Always ready to deliver some quality progressive trance. I would call this a solid release. Not my favorite, but it's peppered with good tracks and a few great ones. Nothing was bad and I was pleasantly surprised by the Mickey Noise remix which also happened to be my favorite track. Floating and melodic with a pinch of groove. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  2. Artist: Ovnimoon Title: Camanchaca Label: Synergetic Records Date: March, 2006 1. Arcoirs 2. Viaje l sur 3. La India 4. Shamanic Dance on Ayahuaska 5. El arbol arauacano 6. Todos (ovnimoon vs Trancemission vs Mandulk) 7. I love you 8. High nrg (Divinidad rmx) 9. Camanchaca (Reike Pacha mama rmx) Hector's debut album is about as far as you could get from where he is now. His latest Trancemutation of the Mind is melodic and ever changing, but this effort is average at best in my opinion. It's a mixture of downtempo and minimalistic progressive that isn't very memorable. He maintains an air of mystery as well as a tribal feel, but with the exception of the last track it sounds as though he's trying to find a direction for his music. Mdk

  6. Artist: Various Title: Music From Heaven - The Remixes Label: Blue Tunes Recordings Date: November, 2010 1. Music From Heaven (original mix) 2-8. Sh*tty copycat progressive mixes Blood...f*cking boiling... Why in the hell does this continue to occur? A remix album with multiple versions of the same track. Although that is misleading because versions implies that there is something different. It's the same. F*cking. Track. Let's start with the original which sucked in its own right, but that's ok. It's better that way because a talented artist can turn water into wine. Worked out well for Jesus. But I guess all these people are happy drinking from the toilet because it's nothing but boring clones, using the same tricks that have been beaten to death. This isn't a remix album... It's a professional low point. At least I hope it is. I left the room whilst this was in full swing just to see if I missed anything. I did not. Ritmo is Dubi Dagan, a gentleman who has shown he has awesome ability in the progressive trance genre, but unless he's a total Nazi demanding all the remixes sound just like the original, the artists who participated should be ashamed of themselves. I'm no lawyer, but I think with the word remixes in the title this may be a test case for fraud. The awesome sauce was clearly left off this sh*t sandwich. Seven almost identical mixes plus the original or explosive diarrhea? What a choice, it's like a f*cking Chinese finger trap. Do yourself a favor and avoid this limp dicked effort at all costs. Music from Heaven? Think you're going the wrong way pal. Beatport Mdk
  7. Artist: Lyctum Title: Vibrations of Life Label: TesseracT Studio Date: July, 2013 1. Cosmic Web 2. Gravity Loss 3. Atmospheric Probe 4. Voice of the Earth 5. Planet Birth 6. Subatomic 7. Quantum Field 8. Eleven (Lyctum Remix) - The Riddler Haven't been listening to much progressive lately, but this release might change that. Nope, it definitely will. Lyctum is Dejan Jovanovic from Serbia (surprise) and his sophomore album is a melodic tour de force. From the opening track he weaves layers of uplifting melodies soaked in delicious reverb. It's a lush wound that completely captivates the listener, sometimes aggressive sometimes ethereal. Breaks are well placed and bursting with emotion punctuated frequently with chopped up chants and choirs. There is a clear nod to a higher power while at the same time stretching the boundaries of the universe as we know it. The whole thing is less like and album and more akin to an atmospheric tale unfolding in 4/4 time. The entire album is fantastic, but special kudos for out eerie-ing Goran with his remix of Eleven. Highly recommended and brilliant stuff I haven't heard since Shuma by E-Clip. Beatspace Psyshop Mdk
  8. Artist: Zonka Title: Remixes Part II Label: Uxmal Records Date: April, 2011 1. Sideform - Deeper Unity (Zonka Remix) 2. Sideform - Low Rider (Zonka Remix) Someone asked me to throw some bones towards the progressive crowd so here goes. Zonka is the co-founder of Mexican label Uxmal Records and while their progressive isn't on the same level as Iono Music or Tesseract's they do have some great tracks. The first EP of remixes is a perfect example of that. Which leads me to believe that Mr. Zonka should make more music. Or at least produce a few more remixes. He takes two Sideform tracks (neither of which I've heard) and it's magic. This is bubbly and dreamy melodic progressive. Replete with effects to just plunge you into the moment. Groovy and right in my strike zone with zero wasted space. Recommended for a quick progressive shot in the arm. Beatport Mdk
