  1. Artist: Psilocybian & Black Noise Title: Space Is a Strange Place EP Label: BMSS Records Date: July, 2013 1. Space Bubble 2. God Is A Mathematician 3. Crystal Extractor "So we're nothing but a soap bubble floating in a bubble bath of soap bubbles." First you had Brain Dissolver (soon to be released, check it out it's pretty good). Then he raised the bar with a f*cking rocket on his latest album Dreamtime. And to show you he wasn't a one or two trick pony he let you see his goa side as Screw Loose with the Mental Well Being EP. All around nice guy and psytrance artist Sasa Dukic is not only proficient he is consistent in delivering the quality music we crave. His latest effort has him teamed up with someone who calls himself Black Noise. As talented as the people in Croatia seem to be it wouldn't surprise me if this was his plumber. Or the security guy at the local Wal Martski. Maybe it's the weather chick on TV. Point is seems a lot of artists are coming out of that neck of the woods. And asses are getting kicked. Space Bubble is heavily layered psytrance with lots happening here including a gurgling 303 and a nice break. God Is a Mathematician sounds heavier with a more liquid sound. The power with which it began had me hoping for a greater climax, but it was still rock solid. Crystal Extractor is the last track of the ep and was a solid bit of full-on. The whole thing screams quality psytrance touched by goa with a sound reminiscent of Braincell. Well, what Braincell used to sound like (I'll get into that later). If you've enjoyed his previous stuff this will be right up your alley. Beatport Mdk
  2. Artist: M.O.S. Title: Winter Kills / Spirulina EP Label: High Society Date: 1998 1. Winter Kills 2. Spirulina You know that High Society was the name of a porno mag right? Sure you didn't. Uh-oh. Late 90's...German act...set phasers to boredom. We could be in for a crash course and man does it start out that way. "F*ck it, just leave it running. Who want's schwarma?" But the b-side saves the day with a futuristic effects laden track. It's subtle and takes its time, but then it just blasts the door open. Great atMOSphere. See that? See what I did there? Recognize. Mdk
  3. Artist: M.O.S. Title: Xone / Lunar Church EP Label: Organic Records Date: 1997 1. Xone 2. Lunar Church Never knew much about this project except they had an album with a bug on the cover. And it was called Bug. Deep. Xone is a quality bit of goa that hypnotizes and strikes from the shadows. Not much evolution, but effective with squelchy leads. Oh, the church can't wait to get to the moon with collection plates quivering. Lunar Church slinks about with some omen type choir chants. Meh, sorry reverend. Mdk
  4. Artist: ManMadeMan Title: Angel Hair / Drama EP Label: 21-3 Records Date: 1997 1. Angel Hair 2. Drama Man this project puzzles me. They giveth and they taketh away. A mild mannered Clark Kent of a track on one side and that evil badass that killed superman on the other. Classic schizophrenia. It's logic like this that makes every father of teenage daughters hate all prospective boyfriends. Angel Hair takes the girl out for a lovely evening meal and perhaps a show, but it's Drama that appears when he realizes that after shelling out some major coin he's going home with a thank you and a peck on the cheek. I heard a joke where a father threw a bullet at his daughter's date when he arrived to pick her up. He then said that they move a lot faster after midnight. Some people just love the drama. Mdk
  5. Artist: ManMadeMan Title: Erland EP Label: 21-3 Records Date: 1996 1. William 2. Delirium Here I go again reviewing another MMM ep and the same confounding feelings emerge. I think I've got a problem. I've come to appreciate their talent as electronic musicians (moreso now that I know they have two kids), but there is still a part of me that prepares for the letdown when I hear their tracks. They've had some really good ones, but more often I'm left feeling... This is the case here. Neither of the two tracks on this ep are terrible, but they aren't particularly memorable either. William has a good melody, but it takes half the track to get there. But your patience will be rewarded as it rises to a static electricity charged rocker. Delirium had some good moments and I felt more layering. This ep defines how I feel about this project. Liked the music, but I could take it or leave it. Mdk
  6. Artist: Green Nuns of the Revolution Title: Green Nuns Remix EP Label: Phantasm Records Date: 1999 1. Tufaan - Tufaan (Green Nuns Flakey '99 mix) 2. Mindfield - Sphynx (Green Nuns Remix) "I can't get that song out of my head!" GNOTR and Tufaan are almost the same people so their cross track remixes make sense. On this EP the Nuns also tackle a Mindfield track. What you get is lots of effects with a decided lean towards the techno side of things. It wins as a remix ep because it's very different from the originals. It gets added bonus points for remaining true to the goa sound picture. If you like the stuff Anjuna is putting out these days than you'll love this. Mdk
