  1. Artist: Jikooha Title: Spacemen Underground Label: Matsuri Digital Date: June, 2017 1. Neo Tokyo Apocalypse 2. Decode Reality 3. Gravity Controller 4. Shamanarchy 5. Shambhala UFO 6. Lemuria 7. Nextgen Odyssey [Jikooha & Asteroidnos] 8. Ecco Weed 9. Mandalavision I hope to go to Japan one day and experience the melding of an ancient culture and a modern metropolis. So many things to see and do. From way over here in the states it seems so foreign and that they aren't afraid to be different. That principle also applies to their goa trance as it doesn't sound like anything currently out there. This duo has been around a long time and they seem to push the boundaries of goa into sometimes loud and abrasive places. Perhaps it's the punk vibe flowing through their veins. It's been five years since their last album Sirius Rising and what do you know this is their fifth album. They open things with an onslaught of analog sounds, thumping beats, and a progressive feel. Neo Tokyo Apocalypse is mostly a positive track, but that vibe doesn't last very long. Decode Reality brings an ominous analog wave pierced with 303 tones as if in warning. It churns and throbs while Gravity Controller oscillates with no less insistence. Not as dark, but still driving. Shamanarchy is tribal and mysterious with intense melodies. Shambala UFO brings guitar into the mix, but merely as a handrail for the electronics yet it's my least favorite track on the album. Lemuria is an addictive track with electric analog sounds pulsing in layers. Nextgen Odyssey has a more groovy and less aggressive feel with ample opportunity for head nodding. Ecco Weed is a more mellow offering that seems to say the album is winding down from its intensity and I believe should've been the final track. But they close with Mandalavision, and the intensity makes a final appearance raising the blood pressure like a new Trump executive order. Their sound is dancing in an underground club until the wee hours of the morning amidst flashing lights and multitudes of colors. Taking a simple melody and twisting it until it becomes hypnotically lush. Before you know it you've sweated through your clothes. As I've mentioned the beat is always heavy and there is an analog presence throughout while adding tribal elements in some tracks. While none of the tracks for me rise to the Etnica/Pleiadians level of detail this was a solid goa trance album and definitely worth the wait. Psyshop
  2. Artist: Moonweed Title: Voice of Jupiter Label: Anjuna Records Date: December, 2014 1. Om Life 2. Aardvark 3. Prophecy 4. Micronesia (feat. Shakta) 5. Spiral Expansion (MoonwOOOD Mix) 6. Celestial (feat. Squid) 7. Telepath 8. (SH)It Happens 9. Snake Charmer 10. Voice of Jupiter This is some raw old school sh*t. So raw. "You mean like a vegetable?" Yes like a vegetable. No you simpleton. Like sliding on a basketball court without any knee protection. You know the sound I'm talking about. Like cutting into your steak and watching it bleed. Moonweed is Jamie Graham and thanks to Anjuna records we have all his hard to find tracks in one place. Ladies and gents I present you his debut album. It took a while to get here, but holy crap on a cracker was it worth it. This is a blistering collection of goa trance from back in the day when the men were men and the sheep were nervous. Growling and screeching 303's at a monster drink fueled pace is what this is. Swirling leads and more bubbly layers than my kid's bath. Along with his classic tracks there are also some nice surprises I had never heard before. Waiter, I'd like one time machine set to...oh, let's try the beaches of Goa circa 1996? An excellent choice sir. And beyond excellent it is. I was just thinking that all any goa head would need was this album and Shakta Retroscape when at that very moment Micronesia came on. That's confirmation from the man upstairs people. The whole album is four on the floor relentless psychedelic goa trance and with mastering by Mr. Tim Schuldt the sound is brilliant. If everything old is new again I say keep f*cking digging cause there's gold in them hills! This is an absolute must have and for my money the greatest release from Anjuna to date. Is it too late to vote for the best of the year thingy? Kim Jong Un Approved. Anjuna Bandcamp Mdk
