  1. Artist: Virtuart (and Friends. He had a lot of help) Title: Virtuart & Friends (see, right there in the title) Label: DAT Motherf*ckin' Records Date: December, 2016 CD1 1 Virtuart & Chronomyst - Vashisht 2 Virtuart & Franky - Wakatoom On The Road 3 Virtuart & Kshoo - Esprit Libre 4 Virtuart & Chronomyst - Sacred Drop 5 Virtuart & Nagar Bhatti - 2068 6 Virtuart & Kshoo - N2 O 7 Virtuart & Maël - Neverending Party 8 Virtuart & Manitù - Red Spirit CD2 1 Virtuart & Chronomyst - Prospector M 2 Virtuart - Light Lifter 3 Virtuart & Chronomyst - L'Karnaj 4 Virtuart & Manitù - Indian Summer 5 Virtuart & Nagar Bhatti - Svadeshi 6 Underhead - Orejuna 7 Virtuart - La Sorcière Des Sables & L'Homme Libre (Sandoz Mix) 8 Virtuart - L'Annee Des 13 Lunes (Galactic Time Mix) Can we get a DAT Records appreciation festival? F*ck a thread, a festival. Just take all the artists who have released on Draeke's label and put them in front of a mountain or sea backdrop for a three day weekend. This is the view from my backyard. I have 2 acres and would volunteer the space. Waitaminute...I've seen what you guys do to a patch of land when the festival is over. Also I'm the youngest in my hood by a generation so you'd probably give them a heart attack. Besides thanks to our Cheetoh in chief (he's such a disgusting douche bag) you probably couldn't get into the states depending on which country you're in. Offer rescinded. But seriously, DAT just keeps on going with quality release after quality release. While I wasn't super impressed with Analog Dreams the rest of them have been home runs. This is an interesting release. Virtuart is Oliver Abitbol and like the title says he enlisted a lot of his friends to make this happen. Originally on the first disc was properly released back in the 90's and only 100 copies were made. The second disc was apparently out there also, but homie just gave it away. So this is nice to have a 2 CD set of music that was super hard to find. But that's what Feds does doesn't he? Oliver made several mixes of these tracks so for this release he compiled the best of those remixes and voila you have disc one. It is old school that churns and evolves with awesome melodies. The layers are thick with atmosphere and thanks to the mastering you can really hear them. I find the whole thing delightfully dark and mysterious and not too polished as to sound artificial. Sacred Drop is the only one I've heard and it reminded me a lot of Colorbox. Disc two has the hard to find tracks and Draeke said he tried to stay true to the tracklist that disc 2 was comprised of when he gave it away to his friends. Oliver's friends. Not Draeke. Draeke doesn't have friends he just bangs supermodels. This music is deep. Full of nice, long tracks replete with twists and turns to keep you interested. Driving rhythms. Let's see...a Pleiadians 3-disc set, a two-disc Etnica set, a Doof 2-disc album and now a 2-disc Virtuart Opus. Can you be my president? Bring your supermodels with you. DAT Records Psyshop Beatspace
  2. Artist: Various Title: Voyager: Third Plateau Label: Hado Records Release: May 13, 2020 Tracklist:- 01. HelixNebula - Over The City Of The Future 02. Artifact303 - Consequences (HelixNebula Remix) 03. Celestial Intelligence - Constant Motion (Median Project Remix) 04. Median Project - Flights In Dream And Reality 05. Fiery Dawn - Boogie Man 06. Midi Junkies & Psychologist - Altay 07. Psychowave - Never Ending Mistery 08. Galaktion & Groove Hunter - Crystal Worlds 09. Sonic Elysium - Thunderstorm HelixNebula – First time hearing this amigo and gotta say it is a great theme to bring to the compilation first up. Floating and uplifting, it really does make it feel like you are floating over a city of futuristic buildings made of gold and glub-glub. Artifact303 (HelixNebula Remix) – The track gets better and better as it goes on, The first had me wondering if something great was going to eventually happen and it sure does. Helixnebula brings more uplifting energy to the comp Cellestial Intelligence (Median Project Remix) – I’ve listened to the original and this version back to back and up n’ down. Median Projects adds flour to the mix and densifies it in a way that only he can. A few extra layers and added zips and hey presto we have ourselves an AAF certified banger. Like the original the track becomes exceedingly more exciting as it progresses. It leaves me feeling light and capable. Median Project - This is the sort of song that got Median Projects name on the map, hidden layers reach up from the depth and screech at you as intensity intensifies. you go from deep sleep in the cold emptiness of space to hyperspeed through a nebula all in the space of 8 minutes and 10 seconds. Fiery Dawn – Whose afraid of the big bad Boogie Man? Not Fiery Dawn, this guy faces his fear head on and damn he does it with gusto today. The track is full bodied with a long finish, think of a Hunter Valley Shiraz. Energy is kept high and every element compliments the last. Fiery Dawn should get a cellar door award for this baby, it’s hot on the lips and only gets better with more listens. This reminds me Midi Junkies & Psychologist – The mood changes into full-on/psytrance territory. I normally don’t go out of my way to listen to this style so I appreciate having it here for me to hear. A lot of effort goes into the mids and highs, it feels like the bassline and kick could have been given a little uniqueness love. Regardless the theme and that 5 minute break into triplets is sweet as pie. An engaging dancefloor stomper. Psychowave – Psychowave comes in with his high quality psytrance, more squelches and psychedelic layers than you can poke a stick at. The track has its moments and no doubt would be a banger on a dancefloor. For my at home listening it lacks anything stable for me to grasp on to as each moment flies by so fast. Cleanest production in the game though. Galaktion & Groove Hunter – Picture sparkling gems overhead, refracting