  4. Artist: Chromatone Title: Wasabi Label: Nano Records Date: May, 2018 1. Chroma Corona 2. Closing In Fast 3. World In Flames 4. 88MPH (Rmx) 5. Psypress Pill (Wasabi Remix) 6. Alpha Drops 7. Attack of Killer Track 8. Wasabeast 9. B Ware of Square 10. Dub Divider "If my calculations are correct when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious sh*t!" I have so much forgotten music on my computer that this is what it feels like when trying to get through it all. But this was a pleasant surprise. I love finding older albums that hold up well and this offering from Lawrence Ezra Hoffman (USA!) does just that. It is full-on all the way, but with that rich, full Nano sound. So many textures to pull your focus in every direction with great breaks. No linear psytrance here as the music bounces from phrase to phrase alternating between liquid and sharp sounds with Psypress Pill being my favorite. If you're a fan of Nano or the artist and like that lush full-on then don't hesitate to pick this one up. Psyshop Beatspace
  5. Artist: Commercial Hippies Title: If You Can't Stand The Heat... Label: Nano Records Date: 2006 1. Loose Control 2. If You Can't Stand The Heat... 3. ...Get Out of the Chai Room 4. Dr. Freakenstein 5. No More Nights 6. 3 Star Hotel 7. Where Dreams Come From (Technological Rennaisance Edit) 8. Organic Machines 9. The Unconventionalist "It's funny...the world is so different in the daylight. But in the dark your fantasies get so out of hand. " No. No. No. Don't want any girl scout cookies. Where is your mother? Back when Nano records artists didn't make the same track over and over again, they were solid producers of elaborate full-on. Yes there really is such a thing. This is the debut from the Hippies and a decade on it still sounds fresh as a daisy. Back when there was a seemingly never ending tsunami of full-on releases this came along with loads of dynamism. It churns and burns with layers of sound as melodies dance across power rhythms. There's also plenty of effects to give it a lush sound and the sample work is effective without being intrusive. Reminds me of Protoculture and what do you know? His brother is one half of this duo. So based purely on genetics you would assume that he won't be drooling all over the equipment with his underwear on the outside of his pants. Now I cannot independently verify that that didn't happen, but this music is engaging and mostly devoid of what makes people sh*t on full-on. 10 years ago Nano had a great reputation and the other half of the duo is the brother of one of the guys that runs Nano. So to keep peace in the family they're going to bring their best to represent the label. And with quality albums like this you can see why. Can you imagine the dinner convo if one brother's weak effort brought down the other brother's label? Awkward. Very solid and highly recommended! Psyshop Beatspace
  6. Artist: Dickster Title: Inebriatti Label: Nano Records Date: June, 2015 1. Bumbling Loons - Shimmer 2. Dickster & Hopi - Freeze the Cheese 3. Dickster & Master Blasters - Rawcous 4. AMD - For Those About To... 5. Dickster - Caffeinator 6. Dickster & Nigel - Psylonius Funk 7. Dickster & Earthling - Keep It Surreal 8. Dickster & Darshan - Decoder 9. Circuit Breakers - Nighty Night 10. Dickster & Space Tribe - Hack A Haka I know I pick on how bad Psyshop written promos can be, but c'mon man...you gotta do better than this. "Nano Records and Psyshop Music Distribution presents... a fantastic trance album from master class Artist 'Dickster'." That's it? That's not a promo it's a f*cking editorial. And a weak one at that. And what the hell happened to Nano Records? They used to be money, but nowadays it seems like their stuck in a f*cked up audio version of Groundhog day. It started with the subpar Laughing Buddha album and then continued with the been there done that Tristan Way of Life disc. This is an album of Dick Trevor's side projects, a compilation if you will, but he's involved in all the tracks. Let's see if it's three strikes and you're out. Yeah I like where this is going...Is what I said after the opening progressive trance track. It had all the elements to bring a smile to my face. But what began as a playful game of cat and mouse ended with a full-on nut punch. There is nothing here that we haven't heard a million times before. Like three day old birthday cake it's as stale as it could be. From Beavis and Butthead samples to the New Zealand All Blacks (I think that's what it is) chant this sh*t is tired. Doing the same thing over and over is the definition of insanity so ya'll must be crazy. Which is an insult to crazy people cause at least they're unpredictable. Sorry Nano...you out. Psyshop
