  1. Artist: Various Title: Beach Atmosphere Vol. 2 Label: Iono Music Date: August, 2013 1. Natural Culture OPPOSITE8 2. Life on earth SUNTREE 3. New world order (Egorythmia rmx) RITMO, NOK 4. Drums have been talking SONIC ENTITY 5. One Life (Zyce rmx) UNSEEN DIMENSIONS 6. Massive Attack SPACE HYPNOSE, STATIC MOVEMENT 7. Indaco SHYISMA 8. Sunset Blues AVSHI 9. Burn Out ROGER RABBIT As I'm scraping the ice off my car after the two feet of snow fell and my hands are slowly going numb, a beach sounds really f*cking good about now. Iono delivers part two in this series aimed at those who could use a little warmth and sunshine. It's chock full of the melodic progressive vastness that the label releases on a continuous basis. Now, this might be the frostbite talking, but...meh. I mean the progressive trance is good with plenty of delicious melodies and warm breaks. Iono does this better than anyone and that just might be the problem. No chances are taken here. It's a safe play doing things they've done for years. Changes in the time signature, echoing washes, and samples designed to make you think. All been done before by this label on many albums. I think it's time to think outside the box. Time to shake the progressive world up a bit. It's not bad, but for me it's beginning to get a little stale. Beatspace Psyshop Mdk
  2. Artist: E-Clip Title: Into The Void Label: Iono Music Date: June, 2014 1. E-Clip Vs. Zen Mechanics - Flashback 2. Human Instincts 3. Endless Symphony 4. E-Clip Vs. Future Frequency - Little Universe 5. E-Clip Vs. Zyce - Flying Objects 6. Cosmic Religon 7. Salvia Divinorum (Waio 30x Remix) 8. E-Clip Vs. Symbolic - Live Your Life 9. E-Clip Vs. Egorythmia - Star Stuff Me when I listened to his first album Shuma: And now me when I'm digging into his latest album. Yep. Needs more dick in a box. Look it's hard to catch lightning in a bottle. His debut was so epic and detailed that truthfully there was only one way to go. To this day it is still one of the greatest progressive trance albums as far as I'm concerned. And please don't take my lack of euphoria to mean this isn't worth your time because on its face this is a good album in the "psygressive" vein. There are some tracks here that will take you into that void and you will lose yourself. Problem is it has been done before and done better by he himself. The song structure feels too linear without all the dynamics of Shuma. Think of it this way...when you first tried weed you pondered the universe and came up with brilliant solutions to problems that the world inexcusably seemed to ignore. Eventually though you get tired of climbing out of mom's basement at 2:30 after a vigorous Call of Duty session and realize that your blow-up girlfriend can't take the punishment any longer and rather than leave you she just decided to self-deflate. 3. Artist: E-Clip Title: Biointegrated Design Label: Iono Music Date: April, 2017 1. E-clip & Zen Mechanics - Sundowning 2. E-Clip & Mickey Noise - The One 3. Chemical Bond 4. E-clip & Subliminal Codes - Apex 5. E-clip & Avalon - Isotonic Tuning 6. Radio Entelechy 7. Semifluid Substances 8. Occult Lore 9. Welkin And the award for the most disappointing follow up album goes to...E-clip! "First and foremost I'd like to thank God for without whom nothing is possible. I'd like to thank my family. Of course I'd be remiss if I didn't thank all the expensive software that I used to pump out generic progressive trance tracks. They said we couldn't do it, but I believed! I'd like to thank the label Iono for getting fooled and believing in me after my successful debut album. I realize this is a step backwards with tracks that sound like all other progressive music, but sometimes you have to put in minimal effort and throw creativity out the window if you want to make a mediocre album." I'm exaggerating of course, but really this is not a positive step for this artist. The tracks themselves are decent, but they sound like everyone else. When you set the bar high with a superb debut and compilation tracks, not reaching it has to be disappointment. The lush details and atmosphere of his debut Shuma are noticeably absent as he seemed to move in a more minimal direction. Melodies are not as apparent in a series of tracks that fail to capture the imagination. I would blame it on excessive collaborations, but one, that's never stopped him before, and two, even if that was so most of the tracks are just his. Let me be clear it's not a bad album, but he has shown that he has produced much better stuff than this. Iono Bandcamp Digital Psyshop Beatspace