  7. Artist: Elysium Title: Various Works 1994 - 2005 Label: Self Released Date: March, 2011 Discogs I'm too lazy to list them...there's over twenty. F*cking hell, is everyone named Andersen in Denmark? Denmark's own Kristian Thinning Andersen is a polarizing figure that was the subject of several lively threads here on the forum. Like him or not he's responsible for a big part of our scene's music and was quite prolific. This was released by the artist a few years ago on Ektoplazm, but has since been removed. It's a collection of his work over 10 or so years with music that is tough to box in. Is it goa? Tribal? Downtempo? Yes, all of the above. A digital only release there is a 21 track edition from 2011 and a remastered (what the hell?) 15 track version that came out a year later. One was in wav form and the other in mp3, but most were found on his previous albums. Personally I've never been a huge fan of his style as I think it goes on far too long without sufficient evolution. There are great parts on most of his tracks that unfortunately don't fulfill their potential. But that's just me. If you're a fan than you probably already have a lot of this. If you don't then this is certainly a treat. Even though I didn't like all of it he didn't have to give sh*t away so I would just thank him and stop being an ungrateful b*tch. By the way, I'm super keen on hearing his newest album that is on the way. Mdk
  8. OUT NOW! FREE DOWNLOAD @ EKTOPLAZM: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/morphic-resonance-chromatic-world Morphic Resonance is a new Neogoa discovery, coming from Spain. Behind the project is young and talented producer Christian Fernandez and his style can be described as a blend between the oldschool and newschool goa trance but with highly energetic and acidic sound. He will release his debut EP release on our netlable in early 2014. For previews you can check this link(s): https://soundcloud.com/neogoa/morphic-resonance-chromatic
  9. Artist: Various Title: Goa Overdose 3 Label: UAF Date: November, 2013 1 - Nolax - The Broken Bubble (145 BPM) 2 - Dragon Twins - Fire And Earth (141 BPM) 3 - Ruby Plexus - Tantric Tarantism (147 BPM) 4 - JIS - Journey In My Head (145 BPM) 5 - Tomac - Polar Exploration (134 BPM) 6 - Dreamweaver - Tabula Rasa (142 BPM) 7 - Space Elves - Drop Zone (145 BPM) 8 - Omnivox - Spectral Mutant (142 BPM) 9 - Laughing Skull - Alek Wonderland (145 BPM) 10 - Crossing Mind - Clinic Reality (148 BPM) "They haven't come outta that laboratory for the last three days!" That's cause dey f*cking. You say overdose like it's a bad thing. Ok that's ridiculous. I don't care how much they pay you there is no need to sacrifice your health for some preconceived idea of what you should... Holy sh*t. Is there no middle ground? All you can eat is a marketing ploy nor a double dare. Jeez...as least she doing...something resembling sit ups... Oh God, I think I'm gonna be sick. If you can sing lower than the guy from Boyz to Men lay off the roids Queenzilla. Ugh, for the first time in my life I'm staring at tits and I'm disgusted. Ok you win...overdose is bad no matter how you slice it. Except this one. Imba and UAF are back with part three of the highly successful Goa Overdose series. As usual it's free and full of melodic goa trance by artists you might not be familiar with and a few making their return. The Broken Bubble- Christoph of the Persistence and Turning Point albums seems to have a good relationship with Imba as he has landed guest shots on all the overdoses. His track is a bubbly way to begin things. Fire and Earth is a squirelly motherf*cker with an old school undercurrent that grows in intensity. Tantric Tarantism- Ruby Plexus is ok you got me I have no idea who this is. It's an ok track. Journey In My Head- JIS recently dropped the fantastic Illusions of Reality so after reading that review you need to pay that man! This is mellow in style with those subtle old school flares. Good pumping track that could've even been great with more evolution. Polar Exploration- Sound old school? Should, it's from 2001. This is some undulating goodness that gets in a nice steady rhythm. Kind of like last night when I was with your mom. Yeah she made me blueberry pancakes after we were done. I know! I thought the same thing, they're not in season, how did you do this? Tabula Rasa- Another track from the past (2006) and if this don't get you twerking may I interest