  9. Artist: Mindwave Title: Concept of Freedom Label: Iono Music Date: April, 2012 1. Intro 2. Light of loss 3. Simple Moves 4. Guiding Voice 5. Within You 6. Levity 7. New Day 8. Underwater 9. Concept of freedom 10. Deepest Thoughts "Freedom is not something that we easily understand." Sometimes you're just in the mood for a little progressive. No, that's Progresso soup. Most tender chicken ever? It is getting colder here and that sounds delicious. When I need my progressive trance fix I turn to the leader of the pack Iono Music who very rarely let me down. This is Anton Maiko, yet another Russian residing in Israel. It's like Russia south down there. The Israeli vodka machine must be working overtime. With his third album he delivers the kind of tunes that are right in my strike zone. Flowing melodic stuff that makes you wiggle in the middle. Simple Moves dwells in the clouds, but still retains its big bottom end. New Day brings a feeling of hope with great effects. Female vocals in several tracks give the music a dreamlike spiritual gravitas. But all the tracks have that lush appeal that mark an Iono release. Washes, punchy bass lines, reverb, and delay set to 11. Yep the gang's all here. If you want to drift away this is your ticket. Hell yeah this is recommended. It's one of the best progressive releases I've heard in a while. Beatspace Psyshop Mdk
  10. Artist: Sunstryk Title: Ascending Soul EP Label: Plusquam Date: April, 2012 1. Ascending Soul 2. Ascending Soul (Ovnimoon Remix) "I'm not afraid of dying..." Yeah that's how I feel. Take an average track, give it to Hector and he Ovnimoons it. The original was bare and laid back, but the remix was more aggressive. That's what he does. Even that didn't make me jump out of my seat though. Not bad, just...meh. Beatport
  11. Artist: Ritmo & Egorythmia Title: Spin It Remixes EP Label: Iono Music Date: October, 2012 1. Spin It 2. Spin It (Gaudium Remix) 3. Spin It (Lish Remix) Thank you. Thank you gentlemen for including the original track on this brief Ep of remixes. Also thank you for keeping it brief. Nothing makes me want to punch babies more than an entire album of remixes of 1 track. But back to the first point it's such a pain in the ass trying to find the original track when comparing remixes. Starbucks might have a f*ckload of flavors, but I'm pretty sure they still stock regular coffee. Sure, those elitist pricks probably charge you twice the price for it. Go to Dunkin Donuts, my Dad swears by their coffee. 7-11 surprisingly is no longer just a place for week old hot dogs that may or may not have fallen on the floor repeatedly as they have good coffee also. So the original was pretty good progressive trance in the Iono mold of huge melodies and a thorough reverb soaking. The Gaudium remix has a refreshing big beat during the break, but is otherwise unremarkable. Good, but nothing to write home about. The Lish remix feels fuller so I guess he out-Ionoe'd the rest. This is what it feels like when I explain the definition of remix. Hello? Hello, is this thing on? You're hearing me, but you're not listening. They are good tracks to be sure, but in my opinion it fails as a remix ep for the same reason most of the remix ep's do. It's the same f*cking track. Grow some nuts and think outside the box. If I wanted 3 almost identical tracks I'm pretty sure my music player has a repeat function. Beatport Mdk

  13. Artist: Various Title: Sideffect Label: Psynews Date: July, 2013 01 - Paul Eye & Olisan - Daikaisho (132 BPM) 02 - Hierophant - Intergalactic Love Song (133 BPM) 03 - Zero Point Module - Chromatic Fail (147 BPM) 04 - Kacid - Confusing Patterns (148 BPM) 05 - Saluberrimae - Fl0ating (120 BPM) 06 - Radioactive Sandwich - Sound Vibration Technique (75 BPM) 07 - Seismic Activity - Revelation (140 BPM) 08 - Imba - Moon Tribe (142 BPM) 09 - Lapsus - Normality (147 BPM) 10 - PhonoPhora - Phunnel (Version 1.1) (87 BPM) I didn't really know Koen. Spoke to him a few times and the conversations were always pleasant. But when you're used to "seeing" somebody as active as he was in the Psynews