  4. Artist: Various Title: Freak the Tune Label: Blue Tunes Recordings Date: June, 2008 1. Midimal - Secrets of Beauty 2. Dualnok - Wave Out 3. Earsugar - Womanizer (Quantize Remix) 4. Martin - Intoxicated 5. Infinity & Meander - Rollercoaster 6. Liquid Soul - 6.15 am (Jay Selway Remix) 7. Progenitor - Visions 8. Manuel Duego - Deception (Symphonix Remix) 9. Dream Donor - Dancing Knobs "People think they came here to take over the planet." This German progressive trance label has been around for a very long time releasing a lot of great music. I tend to like the progressive trance that paints a lush picture with tons of layers rather than the more minimal, bare boned approach. With their 19th CD this was an enjoyable, smooth progressive ride. Most of the songs had layers to get lost in as well as being head nodding bounce worthy. This is almost a decade old, but it holds up surprisingly well. They didn't reinvent the wheel (to be honest I really don't know what that would look like at this point), but if you're in the mood for some groovy tunes that put a smile on your face, this will do nicely. 5. Artist: Akshan Title: Versions Inedites Ep Label: Altar Records Date: May, 2013 1. The Rise Of Atlantis (Extended Live Mix) 2. Adagio For The Braves (Extended Live Mix) 3. Journey To Persia (Extended Mix) 4. Gates Of Heaven (Extended Live Mix) 5. Shadows And Lights (Extended Mix) Vincent Grenier is a French artist who has crafted some of the most gorgeous downtempo and progressive trance I've ever heard. His style is symphonic and wide open like the skies of Montana. No space is left untouched as his music reaches deep and lush soundscapes. These five tracks for an Ep (almost an hour of music) are versions that were unreleased from his two albums. One track Journey to Persia I've never heard before. The music is mellow, lengthy, melancholy and dream inducing characterized by long intros and outros. It's truly storytelling at its finest. It's been a while since his last album and I sure hope he will have more music soon. Altar Records Bandcamp (24 bits)
  6. Hey guyz! I'm here again to spread with you this remix i've made using an awesme orchestral track found in youtube. I hope you enjoy ! ps: I'm not so sure but I think that soundcloud is shitting on my kick some times https://soundcloud.com/realbee/ashraf-el-ziftawi-mountain-of-gods-realbee-remix-2 and this is the original track:

  8. Artist: Ovnimoon Title: Trancemutation of the Mind Label: Ovnimoon Records Date: July, 2013 1. A necessary tool 2. Quiet my mind 3. Hooponopono - Ovnimoon with Lupin & Edit Ballai 4. Superlight in the darkness - Ovnimoon with Via Axis 5. Transmutation - Ovnimoon with Pragmatix, E-Mantra and Nova Fractal 6. Sat Nam for me, Sat Nam for you 7. La Danza Espiritual - Ovnimoon with Spirit Architect 8. Learning 9. Power of positive mind - Ovnimoon with Lyctum I've got wood! What did you think I meant? Yeah I'm rebuilding the front porch so I had to hit the big box hardware store. And by rebuilding I mean watching my friend do it as I carry the tools and nails. Then I gotta clean up. But I can tell you this... I think I'm in love. You go through life listening to music hoping you'll meet that special album, that group of tracks that has melodies that go on for miles and more than enough groove in the trunk. And when she says I love you back (Hooponopono), well then, you know you've found the one. Ovnimoon is Hector Stuardo and he runs the Ovnimoon label which has given so much. I mean c'mon, they seem to throw a record out there like every three days. But we forget that he's also an accomplished artist who walks that fine line between psytrance and progressive. Walks it? He backflips across that motherf*cker. Floating and drifting melodies, thumping beats, thick layers of lush atmosphere, and a pair of goa tracks that he shoves right in your face. Yeah, get some! But it's not just two tracks, the goa imprint is all over this. If goa was mud he just tracked it all over you f*cking living room. This is how you do psytrance. Hell this is how you mix goa, psy and progressive to make a brilliant album. It is so utterly rich and detailed you can throw out the old playbook because this is next level. The old rules and cliches no longer apply. This is Tales of Heads awesome and easily one of the best releases of the year 2013. Cue mic drop cause this is a game changer. Psyshop Mdk