  3. Artist: Various Title: BGF Chronicles Label: Neogoa Records Date: July, 2017 Part One: 01 - Aerosis - Whole New Beginning 02 - Ephedra - Fanatic's Tribute 03 - Triquetra - Headphone Zombie 04 - Siam - Bizarre Sunrise 05 - E-Mantra - Valley Of The Kings (Fiery Dawn Remix) 06 - Kurandini - Celestial Death Of Yama 07 - Griffin - Dark Frequencies (BGF Version) 08 - Mania - Cosmic Flux 09 - Omnivox - Beyond Dreams Part Two: 10 - E-Mantra - Distant Signals (Early Version) 11 - Journey Into Sound - 42 12 - Zopmanika - Subconscious Whispers 13 - Sky Technology - It Is Alive 14 - Mindfield vs. Lunar Asylum - Exposed 15 - Omneon - Transform Last 16 - Veasna - Silent Spring 17 - Syb Unity Nettwerk Experience - MorphoGenesis (Live Studio) 18 - Third Eye Channel - Once Upon Heard the party was epic! Our favorite (well my favorite, I can't speak for all you guys) goa trance netlabel is at it again with a large digital compilation mastered by sonic impresario Deimos and cool as f*ck artwork by label head Ivan himself. Most people don't know this but BGF stands for Big Girls For Ivan because I've heard he likes a little meat on the bone. Fine that's not what it means. It stands for Balkan Goa Fanatics which is a bunch of far East Europeans who seem to really like this goa music. This release nicely coincides with the label's 7th birthday so hopefully Ivan got a nice plump stripper for the celebrations. So inside is a who's who of European goa artists beginning with blast from the past Aerosis, laying down a warm, progressive style that feels comfortable like the ass groove in the couch that takes years to construct. Flavor of the month Triquetra deliver a track that grew on me especially when the second half became a twirlers paradise. Like most of you I like my goa with a heaping helping of forest and Dark Frequencies has more in common with North Sweden than India. Disappointed in the Omnivox track though. Has to be one of his weakest ever. A few others... Subconscious Whispers...wow! Transform Last...double wow! Exposed...not so wow. Stevo you know that doesn't belong here. Morphogenesis was a classic from 20 years ago, but I don't know if this is updated or he recorded what he played live. Don't really care, but I'll say it is deliciously old school. Overall a great release from these crazy Balkans. Quality always comes before quantity so when you come across a label that delivers both it's really rare. Neogoa Bandcamp
  4. Artist: WOTE (Worms of the Earth) Title: Sekhem-A-Kheftiu Label: Timewarp Records Date: October, 2017 1. Umes (Opening the Hidden Doors) 2. Sekhem-A-Kheftiu 3. Tesert-Baiu "You know you cannot escape death, but immortality can be obtained." This movie looks awesome! I always appreciate artists asking me to write reviews because most of the time it means that they have read my work and find that it has some value. Writing reviews is a time consuming process so getting asked to write one helps me continue to want to do it. This is the solo project of Dan Barrett from DC...wait, you're from DC? I'm not saying I have a lot of rotten fruit and pungent dog feces lying around, but if I did... do you think you could make a delivery to a certain bloated douchebag? His address is 1600 Pennsylvania something or other. You can't miss him. Just follow the trail of lies and stupidity. Anyway Dan Barrett's Discogs page describes him as a dark electronic project with a few releases. I've never heard any of his material, but like a diligent detective I thought it proper to educate myself. Listening to some of his earlier material reveals his industrial side sounding oftentimes like an early more primitive version of FLA with tribal affects. As a fan of FLA this is appealing to me. So with high hopes I gave his latest effort a listen through. Unfortunately this doesn't have a tenth of the raw industrial feel or the layered detail of the older stuff. This is a three track digital ep that was mainly full-on with some psychedelic touches and goa flavor which mainly comes off as bland and uninteresting. The production is quite good sounding very professional so for that he should be commended. The only track that held any interest for me was the opener which sounded akin to something from Zion604. I find his strength so far to be his dark ambient work. While not Cold Meat Industry material it's dark and moody (Thagirion - Mired In A River Of Drowned Bodies is a sample of a track title) with chants and whispered recitations that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Check out Sitra Achra if that's more your thing. Timewarp Records
  5. Had an old vizual video laying around on my computer for a good while and can't figure out what the song is. The video was simply called "Clear Light" and nothing more. Wondering if anybody can identify what the name of the song & artist is? Video is my guess around the early 2000's.
