  1. Artist: Various Title: The Encroachment Label: Timecode Records Date: November, 2003 1. Artifakt - Drugged and Base 2. Phyx - Cro-Magnon 3. Stralia - Airlock 4. Shift Vs. The Slug - Apocalypse Cow 5. Twisted System - Vile Substance 6. Rabdom L - The Decoy 7. Tickets - Terminal Personalities 8. Rastaliens - Troll 9. Ghreg On Earth - Output Device "Fantasies...have to be unrealistic. Because the moment, the second that you get what you seek...you don't, you can't want it anymore." This one. This was the one that saw Timecode begin to emerge from solely being just a label of screeching leads and dark overtones to something that forced people to take notice. Their sound was blossoming, becoming more substantial. The melodies began to appear and they were far from cheesy. The big beat and deep throbbing bass line remained as they found their calling. A new subgenre of psytrance began to scream from the dark and this label perfected it. From the classic Apocalypse Cow and impending explosion of Vile Substance Timecode became a force to be reckoned with. They weren't at the pinnacle of their success yet...but it was coming. 4. Artist: Various Title: Timecode Anestetic Label: Timecode Records Date: December, 2013 1. Rinkadink - Elements of Water 2. Deeper In Zen Vs. Mad Maxx - Rainbow Body State (Mekkanikka Mix) 3. Android Spirit - Scarface 4. Iliuchina - No Turning Back 5. D_Maniac - (Es)Cape Town 6. Orca & Shameless - Step Back 7. D_Maniac & A-Mush - Music & Fire 8. Phyx & Tryambaka - Item 9 9. Tickets - Deep Blue Ocean 10 Sick Addiction - Masked Addiction 11. Deedrah - Reload (Tickets Remix) "All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break 'em for no one, you understand?" This explains a lot. I like visiting old friends. You get to see how they're doing, relive past experiences, and see what's going on in their lives in the now. Timecode is just such a friend to whom I've been listening for about a decade. This label burst onto the scene with what we now know as the South African sound. Darkly atmospheric, laden with acid and bursting at the seams with bruising power. Revolutionary psytrance that continues to be copied today. Their latest is a digital release and we see some old friends as well as some new ones. What you get is a mixed bag with equal parts fingernails on a chalkboard along with flashes of what made this label so iconic. Rinkadink combines a house gro ove with Artifakt techno t hat grew on me with repeated listens Mekkanikka continues to offer his brand of sanitized ultra shiny f ull-on, but this one wasn't bad and actually grew on me as well. Scarface of course samples the movie and is one of those flashes. No Turning Back is also a powerful standout along with the too short Deep Blue Ocean by Tickets. What was once the high school quarterback banging all the cheerleaders is now the balding middle aged guy selling insurance in the town he never left. There were some good tracks here that began to approach the label's heyday, , but they were offset by equally bad tracks that slammed that window shut. Some of the tracks were more of the commercial Nutek variety with incessant buildups and that whole increased bpm wind up thingy. The bombastic take no prisoners twilight insanity that they created is lacking on this compilation. Other labels seem to have surpassed them in delivering that night time craziness. Far from bad and being on life support, you might still want to look into some life insurance. I know a guy. Timecode Bandcamp Mdk
  5. Artist: Morphem Title: Magma EP Label: Tunnel Records Date: 1996 1. Magma 2. Closed Sector 3. Nothing Left "This sector is closed to ground traffic." Man they don't make 'em like this no more. Magma (also on the Out of Focus album) is the definition of a blistering goa track. Such energy! If you can't twirl to this there is no hope for you. This must absolutely wreck a dance floor. Closed Sector is more in depth with a futuristic vibe. Nothing Left is more psytrance I suppose. Still the EP is worth searching out for Magma alone. It's volcanic! I'm sorry, that's on me. Terrible. 7. Artist: Menog & Iliuchina Title: Dirty Passion EP Label: Spectral Records Date: May, 2013 1. Menog - Boom Festival 2. Menog & Iliuchina - Illusion of Reality 3. Iliuchina - You Drive Me Crazy 4. Menog & Iliuchina - Black Hole Not you Daniel. Get outta the way. *pimp walks up to Iliuchina* "Hello baby how you doin?" *licks finger and touches shirt and then proceeds to touch Iliuchina's shirt* "How bout you and me get outta these wet clothes and do...what we really wanna do?" *spits out tooth and wipes blood of lip* "What'd I say? Menog (Daniel Bernardo) and Iliuchina (Veronica Iliuhin Loren) team up for a powerhouse of an ep. Daniel has been holding it down since forever, but Veronica is relatively new to the scene. Underestimate her at your peril. Boom Festival certainly brings the boom along with acid wipes and futuristic laser barrages. The opening LSD sample