Wel, I don't think that "I Wish" sounds cheesy IMO.

Remember, this topic is about the titles not the music.

Goa/psy very rarely has any intelligent or interesting titles. It's usually generic, shallow and dull - not necessarily embarrasingly bad, but still... Acts like Ticon has a few funny ones (some require you to speak swedish to get it, like "Shaken, not störd"). But serious and intelligent titles are rare.

You're right Ukiro and I really like funny titles as well but "Da Killa" for example is cheesy not funny :)

Yeah there are some amazingly uninspired ones around - I generally cringe at titles that include some sort of synth reference since it displays such a huge lack of imagination - "uhm lets see, the track is done, now I need a name... uhm... cutoff! octave! oscillator!"

The fact that a lot of artists don't speak english natively is of course a handicap - Israel has given us track titles like "Ice Is Nice" (Alien Project, who also must be one of the most retarded cliché names ever), and engrish grammar bastardization like the infamous "Lerger Then Life", "Let It Bent" (Gataka), "Who Touch My Base Line?" (Talamasca vs Skazi), "There She Go" (Skazi again, from the same record), "Why To Be Normal !?" (album by Nissimyani, with the track titled "Coridoors"), and it just goes on and on...

But even the ones that aren't grossly misspelled rarely convey any sense of meaning or message. They could just as well be called "track 1", "track 2" etc...

I was just thinking the opposite - comparing with other music styles like rock, pop and melodic trance, goa/psy titles sound very intelligent! Especially chillout stuff. Whole albums as examples

Of course, I'm not counting all those uber-cheeseball titles.

Jardin De Cecile

Conga Fury

God Is God

Komit

Swamp Thing

Kaguya Hime

What about 1200 Mics? Almost every tune they release has an uber-cheesy name. Let's see:

Ayahuasca

Hashish

Mescaline

LSD

Marijuana

Ecstasy

Magic Mushrooms

Salvia Divinorum

DMT

And from the latest album:

The Creation

Egypt (Land Of The Pharoahs)

Stoned Henge

Shiva's India

Rock Into The Future

Glories Of Greece

The Mayans, Incas & Aztecs

Garden Of Eden

1001 Arabian Nights

They have to be the kings of cheesy titles. The music itself isn't far behind either.

yeah but if u have a little mythological culture u know that Alcyone,Asterope,Maia and the other tracks on IFO.were the 7daughters of ATLAS and PLEIONA.and they were named the PLEIADES.so i think you can't say that it's cheesy cause the analogy between the name pleiadians and the track titles u don't find it anywhere.not highly smart but nor cheesy.and i dont think that juno has cheesy titles.what about GMS/1200 mics then?

but yeah a lot of tracks have pointless titles and.in a lot of cases i think they just open a dictionary-mythological one-and pick up the very first name.
