  2. Album: Particle Displacement Artist: Various Artists Genre: Progressive Label: Glitchy Tonic Records Compiled by: Splund Size: 220MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - Anfo - Mission Y 02 - Fidjit - Generator Modifier 03 - Reactant - Calm Down (Paracozm Remix) 04 - Krystal Skulls - Microponto 05 - Noize Pirates & Tribal Machine - Robotic Hobbits 06 - Ellis Thomas - Land Of Enchantment 07 - Frakatix - Matière Noire 08 - Phasenverschiebungen - Ego-Death 09 - Creative Juices - Bottom Feeder 10 - Paracozm - High Pressure (SourOne Remix) 11 - The Greys - Intergalactic 12 - Ricco Mazzer - The Portal Sometimes, It is extremely difficult to find really good Progressive. I was a bit concerned after realizing Particle Displacement was a Various Artists album, but after giving it a listen I was immediately surprised. These guys really know how to set the mood! Taking on a darker and psychedelic tone, the folks over at Glitchy Tonic Records take us on a smooth ride through the quantum cosmos. Let's take a look at the deliciously groovy and uniquely stylized tunes in this "particle displacement". Anfo - Mission Y Wooohhh, that intro takes me way back to the club scenes of 90s house, yet it adds a certain, special something that makes it different. Special sounds fill in the gaps, making the slowly building style a bit more interesting. It is a very minimal track, layering each beat on top of each other until my brain orgasms. What an excellent build up! I can definitely tell every detail was worked out to perfection. Those deep gargling robot voices are a nice touch as well. It is hard to resist dancing to this progressive implosion of euphoria. I really enjoy how the beat breakdowns around the two minute marker, adding a snare drum with marvelous taste in quality. This is definitely my favorite part of the song, and everything past it is golden. "The mission is accomplished" in this one. Easily one of my favorites on the album, offering a classic old school vibe. Fidjit - Generator Modifier Taking more inspiration from the psytrance crowd, Fidjit starts this song with a satisfying crunch of atmosphere. A handful of really nice beat lines are brought in, and they progress into a "sound generator" voice sample that can certainly move crowds. A little bit of Stutter Edit, a plugin used for glitching, is brought forth and the track takes a turn into another well done climax. By using a bit more synth leads, Generator Modifier takes on a psychedelic feeling without straying too far from the original crystal clear house / progressive ideals. Reactant - Calm Down (Paracozm Remix) Calm Down sticks to a constant beat centered underneath a blanket of brain shifting textures.. The voice samples and piano rolls are a swell touch to the dark world. Being less of a house track that the previous two, it definitely chases after moods closer to Darkpsy. It is very well layered, and I do enjoy the style, but I am left searching for a bit more euphoria presented in previous tracks. "Do you have any idea why you might be in here" is a great theme, and my favorite portion is after four minutes. It has its moments, but I feel the first few minutes are a bit bland. Everything else is great! Krystal Skulls - Microponto. The collection of sound fronts ontop of monster-like voice clips create a super solid opening. This is a perfect way to introduce the heavy bass around the fifty second marker. A few good ole' popping psytrance synths move on in, greeted by an excellent assortment of percussion. It is moments like these that make me think to myself, "Damn this is good". Krystal Skulls is a great producer with the ability to bring anyone and everyone into his world. Now, that is music! It is easy to lead yourself astray from the intentions of a track when creating it, especially for Progressive. In Microponto, nothing ever gets old and everything is so clean. The four minute marker is also ultra sexy. Grand job. Noize Pirated & Tribal Machine - Robotic Hobbits "What is this crazy rock and roll music???" Ohohoh, I am digging this groove. It's smooth and intense like a giant, heavy waterfall flowing into my ears. Wave after wave, I move my body back and forth to the well mastered orchestra of vibrations. It is quite engulfing. My favorite thing about this track is the simplistic, yet effective synth pattern that riffs beneath the bass in small, healthy doses. Then everything chills out a bit and leaves a fresh taste in my mouth. Ice cold. Ellis Thomas - Land of Enchantment Straight out of Darkpsy culture, a story of