creates the atmosphere as if I were waking up groggy from the operating table. Illusion of Reality is another eerie entry in this twilight spectacle. Maybe a little too heavy on the sample, but the significant bump of the kick and bass line will make that seem like a minor complaint at best. You Drive Me Crazy sees Veronica on her own with a high energy track (and that's different from the others how?) that once again isn't short on thump. There is no story here. It's just get the f*ck out of the way. Black Hole is blistering mayhem that isn't afraid to go into a break and wind you up again. Daniel once again shows the young bucks how to devastate a dancefloor. Iliuchina shows that she is someone to be reckoned with and capable of carrying the twilight torch. If Daniel ever decides to let go of the f*cking thing that is. Get your intensity on. Beatport Mdk
  8. Artist: Various Title: Spectral Circuitry Label: Ektoplazm Date: December, 2011 01 - Xamanist - Restart (140 BPM) 02 - Magic & Witchcraft - Erotic Nightmares (139 BPM) 03 - Ekoplex - Elewa (143 BPM) 04 - ManMadeMan - Technoid Energized (142 BPM) 05 - EvsY - Headbanger’s Wall (145 BPM) 06 - Planewalker - Sine Qua Non (143 BPM) 07 - Rigel - Crying God (145 BPM) 08 - Amygdala - Wintermute (140 BPM) 09 - Sound Field - Technological Terror (Jikkenteki Remix) (138 BPM) 10 - Phobium - No Longer Current (90 BPM) "I am insane...and you're my insanity." This is the 2nd compilation released by the Ektoplazm label, the first being Organic Circuitry back in 2008. You've got your Ekto regulars as well as a few newcomers. Couple things... One, Ektoplazm does a great service for the psychedelic community in releasing tons of free, legal, quality music. I think we can all agree that the scene would surely suffer without his efforts. Second, this is a pretty interesting compilation. There are a multitude of styles which should appeal to many listeners. And I think that's it's strength and weakness. While the tracks were entertaining none of them were outstanding or particularly memorable. Personally I found the first four tracks rather unremarkable and it kind of put me off listening to this compilation. It was mentioned that the album would start with "humble beginnings", but just couldn't get into it, you know? The sound quality however is excellent as usual. Amygdala and Phobium were my favorites. That said, it's still not bad and I'm glad I gave it a listen. Free At Ektoplazm Mdk
  9. Artist: Various Title: The Fractal Effect Label: Fractal Records Date: February, 2014 1. Braindriver - Black Candy 2. Geko Vs. Technodrome - Mathematical Models 3. Tryon - The Answer Is The Power 4. Iliuchina - Play Time 5. Alienn Vs. Zinx Vs. Wired - It's About Time 6. Karmacrop - Interplanetary Origins 7. Shuumat - Harmonic Therapy 8. Frozen Ghost Vs. Selective Hearing - Operation Thunderbolt 9. Orca - Never In A Million Years Fractal Records you confuse me. At times you have released some awesome stuff. But then on the other side of the coin I want to push you in front of traffic. This release is an example of both. The playlist looks great with some of the top names in the twilight genre, but there is the unmistakeable stench of that shiny, triplet heavy, weak full-on. I wrote this awhile ago so let's see if I can clarify. Black Candy- "Seems almost a message coming from space!" Yeah and that message is nobody likes the black licorice. No offense, but when you want some sweet candy you're not looking for some Ouzo. It's the red headed stepchild of candy. It started off sweet with some power and the dark atmosphere, but then went the commercial route. Mathematical Models- Geko and Technodrome? This has the potential to go awry very quickly. And that triplet I was talking about? Yeah it's here. Felt like I was riding a motherf*cking horse. The Answer Is The Power- "A secret fraternity..." Only the very stupid can call this man brother. The best yet, but that's not saying much. I've heard far superior stuff from you Telmo. Face it...you mailed this in. Play Time- "Play time is over." Yes, clearly as play time is supposed to be fun. Generic twilight that has been watered down like some stinky herb is an inevitability I suppose. The lead that resembles a homogenized electric guitar wins no points with me. It's About Time- Alienn or as I like to call him twilight Jesus paris up with Zinx and Wired for the heavy hitter on this compilation. Lasers and acid go together like chocolate and anything and you'll get your fill here. Pretty intense. Interplanetary Origins- Khopat + Sidhartha = a pretty good team. You get futuristic sounds and I know they're out there samples over a punishing acid shower. And that's about it. Good enough for you? Harmonic Therapy- "What's your feeling when I say drugs?" Get back on them. This track needs a serious shot in the ass. Not terrible, but you're playing with the big boys now. Kinda. Operation Thunderbolt- "All things being equal this one's my favorite." It