  9. Artist: Various Title: Ascending Label: Melusine Records Date: December, 2016 1. Lauge - For Evigt Og Altid 2. Logical Elements - Flower Nebula (Original Mix) 3. Olexa - Miss Spring 4. Ancient Core - Caracatitza Cuantica din Oceanul Mecanic 5. E-Mantra - Ascending (Live Version) 6. Lifebloom - Rest In Self 7. Reasonandu - Immerse 8. Metamorphosis & The Adaptive - The Long Way Home 9. Cabeiri - Uranus' Seed 10. E-Mantra - Daydream (Dense Mix) 11. Saranankara - Awakening 12. Jaraluca - Spiritual Transformation 13. Ascent & Argus - One Day In India This digital release (24 bits) is from the label started by E-mantra and Reasonandu. It's a charity release with all the profits going towards underprivileged and abandoned children in Constanta. I won't pretend to know where that is, but doing good is universal. This is a long release at over 100 minutes and it contains quite the variety of music. A few mentions...All of the tracks have a good amount of depth in them and I didn't find one that was subpar. I'm not one for beatless ambient unless it's time for night night, but you get a couple of tracks of that here. Flower Nebula is a gentle and silky smooth progressive track that screams sunshine and the promise of a hopeful future. E-mantra has a couple of really good tracks here and they flow in the same vein as his downtempo releases. The music varies from utterly relaxing to strong, beat oriented downtempo with tribal touches. For example a track like Uranus' Seed has all of the above. While Awakening wasn't anything special, the middle break hit me just right. Shame it was so short. The fastest track belongs to Jaraluca and it is unapologeticaly goa. Mid tempo swagger stuff. And lastly if you like female Indian vocals than the closing track is your holy grail set amongst a head nodding beat. All in all a very good quality release and for a good cause. Recommended! 10. Artist: Unusual Cosmic Process Title: Mental Atmosphere Label: Gliese 581c Date: May, 2012 01 - Mental Atmosphere (136 BPM) 02 - Paranoic Minds (138 BPM) 03 - Unexplaned Process (138 BPM) 04 - Mystical Forms Of Life (136 BPM) 05 - The Message (135 BPM) 06 - So Far From Earth (138 BPM) 07 - Pulsating Galaxies (142 BPM) 08 - Sleepwalker (142 BPM) 09 - Immersion (142 BPM) "Da, make psytrance great again!" Ukranian Armen Akopov is back with another free release from Ektoplazm. The last one I reviewed (Weightlessness) had some really good floating ambient and even a stellar downtempo goa trance track Place On Earth. This time he turns to the progressive arena and brings the same amount of detail with long tracks and good sample work. Tracks like Unexplained Process evolve slowly with some sweet goa touches. With all the music he adds effects and touches which really go a long way into creating and maintaining the atmosphere. The one track that didn't wow me was So Far From Earth as it was the only one that seemed to go on too long without any support. Science fiction samples are a major part of what he does and he makes it easy to be a passenger on his space craft. I don't know if this would work on the dance floor, but it is great for home listening. Free at Ektoplazm
  11. Artist: PsySutra Title: Nebulla Cebulla EP Label: Neogoa Records Date: December, 2016 01 - PsySutra - Infinnitus Anniversarius 02 - PsySutra - Semper Fi 03 - Artha - Insidelamp (PsySutra Remix) 04 - PsySutra - Air Trance Corporation (Red Sun Rising Remix) PsySutra is Łukasz Wiącek and with this 4 track digital EP he appears to be flexing his creative muscles. Like you I was expecting music in the vein of his recent release Gamma Phoenicis, but this is most certainly not that. Neogoa's final release for 2016 is quite interesting and at least for me wholly unexpected. For starters the cover looks like half an onion floating through space. Is it just me? Not my favorite work by Ivan, but