forum suddenly...not be there...it's a shock. I don't know the details of his passing nor do I feel I should. All I can hope for is that he found peace wherever he is. As the promo says this was a contest where members of the Psynews community submitted tracks in a bid to be featured on a compilation. I don't know if this was always planned to be dedicated to Koen or not, but it's a nice gesture and one I imagine he would have appreciated. Voted on by the community this is the result. Mastered by Deimos and artwork by Gasolin3, it's ten tracks of varying bpm's and numerous genres. Daikaisho- The first track is a gentle progressive trance number that is a nice opener and helps to ease you into this compilation. Soft melodies and bubbling sounds. Intergalactic Love Song- Didn't Stone Temple Pilots have a hit with...oh, that was Interstate. So obviously we're going bigger. Strong beat and smooth electric piano with long sweeps make this a pumping progressive track. Chromatic Fail- A galloping futuristic darkish track with metallic leads. Not bad. Confusing Patterns- Really like the deep bass line, it's got quite the rumble. It's a forest track with a lush atmospheric feel. Sticky synth sounds abound as the sound manipulation moves full force. Two really good breaks as well. What are they saying? Fl0ating- Smooth and oscillating downtempo that has spiraling leads in a goa fashion. The break felt organic when all the synths dropped out, nice touch. Sound Vibration Technique- And now a track by the very busy Sandwich! Dubby vibes slowly make their way across a picturesque beach. Strings are plucked, vocals are chopped...It'll keep your head nodding. Revelation- Good goa trance track that twists the cutoff knob for all it's worth. Once it gets going it's pretty powerful. Moon Tribe- I believe Imba was the winner of this contest. With this track he stokes the conspiracy fire as the sample about UFO's plays out. Normality- Lapsus delivers the best track of the compilation with a shimmery and ominous effort. Most aggressive also. Very cosmic and one that will hurtle you through hyperspace. Phunnel (Version 1.1)- Closing the compilation is a downtempo track that morphs into a deep trance track. Also very dreamy as the dance of the galaxy marches on. I didn't feel it was proper to crack jokes on a compilation that was meant to be reverential. Just didn't feel right. This is a nice gesture to honor a member of our community. While not the strongest compilation you will hear it shows how much talent is on this forum. With almost an hour and a half of music tracks from different genres are well represented and as a member of this forum I'm happy to have given this a listen. I hope you enjoyed it Koen. 15. Artist: Lifeforms Title: Reanimation EP Label: Iono Music Date: July, 2013 1. Reanimation 2. Dream Catcher 3. Equinox "Careful when you hit it...it kicks like a twelve gauge when it comes on." Man this looks familiar. I don't even know why Iono has different artist names. I think the label is really just a master computer with an Artist Name Generator app (now available on iPhone.) Reason I say this is because no matter which artist releases an album or EP it's always the same type of homogenous, wide open, melodic progressive trance. Beautiful stuff to be certain and this is no exception. Floating melodies, great effects, and futuristic atmospheres are the hallmarks of this release. Well, all their releases really. The only complaint I suppose could be that it's the same great sounding stuff over and over again. But that's silly. Let me know when you get tired of staring at these. Beatport Mdk
  16. Artist: Various Title: Sideform - Web of Life Remixes Label: TesseracT Studio Date: December, 2011 1. Web of Life (Float Remix) 2. Web of Life (Original) 3. Web of Life (Relativ Remix) 4. Web of Life (Flegma Remix) 5. Web of Life (Lyctum Remix) 6. Web of Life (Ovnimoon Remix) NSFW Image Ok maybe that's a little too far. But...you did f*ck up though...right? Do you even know what the word remix means? Galloping bass line or machine gun bass line it's the same.fucking.track. It's disposable...you chew it up and spit it out ready to devour the next clone. I realize that the artists doing the remixing are progressive artists, but show a little backbone and think outside the 4/4 box. The tracks themselves are good progressive tunes (Flegma and Ovnimoon especially so), but it sounds like they just rearranged the order of the patches on their software. That is the definition of samey. And when you string together 6 tracks that all sound the same I'm staking out my position on that clock tower and taking aim. Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic didn't save anybody. Beatport Mdk