could've been. Acid, great sample placement, and that twitter that gets the backfield in motion makes this a treat. Those leads are intense so if you've got a headache or even the beginnings of one steer clear of this. Not his best work either with too many stops and starts, but it's one of the best ones here. Picture scratching your dad's records and instead of worrying over it you say f*ck you Dad wanna share these mushrooms I just got? Never In A Million Years- Did you happen to hear Orca's latest album Redefined? And this guy talks to empty chairs. It was one of the worst efforts I've ever heard and redefined how maybe I've been too hard on dogsh*t. Luckily this predates that and is actually isn't as much of a clusterf*ck as I thought it would be. I like the juxtaposition of the old corny song with the intensity of today. Kinda like what Jay-Z did with Hard Knock Life. The acid deluge at the end helps prop up some of the weaker sections of the track like the buildups and the...well you know. Remember back in the mid 2000's when labels like Timecode, Nexus Media, and Yabai were just wrecking sh*t with their music? Twilight music that was rough and powerful with dark atmosphere. Acid aplenty and not just for acid's sake. Tracks that would lead somewhere instead of just vomiting everything they've got right onto your plate? Well this isn't that. There are spots where it's good and I imagine it would get the job done on the dance floor. But it's marred by too much polish, too much commercial shinyness that seems more concerned with fitting into today's algorithm of what the twilight sound has become. So I guess I'll say not bad, but not great. Beatport
  10. This is a dj set I recorded while brainstorming for some opening sets for parties like Occultrance and Old is Gold in Belgium. It's not your typical party music, but more like a trippy listening set... I chose some nice storytellers from back in the days, like the works of Tandu and Mushroomman. Hope you'll enjoy! Comments welcome, as I'm only doing this for the dancefloor, and your home listening pleasure! http://www.mixcloud.com/Psyt3k/psytek-telltale-gravitational-wobble/ 1. Mushroomman - Crystaldelic 9. Tandu - The System 10. Mushroomman - Dreamer 11. Nasha - Silky Bliss
  11. Artist: Psilocybian Title: Brain Dissolver Label: Unreleased Date: 2012 1. Sponge 2. The Creator 3. Reality Bomb 4. Integrated Circuits 5. Brain Dissolver 6. Spooky Doobi Doo 7. Interconectedness 8. Human Show 9. Peyotl 10. Strange place to play Allow me to introduce to you one of the best psytrance artists you may not be listening to. I realize I shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition, but we've always been a little informal around here and it ain't like I'm writing a letter to Congress. The lack of the f word should make that clear. Ok, just one. "Hey Congress...f*ck you." I think I just gave my high school English teacher a stroke. This is Sasa Dukic and he is preparing to release his third album Dreamtime. The review is finished, but I thought it would be good to immerse myself in his previous works to see what he's all about. Wry Figments was good, but he's stepped up his game with this puppy. Sponge- Let's get down to business. And he does with an opener that flaunts some high tech atmosphere and moves with a little bad ass swagger. It gets a little rambly, but it eases you into his world. The Creator- Pumping beats and a rolling bass line set you up like bowling pins and he knocks you down with echoing leads and effects. Now. You're playing. With Power. Reality Bomb- "My dear friends you're now about to enter the nerve center. Inside of this room all of your dreams become realities, and some of your realities become dreams." Growling leads, intensity...what is not to like here. Gooey bass sounds, lasers and melodies. It's like Willy Wonka had a wet dream and it came out as cream cheese frosting. Integrated Circuits- Purely an effects driven track that is fit to burst with cyber energy and sounds. Amelodic on its face yet strangely warmed by the hum of machinery. Undulating electronic waves oscillate creating tributaries of neural pathways. Brain Dissolver- "From you alright?!? I learned it from watching you!" Lasers are fired in the opening salvo as more energy drips in fractal shapes on a cold and sterile floor. The layers multiply making this a storming track and a f*cking cracker of an omelet. Spooky Doobi Doo- Sounds fire into the atmosphere as the kick and bass hold you captive. Mesmerized by the spooky 1950's sound the break brings a massive lead streaking across the sky. You can't bury that 303 amidst all those layers. I hear you. Interconnectedness- Bubbling electronic energy hugs the beat and this really reminds me of the work of Braincell (how prophetic). Liquid sounds hang in the air crackling with multi-colored sparks. De-Licious! Human Show- More liquid sounds pool and it maintains the vibe, but this one was a little thin. Peyotl- "Peyote