Anything similar

Hi all psynews peeps,

I have just recieved an album called "anything you want" from BLT & Danni Makov

and i must say that i really really like it, it is very much my style. Same goes with Atmos and FREq.

Now, i was woundering if there is much trance like this around, cause i'm starting my collection and really only want to have the kind of music i like. There is many other music but i'm not so familiar with names of this partiular style, till now it has been mostly dark trance like para halu, kindzaza and stuff for me.

Now i got to know of this album because of the "best of 2004" topic, and now i want to know about similar trance of previous years, so that i can start buying. :)

thanks in advance

Frantic.

I'd call that particular album unique.

In fact, I keep coming back to consider what might be a good companion piece and cant come up with anything that fits with the diverse styles, tribal touches, and fat production of that album... hmm... maybe Lunaspice - Reflexion? You'd have to like the more progressive sound for that one however - it isn't so diverse, but it IS fat and tribal.

It would have been much better if Yuli had taken the BPM down -5. To me it was too much Full On and too little progressive.

He even admit it himself. That he would have liked it to be slower. Talking about preasure to sell and get bookings at any cost in Israel ;)

Either way seems fine to me - I don't consider this album full-on. Much like Prometheus (hey! there's a comparable album - robot-o-chan!) I'd say this avoids the trends and just sticks to the general psychedelic trance concept. Oh but I wouldn't complain if the BPMs were dropped... I hope Yuli remixes some of these into progressive gems :)

This album rocks with its' high BPM. Yuli managed to gap succesfully between Progressive structures and Full On energies. I fucking adore the outcome. Shame on the dumb progressive oriented organisers that find his style too full-on and same on the full-on oriented ones that think that he's too proggy. The scene is not ready yet for something unique like that. And that's the reason that the BLT project was shut down for the moment.

For similar Proggy/Psy/Full-On hybrids check out Prosect/Sound Field. He might surprise the shit out of you this year.

I agree, the high BPM is what makes me like this album so much i think. Sometimes i feel proggy is just that tiny little bit to slow, and fullon, well, better i not comment on that :)

Not that i can't get thouroughlly excited by progg it's just that this this gets me up another notch, a place proggy never bringes me.

I'll definatly check prosect/sound field out, think it was your advice that made me buy the album, so for now i'd listen to anything you suggest me, i am really thankful i discovered this album, thx m8.

Yuli only made this high BPM because he saw it as the only way to get gigs in Israel. (Crowd demand) He say himself that he would have prefered to make it slower. See thats what Yuli likes. slower BPM's and much more progressive ;)

The reason why he stopped BLT is of the simple explanation that he could not ge gigs and also cause he liked to explore other sides of progressive music and get free from the Full On trap your Country is in. He's not the only one in the world with the dilemma of not being able to get enough gigs. But it's for sure more easy if he stick to progressive. I mean to get gigs outside Israel. Now I got nothing against crossover. It's fine with me and there your right. The organisers have a hard time with it.. But as I said his heart is with progressive - not so much Full On.

He now make progressive music.

Who gives a fuck about definitions anyway.

His last album IS a masterpiece. Full on, progressive yada yada.

It beats (almost) every other highly praised sprog or full on releases in 2004. The only album that gave me the same feelings the last year was Talpa's debut.

Thats fine. That's your personal opinion not all people's opinion ;)

I am just pointing out that Yuli himself is not all that happy about that release when it come to the bpm.. as he pointed out it's just too fast.

Thank you both dudes

Sorry my site url not works for some reason, hope it will be fixed soon (You can use http://ehasting.u40.infinology.com/prosect/ meanwhile).

First Sound Field tune will be avaliable soon:

Hope you will like it and hope for more releases (they go very slow due to non-ordinary view on psychedelic music of mine which makes the label hard to find a suitable place for the tracks )

ND.
