  1. Excuse the noobishness, also posted this link in the Free music section as it was a bit misleading. Here's a link to my Tswaing Crater Mix set, doing well on the Mixcloud charts at 12 and 19: https://www.mixcloud.com/DJChrisPalmer/chris-palmer-crater-2015-psy-set/ Hope you enjoy it! The tracklist is on Mixcloud.
  2. Hello mates I like to introduce you into my Live Project "Payne". First of all here's a little Bio about myself. "In the age of 14 Marcel started with mixing different music genres like minimal, electro and drum and bass. Then 2012, when he was 19 he decided to get deeper into the sound and he started mixxing progressive trance. From 2013 he's working on his own sound, also DJing around with a dirty progressive style." You can find my Livetracks here: https://soundcloud.com/payneprogressive please let me know what you think about my work. Have a nice Day
  3. Artist: Algae Bloom Title: The Blossom Label: Sun Station Records Date: November, 2013 01 - Stop Thinking (130 BPM) 02 - Nothing Is Static (130 BPM) 03 - Healing Drum (with Stereofeld) (132 BPM) 04 - Cloud Walker (130 BPM) 05 - String Theory (130 BPM) 06 - Everyone Is Invited (128 BPM) 07 - Alga Tinge (130 BPM) 08 - Thank You (130 BPM) 09 - Weirderer (132 BPM) I listen to a lot of stuff, but there is no way I can get to it all. That's why recommendations are so helpful. I would've walked right past this release if a kind soul hadn't asked me to give it a listen. Thank you kind soul. Because this is one release you shouldn't miss. Ukrainian Max Kurushyn has delivered something special here he refers to as daypsy. The progressive trance is very detailed and melodic not unlike something you would find from the major labels. There is no wasted space just sounds in every measure that surround you like a warm blanket. Danceable at times with some tactile layering. I would say it's an album that doesn't have any tracks that are head and shoulders above the rest or ones that you'll never forget, but the overall quality and depth is extremely high. The flow is continuous with well timed breaks that are lush and organic. This is one of those albums that I'll put on with the intention of listening to one or two tracks and the next thing you know I'm sucked into digesting the whole album. Again. Like progressive trance? You need to hear this. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  4. Artist: E-Mantra Title: Echoes From the Void Label: Altar Records Date: November, 2014 1. Echoes From the Void 2. Everything Ends 3. Snow Began To Fall 4. E-Mantra & Reasonandu - Words You Said 5. Stillness of Dawn 6. Sundial Aeon - Drifting Radio Frequencies (E-Mantra Remix) 7. Moon Drifter 8. Night Hex - Invocation 9. Shivers Art. You painted a f*cking soup can. Good for you. I can go to Food Lion and see six pallets of those. That's just my 2 cents. Drugs are bad, okay? Still think that last tab of acid was a good idea? But at least your shoes are pink so...awareness and sh*t. Ho-lee-sh*t. You just painted a picture of your dirty feet. How many millions did that sell for? These are just a few examples of why you can't judge what is art and what isn't. Eye of the beholder. Even though the above are just some random examples and seem ridiculous to me I am not the end all and be all of opinions. Like you I have one and it's no more or less accurate than yours. Well, maybe yours (points to guy with the dirty feet.) Take a shower man this ain't Woodstock. Art is subjective. And artists regardless of medium tend to be some odd f*ckers. Might be what sets them apart from the rest of the normals. I imagine Emmanuel is no different. Don't know him, but what I do know is that in his chosen medium he can do no wrong. Having already conquered goa he has almost done the same to psychill. Echoes From the Void is his fourth album in the downtempo genre and surprise surprise he explores new territory. The first half of the album is an ambient experience exploring mystical soundscapes. Ideal for waking up early and catching the rising sun from atop some lofty snow capped peak. Which is what I would've done if I didn't have kids. Floating voices soar and echo above warm pads as he slowly brings you along. Measured break beats keep the tempo whilst hypnotic melodies lull you into a dream state. Words You Said is the first surprise being more uplifting than his usual moody downtempo style. The second half of the album is progressive trance with a few showcasing the goa style we have come to expect from this artist. His Nighthex alias in particular produced a very enjoyable track. E-mantra is goa trance first and foremost, but he has also proven himself in the downtempo and ambient genre. With this album he explores the progressive arena with fine results. He's an artist that I hope continues to stretch his creative imagination as we the listeners will all be the better for it. Highly recommended to add to your E-mantra collection. Altar Bandcamp Mdk