demons echoes as a small, effective buildup comes into play. The structure of Land of Enchantment comes to its full fruition around three minutes. There is a noticeable gain in quirkiness after four minutes, however, and the sound isn't all that good. The beat is a little off, while the sub bass distracts me from the progression. The beginning is just fine and I wish it stayed with its original flow. The outro was interesting. Frakatix - Matière Noire I find myself surrounded in a heavy, delicious environment as soon as I hit play. Closer to Full-On, this style reminds me of Xerox and Illumination, yet a bit simpler with added organicness. I love the drum kit very much so. It also has a nice balance in pace, changing the lead at various times to spice things up a bit. I love to hear diversity, and that is important in the most basic of songs. Well mastered, well centered, and well made. Phasenverschiebungen - Ego-Death A nice use of Komplete, commonly used by Solar Fields, can create deep vibes. Phasen expresses his talents with this software clearly, surrounding listeners with long pads and clattering percussion in this ten-minute track. Dancy and clear, he uses a wide variety of instruments to satisfy psychedelic house cravers. The song is more involved than previous tracks, paying attention to multiple layers of sound. This is needed in such a long track, or else it would get boring. I was afraid it would be hard to listen to after a while, but the length is perfect in my opinion. It is even melodic at points, offering a different experience. Nice! (correct me if I'm wrong about the Komplete software) Creative Juices - Bottom Feeder Heavy and dark! I love it. This song matches the album artwork quite well, reminding me of pulsating biospheres. That layered bass brings me back to Astral Projections style, but a lot slower. It starts to get really good when a few of the synths repeat on jussstt the right level. Then it all turns around after 5 minutes. I really enjoyed that move to darkness! I want to play this on the dance floor whenever I get the chance. Quality song. Paracozm - High Pressure (SourOne Remix) It has a slow buildup, but it starts to get interesting around the two minute marker. I don't really like the beginning of the song, but I enjoy how it switches over to a different pace at four minutes. It uses a great combination of bitcrushing and synth textures. I personally feel this is the good part of the song and I really like the wobbly style it takes on. I am sure people can enjoy the simple beginning, but I personally got bored after a while. It is wonderful after that, however, and gets really interesting. I thoroughly enjoy the outro. The Greys - Intergalactic Oh hell yeah. That is a great beatline! The industrial clinking and clanking in the backdrop reminds me of a factory. I can see people walking past each other in a busy train station as I sit on a bench. This takes me on a journey more than any other track on the album. It has a well defined organization of buildups and climaxes. Strongly varied, it begs me to listen for more. The natural sounds used are highly entertaining. There could easily be a music video produced to this song. Rocco Mazzer - The Portal The Portal is theatrical, certainly groovy, and action packed. Using more great voice recordings, Rocco messes around with danceable beats and addicting patterns. A bit funkier than other songs, its mellow and chill out values release progressively until people start dancing. It's simple, but pure, created with a bit lower BPM. Then, at six minutes, it picks up the pace and melodically adjusts its sounds to move heads up and down. It is a great ending to the album! OVERALL: With nice craftsmanship in beat progression, sound after sound is added to form a nice, concrete structure of euphoric buildups and climatic juiciness. Capable of laying down Full-On and Progressive styles, the artists program a castle of gooey bass thumps, addicting synth patterns, and well varied sound fronts. There are only few moments I do not enjoy. Things do get repetitive at times, and It could certainly use more variety, but there are many tracks I can identify as having unique styles. Everything else is smooth and creamy, forming a constant smile on my face. This is recommended for most Progressive / House listeners. For those of you who crave a little mix of darkness in your music, this is for you. 8.5/10 Download here on Ektoplazm (MP3, FLAC, WAV) - Review by FatKidWitaJetPak (Nick Sumbles) - Special Thanks to Ektoplazm for the download bandwidth.

