  1. Thanks to an AWESOME user here who is selling his massive collection of 500+ psytrance albums, I am now the happy owner of many legendary titles such as Derango - Tumult, Penta - Horn Please, and OOOD - Free Range. Some of them are even in slim special edition digipaks! He gave me an awesome deal and I think everyone here should go check out his thread right meow. I will slowly but surely be reviewing many of these albums soon!!! I am so excited, these are my first phyiscal copies.
  2. A shift-of-consciousness inducing journey, progressing from sublime grooves to full on psychedelic, incorporating deep melodic turns and powerful, energizing feelings; all with twist of goa. Enjoy! 3. Artist: Bell Size Park Title: Shroom Hunt Label: Timewarp Records Date: July, 2013 1. The Shroom Hunt 2. Interceptor 2013 3. Shambala 4. Goa Child (Into The Matrix mix) Bell Size Park used to be a trio that released an album called the Truth is There back in 96. I've never heard it so I can't comment on it. But these days it's a one man outfit. In 2011 he released Escape From Planet X EP on Dimensional Records which was psytrance and it didn't thrill me. Now here he is with his latest on ridiculously prolific Timewarp Records and this one I like. Most of it is a psy/techno hybrid with some goa elements. Evolving and constantly changing he shows his skill and it's pretty good. It sounds cold and very metallic with the exception of the title track. The Shroom Hunt is a page right out of the old school playbook with a very active and nimble 303. Easily my favorite of the EP. Nice work. Beatport Juno Download Mdk
  4. hey psygang! my debut solo ep "All Knowing Universe" is available now,,,thanks everyone for the awesome support behind No Qualms...we are truly humbled and only more inspired to do much much more with No Qualms. respect!! http://www.beatport.com/release/all-knowing-universe/1140553 1. All Knowing Universe (10.42) 2. Your Eyes Unpeel (10.35) 3. Got Anything deeper (8.39) 4. Tribe, Buzz, Staunch (7.00) 5. Way More Fun (vs Waltone) (8.54)
  5. Artist: Trold Title: Time For Solution Label: Vertigo Records Date: May, 2013 1. In The Hand Of The Shaman 2. Vacuum 3. Adventure 4. 10 000 000 X 14 5. Order In Chaos 6. Miracle 7. We Are The Devine 8. Alright What the hell is this? No seriously, what the hell is this? Forest trolls and psychedelic vikings deliver their 3rd album and I'm shaking my head. Where's the motherf*cking forest? This is like going deep into the Swedish wilderness and finding a McDonalds next to a Wal-Mart. Where is the dark atmosphere? The pads soaked in dread and leads creeping from behind ancient oaks? It's not bad psytrance so let's get that out of the way right now. But when you set the bar so high with Time of Illusion certain expectations are had. That album was frightful yet intelligent. Layers of mystery wrapped up and tailor made for getting hopelessly lost in the woods. This? All the rough edges and less accessible aspects of this project were sanitized for a more family friendly clientele. F*cking Vegas without the gangsters. I know I'm not an authority on forest music, but I don't need it dumbed down for me. So enough telling you what it ain't. What is it? Crystal clear psytrance where you can hear every note and every staccato stab of the bass. I know Colin mastered this, but there are instances where this resembles and OOOD album. It's drug samples, long tracks, and rhythms you can get down to. But all the energy and evil creatures have left the building only to be replaced by softer Disney melodies. Order of Chaos recaptures past glories with its acidic serpents tongue, but it's still too clean. Too obvious. Miracle is a good twilight track that might fit on a Timecode or Nexus Media compilation. The last track sounds just like something OOOD would make. Sorry Colin I'm not picking on you, I'm just sayin'. And that's my point. Where the last album had a forest maze with a nutcase Jack Nicholson in pursuit, here there are baby changing stations and stroller rentals every 100 feet. This must be what hardcore Metallica fans felt like when Enter Sandman came out. I don't like my forest rated PG, but that is what has happened I'm afraid. Funny thing is even though it may sound as if I didn't like it, I enjoyed it. It's twilight and some full-on with rounded edges, but it is outstandingly produced. So if you go into this not knowing what Trold has done in the past then this will have some appeal. But having heard and loved their last album this can only be seen as a disappointment. Time for another solution. Psyshop Beatspace Goastore Mdk
  6. Artist: Vibe Tribe Title: Wise Cracks Label: Utopia Records Date: April, 2006 1. Wise Cracks 2. Dream Catcher 3. Carousel 4. Three Quarters 5. Lfobia 6. The Brain.B.Q 7. Bad Habbits 8. Pulse 9. Memories 10. The Sperminator (Vibe Tribe rmx) I remember liking this CD. I do. I also remember getting up early on Saturday to watch cartoons. But I grew up and decided I'd rather sleep in than see what the Smurfs were up to. And I grew out of this. It is the most melodic and over the top stuff I can recall hearing. If it came out today it would no doubt be blasted for being ridiculously cheesy. Not that Vibe Tribe were known for anything else. That said their brand of full on was high paced and appealing. Say what you will their music was constantly changing so at least it was different phrases of melodic cheese. The part in Carousel near the end where the synth sounds like it's laughing is beyond silly. Yet the acid that preceded it was great. I treat Vibe Tribe the same way I treat Dynamic, Perplex, and Alien Project. Disposable projects that first got me interested in this genre of music. A stepping stone if you will. So in that respect I owe them a debt of thanks. But uh, no...I can't listen to this album straight through without a note from my doctor. Mdk