  5. Artist: Ascent Title: I Will Fly Again Label: Goa Records Date: January, 2013 1. Purple Moon 2. Himalayas 3. Sense of Touch 4. Mystical Forest 5. Tear Drops (feat. Sideeffected) 6. When The Night Comes I don't have my finger on the pulse of the psytrance scene. I've never attended a party or met an artist or DJ. I have read Mushroom Magazine a couple of times, but there was a lot of words and half of it was in Dutch and I got bored. I prefer to let the music speak to me. This is after all "trance" in various forms so it should capture my attention and take me to another place. And this guy continues to do this. Ascent is Bojan Stojiljkovic abd he has released a bunch of EP's that I am sorting through as well as numerous albums. And so far everything I've heard has been magical. Transformative. Conscious raising. Whether it's progressive trance or downtempo and ambient with his brother Argus the detail captivates. Lush is an understatement and he does so much with simple bass lines. The melodies are gentle and comforting and can be uplifting or ominous. And a surefire way to hook me? Give your music a bit of goa flavor. I imagine progressive is approaching the saturation point where it becomes a punch line much the same way full-on did. Where so much of it was being produced that it all began to sound the same. Eyes would roll and groans would sound. Maybe. Like I said I don't have the word on the street, but as long as beautiful music like this is being created I'm still gonna listen. Go ahead...make fun of me and roll your eyes. I can take it. Psyshop Beatport Mdk
  6. Artist: Ascent Title: Colored Reality EP Label: Ovnimoon Records Date: April, 2013 1. Happiness 2. Lights 3. Imagination 4. Progressive Dream This is my second experience with this artist and it just keeps getting better. Or maintains it's current level of awesomeness. His brand of psy-gressive is glorious and fits well with the Ovnimoon style. If you're a fan of the layered melodic progressive trance that's floating around these days then you'll love this. The atmospheric value is off the charts and it's loaded with sounds to give it depth. Iono? Nope. Ovnimoon. I hope you're paying attention to this label because they are releasing top quality music at a rapid pace. This is no exception. Think of them like Mcdonald's except they're serving up real meat. 7. Artist: Ascent Title: Inside the Forest EP Label: Tandava Records Date: November, 2013 1. Heavy Clouds 2. Liquid Meadow 3. Purple Elves I know I'm not as active as I used to be. As a father of two I have other responsibilities so spoon feeding you wisdom and comedy has unfortunately tumbled down the priority ladder like Mr. Glass in Unbreakable. But that doesn't mean I've stopped listening to our music. Just can't review everything I hear. Someone's gotta put dinner on the table, do the laundry, clean the house, and make sure the kids don't die. So when I came across this guy I simply had to write about it. Ascent is Bojan Stojiljkovic and with a name like that I'm guessing he's from psytrance promised land otherwise known as the Balkan region. Don't quote me on that though I've been wrong before. This three track EP has made me thirsty for more. Much more. He straddles the line between progressive and psy like Ovnimoon. Each track is detailed to overflowing involving the listener in his story. Big time entrancement with a gloomy atmosphere. Seems like everyone is doing progressive these days and it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. But this guy is doing it right. I can't wait to listen to more of his melodic and moody stuff. Now if you'll excuse me I think I hear Dr. Phil calling my name. *Grabs bag of chips, steps over two growing piles of laundry, and settles in to couch groove* Beatport Mdk