in the forest light as it glimmers through the tree tops. A half dark half, half sparkly track that has some decent grooves, my favourite of the three psy tracks (You’d hope so, that name comes with expectations). Sonic Elysium – Horrifyingly uplifting and full of nice feelings. The main lead is to die for and reminds me of a high quality old school Muses Rapt style. The first listen comes with a lot of excitement as the track grows into what it eventually becomes. Subsequent listens keep the smile on the face as it fills me with empowerment and positivity. Hado Records hit the nail on the head right here right now. The psytrance tracks might not be everyones cup of tea but then again the Goa trance tracks may not be either. Nobody did a bad job here and exceed at each style that is tested out. Sonic Elysium and Fiery Dawn are my favourites, but really I like them all. Not a wasted spot on the comp https://hadorecords.bandcamp.com/album/compilation-voyager-third-plateau - Bandcamp is down at the time of writing this but here is a link anywho. https://www.beatport.com/release/voyager-third-plateau/2994895
  3. Artist: Lifeforms Title: Into The Wild Label: Iboga Records Date: September, 2019 1. Into The WIld 2. Eden 3. Mellow 4. Ahead of Us 5. Lost Behind 6. Raw 7. One of A Kind 8. Away From Here Man I had forgotten about this Israeli project! They made the type of music that refused to be shoe horned into a box. Psytrance, progressive, goa...all with delicate and symphonic touches. It's deep music and is great for those looking for more than just 4/4 beats. And they jump right in with the title track that is a combination of all three. Starts of with a growing progressive vibe, slowly morphs into a psytrance track and then BAM!!...goa trance. What I really like about the tracks is the way they seamlessly slip into a break and expand in a new direction. They go in like a lamb and out like a lion. Also impressed with their samples and the sample placement. When done correctly it really adds to the track. It's not a perfect album and sometimes it falls prey to the cliche's of trance music, but those moments are few. While not as heavily layered as the Nertum album (by far my favorite) this is still a solid offering for those who still want to love psytrance. Psyshop
  4. Hello everyone, since there isn't any review of the compilation, I will post my own view of it. I will also share the stories on how this one came to be and how complex was to release it. I am very proud of it, since we worked very hard and the result is really brilliant. I won't speak of mastering as for me this series is really very well done with the audio marvels of Colin OOOD that took the tracks and gave them new life, balancing every aspect and making them sound the best they could. CD1 - Unreleased The opener, Questions by RA, is a real killer, it comes from the original demo of the band, that never saw the light of the day, and although not credited on the sleeve (by mistake) was also produced by Lars Lind. We amended this on the entry on discogs. We then have Jubilation by Dharma 7, a really mystical tune, composed in the heydays of goa trance, and it sounds rough but polished and has a very haunting feeling to it, I really love it. The melody that kicks in also is very well done and takes the track to another dimension. Next we have Alkaloid. This is Sam from the UK (now relocated to Spain) that produced this track a long time ago. But the quality of the music is really there, it has a mega psychedelic apex in the middle, that makes you think you are listening to Etnica and their mayhem of layers, vintage '96. But it is not them! So that is an indicator of the quality of the music, as they are pretty much some of the best producers that ever made music in this genre. It also was found on a DAT tape in the hand of a New Zealand party goers, who had it next to Etnica - Shadow Dance, curiously named as Etnica - No Name. So, I wasn't the only one making this connection with its sound. Shiva Chandra's Atmosphere, was a track found on a tape in possession of Max Etnica, and was grouped together with other tracks of Daniel. The original DAT title was just Daniel - Atmosphere (misspelled as Outmosphere, who knows what the real title was!). Daniel confirmed it to be his tracks, but wanted the title changed to Atmosphere as he could not recall making up that other name. Great track of the past, a bit rough in some parts maybe but that surely deserved to be included. Little Blue Men. Here we go, this is a true bomb. Very fast, hyper psychedelic and I can guarantee that when I played it in a DJ set in Belgium people really lost it. It's absolutely stellar in every possible way and we have to thank the Swedes for allowing us to release this very old track, long forgotten by the authors but highly sought after by many DAT collectors! It took us a while to find a good master copy of Dr Snuggles Dilemma as the band had no tape of this. Dr Snuggles was originally a cartoon character. Magus. Well, who hasn't dreamed of seeing this track finally released? It is a dream come true. If you know the Greek psychedelic scene you also know that this mythical band was playing some of the most intricate, dark, crazy, mind exploding psychedelic tracks ever made. They were real geniuses in the use of mad samples and combined humorous vibes with swirling acid lines. It's an absolute storming track and we have to thank a Greek friend for helping us in getting the authorization from one half of the band. The other half was happy to help, and was already a contact of mine, so it was half easy, half hard. But I am so glad it could finally come out. I want to say that even if the track is called Black Holes (Remix) it's actually a Re Mix, meaning the original mix was just weaker and they rearranged a few elements to make a better final mix, but there is not really an original version of the track, as the other one is very similar but less finished. Opale - Lord of the Minds. Greg is a real psychedelic warrior. His tracks are absolutely stellar. They are dark and very energetic, and this one features a samples taken from Lord of The Rings. He always likes to use samples from movies, and other tracks he has all feature samples from Hollywood productions. But that's just the starting point, he then creates great atmospheres around the tracks filled with acid driven mad lines, curtesy of his collection of analog synths. And we are glad to have him on board with this tune. Wizzy Noise - Pleione. Well, if you were trading unreleased tracks back on mIRC, ICQ, Napster, Soulseek and WinMX in the late 90s you will surely remember how hard was to get your hands on Wizzy Noise tracks. Often called the Pleiadians of Greece they were creating some absolutely mind-blowing tracks and we needed the help of all the Pantheon to be able to release this monster track. Wizzy project is frozen since 2008 and just a miracle and a pro-charity compilation could make it happen. I was really jumping for joy when I heard the good news, everyone should enjoy this jewel as a sacred offering. It probably won't happen again. Blade's Anthropophagi refers to some tribes who practice cannibalism. The concept is of course dark and obscure but the track is absolutely wonderful in terms of creativity. It has some strange solutions in it but we found it pretty original and unique. I want to add that this musician from Montecarlo made his way into various DAT tapes of the 90s as even XP VooDoo was playing his music in his sets and I think this one surely deserved to come out. Mystery Machine is a British project, and this track was liked by Danny Rampling who played it into a radio show. It only got that single air but yet people were looking for this track for a long time! I remember some blokes from up north writing me to thank me because they finally could enjoy this track, complete and in full quality. I also found the sample pretty interesting and even if it sounds a bit trancey I think it has some defined psychedelic moments in it. CD2 - Vinyl Only tracks Kharma - Harmony. This was a project where Blade from CD1 took part, together with some friends they created a track that is absolutely goanish even if it was released into a progressive trance vinyl on a label that was not specifically related to the goa scene. Back in 94-96 in Italy and in many other EU countries we had this scene that was called "progressive" without any other words next to it and in many clubs DJs were playing a mixture of tracks that more than often were on the verge of being goa, alternating them with more commercial and melodic tracks such as Children by Robert Miles that was one of the most famous anthem of the genre together with X-Form, Florian F, Enere and many others. So this track comes from that era and that genre, reminding me of when I was clubbing in '96 on the Italian coast. Awesome times for sure and this track capture that essence perfectly. Doof - Let's Turn On (Tuned-In Mix). This is probably the last vinyl-only track by our dear Doof that was so kind as to license almost every track he has ever made to DAT Records. We think that this mix deserved to come out as it is less known than the original and the recently released 'Desk Mix' which is a magnificent 9 minutes stormer. But this one is not less interesting, it is very hypnotic and a favourite of DJ Solitare who used to play this back in the days in his sets more than often. I also consider this to be a gem of a mix, which can work very well on the dancefloor, surprising a few peeps as it is very little known. Try it, I like it a lot. Ushuaya - 3 Months. I was thrilled when we recorded this one from the tapes. I immediately understood something was different and then I checked. It's the speed and the pitch. We ripped 3 copies of the vinyl and in all of them the length was different, it was a bit off-tune and so we sent this version to Tim himself who confirmed this to be the real deal, that's how the track was composed and how is supposed to sound. So, back when the vinyl was pressed, something went wrong and they released a track which was not at the right speed/pitch. No worries, it was the 90s and it worked wonders anyway, but here for the first time you get the correct speeded track with a fantastic remastering, a real treasure! Hux Flux - Time Slices. Notably one of the best tracks ever made by Dennis. Seriously, just listen to it, it is absolutely crazy. That ghostly effect it's out of this world and the track is a marvel, it is intense, fast and groovy, a real treat. I am so happy we could finally get this baby to CD and although we could not find a DAT master, we ripped several copies of vinyl and the sapient hands of my friend DJ Sunborn, restored and cleaned this track spectacularly. Then the remastering gave it new life and we really have a jewel here. Deviant Electronics - Catacomb. The last vinyl only of the band really deserves to be here, it's a 10 minute majestic composition. It has a cool vibe to it and makes me want to run and jump. It is very well produced and I was really happy to be able to use it for this compilation. I don't know if Zion604 had any plans for it, but we asked and they were happy to let us use it for this compilation. We thank them for this. I am sure you will be happy about this one as much as I were when selecting it. Cosmosis - Emanations. What's there to say? It's Cosmosis!! There is really no need to say much, the master of psychedelia hailing from the UK has done it again with this track and just as in his other famous tunes there are all the elements of a winner track. That feeling that you immediately understand is one of his tracks is present. It's really unmistakable and sooooo aciiiiiid. I really love his sound, it's brilliant and amazing at the same time. Thanks for this one Bilbo! Semsis - Soundvandal. Originally, we had voted for another track, but since the authors could not be