you in some drone? Welcome back you glorious mother f*cker. Drop Zone- I really enjoyed Terrestrial Planet Finder...840 hours? That's like a month, what kind of deadline is that? What can't you get done in a month? Even if you spent most of that time staring at porn or gravy wrestling that's still a bizarre deadline. Acidic licks make this enjoyable. Spectral Mutant- There's some buzz floating around about this project (heard it from my toaster) and I can see why. Bouncy and multi-layered this is great for dancing. Alek Wonderland- Another track from 2001? Are you kidding me? This thing is a no holds barred blow the door off the hinges Nagasaki explosion of goa trance. Who's gonna put the paint back on my walls? Clinic Reality- Crossing Mind has recently summited the mountain of goa trance with two brilliant albums in a short time. He closes things out with a track from 2003 that is kinda off tempo. Once it settle in his sound becomes readily apparent. There is something chunky about it. Not your normal four on the floor goa. This is another master stroke by Imba who has really come into his own over the last few years. He's put together a cracker of a compilation that has only one flaw. You guessed it, the mastering. Homie don't got no monies and Tim Schuldt don't do freebies so this is what free mastering sounds like. Still it's not bad and in no way ruins an otherwise brilliant album. Sounds fine on my headphones. Definitely worthy of your time. Hopefully when Imba gets rich fleecing, ahem I mean touring Israel he can pay for some professional mastering because it deserves it. You the man Imba. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  10. Artist: Various Title: The Hypnotic Goa Zone Label: Hypnotic Date: January, 1999 1. Ziax - Calamity 2. Ex- Sample - Trip 2 Goa 3. Whonic - Insight 4. Futurax - Collision 5. DJ Roy - Time To Ride 6. D-Ex It - Lightning 7. Criozonic - Conviction 8. Steam - Lonliness 9. Mach - Crystal 10. Amenia - X-Cella-8 This is an underrated release in my opinion. It's not mixed so you get full tracks and I'm willing to bet that you've never heard of these people. I say people, but it's very few people as the same guy makes at least half of the tracks. And they're brand new goa trance tracks. Know how I know? It says it right on the front of the CD case. You know how sometimes when you look at a release on Discogs and it has a ridiculously high rating? Yeah, that might be this one. Not classics by any stretch as some of the melodies are pretty thin, but for the most part it's solid. One thing you can tell after giving this a listen, the same sounds are used over and over again. Because of that it has that generic goa sound, but one that I can enjoy on occasion. I will say that he knows his way around a 303. Mdk

  12. This is the second mix that I've personally mixed. Sort of a Darshan tribute, but not completely. Hope you guys like it. http://www.mixcloud.com/Phantasmm/fifth-column/ My first set (Phantasmagorium), also a Dark Goa Trance set, with a more dancy/heavy atmosphere. http://www.mixcloud.com/Phantasmm/phantasmagorium/ Any and all feedback appreciated. 13. Artist: Various Title: Orange Compilation Label: TIP Records Date: July, 1995 1. Doof - Mars Needs Women 2. GNOTR - Conflict 3. Astral Projection - Let There Be Light 4. Total Eclipse - A Little Bit of Heaven 5. Psychaos - Intellect 6. Hallucinogen - Angelic Particles 7. The Infinity Project - Alien Airport 8. Einstein - Einstein's Nightlife 9. Voodoo People - People Are Strange 10. Voodoof - Thru "Do we really want to know about the future?" From the label that is now the face of Indian diplomat body cavity searches (at least to me) comes one of the best psychedelic goa trance albums made. All the titans of the genre make an appearance with tracks that have become classics of the golden era of goa trance. Wanna taste of that era? Then this is for you! Even the names that might not be familiar do not disappoint. Well maybe Einstein, but f*ck him what did he ever do? What, no gold chain? No hat cocked obnoxiously to the side? You ain't gangsta. From the corny but cool Mars Needs Women to the sinister track with a chip on its shoulder Thru this is a great window into what made goa fantastic at the time. The Nuns come out with the blistering Conflict and probably one of my favorite tracks by some outfit known as Astral Projection. But the track that screams psychedelic goa madness is the Hallucinogen opus Angelic Particles. Mind melting wizardry is what that is. The only way this could've been better is if it came with a hand job. Mdk
