Artist: Yotopia Title: Master Key Label: Plusquam Records Date: 28-09-2012 Style: Progressive Trance Tracklist: 1. Yotopia - Master Key 2. Yotopia - Master Key (Time In Motion Remix) 3. Yotopia - Master Key (Rocky Remix) Lately I'm enjoying a lot of Yotopia tracks. There album Connect The Dots was a good piece of work and so are a lot of other tracks spread out on different compilations. Now it's time for Master Key. The original starts of like a lot of there tracks. They make you feel the beat until you have a good grip on it. Once that job has been completed, they use there skill to make everything more playful and bouncy. Still they are not forgetting to take you on a little trance-trip, great stuff. I must say, I was expecting them to go all the way after that wide open break near the end. Other than that I can't complain. Time In Motion delivered a lot of master tracks themselves over the last years. This remix is another good one. It's already smashing from the start and you can feel this track taking more and more shape as is goes along. Well done. The Rocky remix isn't my favorite. Somehow it lacks of groove to me. Halfway the song he picks the groove back up, but shortly after that I can't help but think this remix isn't really going anywhere. I don't know, it's like theres not much of a story to tell. I have heard some good stuff from Rocky, but this isn't his best work. Overall this is a nice remix EP. Even though I heard better tracks from all artist involved, I can't say I didn't drift of listening to the first 2 tracks. Not spectacular, but with so much good other work I can definitely live with that. Links: http://www.beatport....ster-key/972613 http://www.psyshop.c.../plu1dw291.html

Artist: Human Element Title: Subsequent Connection EP Label: Plusquam Records Date: June, 2012 1. Subsequent Connection 2. Subsequent Connection (Atmos Remix) This is Martin Knecht (half of Earsugar) with a short 2 track EP. Actually it's one track and then the same track remixed by the Sultan of Sweden, The Prince of Progressive, the...it, it's Atmos. Awww Yeah! That soft pillowy kick is so f*cking inviting as incidentals bounce around the tympanic membrane. Smooth, gliding action and subtle chopped synths bathe the listener in the warm glow of a party getting started. Did a bunch a drag queens escape from prison? So then the Atmos remix comes and hey I got nothing against his music, but the purpose of a remix is to make the track sound...I dunno, different? I liked the track, but I just f*cking heard it! It's like Groundhog Day and I just wanted to punch your software. So it doesn't matter which track you choose to download, but if you choose both, then you must have some extra green lying around. Can you get me a happy meal? Beatport Mdk

Artist: Various Title: Declare Remixes EP Label: Plusquam Records Date: May, 2011 1. Declare - Ritmo 2. Declare (Ovnimoon Remix) 3. Declare (Atomic Pulse Remix) 4. Declare (Elecdruids Remix) It's good to be king Don't be bitter Ronald. Get some f*cking bacon on your sh*t and maybe your burgers will sell better. The Ritmo project used to be the duo of Dubi Dagan and Eitan Morganstern until Dubi kicked him out for being too Jewish. I cannot verify that, but we have video of the final festival of the project as a duo. Oy vey, check out the yenta's in the front row...watch out for those panties! Regardless of what the truth may be, Dubi is one of the rulers of the progressive trance genre. He's made like a million tracks and the vast majority of them have been stellar. His corner of the genre is the melodic and atmospheric stuff that goes down super smooth. Disharmonic Silence in 2008 and Archive 9 are both must haves as far as I'm concerned. So here he is with a remix EP. Everybody's doin' em, but 4 remixes of the same song? I think we can all see the potential danger here. Ovnimoon, Elecdruids (who?) and... what the f*ck is Atomic Pulse doing here? Someone tell him that Fineplay is down the block. Right off the bat the original is everything you think it would be. A beautiful atmospheric journey. Ovnimoon (another uber talented producer) creates an equally super track that on it's own would be great. Problem is it followed the original so it sounds a lot like the movie we just saw. I know Vanilla Ice said it goes ding ding ding da-da-ding ding, but we all know it's Under Pressure. To be fair, it sounds more ominous with a darker edge so I shall give him the benefit of the doubt. I guess they thought there wasn't enough uninspired boring full on, so now we got that in there with the Atomic Pulse remix. After the first two great tracks this one had to be a letdown didn't it? Who didn't see it coming? I reviewed their last album hereif you want a chuckle, but makes you wonder who they blew to get on this EP. "Boom...boom. Get out." And then the Elecdruids ZZZzzzzz..... The danger of doing a remix EP of one track is that they will all sound the same. Points awarded for putting the original first, which makes it a helluva lot easier to compare tracks. But that didn't happen. The problem was half the tracks sucked. Atomic Pulse and whoever the last guys were just mailed it in. And Ritmo I don't know how it works choosing who gets to be on your EP, but I imagine that you have something to do with it. Some of the blame has to fall on your shoulders for letting that weak sh*t on something that bears your name. All in all, the first two tracks are