  17. Artist: Various Title: Sideform - The Remixes EP Label: YSE Date: September, 2012 1. Psychedelic Future (Phaxe Remix) 2. Chameleon (Nerso Remix) 3. 7th Sense (Side Effects Remix) 4. Eastern Fantasy (Lyctum Remix) No chair can contain this! Way to go YSE! You know I didn't think you had it in ya, but there you are delivering a 4 track ep of danceable progressive remixes. At least it's four different tracks remixed instead of the nightmarish Way of Life remix album. But that's a story for another time. The creme de la creme of progressive trance put their best foot forward with uplifting melodies, floating breaks and chair leaving dance grooves. Layers get stacked as the reverberating tales unfold. It's a darker and more wide open style of melodic progressive trance that I can't get enough of. None of the original tracks are here so these artists no own the results. I've gone back and forth on whether the originals should be included, but I think it's best that they aren't. Like melodic progressive? Get this. Beatport Mdk

  19. Artist: Xervana Title: Unreleased Tracks 2001-2004 Label: Self Released Date: 2010 1. Falling Up 2. Another Universe 3. Part of Imagination 4. Boundless Energy 5. Angel of Death 6. Turn Home 7. Solitude 8. Human Stupidity 9. Fall of Mankind "Terror that has no name. Terror that must not be named." Samples From a Virtual Life was a great old school goa trance album and this is clearly not that. Times change. People change. According to Discogs he rarely makes electronic music anymore so this might be the last we hear of Olof. But releasing some stuff for free is a very nice gesture. The first four tracks are similar to the monotonous sounds of the early 2000's however. Progressive / psy stuff that seems to go on too long. Some have female wailing on them, but they don't come close to his debut album. Turn Home and Solitude were very melodic and had a pumping sound with a very trance like break. Ferry Corsten esque that makes me smile. Angel of Death and Human Stupidity clings to his former goa greatness as he messes around with some break beats. One thing I will say, he was very good at creating atmosphere with the breaks, even here. I can't tell if it was the time period and everyone sounded like this or he just said f*ck it. The website where you could get these tracks isn't responding so unless you know him or someone wants to share I don't know how you would get these. All of the tracks were uploaded in sub 320kbps quality so couple that with the fact that they are less than remarkable and you ain't missing much. You can find a couple of them on YouTube, but what was more striking was other tracks labeled as unreleased which sounded WAY better than what was on this release. Wicked Cosmos anyone? Perhaps a comeback in the making? Mdk
  20. Artist: Various Title: Progressive Request Label: Uxmal Records Date: August, 2011 1. First Days ABSTRACT SUNRISE 2. Kailash SUDUAYA 3. Remix Yourself BADBUG 4. From Human Blood CYKLONES 5. Ipanema NATURAL NOTES 6. New Mysteries MEANDER AND RIDDEN 7. Super Heroes SENSIFEEL 8. Orion Smoke SUBSISTENCE 9. Levitator STRATIL "Some individuals it's true are more special...this is natural selection." Very true. The cream rises to the top and that also holds true with music and the labels that release it. While Iono and TesseracT occupy the penthouse of progressive music, Uxmal is fighting with the balding security guard in the lobby. Nothing personal of course, but as of yet none of their releases have set my hair on fire. Well welcome to the east side cause you're movin' on up! Kinda. At least your rental application has been received. This label from Mexico has discovered the winning formula with drifting melodies and smooth atmosphere. The tracks are soft and comfortable perfectly content to act like warm blanket fresh from the dryer. Best track? The Suduaya effort is delicious. Now, this is not to say they are ready for the big time. In the past I found that a lot of tracks on Uxmal compilations droned on without much evolution. They'd find a melody and groove and ride it out to a mostly boring conclusion. From Human Blood is a let down while Super Heroes is signigicantly less super. So there are a few tracks that see the label slipping into old and unfortunately comfortable habits. Because of that I can't recommend this as there is better progressive out there. But at least they're trying right? Progressive Request? Ok, I request you make better progressive. Psyshop Goa Store Mdk