found anywhere, we went for the next in line, which was this great track by Semsis. Everyone knows the flip side of this EP and few ever mention this track to my knowledge. However my good friend DJ Solitare used to play it in his set in the 90s and was very happy we finally picked it. Iain was really awesome and so kind to donate this track for the release. Hiscore - Identify. "Do you identify this object?" Now tell me this isn't the craziest track you've ever heard, pretty mental right? I think it is an absolute stormer and although I usually play it a little pitched up for mayhem effect, it works perfectly also at his original speed. I was happy we could find a deal with the band and with the help of a friend I could acquire this song and donate it to the compilation. The sound that emerged with the mastering is really outstanding and we have a true killer here. Gangguru - X-3. I call these guys the French Etnica as their sound is really somehow similar to the sound of my friends back in 1996. The kick they used is also somewhat similar and the melodies are all there, very special project this one. And I am very thrilled to say much more will come from these guys, as I have been speaking with them and we are preparing a full length release. Anyway, this particular track, is really cool and it is mysterious for me how they could not release something back in the 90s as they clearly were much better than a lot of artists who were produced and released. Mysteries. But it's not too late, we will give this music a new life now and this track is a superb example of their technique. Encens - Howl. A super fun track by Marcello who was super cool and donated the track to the cause last minute as we couldn't get the authorization for another track. But hey, this is a real winner, a fabulous track and I love the sample in it. It really is a great track and I am sure a lot will enjoy this vinyl only track that perfectly closes our compilation. Ideally all these stories would have gone into the booklet, but believe it or not we had no time to go through this phase and the graphic solution I invented, hopefully was appreciated by all of you. The photos were taken by me and my friends, and all the vinyl off my collection scanned and retouched as to look like they were 45RPM 7" singles. I hope you liked this idea and that you enjoyed the hard work behind the whole compilation. 6. Artist: Slinky Wizard Title: Witch Juice EP Label: Flying Rhino Records Date: 1996 1. Slick Witch 2. Lunar Juice (Hallucinogen Moon Strudel Mix) Not a whole lot to say about this release. Well except that it's psychedelic goa trance at it's finest! The second EP from Slinky Wizard where both tracks bring shrieking melodies and bludgeoning power making them a force to be reckoned with. They were released on CD compilations that most of you probably already have. Still it seems like this is readily available on Discogs so if you own a record player and want some bubbly deliciousness then do yourself a favor and pick this up. Mdk

  8. Artist: Lost Buddha Title: The Blessed Eight EP Label: Acid Chemical Plant Records Date: April, 2012 1. Transphiguration 2. Spiral Rotation 3. Sand Castle 4. Eternal Life The Buddha is back! Well, actually he never left. Whether you want to call him Lost Buddha, Amithaba Buddha, or just plain ol' regular fat buddha it's all Filipe Santos, one of the greatest producers of goa trance in the modern era. Here he delivers a 4 track EP that stays true to the old school roots with nimble melodies and sunshine sprinkles. The twisting level is high as the melodies rain down on you like $ bills at a pro football players bachelor party. He slides a trancey non-stormer your way with Sand Castle but that just shows his versatility. Not my favorite as I find he is at his best when he pummels you with melody after melody. Which is what you get with the other 3 tracks. He charges for this one, but just reach into your wallet and give it up. It's worth it. Besides, all the free stuff he has given away? He's earned it. Get it right here for only 4 Euro thingy's. You know you want it. Mdk

  10. Hello. It has been a while since I released anything original as Profetia. Guess this weird worldwide situation inspired me as well. I wanted to produce all sounds on this track with my Virus B synth only, but it's multi-mode was bugging oddly, so I had to take Nord Lead 2 aid. Nevertheless, oldschool style production (as it is also mostly mixed with console/analog compression etc) and hope the outcome would sound like the classic goa of late 90's. The mastering was also made in a way of preserving more dynamic range. https://soundcloud.com/profetia/cme https://profetia.bandcamp.com/track/cme
  11. Tracklist: 1. Magic Lamp 2. Ja'far 3. Camel Ride 4. Dark Pyramids 5. Maharaja 6. Arabian Nights Released March 7, 2017 Music written, composed, produced and mastered by Filipe Santos Artwork by Mystical Arts https://gooddancerecordings.bandcamp.com/album/arabian-nights
  12. Artist: Shakta Title: Retroscape Label: Suntrip Date: November, 2014 1. Somaton - Ouroboros 2. Somaton - Brainwashed (Shakta & Ping Pong Remix) 3. Shakta - It Was Not Human 4. Somaton - Fearful Symmetry 5. Somaton - Principles of Gravity 6. Shakta - Amber Mantra 7. Shakta - Indra's Net 8. Shakta - Cosmic Trigger 9. Shakta - Solar Origins 10. Shakta - Misra Indica 11. Somaton - Dredlarks I mean do I really need to say how brilliant this release is? How the melodies swirl and the 303's growl like a pack of lions? It's powerful goa trance from back in the day from Seb Taylor who is a cornerstone of our favorite genre. Whether it's as Shakta or Somaton it's blistering layered goa trance at an unrelenting pace. Vinyl only, hard to find, or unreleased tracks that will put holes in your wall when you turn it up. This goes right up there with Etnica Live in Athens and Flight 604 Chapter II and the Dimension 5 stuff for me. Absolutely stunning and a must