  1. Artist: Various Title: Re-Start Label: Utopia Records Date: September, 2005 1. Bizarre Contact - Freedom 2. Phanatic - Restart 3. Passenger - Tranceforum 4. Vibe Tribe - Liberation 5. Freaked Freakuency - Our Way To Paradise 6. Ananda Shake - Fashion TV 7. Elec3 - Stigma 8. Deedrah - Self Oscillation (Ananda Shake Remix) 9. Alternative Control - Have Mercy "We are the ones who must transform the dream." Hit that button Stimpy! Hit it! Make them all go away! If you're searching for that compilation that is jam packed with color by numbers full-on well step right up! Need more guitars in your psytrance? No problem! Tired of intricate melodies and deep atmospheres? Look no further. This is cotton candy sweet for those who want to remain unencumbered with thinking outside the box. Acid samples seem out of place in the way that Neil Diamond would throwing down a freestyle at the Apollo. And holy sh*t did Ananda Shake f*cking castrate the classic Deedrah goa track. Criminal. Aside from Our Way To Paradise this is the proverbial turd in a punch bowl. Why the hell do I keep doing this to myself? Psyshop - Not available? Consider it a public service.
  2. Artist: Vibe Tribe Title: Wise Cracks Label: Utopia Records Date: April, 2006 1. Wise Cracks 2. Dream Catcher 3. Carousel 4. Three Quarters 5. Lfobia 6. The Brain.B.Q 7. Bad Habbits 8. Pulse 9. Memories 10. The Sperminator (Vibe Tribe rmx) I remember liking this CD. I do. I also remember getting up early on Saturday to watch cartoons. But I grew up and decided I'd rather sleep in than see what the Smurfs were up to. And I grew out of this. It is the most melodic and over the top stuff I can recall hearing. If it came out today it would no doubt be blasted for being ridiculously cheesy. Not that Vibe Tribe were known for anything else. That said their brand of full on was high paced and appealing. Say what you will their music was constantly changing so at least it was different phrases of melodic cheese. The part in Carousel near the end where the synth sounds like it's laughing is beyond silly. Yet the acid that preceded it was great. I treat Vibe Tribe the same way I treat Dynamic, Perplex, and Alien Project. Disposable projects that first got me interested in this genre of music. A stepping stone if you will. So in that respect I owe them a debt of thanks. But uh, no...I can't listen to this album straight through without a note from my doctor. Mdk
  3. Artist: Brain Damage Title: Waiting For My Angel Label: Utopia Records Date: September, 2007 1. Undertone 2. Waiting for my angel 3. Time energy 4. Transform me 5. Example of the 90' (Album Edition) 6. Beat Box (With Spade) 7. Calculator 8. Dialogue with god 9. Voice "Tonight I will speak directly to these people and make the situation perfectly clear." I'm on the fence with this one. This is Vikenty Shagal and he seems to have found that happy medium in between generic paint by numbers full-on and something more descriptive. Utopia Records (like Spun Records) hasn't been shy about piling on when it comes to full-on. Perplex, Audiotec, Ananda Shake, Phanatic...it's enough to make you wanna toss your cookies. First and foremost, this is full-on. No need to tap dance around it. However it's not totally mindless. There are a few things I like. One, his sound choice was nice in the sense that it wasn't the same crap you hear over and over again. Two, he seemed competent at filling out his tracks with some good work in the breaks. Even the track with Audiotec didn't make me run for the toilet like I just came out of Arby's. That said, it doesn't approach the complexity that is Digicult or Mr. Peculiar or U-Recken. There were some tracks that will make you question what the f*ck you're doing listening to this, but I think we can agree that we have all heard worse. If I had to put a number on it, 3/5. Now is that a reason to keep it? Beatspace Psyshop Saiko Sounds Mdk