  21. Artist: Various Title: True Blood Label: Synergetic Records Date: November, 2012 1. Extasy Effect - SIDEFORM VS ZYCE 2. Ancient Groove (Pop Art rmx) - LYCTUM 3. Mentality - MINDWAVE 4. Twilight (Atomic Pulse rmx) - ULTRAVOICE 5. Ocean of compassion - ELEGY 6. Forest Lights (AtomiCulture rmx) - AQUAFEEL 7. Human Touch - AVSHI 8. Alundra - LUPIN 9. Long Arrangement - ECHOTEK 10. Sicilian Vendetta - SUNSTRYK Labels like Synergetic, Prog On Syndicate, and TesseracT Studio are the new regime in progressive music. Melodic and floaty and sometimes so sickeningly sweet you need a sugar detox. Synergetic is based in Germany and this compilation was put together by...no way. You gotta be f*cking kidding me. True Blood. With a picture of a white horse. Compiled by Herr Sunstryk. Nobody at Synergetic thought this might be a tad...offensive? Why not just put a picture of Auschwitz on the cover? Ok, ok calm down Mike. Let's not jump to conclusions. No matter how hard I try I can't find the swastika anywhere on this thing so it might just be a white horse. Still a little sensitivity goes a long way. Let it go. It's just a horse. A very beautiful and powerful animal. I can't stop looking at it...so strong...I just want to...so pure... NOT THIS TIME YOU NEO NAZI HORSE F*CKERS!! I'm pretty sure that the folks at Synergetic are not neo nazi horse f*ckers and let's face it, it's the music that matters, right? So let's see what they've corralled for this progressive journey. Extacy Effect- You would be hard pressed to find a compilation Zyce wasn't on and his team-up here with Sideform is just how I described progressive trance from this label. Bouncy and drifting. Good opener. Ancient Groove (Pop Art Remix)- Pop Art's album tasted like a sh*t sandwich to me but sometimes artists do their best work on compilations. From Lyctum's Ancient Groove EP the best thing I can say is that it didn't blow chunks. Nowhere near as good as the original, but that's what happens when you remove all traces of atmosphere. Mentality- "There is no such thing as fate or destiny." Crisp kicks and echoing effects make this one enjoyable. The slow groove escorted by the chopped synths is very appealing. Twilight (Atomic Pulse Remix)- This is from the Perplex album Reunion and is part of the sugary sweet "trance" I was talking about. I think this is the full-on he does with the bpm's ticked down a notch. Ugh, it's making my head hurt. What's that smell? Ocean of Compassion- "There was another outflowing of the ocean of compassion..." Funny that this is the title of one of the tracks horse f*ckers. Where was that compassion when Hitler started deep frying jews all across Europe? Sorry, sorry...I said I would let it go. I liked the EP he had on Ektoplazm as it showed his skill at making a detailed track. He had an album that was put out on Ovnimoon recently that I haven't heard yet called Imaginarium. This one is like the opening track, more drifting in style. Not many twists or turns, just steady. Forest Lights (Atomic Culture Remix)- Protoculture + Atomic Pulse. Any guess where this is headed? First class ticket to terrible town. Human Touch- This guy's work with Osher on the Desert Trip EP was top notch and he easily earns the best track award on this compilation. It pulsates with life and is actually interesting. Alundra- I've never heard of Lupin, but this track made me take notice. Atmospheric and effect heavy the female vocal added a bit of mystery to an already fine track. Long Arrangement- Michah changes time signatures here a few times. It's a pretty good track with more of a hard edge, but it sounds like a lot of progressive stuff you have already heard. Fairly aimless. Sicilian Vendetta- Herr Sunstyk breaks out the echoing samples for the longest track on the compilation. It reminded me of that Seinfeld episode where they were pitching a sitcom that was literally about nothing. What did this have to do with Sicilians and their vendetta again? This was a weak effort. Forget the cover and what may or may not be subliminally insinuated the music here was forgettable. Not much stood out and most of these tracks seemed like stuff the artists had lying around. Stuff they could give to make rent. The only thing missing was the word GOA on the cover. You can do a lot better for your progressive fix. Psyshop Beatspace Goastore Mdk