worthwhile and I declare the final two are...not. Artist: Jens Buchert Title: Interstellar Label: Plusquam Records Date: November, 2011 1. Silkstream 2. The Vortex 3. Venus Nights 4. Helios 5. Spaceglider 6. Causality 7. Echospheres 8. Fluffy Time 9. Never Ending 10. Phoenix Sleeping 11. Swift 12. Interstellar 13. Sleepwalker 14. Parabolic 15. Amour Noblesse 16. Endless Dark I had to check this out just because the cover. I had never heard of Jens Buchert even though he has like...12 albums or something. The cover has a robot and I like robots. Hollywood has long waged a smear campaign against these mechanical creatures painting them as evil beings. And let's be honest...we're not quite at the technological level that movies would have us believe. We must act quickly before the Terminator gives us all diabetes and high blood pressure. like middle aged Japanese aren't already stereotyped for their wooden personalities. Which one's the robot? That is some creepy sh*t. I can see this guy bringing a chick home (no I can't) and in his mind thinking she would be enamored of his brilliance by dropping her fear soaked panties in submission. Sick f*ck. This is what all the nerds are worried about? So the defense against a highly sophisticated multi-million dollar defense project is to...run upstairs? Silkstream- Warm machinery hums as I stand on the observation deck and view a starship exiting the docking bay. It is the human race's last hope as the search for water takes a bold new step. Rich floating pads and futuristic effects make this a great piece of space ambient. The Vortex- That's a pretty big beat you've got there young man. I'ts what I would be pumping in my land speeder if I rolled through the cantina neighborhood. "This isn't the beat you're looking for." There is a spacey feel that is balanced with some nice flute. Wailing pads give it a melancholic feel. Superb! Venus Nights- I like the strings, but the breakbeat puts it over the top. Good stuff. Helios- Can't get over the warmth of these tracks. Is that Na'avi? Either that or Portuguese. With unraveling electronics and funky drummings this is a nice treat. It's chill and multi-layered. Spaceglider- "The reward of faith is to see what you believe. While there is life, there is hope. While we breathe, we shall defend. The lord is my light." Yeah, that's great and all, but I could really get into the music if you would shut the f*ck up. And that's what ruins it for me. Musically this is so appealing, but that sample interrupts my dream like Stacy did when that kid was holed up in the bathroom trying to rub one out to her mom. Holy sh*t Causality- Loungey raise your martini glasses where everything in the room is white and chrome. Electric piano chords and warm pads are what's on tap. Cooler than a Diddy linen party I didn't kill Big. No, really I didn't. Echospheres- Slow, jazzy, gangsta strutting. Although it does sound like a lovemaking scene in a bad movie with that distant horn blaring. Are you guys old enough to remember staying up late at grandpa's house because he had cable complete with the soft blurry focus that Skinimax is notorious for? No? Just me then? Never got to see anything good anyway. Just enough to get you excited and start looking at your cousin that is only a cousin by marriage. Let me make that perfectly clear. Not blood related. I would imagine that's how it would go. Fluffy Time- He does this a lot using far off sounds that promote introspection. Also gives the track some largesse. The break is smooth and allows a synth to peek in. Bright and sunny. Never Ending- More space lounge that seems to sample the Bee Gees. And that's cool, I liked the Bee Gees. The female vocal drips of cool with a vocoder effect. Wait...she's an android? I, uh...I knew that. *quickly puts flowers and box of chocolates in trash* Phoenix Sleeping- This is more space ambient with grainy communication samples of the moon landing. Melodic and beautiful. Swift- Sparkling synths, warm pads, and a glitchy rhythm set let you lean back in your Dorito crumb infested La-Z-Boy and immerse yourself in the layers. Cool acoustic guitar riffs give it a jazzy feel. Tasty! Interstellar- Having fun with a speak and spell. It's groovy and futuristic if you ignore the African chant, but somehow he makes it fit. Hey if we're 1000 years in the future ya think Africa is just gonna disappear? Don't think so. Why you gotta hate on the Dark Continent? Racist. Sleepwalker- With all the dubby lounge going on you should have your PhD in smooth by now. So beautifully textured it makes me feel like I'm floating in a bubble at normal speed whilst all my surroundings are in slow motion. Parabolic- Slow like I'm doing a moon walk No, not that one. It crawls along with pads and assorted twinklings. Relaxing to say the least. Amour Noblesse- I'm running out of adjectives to describe how good this music is. 16 tracks will do that to you. This dubby breakbeat tune has me dreaming of a beach vacation. Endless Dark- The ambient outro brings the space back into the equation. Runnng lights help me guide the ship back into the docking bay. The grim faces of the remaining crew tell you all you need to know. Really enjoyed this. He is very good with breakbeats and layered synths. I definitely recommend it for those that enjoy downtempo with a loungey space themed flair. There are 16 tracks so they are the perfect length to digest. Beatspace Psyshop Goastore Mdk
