In many of the legendary tracks from the day, there are samples from movies, and other sources.

What is the most memorable ones for you? That really put the sprinkle on the icing on the cake?

The first track I heard in the goa genre, that really stuck to me (with samples) was Mahadeva. Then at the same day I naturally discovered Dancing Galaxy. This was in 1998. I was 15/16 at that time.

But besides them there are many great tracks that utilizes samples in a wonderful way.. But many of them (for me) is still Astral Projection. (Tryptomine Dream, Enlightened Evolution, Flying into a star ETC ETC ETC)

What about you?

What samples do you remember really made you love the track just a little bit more?

Im sure its not Astral Projection for everyone :D

So many one to remember... Samples can be oftenly so important for the atmosphere and the storytelling. Sometimes is nice to hear tribal or mystical songs for sample except from sci-fi movies which are the most relevant. Also astronaut or pilot communications.

It's a great subject, i had this in mind but forgot it...

Astral Projection - Flying Into a Star

"I am 1 million kilometers from the star's corona. I am actually flying into a star! This is incredible..."

Every time I listen to that song, I have to say that sample out loud because it makes me laugh so hard and knowing which episode of Star Trek: TNG it comes from makes it even funnier.

Filteria - In the Heaven's Eye

"The scene from up here, everything seems different. It squashes a man's ego. Time bends, space is... boundless."

I really like this sample in that track

The high that proved too high, the heroic for earth too hard,

The passion that left the ground to lose itself in the sky,

Are music sent up to God

Enough that he heard it once: we shall hear it by and by.

Yep ! and i forgot this one !! really like it !! really fits in that epic track

When i see my future parents in union

may i see the love rites of primordial Buddhas

choosing my birthplace for the good of others

may i receive a precious human body

May i not follow all my evil karma

but follow and increase what merit i have

wherever i am born, at that very place

may i meet the highest truth face to face

Wherever i am born, may that land be blessed

so that all beings may be happy

(sample at 03:02)

Logic Bomb - The Third Revelation

"Music is more than mathematics, and I am much more than a program with musical subroutines"

And just for the sake of some personal humour value:

Eat Static - Epidemic

The first time I heard this I thought the sample goes "are we dealing with an academic" :D

Sorry for double posting.

Rye Smugglers - Device Manager @ 4:28

"this was no accident, it was a well planned excercise by the new world order"

https://soundcloud.com/ryesmugglers/rye-smugglers-device-manager

It reminds me of a sample from The compilation - Full On Vol. 2 - The Israeli DAT Mafia from 1998

Freeman vs Liquid metal - Optical Crystal (it's only the new world order, that's it I guess)

Made me think of this:

Walter Ego - We're High

"OK we're high and this is the safest place we can be"

IIRC that's Jeff Goldblum from one of the Jurassic Park movies :)
