  1. Artist: Talamasca Title: A Brief History of Goa Trance Label: Dacru Records Date: June, 2017 1. A Brief History of Goa Trance Astral Projection 2. A Brief History of Goa Trance Electric Universe 3. A Brief History of Goa Trance Etnica 4. A Brief History of Goa Trance Hallucinogen 5. A Brief History of Goa Trance Juno Reactor 6. A Brief History of Goa Trance Man With No Name 7. A Brief History of Goa Trance Oforia 8. A Brief History of Goa Trance Transwave 9. A Brief History of Goa Trance X-Dream "I live for this moment here." I mean... *sigh* What in the actual f*ck is he doing? I'm trying not to sound like a snobby purist, but how is this anything but sh*tting all over the artists he is said to admire? Calling this a brief history is like comparing the entire works of Mozart to the latest Katy Perry album. Talamasca is CĂ©dric Dassulle and he left any and all of his goa credibility behind him long ago, let's just put that right out front. At this point he's like my bloated orange president with the lies. Remember his album Psychedelic Trance? Me neither cause it was far from it. I can best describe this effort as him taking parts of tracks from the artist he said had influence on him and "full-oning" it until any sense of soul and spirituality has been wrung out of it. Loaded with cliches including cringe inducing triplets and a cornballing of original melodies. It sounds exactly how you think it would. I mean...how in the f*ck do you make the melody from Etnica's Trip Tonite sound like it's full-on cheese regurgitation? How do you do that? Simon Posford is rolling over in his grave for the callous way you neutered LSD. Just because you insert the samples from the originals doesn't mean a connection is forged. This is what Hollywood does to once proud franchises so congratulations. This doesn't make me want to hear this album again. It makes me want to hear the originals to see how it was correctly done. You wanna honor those artists? Either re-learn how to make goa trance or just stay the hell away from their music. Psyshop
  2. Artist: Agrabah Title: Pharaohs of the Galaxy Label: Sita Records Date: June, 2017 1. Visitors 2. Pharaohs of the Galaxy 3. Endless Sunshine 4. The Freeman 5. Destination Moon 6. Schrödinger's Camel 7. A Tale of Blue and Orange 8. Inside the Magic Lamp 9. Cyclamen Anyone else have trouble spelling Pharaohs? It's that f*cking a before o that gets me. All right here's what I know about Sita Records. They don't release a lot of stuff. They are different than the other labels when it comes to goa trance, releasing music that is more nitzhonot or uplifting in nature. Now that may or may not be your thing. I don't know what you're into. Probably some kinky sh*t that you don't want your mom to find out about. Worry not, your secret is safe with me. As I've stated previously it's hard to take Nitzho seriously with all its rampaging melodies and laser kicks. Agneton seems to really enjoy it though. Have you seen his Facebook videos? That dude is hype! Anyhow this up and coming project successfully blends goa and nitzhonot so that it's not a total cheesefest. The album is short coming in at under 60 minutes. Power is there, melodies of course, and I think if there was a soundtrack to Middle East life this might be it. It's hard not to nod your head to this and as usual with this label the sound quality is top notch. I don't know what the bpm's were on Inside the Magic Lamp, but if you're not careful listening to it while driving a ticket could be in your future. Normally I don't like my music moving at the speed of freefall, but this was pretty cool and intense. That said there are tracks where the niztho buildup envelope is pushed almost to the breaking point (Schrodinger's Camel), but those were rare. The wheel wasn't reinvented with this album, but I did enjoy it's pace and the melody work even if sometimes it threatened to go off the rails. Sita Records Bandcamp Psyshop Beatspace
  3. Artist: Jikooha Title: Spacemen Underground Label: Matsuri Digital Date: June, 2017 1. Neo Tokyo Apocalypse 2. Decode Reality 3. Gravity Controller 4. Shamanarchy 5. Shambhala UFO 6. Lemuria 7. Nextgen Odyssey [Jikooha & Asteroidnos] 8. Ecco Weed 9. Mandalavision I hope to go to Japan one day and experience the melding of an ancient culture and a modern metropolis. So many things to see and do. From way over here in the states it seems so foreign and that they aren't afraid to be different. That principle also applies to their goa trance as it doesn't sound like anything currently out there. This duo has been around a long time and they seem to push the boundaries of goa into sometimes loud and abrasive places. Perhaps it's the punk vibe flowing through their veins. It's been five years since their last album Sirius Rising and what do you know this is their fifth album. They open