  22. Artist: Phaxe Title: Calm Under Pressure Label: Iboga Records Date: May, 2013 1. Presentation 2. Angels of destruction 3. Kondi 4. It's always sunny (vs Vice) 5. Disturbed 6. The Witness (Phaxe and Pras rmx) - KRUEGER AND COYLE 7. Jellyhead (vs Morton Granau) 8. Drums and Guns 9. Unforgotten "Some confusion is perfectly normal at this stage captain." Phaxe is Kevin Josefsen and after going the EP route and appearing on a bunch of compilations he's ready to release his debut full length album. Lately the progressive arena has been owned by those crazy talented Balkan folks so Kevin needs to bring his A game. Does he win a date with the head cheerleader or is he destined to watch his pants get rung up the flagpole? Bit of a mixed bag really. Or so I thought. While not captain of the chess club, he's certainly not the quarterback of the football team. However I think that has more to do with the Iboga playbook than anything else. Their style is more beat driven compared to the lush, melodic atmosphere if say an Iono or TesseracT Studio. Presentation is a vivid opener with good bounce, but then the next few tracks don't live up to the hype. Not a lot of variation and they seem a little light. That said there were still hypnotic snippets to be found in Angels of Destruction. It's always sunny, has a great break, but it also has that silencer sound which annoys me. So at this point I'm thinking it's a decent release without making room for it on my CD shelf, but then the moody and beautiful Disturbed happens. Details so vivid I can taste it with a voice telling me to let myself go, drifting along, close my eyes...and let myself drift. Wonderful structure! The Witness continues the vibe with a wailing synth and chopped strings before a chant is repeated. The whole thing has an eerie tribal feel kinda like you think you're witnessing something benign, but then by the time you realize it's turning on you it's too late. Jellyhead pushes you further down this dark hole, but don't worry...he gives you a funky synth riff to help you climb out. He puts it all together with light and dark moments as well as another entertaining break. Guns and Drums brings more surprises with a bouncy feel and appealing melodies that all fit well together without overloading the ear. Closing with Unforgotten it's a positive ending with light melodies and a soothing hand. This is me being pleasantly surprised. After the first track I had my doubts, but then he kicked it into overdrive. Progressively speaking that is. Very rhythmic and detailed with a danceable swagger. It comes full circle as the beginning is positive and uplifting before he steers you towards the dark side of town only to bring you back into the light with the last track. A solid release that brings a smile to my face and it should do the same for melodic progressive trance lovers as well. Psyshop Beatspace Goastore Mdk
  23. Artist: Talpa Title: White Clouds EP Label: TesseracTstudio Date: April, 2013 1. White Clouds - Talpa 2. Spirits (Talpa Remix) - Zyce 3. Unimation (Talpa Remix) - Zyce & Nerso Goran continues to impress with his music. Whether he's producing as Talpa or The Riddler his attention to detail has always been something to look forward to. This EP is released on the progressive label TesseracT so you know what to expect. White Clouds has dreamy elements combined with the electronic throat clearing of almost dubstep in a very positive track. It's uplifting and wiggle inducing. The remix of Spirits is a long, unwinding bit of progressive trance that I would expect more from Zyce than Talpa. Groovy no doubt, but unexpected. Unimation is the final track and it is another remix that doesn't sound anything like Talpa. Great, but who is this guy? Let me say that I enjoyed this release for its melodic and drifting content. It's a perfect fit for the label and expresses their style very well. But this doesn't sound like Talpa. It sounds like every other Balkan making progressive trance. Quality of course, but nothing like the guy who gave us The Art of Being Non. His style under the Talpa moniker has been trending less towards psychedelia and more in the direction of something softer and less challenging. And that's what you get here. Good progressive trance that is melodic and uplifting. But it's not Talpa. Talpa doesn't make that music. If The Riddler is his funky project and Talpa was his psychedelic endeavor, then maybe he needs a new alias if he's gonna make music like this. Recommended for melodic progressive trancers. 