  14. Artist: Various Title: Future Sunrise Label: Hypnotic Date: 1997 1. Ultravision - Outpost 2. Vectrolab - Tribal Energy 3. Unicon - Fantasia (Edit) 4. Ultravision - The Tunnel (Exclusive CD Edit) 5. Silicon Voice - Future Sunrise 6. Vectrolab - Triathlon 7. Unicon - Labor of Love 8. Ultravision - African Dream (Exclusive CD Mix) 9. Ioncraft - Last Chance "Come baby, you're my labor of love." You see it's sh*t like that that makes me want to light you on fire. Damn you Hypnotic and your re-releaseds! I have a love hate relationship with this label. On the one hand if you wanted electronic music in the colonies this was the go to label. They had so much, damn we almost felt European. They were also the label that first exposed me to goa trance, so for that I am eternally grateful. Psygone? Colorbox? Bypass Unit? Solar Plexus? But they also had this habit of re-releasing albums under different names in what could only be labeled as a cash grab. After they cleaned up all the vomit they repackaged it and presented it 3 years later as Disc 2 of the Trance Goa Experience. You sons o' b*tches! Take the good with the bad I guess. But this is just...bad. There are a couple of good tracks that flex some goa muscles, but most of this claptrap is boring trance and hard trance. And don't get me started on whatever that weak ambient closing track was. Hopes were high with Outpost, it was aggressive and just kept coming. The Tunnel wasn't bad and Triathlon was a pretty good mover also. After that though...whew. 3.25 rating on Discogs? That is one pretty liberal f*cking curve. Mdk

  16. Artist: Various Title: Phosphorescent Label: TIP Records Date: October, 1996 1. Hallucinogen - Gamma Goblins 2. Psychopod - Psychopod 3. ManMadeMan & Tristan - Purple Merlin 4. Hallucinogen - Soothsayer (The Lysurgeon Warning Remix) 5. X-Dream - Panic In Paradise 6. The Infinity Project - Phosphoressence 7. Doof - People In UFO's 8. Orichalum - Alien Homes 9. The Antidote - Sunrise How the hell was XXL reviewed, but not this? "Ummm, Mike...that was you. You did that." Yeah, well...look, a T-Rex! *runs away* Seriously though the fact that one of the most psychedelic goa trance releases of all time never got recognition here is mind boggling. It's the perfect storm of awesome. Well known artists putting their best foot forward creating some of the most hypnotic goa trance of an era. Normally when you see a face this close there are numbers underneath it and the reason people never smile in those photos is because the body cavity search they were just subjected to was a little more vigorous than they were probably used to. It's not a first date, Shaquita skips the movie and dinner and heads right for where the magic happens. Waitaminute... Holy sh*t TIP Records predicted the future. They were trying to warn us. Well, Indian diplomats anyway. So she got arrested, strip searched, and a body cavity search all because she brought the caste system to America and didn't drop enough rupees on an untouchable? Look, you can do a lot of things in NYC. You want a slice of pizza at 3:47 in the morning, we'll ask you what toppings you want. Want to see a show with two Saudi grandmothers dressed as anime school girls having sex with a donkey? We call that Tuesday uptown. But one thing we won't tolerate is under paying hard working employees that keep this city running. Oh, that. Hey mistakes were made, let's not point any fingers. Especially that one you just...ah...you know. Look, a T-Rex! Ahem. If I may address the Indian government. Please accept our apologies for my country's rough treatment of the good doctor. Perhaps it was a little overkill and the parties involved could've been a tad overzealous. That said, maybe just maybe, we'll stop fingerf*cking your diplomats when you begin to crack down on your rather sizeable gang rape problem. But I digress. This album is a juggernaut. An absolute beast showcasing the best of goa and psychedelia and trance. There aren't many albums that are perfect, but this one is a It's a worthy addition to any goa enthusiasts collection. It's just track after track of mind numbing dream trips. Now if you'll excuse me, I heard there were a few T-Rexes around here. Mdk
  17. Hi everybody!! I'm new in this site so i'm nice to meet you.. Well.. I have an hold goa trance tape bought in london in 1999 and I'd like to know the title of the records mixed in it. I putted a few seconds of each trax in this video. I hope you will be able to help me, thank you guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWiJX5gVJ3A
  18. Artist: Man With No Name Title: Floor Essence EP Label: Perfecto Date: September, 1995 1. Floor Essence (Dayglo Mix) 2. Floor Essence (Black Light Mix) Such bullsh*t. Man with no name. Whatever, he's got a name. And it's Martin. Martin Freeland is a cornerstone of goa trance history having produced numerous memorable tracks including this one. Part anthemic trance track part goa scorcher this is a classic. I prefer the Dayglo Mix as it seems more aggressive, but you cannot lose with either. The bell chimes and church is in session. Martin Freeland. Yes, Martin Freeland. Mdk