if the music is good he could put a Campbell's soup can up there and I wouldn't care. And it is. Infinnitus Anniversarius- Pretty good psychedelic opener. The second half really kicks the door in. Semper Fi- is almost 11 and a half minutes of aggressive goa trance. Throaty 303s growl fiercely and he adds some Posford-esque chopped vocals and it just pounds all the way through. Insidelamp (PsySutra Remix)- This was one of the Artha tracks I really liked and Lukasz went and turned it into a smooth downtempo track. The lead flutters overhead while down below the slow dub beat plods on. Sparkle fresh. Then the breakbeat picks up the pace for a bit before settling in for the final chill. Air Trance Corporation (Red Sun Rising Remix) has floating, ethereal pads as the machine gun bass line marches in a progressive tempo. Can get lost in this one. While it's not my favorite, it's not a bad ep at all and shows the artist stretching his talent to other areas while still showing he can cause some goa earthquakes. Ektoplazm
  12. Artist: E-Mantra Title: Raining Lights Label: Altar Records Date: December, 2015 Part I 1. Starlights 2. I Shall Not Care 3. Veiled Clouds 4. Kaleidoscope Clouds (Main Sequence Star Remix) Part II 5. Gethsemane 6. The Darkest Hours 7. Resurrection 8. Fiat Lux For me this gif sums up the latest album by our dear Romanian friend Mr. Carpus. First off let's say that he has been one of the greatest producers of goa trance in the modern era. His three goa albums not to mention the stuff he did as Eleusyn are some of the most drifting and beautiful goa trance that you will find. This is his fifth foray into the downtempo/progressive arena and I'm of two minds. One, it's good music just like his previous efforts with this type of music. He gets all soundtracky with The Darkest Hour and that is easily my favorite. And that cow sure seems to dig it. But... I think our cup runneth over. How many times is he going to milk this cow with extremely similar music? I'll liken this to Cybernetika's recent output. Yeah his drum n bass sci-fi storytelling is awesome, but he's beating that horse to death. If he releases another one in that vein I might go to the pet store, buy a cat, and then drive home so I can throw it out the window. *Mr. Kelly Peta on line one" "Edith we talked about this. Say it." *sigh* "Mr. Fox line one." "That's better. Line one you say?" Look, I can take or leave the progressive tempo stuff and the downbeat is good, but it sounds similar to a lot of his output. While pleasing to the ear there wasn't anything that made this album a must have and to be honest I think it was the weakest in his catalog. I mean, I still bought it because I'm a completionist and I have problems, but normal folk may come away from this disappointed. Altar Bandcamp Psyshop
  13. Artist: Various Title: Tranceformers Label: Yellow Sunshine Explosion Date: June, 2006 1. Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxygene (Andromeda Remix) 2. Ibojima - Situations 3. Chomosome Vs. Ibojima - Accelerating Into Oblivion 4. S>range - Another Theory (Chromosome Remix) 5. Zekazy - Worker or Whacko 6. Chomosome Vs. Endorian - Midnight Express 7. Endorian - The Only Braincell Left 8. Deedrah - Take It or Leave It 9. Galactika Vs. Alexander Ligowski - Escape From Heaven 10. Chomosome - Genetic Superstar Should I buy this? Hmm...there you go. When the toaster told you what to do did you make the transforming sound? Yeah ya did. I wish this would transform into a better compilation. Optimus Prime should've requested a better soundtrack than these full-on cliches. Seriously they need to get those bass lines under control before someone gets hurt. Two tracks in and I was already firing up the candy crush. I mean come on...Oxygene is already pretty cheesy. It's like you caught the dog peeing on the carpet and just said f*ck it and then pissed on the recliner. There is a time and a place for full-on that has yet to be determined, but I'm pretty sure it's not when we're awake. Track 8 is like the worst superhero movie ever made. Galactika Vs...my mother-in law's cousin's accountant. That was the artist name you chose? One thing I do know...if music was the power the Autobots needed for battle (energon) than I hope you enjoy Decepticon enslavement.