  6. Artist: GoaTree Title: Black Star Of The Death Tracklist: 1. Carbon - Nomad (GoaTree Remix) 2. GoaTree - Vader 3. GoaTree - Damned 4. GoaTree - Labyrinth 5. GoaTree - Black Star Of The Death 6. GoaTree - Cell Connections 7. GoaTree - No Time To Waste 8. GoaTree - Hide And Clap I have heard of GoaTree but I dont think I ever went through his music so I'm doing this with a fresh set of ears. This is the black star of THE Death, not of death in general, but of a certain, particular death. Mysterious, wouldn't you say? Anyway, if you are expecting a dark and serious atmosphere like I was, you shan't be dissapointed! Lets begin! 1. Nomad (GoaTree Remix): Introduces us to the theme of the album which is the combination of goa and dark/forest and I couldnt be more happy with it because it mixes the best of both worlds! It made me bounce around in my chair which is always a good sign! Highly psychodelic! 5/7 2. Vader: I expect nerdgasms just because of the name alone! Anyhow, the special part of this track, beside it being an amazing track, is its sample: "Vader... was seduced... by the dark side... of the force." It repeats a lot but its so damn catchy that I couldnt stop myself from saying it along with the track every...single...time! The track itself is 303 and melody heavy. At 7:20 we have a cool little playful melody followed by a great semi-climax. Masterfully composed track. Love it to bits! 7/7 3. Damned: 5/7 4. Labyrinth: Has a 3 minute long intro which builds up into a melodic explosion which persists for a good part of the track but it doesnt overstay its welcome. The track then slowly winds down to its conclusion. Great stuff! 6/7 5. Black Star Of The Death: I always have high expectations for title tracks and I was pleasently surprised this time. IMO, its the best track on this album. It has a HUUUUGE climax. I love successfully executed climaxes! 7/7 6. Cell Connections: A more simplistic track which sounds very oldschool to me. Has a dose of playful and funky rhythm. 6/7 7. No Time To Waste: First part of the track is high-tech heavy which then weirdly transitions into a twisted folk melody. Wasn't particularily impressed by this one but its far from being bad 4.5/5 8. Hide And Clap: A nice conclusion to the album. Nothing special but it does it job of signing off. 5/7 Summery: A darkpsy infested goa album with a couple of gems. Tracks are complex, well and patiently structured and decently varied. This release is of a big caliber and it came as a pleasant surprise. 6/7 You can download for free or choose to support the label and artist (name your price) at: https://neogoarecords.bandcamp.com/album/black-star-of-the-death
  7. Artist: Various Title: Psychedelic Goa Core Vol. 2 Label: Javelin Date: February, 1997 1. Inifinity Project - Overwind 2. S.U.N. Project - The Suburbs 3. ManMadeMan - Elevator 4. Prana - Alien Pets 5. Infernal Machine - The Loin King (F*ck you Disney) 6. Shakta & Ping Pong - Between The Nothing 7. Unconscious Collective - Fluorostani Transcendance 8. MFG - Magnetic Activity (Remix) 9. Taiyo - Taiyo (Chakra Remix) 10. Psyko Disko - Pho Rue Yang Sometimes you are just in the mood for some thumping, screaming old school goa trance. Can't believe I had to create a review for this (you know how f*cking lazy I am), but it gave me the opportunity to share how good this is. And it is so damn good. It's a mix CD and I don't know about you, but usually I only like mix Cd's in the car. This one hit me in the right spot though. There are a couple of outstanding goa tracks here and it is a banging good time.