have. Suntrip Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  13. ARTIST: Mindsphere ALBUM: Patience For Heaven LABEL: Suntrip Records YEAR: 2012 FORMAT: CD (Double) STYLE: Psychedelic, Goa Trance TRACKLIST: DISC 1: Patience For Heaven Shape Of Imagination (8:21) World Is Yours (8:34) Cosmos Evolution (8:01) All Alone (8:47) Ornementation (7:57) In To Reality (8:24) Spirits Of Devotion (9:17) Patience For Heaven (7:11) Circled (11:23) DISC 2: Inner Cyclone (Remastered) Painful Stories (11:02) Mindrama (9:56) We Have A Dream (7:48) Wasted Years (8:53) Operation Side (10:37) To Infinity (9:32) Inner Cyclone (11:14) Fusion (7:33) Unique experience. Yes, that happened to me few years ago when I discovered and heard for the first time Inner Cyclone (debut Mindsphere album which was released in 2007 by Metapsychic Records for free). It was a delightful journey into energetic and fastpaced Goa trance music filled with great melodies and striking rhythms, and now after few years and bunch of new releases, old Mindsphere still sounds very inimitable and beautiful. Patience For Heaven is Ali Akgun’s (man behind Mindsphere project) second full lenght release and it was announced on Suntrip Records as double CD, first disc with brand new tracks and second one with new remastered version of Inner Cyclone tracks. When I saw that announcement I was so curious to see will combination Mindsphere + Suntrip deliver another legendary release? With Inner Cyclone, Mindsphere established high standard(s), will he succeed to outperform himself? Play. Play it again. And again. Holy sh**. When I say it’s best produced Goa trance album in last couple of years I’m not gonna lie you with that statement. Patience For Heaven is just made perfectly, without flaws, with intelligent melodic work, best described as spiritual and emotional. Atmosphere of this release is really deep and unlike the Inner Cyclone, PFH is more calmer and even trippy, you can follow easily all details in songs. When I listened to previews on Mindsphere soundcloud few months before release, I knew it will be different but when you check complete piece than you get a new level of experience, highly positive. There are no bad tracks, everything is at right place, with perfect track list/order. If I must pick favorite, than probably at this moment it will be Ornementation tune, but I’m sure some other track will grow on me after couple of more listenings. PFH #1 Disc – 10/10 Let’s see how Inner Cyclone sounds after Tim Schuldts mastering. Play. Better. Much better. Not saying that just to add one more praise to Tims work, I’m saying it because mastering on orginal release in 2007. was bad, too much agressive and indeed, it was great decission for Suntrip/Mindsphere to release Inner Cyclone with new mastering. I’m not gonna review this second disc, there is plenty reviews on Psynews already. You can’t go wrong with this album, it’s a masterpiece. Conclusion – Probably best release in 2012 and one of the best Suntrips releases for sure. They already delivered great Crossing Mind album earlier this year and now this, you must appriciate their efforts for releasing high quality Goa trance music. Many people who are not that much into modern Goa trance told me that they dislike lack of production qualities in this genre and now I’ll be more than happy to ‘rub their noses’ with this release, because it’s produced perfectly, first disc is more releaxed than Inner Cyclone but also much deeper with superb melodic work and Inner Cyclone is, ummmm like a cyclone, fast, intense and highly psychedelic. 14. Artist: Various Title: Dimensional Gateway III Label: Neogoa Date: December, 2012 1. PharaOm - Space Outpost Titan V [142 BPM] (07:40) 2. Trinodia - 7th Ace [139 BPM] (09:02) 3. Screw Loose - So Much To See [145 BPM] (08:10) 4. Astrancer - Fenomena [146 BPM] (09:41) 5. Decadent Sympozium - Lux Invictus [144 BPM] (08:20) 6. Nova Fractal - Redemption [146 BPM] (10:08) 7. Lunar Dawn - Future Of Mankind (Waiting The Dark Years) [147 BPM] (09:22) 8. BlackStarrFinale - Sagittarius A* [145 BPM] (10:59) 9. Menkalian & GoaHuman - Spirit Of Life [120 BPM] (06:34) Creator of the Neogoa label (and now Graviton Records head) Ivan Richpa presents the third installment of the phenomenally successful Dimensional Gateway series. Not only did he compile all the tracks (which I can only assume meant going door to door with the requisite begging and threatening) but he's also responsible for the impressive artwork. A gateway should be ornate, impressive...making you feel like you are about to enter something substantial. To what dimension does this lead? Richard Gere's hamster could not be reached for comment. Gateway drug? I don't think so...unless it's a gateway to laughter and a bag of Doritos. 2. 2 bags of Doritos. And some funions. Crackers. Ritz crackers with some cream cheese. And do you still have those pork rinds? "I tell you B...why doesn't he get some help? Why? I'm tired of tip-toeing around this, he has to know he sounds like this. It's been over 70 years and I still can't understand a f*cking thing Donald says!" So here we go on the journey through the 3rd and presumably final gateway with the usual cast of characters as well as a couple of fresh faces. Space Outpost Titan V- I don't like it. I'm sorry I don't. Oswald Pfeiffer recently released his debut Tesseract (for free) and I found it to be a great album, but this sounds nothing like it. The problem I have with it is that it relies too heavily on samples. In fact it sounds as if the track was built around them instead of using them as an enhancement. It also doesn't help that the samples themselves are quite cheesy. But one thing I did like was that he experimented with a different style. While I might not like it, I definitely respect it. 7th Ace- Daniel Eldström is no stranger to the scene having released Human History (also for free) and Stargazing on Ovnimoon Records. This one is a combination of spiritual goa meets