law ep! It's the only one I'm missing (the two-tracker, that is). I'll see what I can cook up in terms of trade offerings =)

HOLY cArp!

What is all that? Name a couple... It can't all be psy/goa can it? Spill it!

446512

It's about 15-20% goa. It's an insane mix - it has pretty much every form of electronic music. I've started going through the first crate now, and since it's so much obscure and bizarre stuff, I will have to listen to maybe 80% of these records before I decide on what to keep, what to sell etc; it's going to take forever! Some of the goa stuff is SUPER nice rarities though, like hand-printed TIP sleeves etc, the first Eat Static records, Electrotête, etc... I will see if I can cook up a list once I'm done checking everything =)

In addition to all that, this dropped into my mailbox just a minute ago:

Various - A Vision Of Trance - Tapovan

Now go change your pants... I'm sure you creamed them when those crates arrived?  B)

446526

Well, nearly =) but it's been such a huuuuge hassle getting them here from england that I was more relieved than excited. And since the mix of stuff os so utterly weird, I'm still not sure it was a good idea - this cost me a LOT and I won't know wether it's worth it or not until I've gone through it all... I'm splitting the whole thing with Stormbringer though, so I won't be totally ruined =) But I won't put up much of a fight on ebay this coming month...

Fair enough... Well, consider it an investment - maybe you strike gold, maybe not... How many records is it - and how much was the shipping from the UK? (I'm guessing you won't tell us how much you paid for the lot!?)

I'll keep the financial figures to myself =)

There's about 600 vinyls in total, I would guess. I haven't counted, there's more important things to do when you get this much at once =)