  19. Artist: M-Run Title: Viral EP Label: Spacedock Records Date: October, 2013 1. Bastard Train 2. Viral After the massive praise Mario received for his debut album Some Run Just For Fun he's right back at it with a brief 2 track ep. This smacks of striking while the iron is hot so we don't forget about him. No worries my friend. Gone however is the complexity and ass wiggling goa grooves and in its place is 4 on the floor speed goa. It reminds me of Colorbox with its rapid pace like going through a mile long tube waterslide. Man, that would be fun as f*ck. 2 tracks are hardly a large enough sample size to really hold this against his album, but if you were looking for a continuation of Some Run, well this ain't it. If you're looking to spin and twirl to fast goa melodies this will get you there. BTW, don't sleep on the Ep barrage that seems to be Spacedock Records. They've dropped some quality goa goodies. 22. Artist: Various Title: Sideffect Label: Psynews Date: July, 2013 01 - Paul Eye & Olisan - Daikaisho (132 BPM) 02 - Hierophant - Intergalactic Love Song (133 BPM) 03 - Zero Point Module - Chromatic Fail (147 BPM) 04 - Kacid - Confusing Patterns (148 BPM) 05 - Saluberrimae - Fl0ating (120 BPM) 06 - Radioactive Sandwich - Sound Vibration Technique (75 BPM) 07 - Seismic Activity - Revelation (140 BPM) 08 - Imba - Moon Tribe (142 BPM) 09 - Lapsus - Normality (147 BPM) 10 - PhonoPhora - Phunnel (Version 1.1) (87 BPM) I didn't really know Koen. Spoke to him a few times and the conversations were always pleasant. But when you're used to "seeing" somebody as active as he was in the Psynews forum suddenly...not be there...it's a shock. I don't know the details of his passing nor do I feel I should. All I can hope for is that he found peace wherever he is. As the promo says this was a contest where members of the Psynews community submitted tracks in a bid to be featured on a compilation. I don't know if this was always planned to be dedicated to Koen or not, but it's a nice gesture and one I imagine he would have appreciated. Voted on by the community this is the result. Mastered by Deimos and artwork by Gasolin3, it's ten tracks of varying bpm's and numerous genres. Daikaisho- The first track is a gentle progressive trance number that is a nice opener and helps to ease you into this compilation. Soft melodies and bubbling sounds. Intergalactic Love Song- Didn't Stone Temple Pilots have a hit with...oh, that was Interstate. So obviously we're going bigger. Strong beat and smooth electric piano with long sweeps make this a pumping progressive track. Chromatic Fail- A galloping futuristic darkish track with metallic leads. Not bad. Confusing Patterns- Really like the deep bass line, it's got quite the rumble. It's a forest track with a lush atmospheric feel. Sticky synth sounds abound as the sound manipulation moves full force. Two really good breaks as well. What are they saying? Fl0ating- Smooth and oscillating downtempo that has spiraling leads in a goa fashion. The break felt organic when all the synths dropped out, nice touch. Sound Vibration Technique- And now a track by the very busy Sandwich! Dubby vibes slowly make their way across a picturesque beach. Strings are plucked, vocals are chopped...It'll keep your head nodding. Revelation- Good goa trance track that twists the cutoff knob for all it's worth. Once it gets going it's pretty powerful. Moon Tribe- I believe Imba was the winner of this contest. With this track he stokes the conspiracy fire as the sample about UFO's plays out. Normality- Lapsus delivers the best track of the compilation with a shimmery and ominous effort. Most aggressive also. Very cosmic and one that will hurtle you through hyperspace. Phunnel (Version 1.1)- Closing the compilation is a downtempo track that morphs into a deep trance track. Also very dreamy as the dance of the galaxy marches on. I didn't feel it was proper to crack jokes on a compilation that was meant to be reverential. Just didn't feel right. This is a nice gesture to honor a member of our community. While not the strongest compilation you will hear it shows how much talent is on this forum. With almost an hour and a half of music tracks from different genres are well represented and as a member of this forum I'm happy to have given this a listen. I hope you enjoyed it Koen. 24. Artist: Various Title: Art From The Heart Label: Old Is Gold Date: September, 2009 1. Adrenalin Drum - Tribute To Irvin Prusky 2. NK 47 & The Wonderboy - VVCephei 3. Project Cosmonaut - Over The Sun 4. The Wonderboy - Dedication