  8. Artist: Various Title: Vertex - Earth Remixes Label: TesseracT Studio Date: November, 2013 1. Joy of Silence (Suduaya Rmx) 2. Elements On Earth (Human Element Rmx) 3. Faith (Subliminal Codes Rmx) 4. Enlightenment (Aquafeel Rmx) 5. Surface (Midimal Rmx) 6. Out of Orbit (Side Effects Rmx) 7. Second Element (Nerso Rmx) 8. Out of Obit (Lyctum Rmx) "What you're trying to do as an artist is to have an experience that is worth sharing...and download it into another person's consciousness." The first time I played their debut album Ocean I was blown away by the smooth and intricate progressive sounds. Layers of relaxation just hoisted atop one another. With their sophomore album Earth they continued right where they left off. A few EP's were later released, but they didn't move me like the albums did. Prepare to be moved. Vertex are Zyce and Merlin and they comprise a Serbian powerhouse of melodic progressive trance and have some tracks from their second album remixed by a who's who in progressive trance. Suduaya begs you to let the crashing surf tickle your toes in the sunshine with a slick downtempo interpretation of the Joy of Silence. The Human Element prepares you for drift off with heavily reverberated vocals and warm sensations. Subliminal Code picks up the pace with sharp lead stabs, but doesn't disturb the groove. The Aquafeel remix let's you settle into your favorite easy chair with a hypnotic sound as Midimal sets up a house feel with a pillowy soft kick that is perfect for dreaming. The track Out of Orbit appears twice here and both remixes are top notch layer intensive experiences. Very atmospheric. Nerso returns to top form with a stunning remix that sounded perfect to these ears. Juicy, undulating, brooding... I took this album at face value. Didn't go back and listen to the originals to see if they were dramatically different...just settled in for a melodic progressive ride. And what a dreamy journey it was. The album works great whether you pick out individual tracks or just hit play. TesseracT can be very proud of this release. Highly recommended. Psyshop Mdk
  9. Artist: Side Effects Title: City On Mars Label: Iono Music Date: March, 2010 1. City on Mars 2. Ace Ventura - Serenity Now (Side Effects rmx) 3. Paranoia (Side Effects rmx) 4. Thunder In Paradise 5. Landscapes of imaginations 6. Liquid Soul - Push (Side Effects rmx) 7. Dream On 8. Fantasy (feat. Lyctum) 9. The Second LSDeep (Sideform rmx) Ouch. This one's gonna ding the average. If I'm Iono I drop these guys like a bad habit before he brings your whole gpa down. I'm surprised at you Iono. "We don't know what we're dealing with here!" I'm with you on that one. This isn't the dreamy, floaty stuff I'm used to from the Side Effects duo. Or from Iono in general. It's more aggressive and has that annoying commercial sound found in most full-on. There are loads of stupid samples, triplet bass lines, and plenty of the overused tricks that infect today's progressive trance. Which is kinda sad because I've heard way better stuff from these guys. Look me in the eye and tell me you didn't mail this sh*t in. Don't think you can do it. There are parts of the tracks I really enjoy, but you gotta get through the not so great stuff to find them. And there is a lot of not so great stuff. Normally I'm on board with whatever Iono throws at me, but I just couldn't connect with this. There is much better progressive out there. Someone get the light when you close that door to Mars Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  10. Artist: TRD Title: Apostles of the Universe EP Label: Chaitra Records Date: February, 2014 01 - Forgotten Paths (115 BPM) 02 - Apostles Of the Universe (140 BPM) 03 - Redeem (140 BPM) 04 - Resurrect (115/145 BPM) 05 - Spiritualization (140 BPM) 06 - Cotton Haze (80 BPM) Where is the f*cking toilet? I listen to a f*ckton of music. Absolute f*ckton. Everyday. Whenever I can. While I'm making dinner or dropping some kids off at the pool, my headphones are never out of reach. I've been reviewing albums for a long time so does that mean I've gotten better at distinguishing the wheat from the chaff? I'll leave that up to you, but if you do something long enough you should eventually get rather proficient at it. Don't know a thing about brain surgery, but give me a decade of daily study and I'll have you drooling in no time. But what if you nailed it on your first try? No med school, no residency, you just picked up a scalpel and signed your name on somebody's medulla oblongata? Yep that's some ol Doogie Howser sh*t right there. Legen...wait for it...dary. Well that's what this kid did. And yes I called him a kid cause at 21 years of age that's what you are to me. The debut