outer space goa. Twirling melodies as you would expect, but when that 303 growls to the surface I take notice like teenager at a Hooters. You can tell he is a storyteller as his break is vast and the launching pad for more snakey leads and a nice full climax. And I think that a nice full climax is something we can all agree on. So Much Too See- "This is one corner...of one country on one continent on one planet that's a corner of a galaxy that is a corner of a universe that is forever growing, shrinking, creating, destroying, never remaining the same for a single milisecond and there is so much, so much to see." Yeah...take it all in. So. Much. To. See. Proof that the Balkans not only dominate progressive trance they have goa trance square in their sights and Sasa Dukic lays a rumbly goa smack down on you. That 303 bounces like it's dancing on a hot stove and did you check the way he slid that sample in there without giving you a chance to catch your breath? It catches you up without strangling you with melody, but you don't have to ponder whether it's goa as he layers nicely. Great track. Fenomena- Like a lot of you Bruno first came to my attention with the Dzog Chen track on the Pyramidal Trancendence comp back in 2006 and it's been high expectations ever since. I mean how do you top that? Well he didn't do it here, but he nonetheless made a ok track. It has power, but not much evolution. Even with that shortcoming it still sounded full and very spacey to my ears. Lux Invictus- Here is the first of the fresh faces with a very shiny and shimmery lead melody line. It's another track that smacks you right in the beginning without many twists and turns, but it's still good. Methinks Ivan may have stumbled upon a gem here. It will be interesting to hear more stuff from this project. Redemption- we all have all done things that we weren't proud of or maybe wish we could've done better. "Ok, so you missed the question on the contents of a twinkie, I dunno I thought you were gonna nail that one, but, but let's move forward. All you gotta do is get clear of this last test and we win the million dollars. You can do it, redeem yourself. That's it, wait for it wait for it...Oh c'mon!! Damnit, you had this!" More Croatian dominance as Renato Brnić delivers another long goa tale. The beginning and break resembles Filteria's Filtertraces and he has a great Shawshank sample with Morgan Freeman speaking about...you guessed it redemption. That guy's voice is legendary. I'd be riveted listening to him read the terms of my mortgage. Besides Morgan's awesomeness it's a goa track that doesn't sound like a goa track. Sure the elements are there, but none of the cliche stuff that some are sick of hearing. Great track. Future Of Mankind (Waiting The Dark Years)- Lunar Dawn owns the Chuck Norris of tracks on this compilation. Overtly aggressive with searing leads and 1970's power. I really don't know what that last part means. "B*tch, don't touch Chuck Norris's steering wheel!" With a nice calm before the storm intro you can tell right away this isn't your daddy's buddhist monk goa trance. He layers sounds like my kid stacks leggos. Which reminds me: When Chuck Norris steps on leggos, leggos cry. The pace is brisk with only short breaks and it travels like a tsunami adding to it's destruction total. One if my favorites surely! Sagittarius A- Luis Pabon seems to believe that you have nothing better to do with your time because he offers an 11 minute track. AND YOU WILL LISTEN TO IT! It's got lasers in it. You like lasers. And that lead that sounds like the one in Blade when they walked into the "club" and the showers came on. Only it wasn't water. Oh no it was blood. That's how you do a vampire movie Twilight b*tches. Powerrrrrr. Sorry about that I was leaning on the r. Spirit of Life- And to close things out we get some fresh blood here with a downtempo-ish type track. I like that it's not a true downtempo track. After the previous tracks that would be like going through the windshield at 65 miles an hour. I think that's like 476 kilometers for the Euros. But you might want to check my math. The sound of this one is more melancholy and Lord of the Rings than Event Horizon if you get my meaning. Still nicely drifting and a great way to close it out. So there you have it. Ivan has done it again with the 3 volume of this series. Plenty of goa with a heavy dose of psychedelia to see you through. As with the previous albums this one is also free and I think will be available December 1st. Congratulations to him and all the artists that continue to make this series something to look forward to. Coming Very. Very. Very. Soon. Mdk

Jan Rechberger) (145 BPM) 14 - Reloaded (Part 2 Reloaded) (146 BPM) "The future is one world...one thought...one mind." I used to be into comic books "Worst. Reviewer. Ever." Bet you don't say that to my face. Girl look at this body...I work out. Sure today it's cool with all the graphic novels and movies but that is a recent development. If you're into it now you're dark and mysterious. Not sad and lonely with a snacking problem. Hell these days everyone and their grandmother plays video games. It wasn't too long ago this was your champion. Not so funny when it hits close to home is it Poindexter? What's the point? Keep your shirt on Nancy I'll get there. This is Krys Kylven and if you are on this forum then you probably already know who he is. The beautiful mind behind some of the most twisted and dark goa trance ever made. If goa trance was a penis (I don't like where this is going) then it was at it's hardest in 1997. That was when the original Ultimate Experience was released assuming its rightful position next to the other greats of the genre. So what has Kris done to top it? How about remastered versions as well as some unreleased tracks? But wait...there's more. It's free. I know right? For those of us who missed the outer space carnival ride that was goa trance in the mid nineties and all the vets screaming for a remaster it's Christmas come early. 