  14. Artist: Zyce Title: Fifth Dimension Label: TesseracT Studios Date: June, 2016 1. Zyce with Morten Granau - Shiva 2. Imagine 3. Star Dust 4. Zyce with Shake - Gravity 5. Zyce with Liquid Soul & Solar Kid - The Protocol 6. Face The Fear 7. Zyce with Sub6 - Witchcraft 8. Zyce with Talpa - Here Comes The Sun 9. Zyce with Gaudium - Son of Night 10. The Ritual 11. Sweet Ocean What'cha lookin' for? Bathroom? Girls or boys? Good news fruitcake you can use either! This is Target! Man there are a f*ckton of releases out there. No way anybody can digest them all. Especially in the progressive trance genre so it's easy to see how some can get lost in the morass. Zyce is Nikola Kozic from Serbia and he's been around a long time. Pretty much a staple for progressive trance. Recently his album was the highest selling on Psyshop so I decided to see what the buzz was about. The fact that it was released by TesseracT was an added bonus as I've usually had good luck with them. As per usual these days the music straddles the psy/progressive line and he gets a little help from his friends on a lot of the tracks. I'm not going to insult your intelligence and tell you it's music you haven't heard before. Cause it's not. But there is a warmth and a bouncy whimsy to it. Some tracks had an orchestral quality (Shiva) and the breaks highlighted the depth found therein. It's very soothing with nary a jarring or abrasive moment while maintaining a futuristic feel. He did turn up the heat with Witchcraft, the aggressive collaboration with Sub6 that was my favorite. That said it's not a very challenging album and has a lot of been there done that tropes. Done well, but done nonetheless. I enjoyed it, but I don't see myself frequently reaching for it. Good, but not great. Psyshop Beatspace
  15. Artist: Funky Dragon Title: Massive Label: Iono Music Date: 2007 1. Waiting For Something 2. Day After 3. Journey 4. Sunny Day 5. Massive 6. Who's There 7. Last Human 8. Yellow Summer 9. Wake Up I was Waiting For Something. Anything. Then came the Day After and the day after that and that something never arrived. To say it was an uneventful Journey barely scratches the surface. As I stared out my window at the Sun Day passing me by I realized I had made a Massive mistake. Time seemed to creep by with only mild and sometimes annoying stimulation. "Who's There?" I asked, knowing full well that like Peter I was probably the Last Human around with no one to hear my plea. Yellow Summer is the color of the day fading into night and also the feeling that my time was stolen from me. If I could float above myself I would scream and plead with my physical form to Wake Up and not make the mistake of letting the very Unfunky Dragon steal precious minutes. This is a CD of background noise where every track melts into the next with nary a distinguishing characteristic. This isn't progressive. It's minimal masquerading as progressive. Psyshop Beatspace
  16. Artist: Talpa Title: La La La EP Label: TesseracT Studio Date: October, 2014 1. Dark Days 2. La La La Goran was pretty busy in 2014 with 5 released EPs which continued his mixing of Talpa and Riddler styles. Eerie melodies, groovy beats, haunting piano...all staples of his music. I suppose he could've combined all the EP's into an album, but who am I to tell him what to do. Have you seen him on Facebook? He scares me. But his music continues to move me. The only constant is the change the tracks undergo. Some nice stuff. Beatport

  18. Artist: Blue Planet Corporation Title: Overbloody Flood 2015 EP Label: Atmotech Recordings Date: May, 2015 1. Overbloody Flood (2015 Edit) 2. Overbloody Flood (Atmos Remix) Blue Planet Corporation is now a solo project of Gabriel Masurel and if you ask anyone in the know, one of the most important acts in the goa psytrance scene from the good old days. He released one album Blue Planet in 1999 when goa was practically on the way out and then pretty much dropped the mic and said "I'm out. Deal with it." Crystal. I'm out. Seems pretty f*cking cocky until you listen to that album. Talk about taking the express train to greatness. That album is a bonafide classic of TRANCE no matter what label you try to saddle it with. Now I'll be honest with you I haven't been keeping up with what he's been doing. I've got kids and those delicious pork chops for dinner ain't gonna make themselves. And let's face it the track record of the greats from the glory days coming back really isn't that good. But something told me to give this a listen. And I'm glad I did. First of all I will tell you that I didn't really care for the original track. Just didn't move me and he has plenty others that are superior. So from where I'm standing it was ripe for a remix. He slows it down to progressive tempo and increases the length. Before you begin your eye roll somehow he packs it with details and it sounds even more goa than the original. Clearly some black magic is afoot! Throw in the emotional strings and bouncy beat and this is a jam packed party in a track. Hippies rejoice! "I can't feel my face when I'm with you!" The Atmos Remix is another epic progressive arrow in the quiver. Less goa, but more vast, open space. It drifts amidst the clouds and is a great track, but I prefer the previous. If you're an Atmos fan then perhaps you have a different opinion. Bottom line I love where BPC is heading if this is any indication. Now just one more thing...can you please work something out where we the goa loving public can get a Blue Planet reissue? I already have a mortgage, student loans, and car payments so fishing in the Discogs pool would just sink me deeper into debt. Just a small request. Great ep and highly recommended. Get it here!