24. Artist: Querox Title: How Life Goes On Label: Prog On Syndicate Date: July, 2012 1. Dirty Beat Drop 2. Dancing Angel 3. Go Now 4. Berlin Soundtrack 5. Backstage Girls (feat Monod) 6. Kiss the ground (Voice:Rea) 7. Say Goodbye 8. How life goes on 9. Fly Away (Querox rmx) - Phaxe I love the letter q. Can't have quiet without it. And how would you get any answers if you couldn't ask any questions? And what the f*ck would ducks say? I think you spell qu'ran with a q, so without it billions would have to get a new holy book. May I suggest something from the works of a Dr. Seuss. It rhymes. Which brings me to a project that begins with a q. Querox is Tobyjas Schiermeier with his debut on a label that is no stranger to quality progressive trance. There is a light feel to this style. Sometimes it comes across as a little thin, but at the same time it can be appealing. Can't be a melodic orgy all the time can it? He doesn't bore you to death with solely a minimal approach, but allows effects and melodies to germinate in their own time. He flirts with progressive house, but not enough to make me wanna hurl the disc out the window. And believe me that first track tested my restraint. Most tracks eventually become fairly detailed progressive and it's interesting to see how he gets there. Somewhat similar to the mutE or Midimal style I love the fine details he put inside and think it works great on headphones. One of the strengths of the album are ther dreamy breaks. He's very good at it. Of particular note was the euphoric title track that was so juicy you could taste it. If I had to pick a problem area it's that the middle of the album is weak, with 5 or so tracks sounding very similar. This isn't going to rock the floor or shake any speakers, but it's an interesting hybrid of minimal and progressive styles that doesn't have its feet solidly planted in either. 25. Artist: The Riddler Title: From Myst to Twist Label: TesseracTstudio Date: December, 2012 1. Never heard of it 2. Christmas Burglary 3. Randomizer 4. Eleven 5. Slumber Party (The Riddler rmx) - Talpa 6. Blue 7. Hunted 8. A pocket full of smiles 9. Popularity Contest 10. You R my star Questions. I haz dem. How did the US let Mexico surpass us in adult obesity? That was our thing man! Where else can you get a fried coke but in America? We need to start thinking outside the box to get our mojo back. I say let's put underperforming students in the deep fryer. Nothing motivates like the threat of extra crispy. Why are Egyptians so good at protesting yet so sh*tty at democracy? Jim Carey. What the hell does the queen of England actually do? Besides putting a dent in the royal budget with Depends undergarment purchases? But mainly the debut album from Goran as The Riddler. Setting the progressive trance world on fire with his mixture of eerie melodies and funky beats he's right back at it with his second release. Which leads me to my next two questions. Where the hell was the publicity on this one and could he strike gold yet again? The answer to that is a resounding yes. This is The Art of Non on Friday night looking to get lucky. The spooky movie melodies continue to flow over hypnotic grooves that force the toe to keep tapping. Part of the appeal is that he keeps it fresh with short tracks. Only two are over six minutes which doesn't allow for boredom to set in. I've mentioned this before, but the mood is Tim Burtonesque...on ecstasy. Like Stella Goran got his groove back with basses that will punish a subwoofer. Perhaps this is more closely related to progressive house without the cheese, it still excels in making the music fun. He even goes a little disco on you in a couple of tracks. That said it doesn't rival the feeling I got when I heard Questions. Some of the tracks are a little weaker and seem like filler. I could see where some might call it Questions Vol. 2 with tracks that didn't make the cut for the debut. But there is surely enough here for a good time. Recommended. Psyshop Beatspace Goastore Mdk