  7. Artist: Flicker Light Title: Shamanic Journey EP Label: Maia Brasil Records Date: March, 2013 1 - Who Use This Drugs (128 BPM) 2 - Glandula Pineal (134 BPM) 3 - Mental Evolution (135 BPM) 4 - Shamanic Journey (133 BPM) If you mix minimal + progressive trance + darkpsy you get this. Well...not much progressive trance. They were not kidding when they said this had heavy basses. Sh*t will knock you over. While I liked the dark atmosphere and the nosebleed inducing bass you gotta give me more if you're going to assault me with your extended track times. The galloping bass and darkpsy noise gets to be monotonous and it just devolves into 39 minutes of the same thumping bass sounds rumbling in the night time. Love the cover though. Evocative of the rainy forests of the Pacific Northwest he calls home, his music wanders through morning, full on, forest, and chilled out sounds. Inspired by adventures he's embarked on in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California and Turkey, Amiranu's songs are at times transcendent and spiritual, at others, dark and twisted (and occasionally strange and silly), and always, his music captures the many faces of the psychedelic experience. 9. Xnorophis - Eyes Album: Eyes Artist: Xnorophis Genre: Tribal, Progressive Size: 185MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - Multi-Coloured Angles 02 - Jungle Paradise 03 - Seeds 04 - Step Inside 05 - Organic Saints 06 - Fabel Keepers 07 - Violet Tower 08 - Ganga Sparkle 09 - Oblong Roads 10 - Torpedo 11 - Cilandra's Test Take a seat inside an intergalactic time machine and get ready to be taken back in time in this percussion driven tribal elemental. Starting with a very minimal tone, the simplistic hand-crafted loops are placed neatly together side by side to form an African-like soundscape. Interesting enough, the composition takes place in Canada, yet nothing in this piece reminds me of Canadian styles. As neat as all this may sound, the minimal style in the beginning is, well, very minimal. The first six songs progress with small percussion and bass loops switching off and on rather than melody, layering synths, or pads carrying layers to create a musical body. The first half of the album should be left out, in my opinion, because each song is more of a backbone to a bigger, broader idea. There is no meat to them, no intricacy, no unexpected visions, and they just are not all that interesting. There is a lot of room left to grow and a lot more expected. Don’t let that fool you from giving this album a try, however. At track 7, Violet Tower gives us that body we have been craving. Vocals are added, pads begin to carry the vision further into broader horizons, and arping melodies similar to the Goa roots of Psytrance are brought forth to put together a final frontier of passion the artist begs to express. A true tribal experience, however, should let me close my eyes and imagine an organic landscape full of sun and open fields. I want to imagine wonderfully painted patterns on the faces of distant cultures, people dancing around large bon fires as the smoke climbs towards the white dotted sky, the moon screaming a blanket of twinkling blue light into the hearts of the earth, and I want it to sound amazing. This album doesn’t do that, but the last few tracks certainly get closer to that accomplishment of pure tribal engulfment. The tracks Violet Tower, Oblong Roads, Ganga Sparkle, and Torpedo are the definitions of this album. They combine the ideas and techniques from every other track and turn a small idea in a better experience. The tippety tappety of the small drums, the Goa bass line, the progressive style, the hint of vocals, and an additional trance melody with more layers of instruments make these tracks great. To the artist, I think if you were to simply take out everything else and leave these in, it would make the album better. Quality over quantity my friend. My advice would be to take a look at these creations and form your future projects based on what you have learned from them. Try to examine different drum lines, instrument programming, and tribal atmospheres to take advantage of our minds and run them through an organic soundscape. Right now, a large portion of the album is generic. Focus on expansiveness, yearning to create a land that only you know into pure sound where we can escape and relax. Keep it up man!! If you want some inspiration, listen to the Steve Roach album “Strata”. The first few tracks are largely tribal ambient, taking your percussion inspirations you love and adding astounding atmospheric explosions of euphoria. I can see you taking a faster pace than this without the ambient style, adding intricacy to your work. 7/10 Download here on Ektoplazm (MP3, FLAC, WAV) - Review by FatKidWitaJetPak (Nick Sumbles) - Special Thank to Ektoplazm for the download bandwidth.

  11. "First Progressive EP @ Woorpz Records [Portugal]" http://www.beatport.com/release/all-about-feelings/1069828 Rogério was born in 1988 in Portugal. He started with piano lessons when he was 8 years old and began his musical career at the age of 14, after two years of friends house parties, when he started to mix different types of music. That phase had a short duration, 3 years later he was to his first psychedelic trance party, where he discovered a completely new and fantastic world. So, he change is musical style and started to play Psychedelic Trance and created Lethal Injection Project. In 2012 Lethal Injection released their album (Shake Before Open) debut on Spliff Music Israel / Plusquam Records label. Also in 2012 Woorpz Records released a compilation (VA - Progressive Time) where the original track was released Mirror's Bright Side (Original Mix). Up! Noize Records released a remix (Elektrik Boy - The Book Of Urizen (Lethal Injection Remix)) on the album: Elektrik Boy - The Book Of Urizen (The Remixes). But that was just an experiment. After improve some production skills Rogério creates a new project. Spectral Vibration is a Psychedelic Progressive Trance project that was created with the mission to exploring positive emotions in the subconscious of everyone.