is supposed to give you a sense of peace and a feeling of oneness with nature." Not to mention a wicked high. You always leave that bit out and then you see yourself on YouTube running around a McDonald's with war paint on your face and a three iron in your hand declaring yourself lord and ruler of the deep fryer. Tragically, his mother's words finally rang true and his face did stay like that. This track is slower and preparing you for the come down. That's what I first thought, but the more I listened to it, the more trippy it became. Strange Place- Ending this psychedelic ride is a dubby piece of downtempo. Eerie with racing leads and a drum kit that is so real you'll think it's in your living room. Slower yet not slow it is a great way to come down. So that's his style. Bring the thundering kick to numb you, shower you with effects to transport you into his mind, and hypnotize you with swirling leads. Pretty good formula. There is always something going on with sounds in a perpetual ricochet. The mood is dark, but he doesn't abandon you to the black. He gives you a handrail of light to guide you. Another thing, he flirts with goa like an eighth grader flirts with his sister's blessedly overdeveloped friend during a sleepover. This really is an orgy of electronic bubbling and cyber sounds that create a futuristic and detailed tapestry. A few good tracks, but the rest are spectacular. It's a shame this was never released, but that will change very soon. Psyshop Mdk
  12. Artist: Lifeforms Title: Sub Standards EP Label: Iono Music Date: March, 2014 1. Sub Standards 2. Extraterrestrial If you like lush, atmospheric tapestries of sound in the psygressive vein then this duo is for you. It's a short two track ep, but not a measure is wasted. It's grand with effects and synths echoing toward the unreachable horizon. Gentle and forceful during the same track, this is living breathing music. If you're a fan of the Iono style (like I am) put your headphones on and just drift. Well done. Beatport Psyshop Mdk

  14. Artist: Various Title: Dead Can Dance Label: One Foot Groove Date: May, 2014 1. Iliuchina - Brain Magic 2. Biorhythm - Sunquake 3 3. Dark Nebula & Tantrum - Neophyte 4. Sub-Zero - Ego Killer 5. Zion Linguist - Bam Bam Thea (Ironstein Remix) 6. Glitch - Dirty Game 7. Tryambaka - Dead Can Dance 8. Sick Addiction - Scooby Groovy Boo 9. D_Maniac - Dragon Tribute Zombies. "Dig thru the ditches and burn thru the witches...!" Brainless Zombies Walk...Dancing Dead. Movies have taught us that zombies are mindless creatures, hungry for brains or at the very least very competent in synchronized dance. Which makes this the perfect soundtrack for dead people. Loaded with samples and embarrassing stops and starts only the brainless or those so high as to act brainless could enjoy this. It's a perfect example of an attempt at quality twilight music gone horribly wrong. Very wrong. It was tough to choke this moldy cheese down let me tell you. Like a constipated grandfather who wolfs down prune juice in search of relief there's an awful mess waiting for those who choose to swallow this. Cornball melodies and just outright boring and uninspiring music is what this compilation is all about. Every one of the artists (at least the ones I'm familiar with) have produced waaaay better stuff than this. I tried to find one redeeming quality to this sh*tshow, but only found salvation at the end of the delete key. You're dead to me! Dead!! "Dude, look at the cover...we're already dead." DEADER! 18. So first before you do anything, check this link: http://thedancemusicguide.com/ What is this site? Well since Ishkur hasn't updated his in some time (though I heard rumors that he is currently building a new updated site but whatever), a guy I know started this site for stuff that is after 2000. It's not meant to be an extremely extensive site with lots of description but more of a showcase of different styles and the songs from each style over the past 14-15 years. So the guy who is in charge of the site and he asked me (and a few others) to help him out. As you can already guess he is asking for help in the psy-trance portion. While for now he is planning to put it under the trance section, he said he might consider making its own section since it is a huge genre with diverse styles. So what am I asking? Well if you look at the site you will notice how it is split into different years such as 2000-2003, 2004-2007, 2008-2011, 2012-2014. My problem is that I have a lot more Goa and other stuff than other styles like dark psy (which I enjoy some but not as much as the other stuff). What are 14 tracks you guys think can best represent these time periods. I have my own list of stuff but I wanted to check out and see if there's more stuff out there that is good. I try to keep a balance between Goa, Full On, Dark, some Progressive, and just Psytrance that doesn't really fit under these styles. Thanks for your help (if you do help)!