To God 5. Jikooha - Spirit of Fire 6. Afgin - Apollo 11 (The Eagle Has Landed) 7. Har-El & The Wonderboy - L.S.DRise 8. NK 47 - Yatush Katan 9. Har-El - Vacation In Paradise 10. Apis - Le Voyage Dans Ce Qui Existe Old is Gold is a digital label that was in front of the new school goa trance wave. They had some really good success with the Golden Vibes compilations so they decided to launch another series. Mostly Israeli artists this has some new stuff and some older unreleased material. Tribute To Irvin Prusky- "What are you doing? We don't stop here?" Har-El crafts a floating, melancholy track which I'm guessing he's dedicating to a relative. Good opener. VV Cephei- "It's very addictive...there's nothing that feels like that." Said every bored kid in the back of English class with a low clearance desk ever. In the artists who fell off the face of the planet segment I bring you NK-47. After a promising EP my boy has had his picture posted at all Wal-Mart entrances. What happened to him? This is layered wobbly goa goodness. He goes from minimalistic to Indian melody scales and everywhere in between. Do we need to hold a candlelight vigil? Over the Sun- Ok, two minutes in and I was bored. Dedication To God- "You know, I was like you. But the first thing I learned about emotions...is that it has its price. Complete paradox. But without restraint, without control..." Wow give us a chance to miss you Har-El it's only been two tracks. There are a lot of hippie samples in this one attempting to be enlightening. Artists need to treat them like ice cream. I like a lot of flavors too, but not at the same time. Show a little restraint. The melodies are very simple and patchwork, bordering on been there, done that. Spirit of Fire- So stereotypical. Bring in the Asian when you have a difficult problem you can't solve. Or when there is a need for tentacle porn. But back to the problem. The problem was that this compilation was in real danger of tanking, so Jikooha flies in to save the day. His style is to hammer away with a discordant and incessant melody while building around it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I don't know if he saved it, but he bought some valuable time and kept it afloat. Apollo 11 (The Eagle Has Landed)- Even back in 2009 you could see where Afgin was taking his brand of melodic goa trance. This might even be an old track. Very tight production and the class of the compilation. L.S.DRise- Light and airy it's easily my favorite Har-El track here. Not very complex (I think he likes to keep it simple) just gentle and warming. I know I haven't been kind to Mr. Prusky, but credit where credit is due. Yatush Katan- Beginning with what simply must be called Indian wailing I get that smile on my face as Nadav proceeds to go layer crazy. I swear Bollywood singers have a permanent vibrato. This track has melodies that tumble over each other to be heard. Vacation In Paradise- "The DJ's take pills to stay awake for seven days." And don't forget the ones for high blood pressure and cholesterol. Oh and that little blue one. Another Har-El effort with a very housey sample. repeated over. And over. Yes I get it. It's your house. And enough about the DJ's and their prescription drug habit. How the hell can a six minute track feel like 12? This track saved this compilation from being woefully average the same way you would save a drowning man by throwing him a piano. Le Voyage Dans Ce Qui Existe- Part two of whatever happened to that guy with a solid closer. It bubbles and makes for some good head nodding. So why does it end abruptly like someone pulled the plug? Let's call it what it is. A very average compilation. A couple of great tracks, a few good ones and then a f*ckton of filler. At least the cover for this one wasn't as bad as the sequel. 25. Artist: Lunar Asylum with Sid Shanti Title: Planet X / Another Planet Ep Label: Celtic Records Date: 1996 1. Planet X 2. Another Planet 3. Another Planet (remix) This is a bit of a warbling mess. There. I said it. A fine line exists when one wants to use repetition for the purpose of hypnotism or delivering a message. It entrances, or rather it can entrance. Sometimes it's just annoying. "Are you f*cking kidding me? Stop with the f*cking cherubs Paul! And put some pants on them!! Why don't I just drive you to prison?" Lunar Asylum is Chris Stevenson and Paul Greendale and let's be honest. This...well, uh this ain't their best work. It's noisy and repetitive without a trace of depth. Like a car with no steering wheel it just goes straight. I read Draeke's review on Discogs and he labeled this acid trance. If that's what this is then thank you sir for saving me the time exploring yet another genre. I suppose not everything from 1996 can be gold. Mdk