14 tracks including an intro and an outro as well as previously unreleased versions. If I could ask Kris a question, I guess it would be this. Did it hurt? Did it hurt being ripped away from your family only to be probed by your alien abductors only to be inseminated with their musical ability? Because normal humans can't make music like this. If this album was a superhero it would have the bludgeoning power of Thor's hammer and the uncontrollable rage of the big green guy combined with the intelligence of Mr. Fantastic and the alien quality of the Silver Surfer. I realize my inner nerd has become my outer nerd, but what music! We've all heard the classics many times, but never have they sounded so crisp. Driving and screaming it felt like you were in my living room. I could hear every nuance and contributing layer heightening the experience. There is just change after change making each track so lush and vivid. And it's one pumping futuristic cyber beat down after another. There is a reason this is a classic and with this fresh coat of paint its brilliance takes on an even brighter shine. Alien at its core with effects crawling in between dark melodies it's like listening to new tracks. Speaking of new or unreleased tracks (outside of the very ambient Matrix-esque intro and outro) say hello to Space Puppy II with Syb Unity Nettwerk (yeah still him) as it shreds meninges and fits perfectly on this album. Millenium Generation produced from an old DAT tape is more electronic chaos that maintains the sci-fi feel with eerie melodies and metallic textures. The Epic Mix of Master of the Universe is fine, but I prefer the original. Dominion ( Digital Frontier Live Remix Reloaded) is another mix I have never heard and I don't know if it is recent or one of the tracks they had lying around. Regardless it is another punishing addition to this man's legacy with its heavy industrial leanings. The final extra is a track called Children of the Night feat. Jan Rechberger who is the drummer of a metal band Amorphis. It's less goa and more industrial psytrance that makes me think of FLA or Front 242. That's a lot of praise heaped upon an album. It's worth it and then some as this is one of the most original works in the genre. Powerful, atmospheric, and melodic it doesn't get old. The fact that he offered this for free is a true gift to anybody who hasn't heard it. Is there anything that would take away from this outstanding work? There are some who argued that the cover is a mess (and I would've preferred the original), but with content that is this superlative you could've put a pile of dogsh*t on the front and it wouldn't deter me in the slightest. No brainer. Get this. Now. Ektoplazm Mdk
  18. Artist: Various Title: Forever Psychedelic II Label: Matsuri Digital Date: March 2018 1. Endora - Joy (Oforia vs Tsuyoshi Suzuki vs D.E.D.E. Remix) 2. Tsuyoshi Suzuki & Jikooha - The Land of 505 3. MTL (Funky Gong & Ubar Tmar) - Megathrust 4. DJ James Monro - Vantage Point 5. Kurosaki Tamao (K.U.R.O. & Ubar Tmar) - Future OM 6. D.E.D.E. - Future Drugs 7. Oforia - What Did That Make You Feel "We are the future!" With the absolute f*ckton of releases that seem to come out every week you could spend a good portion of your work week digging for more gold than this guy. That's why it's such a satisfying feeling when you do finally come across one after being burnt I don't know how many times. Forever Psychedelic is a fairly weak compilation in my opinion released back in 98 by Matsuri Productions yet it has its following. So here comes the digital spirit of the label with part 2. Sequels generally suck, but this is one of the exceptions. A few notes... -While I believe the original Joy by Endora is classic goa trance and superior to this remix, this is what remixes are about. Make it your own with a hint of what made it great to begin with. -With Land of the 505 there's some uncontrolled wielding of 303 madness here and this went from a good track to a great one with the last blistering 2 minutes. -In the "they can't all be winners" department Megathrust. I wanted to shove this right back up that guy's smell hole until the last two minutes. - James Monro (of Technossomy fame) lays out a very eerie progressive trance track brimming with atmosphere supplemented with a little more gravitas at the end. Good stuff. -Future OM is a sneaky, evolving bit of electricity heavily laden with futuristic dread. One of the standouts with the acidic car wash putting an exclamation point on it at the end. -Planet Drugs and How Did That Make You Feel were fine, but ultimately didn't move the needle for me. This was indeed a good find and hope that more people will think so as well. Beatport

  20. ARTIST: Nova Fractal ALBUM: Fractal Landscape LABEL: Ovnimoon Records YEAR: 2012 FORMAT: CD STYLE:Psychedelic, Goa Trance, Full-On TRACKLIST: Through Our Senses (7:24) Autopsy (7:23) Perplexed (8:01) Reality Of Life (8:23) Sky Technology - Back To Future (Nova Fractal Remix) (8:46) Perception (7:12) Connect (7:55) Common Cold (8:39) Blindsight (7:55) PharaOm - Cellar Door (Nova Fractal Sunrise Remix) (7:50) Nova Fractal, probably my favorite newschool Goa trance artist and definitely one of the finest from Croatia, in my humble opinion. So who is this dude who suddenly started releasing some powerful and highly energetic Goa trance tunes? Well, it is Renato Brnic, 27 years old producer, from Slavonski Brod who started doing some trance music (more on the commercial - eurotrance side of things) and after some time he decided to change his style and voilà now he’s doing proper Goa trance and I like it, so excuse me because I’m not gonna be that much objective (I had privilege to release 80% of this CD on my netlabels during 2011/2012.). Fractal Landscape kicks off with ‘Through Our Senses’ and intro for this one is gorgeous, lovely atmosphere at the start with nice dive into rhythmic