  8. Artist: Circle of Protection (Pssssst....It's Filipe) Title: Trinity Seven Ep Label: Goa '96 Records Date: June, 2017 1. Trinity Seven 2. Druid "Hmmmm...should I sh*t in Steadman's mouth tonight?" Ever heard anything by Filipe Santos? I mean, literally anything. Well, this is that. Sure the project name is different (isn't that the M.O. of one who wants to constantly reinvent?) much the same way food companies try to shoehorn artificial sweeteners into everything you eat. I mean how many f*cking words are there for sugar? If you're a fan of his music (I am) than you will won't have a problem bellying up to the table to suck this down. It's good, melodic, layered, power goa. Even though I'm sure I've heard it before. Filipe Santos Music
  9. Artist: Median Project Title: The Wanderer Ep Label: Timewarp Records Date: July, 2017 1. The Wanderer 2. Made On Earth 3. Nuclear Reactor 4. The Lonely Mountain With the newly announced upcoming album from the Median Project on Goa Trance powerhouse Global Sect Records I thought it would be worthwhile to take a look at some previously released material. Sergei Petrenko from mother Russia delivers a digital ep on Timewarp (have they gone full digital?) which I believe to be a gem for lovers of straight forward space goa. While he didn't reinvent the wheel, the result is a decent journey across the cosmos with great effects and nice layering. My favorite was Nuclear Reactor. Sometimes I felt he lost his way and left the ship on autopilot a little too long, but I was never serious about hitting the airlock to try to escape. So good on you my friend, I can't wait to see if your debut album reaches epic status! Timewarp Records Bandcamp

  11. Usually I don't tend to open topics to promote other releases, but since it's collaboration project of two friends and amazing musicians, I had to share this one since I'm pretty much sure it's gonna be one of the best albums in 2018. Here are the official details: Artist: Unknownium [PsiloCybian & Lunar Dawn] Title: Unknownium [Album] Label: BMSS Records Cat no.: BMSSDigi120 Format: Digital Download Release Date: 15 January 2018 Mastering: Plus6 (Micky Noise) Download: bmssrecords.bandcamp.com/music [Out on 15.01.2018] Out from the underground and up towards the light, Unknownium, a new project by PsiloCybian and one half of Lunar Dawn is a greasy bass filled rebellion designed to fill the void of our unexplained existence with someone else's memories. In this strange space between the mind and the world, we are four-sided triangles. We lurk in the shadows, strangers watching strangers, unknown to each other. We are the resistance, the screaming madness that passes through black holes and into the day to find snake charmers and melody makers dancing wildly to the random beauty of perfect chaos. Tracklist: 01: Unknownium - Unknownium 02: Unknownium - Squareish Sawtooth 03: Unknownium - Absent Presence 04: Unknownium - Greasy Roller 05: Unknownium - Four Sided Triangle 06: Unknownium - Blackholes 07: Unknownium - Someone Elses Memories 08: Unknownium - Randomness Of Thought Available on January 15th via Bandcamp & Beatport: bmssrecords.bandcamp.com/ & www.beatport.com/label/bmss-records/18305 Follow BMSS Records: Website: www.BMSS.eu Facebook: www.facebook.com/BMSSRecords Soundcloud: @bmss-records Youtube: www.youtube.com/user/BMSSRecords Bandcamp: bmssrecords.bandcamp.com/ Beatport: pro.beatport.com/label/bmss-records/18305
  12. Artist: Cactus Arising Title: Solar Storm Label: Timewarp Records Date: December, 2014 1. Sand Inspiration 2. D.I.Y. 3. Night Fractals 4. Star Storm 5. Opposite Spinning 6. Between Our Galaxy 7. Transfer at the Speed of Light 8. Moon + Sun 9. Nova Fractal - Connect (Cactus Arising rmx) A little over a year ago Timewarp Records released this album to minimal fanfare. I mean, it seemed like it was only very lightly advertised. It's digital only from two Greek newcomers who have made the rounds on several compilations like Goamystica, Goa Energy, and whatever the hell Goalogique is doing. I've had this on my hard drive for quite some time, but couldn't successfully get through it. Not because it's bad (it isn't), but because it doesn't offer anything new. The tracks are solidly thumping new-school (I know some people hate that classification) production with similar sounds all the way through. Nothing stands out or makes the tracks particularly memorable however. I found myself waiting for twists and turns that never came which makes the album rather vanilla. Not bad, but there is a lot more dynamic work out there. Beatspace Psyshop