from Swede Par Carlsson (extra s added for "superb") is lush with melodic layers and bursting with atmosphere. It's crystal clear sound is your guide for a trip through the galaxy. His breaks are deep and rich and keep the tracks fresh and vibrant while his use of percussion makes it stand out. Robotic voices and a cold feel drive home the theme that you are about to go where no man has gone before. Beautiful. Electronic. Music. Normally I'd avoid anything with a morning label on it because it just ain't my bag baby. But this is a must hear. We got ourselves a prodigy and the doctor is definitely in. Colin Oood on the master again and he did a bang up job. Give him a shout he might hook you up with the penis lengthening thing you wanted. It'll keep the girls from pointing at your junk and laughing. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

  14. Artist: Various Title: Forensic Science Vol. 2 Label: Iono Music Date: January, 2014 1. Sad Paradise - Super Junkie 2. Skyfall - Triplet 3. Ritmo - The Way We Are (Lifeforms Remix) 4. Zyce & Aquafeel - I Am The Sunlight 5. Ace Ventura & Darma - Acidcore (Egorythmia Remix) 6. Darma - Paradigma 7. Roger Rabbit - Single Snapshot 8. Egorythmia & E-Clip - Time Travellers 9. Sonic Entity - Mental Universe "There is more to reality than meets the normal eye." I'll always have a soft spot for Iono. No, that's not it. That either, look stop touching me. Just...stay over there before I have to get human resources involved. Iono has been top dog for quite awhile in the lush melodic progressive market very rarely taking a misstep. Their music doesn't just make you want to dance...it involves you. Catches you up in a detailed vortex as effects resonate at every turn. It really is all about atmosphere with this label and in particular this compilation. When you call out the forensics team it means a terrible crime has been committed. So not really the time for light heartedness. Some of the tracks pack a heavier punch resembling psytrance more than progressive, but they all have one thing in common. The rich compositions take you from your world to their dark and intricate one. As usual it's melodic and effects heavy with the overall vibe of malice lurking in the shadows. The music breathes and crackles with futuristic energy. Zero bad tracks and an experience that is greater on a full listen through. Several other labels have challenged their supremacy recently perhaps sensing the old dog could no longer hunt. But with this outstanding release the rumors of Iono's demise have been greatly exaggerated. The names may change, but the quality remains the same. Highly recommended. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  15. Out Now! 1. Mental Atmosphere 2. 5am (2014 Rework) http://www.beatport.com/release/mental-atmosphere/1281054
  16. Artist: Talpa Title: Emo Robot Label: Tesseract Studio Date: February, 2014 1. Emo Robot 2. Going Home ""Yesterday morning I woke up on the streets with a lollipop in my anus." See what you did you've confused Jackie Chan. Now he might try and make another movie. I think Goran is confused also. I do. This is what happens when you use aliases, you have to keep in character. Talpa = groundbreaking Art of Non psytrance. Riddler = funky yet eerie but wiggling progressive music. Same guy just different facets. This is a Talpa release. But it sounds like the Riddler. Aside from me trying to shoehorn him into boxes he himself created this is an interesting release. Emo Robot is the equivalent of a homosexual slap fight where juvenile robot voices trade barbs. But the electric effect is so throaty and funky I can't stop listening to it. Throw in that piano riff and disco hit and it sounds just like The Riddler. Going Home also has the eerie child-like melody characteristic of the Riddler, but there is also a Joe Satriani-esque guitar solo that I cannot stand. He won't you know. He won't stand for baloney! I don't know what Goran is doing these days. Expect the unexpected I suppose. Beatport Mdk
  17. Artist: Lifeforms Title: Sub Standards EP Label: Iono Music Date: March, 2014 1. Sub Standards 2. Extraterrestrial If you like lush, atmospheric tapestries of sound in the psygressive vein then this duo is for you. It's a short two track ep, but not a measure is wasted. It's grand with effects and synths echoing toward the unreachable horizon. Gentle and forceful during the same track, this is living breathing music. If you're a fan of the Iono style (like I am) put your headphones on and just drift. Well done. Beatport Psyshop Mdk