  22. Artist: Alchemix Title: It's A Story Label: Ovnimoon Records Date: August, 2013 1. Its a story 2. Time is a direction 3. Upstream (Alchemix rmx) - Protonica 4. Red Forest 5. For a moment 6. What is reality (Live Edit) 7. Rising 8. Freaky Alien 9. The Visions Begin (Predators rmx) 10. Omnipresent "Time is a direction, not a dimension." I got this for one reason and one reason only. The consistent quality emanating from this label. Alchemix is Fotis Karoukis and I haven't heard much of his music, but put an attractive cover with a strong label and good samples and there wasn't much I could do. It's an album that surfs the psy gressive wave much like Ovnimoon himself. Drifting melodies come in layers complimented with nice electronic effects. Sounding soft and delicate would be a good way to describe this. It never feels empty, like he just going through the motions. You can tell he put his time in to carve out some nice depth. For a Moment is a standout, putting all the elements together for a beautiful track. Unfortunately the album begins well, but descends into a less complex more generic sound (Freaky Alien). Even though the Predators remix of the Visions was full-on the atmosphere was delicious. A good album, but it lacks that consistency and special something that would put it in the upper echelon of progressive trance. Worth the time of melodic progressive lovers however. 23. Artist: Various Title: Cosmik Chill Orange Label: Electrik Dream Records Date: June, 2007 1. Xerxes feat. Aleah - Inhale 2. Scann-Tec - Hope 3. Flooting Grooves - Immersion 4. Kliment - Fairdreamers 5. Moravec - Kiwimango 6. Aes Dana - Liquid Hertz 7. Chilled C'Quence & Taj Mahal - Power of Plants 8. Luna Spice - Schamanic (Long Version) "Most civilized people are out of touch with reality." I'll stop the world and melt with you... This is the middle child in the Cosmik Chill series, but you won't find any Jan Brady angst here. This is what all middle children should aspire to be. And it didn't even take a football to the nose. Like the sandman above the smooth downtempo sounds will melt you away. A good mixture of established artists and newcomers the layers are plenty where each track immerses the listener in an intense atmospheric cloud. The beats range from slow to breakbeat with dubby bass riding shotgun. There were quite a few of the midtempo tracks which I guess you could call progressive. Very good stuff! The last track is a long one and to be honest I could've done without it. Waaaay too much talking. Long version? That's an understatement.