  13. Artist: PharaOm & Somnesia Title: Santorin Label: Space Baby Records Date: July, 2013 1. Message From Heaven 2. Zophina 3. Elytra 4. Toxic Kiss 5. God's Tears (Nova Fractal Remix) 6. Radioactivity 7. Neilos 8. Havoc 9. Frogs 10. Darkness 11. Hell-Heaven 12. Road To Exodus I miss complete sentences. 2013. Back to a time when I could wake up in the morning and not immediately wonder what the bloated pumpkin in chief had done to sh*t on my country. Got poor? F*ck 'em corporations are people too and they need your money. Any new p*ssies to grab? Remember, nazis are good people too. Mary and Joseph it's only been less than a year and I'm literally exhausted from his constant buffoonery. But thankfully this isn't about him, it's about a digital collaboration that I feel flew way under the radar. Two well known artists who got together and released a storming, melodic goa trance album. They say don't judge a book by its cover, but c'mon. Hello, rule...exception. It looks like Egypt threw up all over Ra with this cover, so you know what type of goa trance is found within. That aside these are two accomplished producers who probably understand that a certain amount of exploitation occurs when doing a concept album like this. They take it tongue in cheek, realizing that goa trance music can be full of tropes and stereotypes. Hell in one track they even have a sample that says, "OK guys it was just a joke." So yeah this is the type of goa you think it is, but it is very well done. Throw out the useless intro and outro and mostly what you have is rapid, twirling melodies sometimes hovering close to the nitzhonot line. But fear not intrepid listener, because And I love it. Fast and furious mostly, but it's not always just four on the floor. The breaks are well placed to allow the compositions to breathe. The sound quality is great which really comes out when listening to all the layers. This is one of those releases the collector in me would love to have in physical form. Beatspace Digital
  14. Artist: Hypnoxock Title: Mental Conversations Ep Label: Goa Trance Music Date: April, 2017 1. Transformation 2. Pecadus Nocturnis Hypnoxock (pronounced Hip-no-shock) is Victor Solsana's baby now and he's been on quite the f*cking roll. I haven't heard his latest Eurythmia yet, but I hear great things. And even before his latest this project has consistently put the psychedelia back into psytrance. From way back in 2009 with the night time trance of Logic Evolution to the more recent Sounds From Another Time this project has not disappointed. With their more recent turn towards goa we have even more reason to celebrate! Discogs says this is from 2015, but their bandcamp says 2016 so forgive me if I have placed this incorrectly. This digital ep has two tracks. Transformation builds well and it's not until more than halfway through that a goa melody finally unwinds. The end is the hammer and it's worth the wait. Pecadus Nocturnis twists and turns and even though it has a galloping bass line it brings a smile. Almost halfway through the break sprouts a new tributary in which to travel. And that new way...is a goa one. Well done. Super danceable and worth adding to your hopefully large Hypnoxock collection. Hypnoxock Bandcamp
  15. Artist: Nostromosis Title: My Way Ep Label: Timewarp Records Date: August, 2017 1. Psychedelic Space Mom and Baby (First Breath) 2. Old ROM 3. Sirena Cosm 4. Monomakh (Second Breath) 5. New Life (with Sonic Elysium) Timewarp keeps chugging along and I for one am grateful for that. That said when you produce a lot of material it's fair to say that not all of them will be home runs. Nostromosis is Igor Sidorov from Mother Russia and I've always felt that his is on the lower tier of today's goa producers. Nothing personal, but his sound isn't as polished and seamless as other artists. His sound choice at times borders on annoying and none of his tracks have really impressed. Unfortunately for me with this Ep he still seems to be stuck in this rut. The second half of Sirena Cosm brings hope, but ultimately his tracks contain no drama or dynamism. They're just...there. Sorry, but this one's a pass from me. Timewarp Bandcamp Psyshop
  16. Please share you experiences with live performances of goa or psychedelic trance... I know this is a bit rare as many artist mainly have click and play live sets (correct me if I am wrong)... Found this Japanese guy Kick.S, he is pretty damn amazing! I was listing to his acid techno first, but then I stumbled upon this live set... Damn, some series nob-twisting ps. the first set really starts to pick up after 8 minutes time