  21. Artist: Various Title: Beach Atmosphere Vol. 2 Label: Iono Music Date: August, 2013 1. Natural Culture OPPOSITE8 2. Life on earth SUNTREE 3. New world order (Egorythmia rmx) RITMO, NOK 4. Drums have been talking SONIC ENTITY 5. One Life (Zyce rmx) UNSEEN DIMENSIONS 6. Massive Attack SPACE HYPNOSE, STATIC MOVEMENT 7. Indaco SHYISMA 8. Sunset Blues AVSHI 9. Burn Out ROGER RABBIT As I'm scraping the ice off my car after the two feet of snow fell and my hands are slowly going numb, a beach sounds really f*cking good about now. Iono delivers part two in this series aimed at those who could use a little warmth and sunshine. It's chock full of the melodic progressive vastness that the label releases on a continuous basis. Now, this might be the frostbite talking, but...meh. I mean the progressive trance is good with plenty of delicious melodies and warm breaks. Iono does this better than anyone and that just might be the problem. No chances are taken here. It's a safe play doing things they've done for years. Changes in the time signature, echoing washes, and samples designed to make you think. All been done before by this label on many albums. I think it's time to think outside the box. Time to shake the progressive world up a bit. It's not bad, but for me it's beginning to get a little stale. Beatspace Psyshop Mdk
  22. Artist: Alchemix Title: It's A Story Label: Ovnimoon Records Date: August, 2013 1. Its a story 2. Time is a direction 3. Upstream (Alchemix rmx) - Protonica 4. Red Forest 5. For a moment 6. What is reality (Live Edit) 7. Rising 8. Freaky Alien 9. The Visions Begin (Predators rmx) 10. Omnipresent "Time is a direction, not a dimension." I got this for one reason and one reason only. The consistent quality emanating from this label. Alchemix is Fotis Karoukis and I haven't heard much of his music, but put an attractive cover with a strong label and good samples and there wasn't much I could do. It's an album that surfs the psy gressive wave much like Ovnimoon himself. Drifting melodies come in layers complimented with nice electronic effects. Sounding soft and delicate would be a good way to describe this. It never feels empty, like he just going through the motions. You can tell he put his time in to carve out some nice depth. For a Moment is a standout, putting all the elements together for a beautiful track. Unfortunately the album begins well, but descends into a less complex more generic sound (Freaky Alien). Even though the Predators remix of the Visions was full-on the atmosphere was delicious. A good album, but it lacks that consistency and special something that would put it in the upper echelon of progressive trance. Worth the time of melodic progressive lovers however. Psyshop Beatport Mdk
  23. Artist: Various Title: Battlestar Label: TesseracT Studio Date: July, 2013 1. Atmospheric (The Riddler rmx) L-XIR 2. Voyager One COPYCAT 3. Gypsy Magic MOLOK, SUBLIMINAL CODES 4. Unravel FLEGMA 5. Highly Addictive LYCTUM 6. Rabbit Hole AQUALIZE 7. Flux (Lyctum rmx) ZEN MECHANICS, FLEGMA AND NERSO 8. Full Moon MIDDLE MODE, NERSO VS ZYCE 9. Unimation (Micky Noise rmx) ZYCE AND NERSO 10. Tune In SIDEFORM "I don't know who I am. I don't know who I am...becoming." You're Phil. And you work in accounting. Tesseract...my Serbian homies. Always ready to deliver some quality progressive trance. I would call this a solid release. Not my favorite, but it's peppered with good tracks and a few great ones. Nothing was bad and I was pleasantly surprised by the Mickey Noise remix which also happened to be my favorite track. Floating and melodic with a pinch of groove. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  24. Artist: Ovnimoon Title: Camanchaca Label: Synergetic Records Date: March, 2006 1. Arcoirs 2. Viaje l sur 3. La India 4. Shamanic Dance on Ayahuaska 5. El arbol arauacano 6. Todos (ovnimoon vs Trancemission vs Mandulk) 7. I love you 8. High nrg (Divinidad rmx) 9. Camanchaca (Reike Pacha mama rmx) Hector's debut album is about as far as you could get from where he is now. His latest Trancemutation of the Mind is melodic and ever changing, but this effort is average at best in my opinion. It's a mixture of downtempo and minimalistic progressive that isn't very memorable. He maintains an air of mystery as well as a tribal feel, but with the exception of the last track it sounds as though he's trying to find a direction for his music. Mdk