  7. Hi! I just wanted to share my latest track, "Allsparked," which is sort of a remix of the "Scorponok" theme from the Transformers movie. You can hear the track on Soundcloud, and it can be downloaded in lossless Flac format. Best described as full-on melodic stomper? https://soundcloud.com/drumpets/allsparked Feel free to leave some comments - I always appreciate feedback! (To my fellow producers: I'd like to know how the low end sounds to you; I was comparing it to various professionally (presumably, anyway) mastered releases, and I honestly don't know what to think: some tracks have very little "oomph," but a very crisp bass that cuts through glass. I feel that my bassline maybe sounds a little muddy, but it's got more low end thump than some of the tracks I've compared it to.) Cheers, spork

  9. Artist: Various Title: Common Cold Remixes EP Label: Timewarp Records Date: July, 2013 1. Common Cold (Message To Earth Remix) 2. Common Cold (Screw Loose Remix) 3. Common Cold (Lunar Dawn Remix) 4. Common Cold (Dense Denso Remix) How is it we don't have a cure for the common cold? I'm really beginning to believe that a conspiracy is afoot. Male pattern baldness? No problem. Not so fresh feeling...down there...You bet. Grandpa needs more wee wee power? Of course. But somehow the common cold and its Jedi mind tricks have eluded and mystified the most advanced society in the history of civilization. McDonalds can get me to eat a McRib (whatever the hell that thing is), but I can't get rid of the sniffles. Unbelievable. New goa label Timewarp Records is right back at it with another digital EP release. The Common Cold Remixes are 4 tracks by a few projects giving their take on the Nova Fractal original from his first EP Main Sequence Star. As I've mentioned previously the purpose of a remix is to make something sound different from the original while still holding on to what made it recognizable. The original was heavily psytrance based so these remixes aren't a quantum leap from where they began. Where other releases were goa trance, all these tracks are more of the psy-gressive variety. Long unwinding melodies with great transitions into and out of the breaks. If you like long tracks and equate that with value then this is for you as you get almost 40 minutes of music. There is some good power to be found and what keeps these from being generic full-on remixes is the level of detail and lack of copy paste structure. Once again the number of remixes doesn't exhaust the listener and they all have their little...whatever that separates them. Pretty good. Juno Download Beatport Mdk

  22. Artist: Tickets Title: Black Mind Thoughts EP Label: Biomechanix Records Date: November, 2012 1. Ennax (Full On Version) 2. Collapsed Kingdom 3. Waboba Kappibarru Rising Forehead "Chill...chill. Take a chill pill." Tickets is Joseph Summs, a twilight artist who's had great success riding the Android Wave of South African psytrance with 2 albums to his credit and plenty of compilation work. This was one of those EP's that didn't grab me right away. It required further digging. I was going to describe this as a short 3 tracker but there ain't nothing short about 11 and a half minutes, know what I'm sayin? Ennax is an epic storytelling track that has its fast and slow moments. Sounding more like an FLA side project it has an extended intro and symphonic presence until the trance kicks in. Honestly I was more entranced by the sample than the music. Who can ever get enough McLovin? Collapsed Kingdom continues the epic feel and is more Principles of Flight than Tickets. It's ominous and goes medieval on you. He saves the best for last with the most aggressive and Tickets like track. It still carries the same vibe, but the power and in your face factor is turned up. And that track name...what the hell does that even mean? To compare I would say this is more Dreaming of Places than Timelapse with a strong nod towards the theatrical. Consider it expanding his horizons. Entertaining. Re reading the review I don't think I said Tickets enough. So...tickets. Beatport Mdk
  23. Artist: Various Title: Fresh Part 03 EP Label: 3D Vision Date: April, 2013 1. Mutants - Absolum & Ex-Gen 2. Assistance Required (Powered by Absolum) - A-Mush Some of my favorite music is the stuff by Absolum. Inside the Sphere (almost 10 years old) still set the bar so unbelievably high. That high tech acid insanity never fails to get me moving. It's intense, moody and will take out more teeth than a hockey fight. Down goes progressive. The third part in the fresh series is more balls to the wall hyper trance that is purely unforgiving. Can't take the heat? F*ck you it doesn't care. So awesome it makes twilight music seem like ambient. More acid than a dead show it's slicker than oil with thumping rhythms and a frenzied pace. Get out of the way people it's an avalanche of awesome headed straight downhill and no f*cking St. Bernard is ever gonna find you. Only 2 tracks, but you can't handle more than that. Absolum and the Ex-Gen pairing rule and the A-Mush track pushes it to the edge. Whew. Hell. Yes. Beatport
  24. Artist: Various Title: Luxuria EP Label: Disasterpeace Records Date: April, 2013 1. 2116 2. Why Don't They Stop It 3. We Are Insane (feat Dirty Motion) "Hey we all know how we're gonna die baby, we're gonna crash and burn!" And these motherf*ckers are at the wheel. The Pereira brothers from Portugal are back f*cking up your program with their brand of hyper trance. These two have been shaking floors on comps for a while now so here comes their 3 track EP. It is loud and the concussive force is ready to push you across the room. We live in a world where melodic progressive trance is attempting to build delicate houses in the trees where we can all live peacefully. It's beautiful. Well these guys see your treehouse and raise you two chainsaws. Pure power with superb one liner samples. The acid is like an Indian monsoon and I warn you if you even have the slightest twinge of a headache steer clear of this beast. Sometimes I wish it would be a little less stop and start, but that is a minor complaint. When the dust settled and it was all over my ears continued to ring for quite some time. "Why don't they do something, why don't they stop it?" Here's an umbrella...good luck with the hurricane. Long live this sh*t. Beatport Mdk