  18. Artist: Maiia Title: Shining Dragon Label: Mystic Sound Records Date: March, 2017 1. Tale About the Shining Dragon 2. Princess From the North 3. Natural Energy (Album Mix) 4. Maiia303 - Electric Particles (Maiia GoaChill Remix) 5. Microcosmos (Instrumental Mix) 6. Fusion Age (Album Mix) 7. Eastern Saloon 8. Strawberry Lassy (Album Mix) 9. The Great Bear (Album Mix) 10. Kurbeats - Phony Phony (Maiia Remix) Yes, very interesting. This is Alla Vagner who should be familiar to all who frequent this forum based on her 2014 release Sky In Diamonds on Ovnimoon Records. It was a pleasant surprise and a breath of fresh air to hear the organic sound melded with goa trance. Sure it 's been done before, but man did she do it well. She gets right after it with the goa tinged breakbeat track Tale About the Shining Dragon and Natural Energy. I believe that she is the female equivalent to Hardfloor. Funky breakbeats layered with that saucy 303 riding shotgun. It's truly body moving music with eerie tones layered over top. Mysterious at times, but always engaging with plenty of tribal affects. Check out Strawberry Lassy...lots of Shponglese going on there. She keeps the tracks relatively short for maximum freshness. While not as eye opening as Diamonds, it nonetheless doesn't fail to impress. Mystic Sound Records Bandcamp
  19. Artist: Various Title: Gate To The Past Label: Zion 604 Records Date: May, 2017 1. Radical Distortion - Year 2488 2. Declaration of Unity - Ohm Sun 3. Sandman & Radical Distortion - Tweakers 4. Shunak Idou - Journey 5. Radical Distortion - Voltage Source (Radical Frequencies Remix) 6. Cactus Arising - Solar Echoes 7. Radical Distortion - The Wizard 8. Cactus Arising & Radical Distortion - Ammos 9. Cydelix - Induction On the heels of the decent yet underwhelming Virtual Jungle re-issue comes a compilation of tracks put together by goa powerhouse Radical Distortion. Hell this could very well be a new release from that duo as their fingerprints are all over this. The release itself is very Greek centric with regards to tracks, mastering, and artwork. And ain't nothing wrong with that. The music is mostly goa trance done well (The Wizard is a powerful track which was released last year, the bouncy Induction, Journey, Voltage Source Remix, and Year 2488), sometimes goa that's a little too fluffy for my tastes (Ammos, Solar Echoes), and then a blurring of the line between goa/psytrance on Ohm Sun. So it's pretty good with outstanding sound quality, but I can't help but feel that the label is in a bit of a rut by releasing comfortable albums. And by that I mean albums that are good, but haven't reached that level which they have in the past. Weird to say that after I just told you that the compilation was pretty good, but I feel it's been since 2015's Robotized that the label has hit a home run. Still, a compilation worth having. I have had a splendid time and I have decided to share the set I have played, remixed and recorded again for this purpose. The original mix played at the party featured some unreleased versions of some of the tracks that I play here and that should not be published online yet as they have been licensed and will be released on upcoming DAT Records releases. That said, I do hope you'll enjoy the mix, I surely did playing it at the festival. Draeke
  21. Artist: Night Hex Title: Viziuni Nocturne Label: Suntrip Records Date: November, 20015 1. Night Visitors 2. Sleep Paralysis 3. Distorted Visions 4. Nineve (Remix) 5. Katharsis 2015 was a superb year for goa trance with labels like DAT Records dropping the Pleiadians 3-disc holy grail, a 2-disc Doof release, as well as the Opale EP (seriously, check it out it's awesome), Neogoa released so many good albums for free that I'm just gonna give you a link to their treasure trove, and last but certainly not least Suntrip. They made a big splash in the old school pool by turning out classic albums by Asia 2001, Denshi Danshi, and a disc of Prana Remixes not to mention an album by superstars Celestial Intelligence and a legendary compilation called Aurora Sidera. Not one to rest on their laurels they deliver an EP from an artist that rules the goa kingdom. E-mantra threw 5 tracks together as his self described darker, more progressive goa trance project Night Hex. His style is instantly recognizable as the tracks delve into a hypnotic reverie. It's slower bpms which makes me wonder how you're supposed to dance to this. Pretty sure that's, uh...that's just f*cking awkward. Maybe you aren't and I sure didn't, but I can tell you that I had to listen to this over one hundred times because Mr. Melodies has the ability to make the mind take a vacation. His music is seamless and slowing down the bpm is akin to slowing time as I drift from one lead to another. The remix of Nineve is downright sinister. Fans of his music will not be disappointed as the attention to detail and atmosphere creation is what you would expect from your goa overlord. Suntrip Psyshop Beatspace