part around 2nd minute. Structure of this track is something that you’ll find in most Goa trance tunes, first couple of melodies introduces you with the ‘theme’ of the track and after the break(s) you get the complete picture, so yup, TOS is something like that and on climax you can just feel the special energy, energy that shows who and what Nova Fractal is. Great track. ‘Autopsy’ - second track on the album and probably the most agressive one, it’s fast with strong beats alongside with that awesome driving fullonish bassline that I dig so much. I know, I know, many of you who’re into Goa trance, don’t like it but in my case, basslines like this one are something that I always love to hear in my newschool Goa (a wise man once told me ‘taste is a taste’), so I’m not gonna care if you disagree with me on this one. Around 4 minute mark, you’ll probably feel tiny dosage of repetitiveness, but hell no, here comes another melody and it closes this track very nicely. Sometimes I’m so perplexed and probably that’s the main reason why I love the next tune on this album. Nah, kidding, I love it because it’s freakin’ Goa trance awesomness. Yes, I’m talking about ‘Perplexed’, track I’ve heard in demo version for Future Architecture compilation and I was amazed how beautiful this one is, so without any futher thinking, I decided to release it and let me be honest with you here, it’s still one of the favorite tunes among the Goa trance fans, probably because Perplexed got intense melodic work, perfect break and climax afterwards. Best track on the album. ‘Reality Of Life’ is next track and honestly, I find this track average, not because it’s bad or something, but it always sounded kind-of-mellow to my ears. Only part of this track that sounds great is around 06:20 with huge burst of melodies and it finishes nice, but overall it’s not something that I find equally good as other tracks on this album. Now you’ll probably ask: ‘Ummm you don’t like that track but still you decided to release it on DG2, compilation’. Funny thing, but sometimes when you’re doing compilation you got to know that you’re not doing it just for yourself, or for couple of people, you have to know that there are people in Goa trance who actually love mellowish Goa trance approach, with an almost-cornymelodies and overall feeling. It’s not a bad track, one more time, but it’s just not the type of Goa trance that I like that much. Sky Technology’s ‘Back To Future’ remixed by Nova Fractal is next one. It kicks off with nice intro, swirlling effects and sounds all around and after one minute kick starts, semi-melodies, nice pumping bassline, much different than orginal, but still very very nice. Break around 3rd minute is done nicely and melodies afterwards are cool too. It is more relaxed remix and it won’t be that much ‘in your face’ as the orginal tune. I like it. ‘Perception’ was released by Ovnimoon Records on their Mysteries Of Psytrance Vol.2 compilation in February 2012. I think, and feedback regarding that tune was mostly positive. It’s much more melodic than usual Nova Fractal’s work and basiclly you hear the melodies during 80% of tracks duration. Not a bad thing at all, but it’s just a bit over the top. Earlier this year I decided to unleash compilation of previously unreleased Neogoa demo tracks and one of the was ‘Connect’, track number 7 on Fractal Landscape and I’m happy about Renatos decision to involve this track on album aswell, I find it great and it got that structure that I love, with nice development (especially on melodies), with superb breaks and climax. Connect is great. Number 8 is ‘Common Cold’, released in 2011 on Main Sequence Star EP. So far I’ve heard couple of versions and I think this one is slightly different than orginal track. What to say about this one? It’s the fastest track on the album and it got the most awesome climax and somebody will find it a bit corny and chessy but I like it, it’s much better than ‘Reality Of Life’ to my ears. Very nice track! ‘Blindsight’ was released on Croatian psytrance compilation ‘Entities 2.0’ earlier this year and it’s a nice tune with neat melodies and a bit slower and calmer background atmosphere. It’s an emotional fullonish Goa trance tune and overall good track. Last track on ‘Fractal Landscape’ is PharaOm’s ‘Cellar Door’ Sunrise remix. Renato already made one remix for this track and this is another one, a bit shorter than first version of ‘Sunrise Remix’ It’s different than ‘Timeless Remix’ and I’m gonna be honest here, I like more ‘Timeless Remix’, but I’m sure many of you will like this one. Conclusion - Almost complete ‘Fractal Landscape’ is available for free download and that’s a fact, almost all tracks were published previously around on various netlabels but that doesn’t change the fact that this one is a must have and worthy buying. Collectors will have neat album with almost 80 minutes of highly explosive Goa trance with big melodies and great production, plus new mastering should improve overall quality of the music. I’m greatful to Renato for all his input in Neogoa and upcoming Graviton releases and I wish him all the best with this debut, he deserves it, plus I need to thank him for this promo digital copy of album, so I’ll try to update this review with links for purchase when actual CD comes out on Ovnimoon Records. 22. Hey there! My name is Seppe, and I just made my profile here. I've been producing goa trance for 2 years now, and my artist name is Globox. My goal is to make tracks with a more 90's oldschool sound, but I don't know if it always works out that way though :p I like to put a lot of acid in my music, but still keep it very melodic. Recently, I played my very first live-set at a party in Brussels, and now I uploaded it to mixcloud. Most of these tracks were never released online, so tell me what you think (P.S. you can find me on Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/globoxgoa), but most of my tracks aren't online.)