things with an onslaught of analog sounds, thumping beats, and a progressive feel. Neo Tokyo Apocalypse is mostly a positive track, but that vibe doesn't last very long. Decode Reality brings an ominous analog wave pierced with 303 tones as if in warning. It churns and throbs while Gravity Controller oscillates with no less insistence. Not as dark, but still driving. Shamanarchy is tribal and mysterious with intense melodies. Shambala UFO brings guitar into the mix, but merely as a handrail for the electronics yet it's my least favorite track on the album. Lemuria is an addictive track with electric analog sounds pulsing in layers. Nextgen Odyssey has a more groovy and less aggressive feel with ample opportunity for head nodding. Ecco Weed is a more mellow offering that seems to say the album is winding down from its intensity and I believe should've been the final track. But they close with Mandalavision, and the intensity makes a final appearance raising the blood pressure like a new Trump executive order. Their sound is dancing in an underground club until the wee hours of the morning amidst flashing lights and multitudes of colors. Taking a simple melody and twisting it until it becomes hypnotically lush. Before you know it you've sweated through your clothes. As I've mentioned the beat is always heavy and there is an analog presence throughout while adding tribal elements in some tracks. While none of the tracks for me rise to the Etnica/Pleiadians level of detail this was a solid goa trance album and definitely worth the wait. Psyshop

    VA - Lusadelic

Artist: Various artists Title: Lusadelic Label: Woorpz Records Date: 2017, June 9 01. Tryambaka Tryambaka - Underverse 02. Alienn - Gotcha 03. Zinx - Personal Chaos 04. D_Maniac - Unbroken Tradition Unbroken Tradition 05. Lost In Space - Haunted By The Phantasm 06. Demosys - I Can See Sound 07. Juggling - Out Of The Box 08. Myrah - Pink Happiness 09. Psilocybe Project - Mass Media HappyHorse said it best when he said 'Good full-on exists' On that note Woorpz records presents Lusadelic. This compilation is designed for dance floors and those of us that like hard pounding beats, crazy leads and strong acid (synths that is). I'm just going to call this psytrance since it is not... and let me be clear... it is not, like other full-on that i've heard. On that note I have a little Portuguese something something for us all. D-maniac has compiled a list of all Portuguese artists and thrown it onto this compilation which is pretty hot...for your information. The compilation contains a bunch of banger's worth checking out, my favourite of which being - Personal Chaos, Underverse and Pink Happiness. Although not being easy to listen through from start to finish (Lacks variety) I don't think it was designed for such. The first half is probably the most exciting purely because You don't grow bored until about track 6. Luckily Myrah has a unique enough style to offer a fresh breath of air. I would not recommend listening to this one through and through. Take your time, play a few tracks here and there. Relax. Dance. Be free. All in all some good tracks here. Not my usual sub-genre but still A LOT of lead focused tracks going on and plenty of change ups within the songs. Each song has something individually, it's only the compilation as a whole that I would critique. 10/10 would recommend to fans of full-on. 7/10 for the rest of us who want a little something different in our ears. **Edit** I originally reviewed each song, but it didn't feel genuine, Full-on is hard to review individually so I changed it to the album as a whole as it was easier to vibe. https://woorpzrecords.bandcamp.com/album/lusadelic-compiled-by-d-maniac
  5. Artist: Rayavana Title: Exit Human Perception Ep Label: Neogoa Date: June, 2017 01 - Secrets Of Time (155 BPM) 02 - Back From The Future (157 BPM) 03 - Perennial Journey Through The Mind (158 BPM) 04 - Tetra Zod (160 BPM) Neogoa has released their first foray into the high speed niche of nitzhogoa. I'll come right out and level with you that I don't care for this type of music. It's oftentimes cheesy and all the time mentally exhausting. But even though I don't like it I can appreciate it and the fact that a lot of people do like it. And if you're a fan of this particular style then this is a must download. The melodies are typically fast and furious with great sound. I didn't find it particularly deep, but I did like his use of layers. There is a lot of energy here. I think the holy grail for goa freaks who are hesitant to give this music a chance is a nice balance between Nitzho and goa trance. As Antic mentioned the debut album from Agneton fit squarely in this category. This leans more towards the frenetic Nitzho side so hardcore goa heads will probably give it a pass, but it does nitzhogoa very well. Neogoa Bandcamp