  22. Artist: Power Source Title: XOXO Label: Dacru Records Date: July, 2017 1. Introstellar 2. The Question 3. Night & Day 4. New Sparks (Space Cat Edit) 5. Skywalker (Filteria Remix Edit) 6. Astral Projection feat. DJ Jorg - Mahadeva (Power Source & Innerzone Remix) 7. Power Source & The Muses Rapt - Galactic Wilderness 8. Seville 9. Dasvidanya Ah Power Source clearly all out of f*cks to give. One of the more notable names that was almost a seminal figure in the goa scene. This project (which began as a trio and is now the sole property of Shahaf Shvarzman) beat us over the head with some say their only standout track Goaway. I however believe them to have had at least a few more with Memory Bubbles, Granada, and Skywalker, but clearly if you kicked out their contribution the goa pyramid would still stand solidly. So now it's back and we know the trap that can be a hazard of returning artists. It's a trap that Power Source jumped into with two feet screaming "F*ck it!" all the way down. This album is pure Dacru full-on with goa and trance elements which might require you to get some sunglasses when listening to it as the shiny and modern production could very well blind you. I like what Space Cat did with Sparks and even though it's pretty good we already heard the Filteria Remix of Skywalker on Ten Spins Around the Sun. The Mahadeva remix was also entertaining, but it just made me want to hear the original. Look I was never a huge fan of this project to begin with, but If you can listen to the last track without dry heaving than perhaps you should apply for sainthood. What the unholy f*ck? It's not bad with it's great production and power, but I don't have time for just not bad. There was potential here, but for me there wasn't anything that was particularly memorable. 23. Artist: Ohm Mind Title: Birds Will Go To Heaven Label: Neogoa Records Date: October, 2015 Angkor Thom Unleash The Ohm Jungle Out Of Galaxy Doors Of Imagination Singing Owls Ultimate State Of Consciousness Cosmic Trance Birds Will Go To Heaven Ugh...still working the bugs out of my Spock disapproval algorithm. As of right now he can be slightly...heavy handed. Looks like it's back to radio shack. Even though the bugs need to be worked out he mirrors my feelings to a lesser extent. Of course I don't want to smash my computer. Counterproductive, expensive, and it doesn't solve anything. The simple solution is to say that I find this boring and choose not to listen. This is the debut album of Belgian Jeremy Cambon and I feel he has underwhelmed me. Perhaps it's his choice of sounds or the quality of production, but this release does not grab me. Decent, but not something I would actively reach for. There were some moments where I was intrigued, but they were immediately followed up by uninteresting melodies. I consistently felt like the tracks dragged on with no fruitful conclusion. Thin sounding without a lot of power. Based on the thread in the Artist News and Label Announcements I shall be in the minority. That's ok, I don't mind going my own way. The artwork is beautiful and was done by Richpa while the mastering by Deimos so it's got that going for it. Probably with time his production will evolve and improve, but right now this album doesn't hold up to other releases even within the Neogoa catalog. Free at Ektoplazm

  25. Artist: E-mantra Title: Compendium Vol. 1 Label: Melusine Records Date: April, 2017 1. Above the Skies 2017 (Live Version) 2. Approaching Nibiru (2017 Version) 3. Dansul Ielelor (2012 Version) 4. Dark Corners of the Universe (2017 Version) 5. Distant Signals (Rmx 2017 Version) 6. Leviathan 7. Pathfinder (2017 Version) 8. Telluric Waves (2017 Version) While the new guns currently dazzle us with their electronic wizardry we must never forget that a beast of the genre still lurks in the ether. Mr. Carpus has proven himself to be a master of goa trance time and again with 4 albums of blissful and transcendent goa as well as four downtempo chillers. The man is a legend any way you slice it. His style is hypnotic, melodic, and steeped in eerie layers. This digital only release (I hear tale that a CD is in the works) is comprised of previous tracks that have been re-edited and remastered as a thank you to the fans. And it is all that you think it is. Ripping 303's, lush melodies that slowly appear and then drift off into the cosmos, and shifting focus with seamless details. It's darkly mysterious, mystical, and layer heavy. Personally I don't have the time to compare each track with the original, but what I can tell you is that it is a great goa album that fits in nicely with his previous releases. He doesn't take any chances, but does what he does best. If you're a fan of his style then this is a must have. Melusine Records Bandcamp