  24. Artist: E-Mantra Title: Echoes From the Void Label: Altar Records Date: November, 2014 1. Echoes From the Void 2. Everything Ends 3. Snow Began To Fall 4. E-Mantra & Reasonandu - Words You Said 5. Stillness of Dawn 6. Sundial Aeon - Drifting Radio Frequencies (E-Mantra Remix) 7. Moon Drifter 8. Night Hex - Invocation 9. Shivers Art. You painted a f*cking soup can. Good for you. I can go to Food Lion and see six pallets of those. That's just my 2 cents. Drugs are bad, okay? Still think that last tab of acid was a good idea? But at least your shoes are pink so...awareness and sh*t. Ho-lee-sh*t. You just painted a picture of your dirty feet. How many millions did that sell for? These are just a few examples of why you can't judge what is art and what isn't. Eye of the beholder. Even though the above are just some random examples and seem ridiculous to me I am not the end all and be all of opinions. Like you I have one and it's no more or less accurate than yours. Well, maybe yours (points to guy with the dirty feet.) Take a shower man this ain't Woodstock. Art is subjective. And artists regardless of medium tend to be some odd f*ckers. Might be what sets them apart from the rest of the normals. I imagine Emmanuel is no different. Don't know him, but what I do know is that in his chosen medium he can do no wrong. Having already conquered goa he has almost done the same to psychill. Echoes From the Void is his fourth album in the downtempo genre and surprise surprise he explores new territory. The first half of the album is an ambient experience exploring mystical soundscapes. Ideal for waking up early and catching the rising sun from atop some lofty snow capped peak. Which is what I would've done if I didn't have kids. Floating voices soar and echo above warm pads as he slowly brings you along. Measured break beats keep the tempo whilst hypnotic melodies lull you into a dream state. Words You Said is the first surprise being more uplifting than his usual moody downtempo style. The second half of the album is progressive trance with a few showcasing the goa style we have come to expect from this artist. His Nighthex alias in particular produced a very enjoyable track. E-mantra is goa trance first and foremost, but he has also proven himself in the downtempo and ambient genre. With this album he explores the progressive arena with fine results. He's an artist that I hope continues to stretch his creative imagination as we the listeners will all be the better for it. Highly recommended to add to your E-mantra collection. Altar Bandcamp Mdk
  25. Artist: Various Title: Greenosophy Label: Ultimae Records Date: February, 2012 1. Initial - MNNSK AND MIZOO FEAT ANA GOLDIN 2. Tear-blind eyes - Rildrim 3. Minimum - Liquid Stranger 4. Emerge - Sesen 5. Idea Spiral (Ozora Festival 2011 live edit) - Cell 6. Nubian Sandstone - Ajja 7. Subzero - Tripswitch 8. Cobalt 2.0 - Solar Fields 9. Flying Dots - Miktek 10. Folding Pattern - James Murray 11. Brokenm dream of little snail - Cygna Ultimae is the name in chill out or psybient music that creates the perfect soundtrack for any mood. Each release seems to shine with quality and this is no exception. Compiled by Mizoo this mixed journey mirrors the mood of the cover. The opener is an extended intro really, but Tear Blind Eyes burrows deep into the eerie with echoing tones. Listening to this while atop a mountain staring down into the thick green forest reminds me of all that's hidden from view. Long ambient with obvious comparisons to Soil Festivities by Vangelis. Minimum travels in the same gloomy vein but now with a steady cadence until even that drops out. The sounds of water breathe life into the track. Emerge has a slow lamenting opening rife with regret as it slides into progressive territory. Lush layers ensure that it doesn't lose any of its storytelling ability Idea Spiral by Cell is a slow motion flyby of the awesome splendor of the Himalayan mountains. It's one of those tracks that rides the same melody for its entire length even with the tempo increase. The view is breathtaking. Nubian Sandstone is comprised of delicate alien textures coupled with a smooth jazzy groove. The sounds echoing in my headphones make me smile as I feel if I were to touch them they would dissipate like vapor. Half the length of the previous track, but twice the emotion. Subzero awakens like a dazzling dawn with the most driving beat yet. A snapshot into a new age full of wonder and promise; as if a breath of energy restored the husk of a depleted city. But lest you believe this to be a utopia Solar Fields reminds the listener dark days lie ahead. Cobalt 2.0 is in the ambient trance style with wailing synth spirits and gentle pads. Leads run softly beside an imposing mood. Flying Dots slows things down again with head nodding percussion as the movement retreats to the underground. Heavy casualties were suffered and it's time for the resistance to lick its wounds. Better to live to fight another day. Folding Pattern is drone style ambient with a rhythmic clicking that while atmospheric doesn't hold the depth and gravitas found in the other tracks. Think of it as a long interlude. Broken Dream of a Little Snail could be the trailer for the upcoming Disney movie Turbo, but I doubt it. With heavenly voices it seems too lofty for a snail, but I don't know any snails so...Or maybe that's the point. If you're gonna dream...dream big. Melancholy acoustic guitars and violins make this an evolving and lush closer. Good job Ultimae you've once again created something that is ideal for daydreaming. Highly recommended.