Syb Unity Nettwerk - Sun Invaders [Full Moon Mix] 4. NervaSystem & Aether - Distorted Waves Of OM (Slight Return) 5. Aurax - Inordinately Haggard (Live) 7. Graham Wood - Spaced In 8. And we sat there and water flowed over us and it was beautiful, beautiful. The sun was glistening off our beautiful young bodies and we climbed up out of the water and found that we were all...covered...with...leeches!" I love being a goa trance fan these days. There is so much variety and different styles from which to choose. One trend that labels like DAT Records, Zion 604, and Anjuna have honed in on is our seemingly insatiable desire for unreleased old school goa. Apparently the artists of the golden days knew this time would come so they held on to their DAT tapes of tracks that previously never saw the light of day. Anjuna is a label that is really going balls out with their releases including limited edition inverted CDs as well as T-shirts. Tribal Encore (their debut compilation) was a success releasing tracks you wouldn't hear from other labels. I didn't like all of them, but Anjuna realizes that all of the tracks are part of the rich history of goa, and pleasing everyone all the time is an impossibility. I've had discussions with them and they are more concerned with keeping that history and old school spirit alive than in turning a profit. Once again their latest compilation contains tracks that were either previously unreleased or only found on vinyl. Taiyo (Process Imperfect Simulant Remix)- The original track can be found on Cyclone and the Chakra Remix can be found on Geomantik. I like this one the best. It sound s more organic with beeps and squeals above the deep bass. X-Files (Visitors Remix)- Yeah...no. This is some thumping psy with tribal screams and I don't care for it. Whatever, I didn't like the original version either. That said as a remix it's a win because it is so dramatically different than said original. Sun Invaders [Full Moon Mix]- Syb Unity Nettwerk (Kris Kylven) doesn't make bad tracks and this is no exception. Constantly evolving this is pretty good. Distorted Waves Of OM (Slight Return)- Nervasystem and Aether deliver one of the tracks of the compilation. It squelches and squeals coalescing it's layers into quite the stomper. Lot's of folks are excited about Anjuna's next release which is some unreleased Nervasystem. Me being one of them. Awesome track and you gotta wonder how this puppy never saw the light of day. Inordinately Haggard (Live)- Psychedelic goa to the core! Browling like a lion and bubbling like a vat of steaming acid this track shrieks to anyone who'll listen. Sometimes sharp sometimes laid back it's a definite highlight. Full Potential- Another track that never made it to primetime or anytime actually. Lots of alien noises and dark psychedelia especially near the end. Spaced In- Graham Wood (Half of the Infinity Project) up next with another unreleased gem. It gurgles and bounces with head nodding goodness. Nothing too intricate, but when you layer all that bubbling it makes twirling much easier. Varstar- If Distorted Waves was number one than this is 1A. Darkness has a name and it's Varstar. Feel that low bass deep in your physical center as sinister vibes bursting with evil froth over. God it's so clear and lush I feel as though I could squeeze it through my fingers! Master Of The Universe (Epic Live Re-Mix Live with Front 242)- And now the one that got mouths salivating. Already one of the greatest goa tracks in history, but now with more Front 242! It's live so you can hear the crowd cheering which I like. Always gives a boost of energy. I don't know what part Front 242 played in this tale, but I don't hear additional vocals until near the end. It sounds slightly different with a more symphonic quality. This second release from Anjuna is two scoops of win. Rare and unreleased old school goa trance will always be welcomed as far as I'm concerned. Like the debut compilation I didn't fall in love with all the tracks, but I respected them. And please, remixes that don't sound just like a clone of the original? Where do I sign up? The sound quality is rich like chocolate cake thanks to Mr. Tim Schuldt. That guy is boss. Highly recommended for all your psychedelic goa trance needs. Congratulations Anjuna! Bandcamp Mdk