  12. CeZZers – Expanded Horizons Album: Expanded Horizons Artist: CeZZers Genre: Progressive Size: 68MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - Expanded Mind Ride 02 - Content Of Mind 03 - Expanded Horizons 04 - Free Ride “With the click of a mouse, a brilliant idea can circle the globe in seconds… expanding horizons” A very relaxing, chill atmospheric album that always offers a great intro meant to bring good vibes into any listeners heart. Nice and steady BPMs surround the buildup at every second, always making me feel smooth and happy. The psydub bass influences are really catchy and addicting attitude. There are a few things I would like to see changed, however. The first track seems to stop too soon. It would be nice to hear a bit more, developing that sweet bass line into something totally different while keeping the original icy flow. I really like how the second track offers this different pace, doubling up the bass and changing the vibe while keeping the vision of the album. This may be coming from someone who is use to hearing tracks that are longer than five minutes, but many of we psy fans enjoy a track that keeps a particular catchiness and engulfness for a time longer than five minutes. Still, it adds great replay ability to it, which is a theory commonly practiced by many producers. Keep doing what your doing. Anyway, continuing with the second track, i was very surprised when it jumped into a middle-eastern style… then I read you are from Israel and it made a bit more since haha. I loved it. You kept rocking that sweet double bass against a backbone of neat voices, followed by an awesome popping synth to carry on the idea. Simply done with a few wonderful touches. Well done! Something new is offered each track, and I really enjoy the guitars and more complicated production on the third one. A great addition to anyones Downtempo / Progressive collection. I can definitely see myself playing this on the dance floor to tone down things a bit. Its always good to take a break from faster music. Did you purposely make each track a bit more complicated than the last, adding length in the process? Is that why this album is called “Expanded Horizons,” because it adds more and more as the album progresses? If so, it is something I noticed. It starts out fairly minimal, then goes onto add layer after layer of juicy bass and danceable note plucks. The great thing is, it never gets too overpowering! Keep it up guys, explore the universe of sound and introduce us to it. You are pioneers, searching for land unknown in the infinite universe that is vibrations. From marketing experiences, I recommend using album art that is a bit more unique. We all have seen fields of green with tiny paths on it. There is a lot of music on here, and psychologically we automatically are looking either for genre names or, more commonly, really awesome looking album art. If you notice, some of the highest downloaded albums on here have cool album art. Judging the book by the cover is one thing, but album art should not only look cool but express your intentions and visions. Try to find someone who can hand draw the best thought that comes to mind when listening to this album. For me, it would be a monk sitting on top of a very large mountain while staring into the eyes of a caterpillar. Something like that. Just a littler offer of feedback. Great album guys. 9/10 Download here on Ektoplazm (MP3, FLAC, WAV) - Review by FatKidWitaJetPak (Nick Sumbles) - Special Thank to Ektoplazm for the download bandwidth.

Buy on CD here: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/fup/fup1cd002.html **Soon also out as digital download!** CIMI's debut album 'White World Bridger' is the result of two hard-working years trying to find the right balance between innovative and classic, deep, bouncy progressive trance. Behind the project is Marcello, also known as M-Theory (Alchemy Records). Up to today Marcello's two projects have contributed to the psytrance scene with more than 60 releases and 2 albums with some of the most recognized labels including Alchemy, Furthur Progressions, Neurobiotic, Plusquam, Free-Spirit, Digital Nature, Synergetic, Solar-Tech, Antu, Blacklite, Headstick and many more. The album title is a contribution by maestro Gaudi (Six Degrees Records). Marcello has had the honour to remix one of his tracks as M-Theory. It is during their studio sessions that Gaudi made the link between Marcello's new project name and its meaning. Cimi is a sign in the Mayan Calendar which is loosely translated in English as 'white world bridger'. Each track was crafted to reflect Marcello's taste for progressive trance, from less melodic to more layered sounds on a backdrop of psychedelic landscapes. A very versatile producer, the album doesn't fail to show Marcello's ability in covering a wide spectrum of genres from full-on psytrance to typical progressive. The quality of sound is at the forefront of his production, hence the choice of talented sound engineer Ido Ophir (aka Domestic) with regards to album mastering. The result is delightful to the ear and will take the listener through a multi-coloured journey of high quality tunes. Tracklist 1. Kind of Sirius 2. The Flying Scotsman feat. Dj Hamish 3. 16. Artist: Osher Title: Get The Yeyo Label: Blue Tunes Records Date: March, 2013 1. Get The Yeyo 2. Disco Dreams There wasn't a whole lot to enjoy about this brief 2 track EP. It's typical Blue Tunes style with vocal manipulation masquerading as percussion along with a change in time signature. Heard it all before. Didn't like it then, and yadda yadda yadda. Loved your album Twilight, but this isn't on par with that release. You need to lay off the yayo. Beatport Mdk

This was a nice surprise. Think of it as darkpsy atmosphere with minimal structures and some techno sensibilities. All the tracks are moody with a simplistic kick and loaded with effects. The sounds of alien creatures can be heard constantly with lots of bubbling and electronic wheezes. Sometimes it can get very lush and descriptive and sometimes it can go on way too long. I like effects tumbling over the kick, but when there is not a lot else it can get tiring to listen to. My favorite was Techno Trousers by Brujo's Bowl. Get it free at Ektoplazm Mdk