Her versatile music choices allow her to flow freely between deep house, tech house, techno, hard techno and psytrance. Always maintaining a fine balance, Sara enjoys sharing the tastiest of melodies and progressions in EDM mixed with a full-bass, rough-edge & darker sound that has now shaped her signature style. On the decks her sets are dedicated to the crowd while delivering a full on energetic performance ready to send dancefloors to unthinkable places. > Heersink, Toronto, Canada www.soundcloud.com/Heersink www.facebook.com/Heersink Matt Heersink has been an active DJ and promoter for over a decade in London & Toronto, Canada, with a focus on UK hard techno and acid techno. Matt consistently focuses his efforts on technicmal mixing and his high-energy live performances. Bringing his own unique style of EDM that aspires to fit both festivals and dance floors, Heersink has been performing at venues and events all over Toronto for the past several years including Nuit Blanche and the World Electronic Music Festival. > Spaceship Earth, Kalamazoo, MI @ Rootwire in West Virginia this July! www.soundcloud.com/SpaceshipEarthMusix www.facebook.com/SpaceshipEarthKZoo Bringing the sacred into electronic music scene and futuristic soundscapes of elemental magik and texturized organic soundswaves, Spaceship Earth's productions are one of a kind. Produced by Ashton Robertson, Spaceship Earth features live guitar over-multidimensional, full-spectrum, holographic light-waves crashing with a resonating rhythm, creating a web, a unified field for us all to soak in. Channeling music from higher parallel future timelines and blending them with ancient beats of the past, Ashton concentrates and morphs it all into a imaginarium of what we call the NOW. Grounded in the roots of the Earth, and projecting the stars and nebulas from within, we are hear to wake up the world, and fully realize our already enlightened state. We are love ♥. > YogiMagik, Kalamazoo, MI @ Rootwire in West Virginia this July! www.soundcloud.com/YogiMagik www.facebook.com/YogiMagik Breaking into the world of EDM with a unique message of unconditional love and raised awareness, YogiMagik is an intriguing integration of live instrumentation and electronic dance music produced by Baba McGnarls a.k.a. Brendan Brown. Primarily, he plays live bass guitar over sacred beats, with the intention of eventually adding live violin, guitar, and keys to the mix as well as live vocals. Baba uses the experiences of all of his lives; past and future, channeling the wisdom and love from those experiences and firmly grounding them in the present moment with the intention of unlocking this MAGIK for all. > DJoye & DJourney, Ann Arbor, MI @ Metta Morphosis Festival in Saline, MI (May 30th!) www.soundcloud.com/DJoy-Soule www.synchroblissity.com Carla Samson & Patrick Soule are explorers and navigators through the world of sacred sound, combining the sacred art of vibrational activation through sound and movement. Carla also puts on a Dance Church in Ann Arbor every Sunday to bring community together through dance and music. Their mission on Earth is to bring freedom and liberation to bodies and minds everywhere through setting intention and manifesting dreams into reality. Come dance with them! > Neural Patterns, Detroit, MI www.soundcloud.com/Neural-Patterns www.facebook.com/NeuralPatternsDeco After deciding that some things are just better when combined, like a joint in your hand or boobs in your face, Neural Patterns crawled out from his hole and started combining beats. You can catch his ADD-influenced sets everywhere from polka raves, to stuffed animal funerals to midget weddings/divorce parties. Slipping a handful of gummy bears into his pocket during a set just may get your request played. Just make sure you reach down deep and perhaps a little to the left... > Amoeba, Detroit, MI www.soundcloud.com/DjAmoeba www.facebook.com/DjAmoeba In the summer of 2007, Amoeba was introduced to goa and psytrance and the rest is history. "Electric Mind" was Amoeba a.k.a. Phil Matta's first official release. Although it's referred to as "psytrance", many have come to say that it isn't like anything that they've ever heard. The word "Amoeba" is derived from the Greek, amoibē, which means change. Changing and evolving every day, into a better version of himself and his productions, that's what Amoeba's all about. >> I AM... It's a call to your soul to remember who you are...

You couldn't ask for a bigger kiss of death if you had a make out session under the bleachers with the grim reaper before 6th period history. How did that work out for you technician from Total Recall? Chis Hoy is a very important figure in psytrance as far as I'm concerned. When things were quiet he did it harder and louder. His first album provided an inkling as to where he was taking this music. It's a loud and abrasive look into a futuristic world. Full of mechanical scrapings and deep rumbling bass lines and loads of sci-fi samples. Infrared with its funky rhythmic sway and acid explosion is especially sweet. He hadn't put it all together just yet as it sounds fairly samey, but he was on his way. Timecode Bandcamp Mdk