  7. Artist: Tristan Title: Way of Life Label: Nano Records Date: December, 2014 1. Talking In Technicolour (Dancefloor Deluxe Version) 2. Killerwatts - Another Planet (Tristan Remix) 3. Time and Space 4. Excitement Generator 5. Parallel Reality 6. Melody Maker 7. Multi-Dimensional Consciousness 8. Enlightenment 9. Fearsome Engine - Seeding Life (Tristan Remix) This dog inching his way along this train is a perfect metaphor for this album. There is a lot of motion and for the first few tracks I'm actually interested in what's going to happen. Tristan Cooke is not a newbie and knows what it takes to craft a psychedelic track. This is Nano style full-on that should captivate, but after a little bit I'm like..."Where the f*ck are you going dog?" I keep watching him claw his way to the front of the train, but he never gets there. Imagine one of your co-workers telling a joke he "heard" from a friend but drags it out because he can never quite remember how the story should go. Annoying. And time consuming Eventually you stop hovering around the donut table cause you know he's gonna be there. You don't need that. Eventually you need to get to the f*cking point. But all these tracks sound the same. No up...no down...just straight ahead. I listened to this four times in a row and fell asleep during three of them. The last time I actually fired up Candy Crush. Or put another way... We all love hand jobs. We do. But if there's no passion in it and I don't get to finish it's just a lot of uncomfortable tugging and awkward stares. I'm not saying this is an utter disaster because it's not. But I suppose based on past work I've come to expect a lot more from Tristan and this is just a ho-hum effort. Drug samples and lazy full-on ain't gonna cut it. So that's what this is to me. A listless hand in my pants that turned out to be a disappointing waste of time. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  8. Artist: Laughing Buddha Title: Illusions & Collusions Label: Nano Records Date: June, 2014 1. Laughing Buddha feat. Eat Static - Razorback 2. Laughing Buddha feat. Lucas - Neutrino Storm 3. Laughing Buddha feat. Dickster - Stepping Stoned 4. Laughing Buddha feat. Master Blasters - High Right Now 5. Laughing Buddha feat. Space Tribe - Mind Altering Technology 6. Laughing Buddha feat. Groove Addict - Something Out There 7. Laughing Buddha feat. Tristan - Back In The Game 8. Laughing Buddha feat. Electric Universe - Stargate 9. Laughing Buddha feat. Avalon - Bring It "Yeah I'm gonna go find myself in the mountains." Said every white chick in a horror movie. That sh*t doesn't turn out so well. Ever. It's no wonder black people make fun of us. Anyway...half of Cosmosis is better than nothing I always say. Jeremy is back with his second album and I guess he had a lot of free beer at his house cause all his friends showed up to drink it. While they were pretending not to hit on his sister and puking in the pool they also helped him out in the studio. What could go wrong? Razorback- What the f*ck does this have to do with Arkansas football? Besides being disappointing and making little kids cry? Yeah Merv I'm gonna need you to step away from the keg and give me a little more. I know it's just the first track, but seriously I'm about sixteen bars away from a nap. Neutrino Storm- Ok Lucas made it a little better. We're now one notch above uninspired full-on. *sees Jeremy's sister in a tight tube top* 'Scuse me. Gotta go before she sees Clooney! Stepping Stoned- So all we had to do was add a little weed to the party? *Hi-fives Dickster* My man throws a slight bit of dubstep in the break. Pretty good. High Right Now- Me too. But not because of drugs. It's cause I'm crowd surfing. *swings foot and knocks over a statue. Watches it break into a million pieces.* My bad. Mind Altering Technologies- Olli whassup? I knew I could count on you to mess with my mind. Still cranking out those drug samples huh? Ummm...Olli? Olli! Dude, your headphones aren't even plugged in! By the way you dropped this. *Hands him dozens of tabs of acid that were trailing behind him like bread crumbs.* So that's how he does it? Something Out There- What's your name? *shouting over music* Oh, nice to meet you Sanjay. Don't take this the wrong way, but your track seems to be on autopilot. Aren't you gonna twist some knobs or something? Back in the Game- Tristan! Yo man are you ok? *Track plays water droplet sounds* Shake the dew off that lily and get the hell outta the john! Jeremy really needs you, he's dyin' out there! Stargate- Boris, what the f*ck man why are you touching my face? Nah it's cool man, I just...you know it's a little awkward that's all. Me standing here and umm...you with ah, I mean where are your...you know, your...pants? Man I gotta get the f*ck outta here. Bring it- Yeah Leon I was just leaving. Nah man you're cool. You had the best track, but this party's lame. I gotta work tomorrow, the keg is tapped, and I think I saw Ari take a dump in the living room. I mean, who does that? Good luck with your next album and tell Jeremy thanks for the invite. I don't know what went wrong here, but this album completely underwhelmed. Like going to a party with the cool crowd and finding out how weird they really are. Which is sad because there are a lot of really talented artists here. All of whom have done better work than this. This album is an example of what could've been. Most of the tracks sound the same and have that Nano sound. Normally that's a good thing, but I believe an opportunity was missed here to give these tracks some depth. It just comes off as thin full on. I've been to that party too many times and I just wanna go home. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk

  11. Daniel Bernardo has been Portugal's most favoured Psy Trance star for many years with his project Menog. Now he presents his latest project on Nano records, Skyfall. Skyfall has been making waves in the Psy world for the last year with his fresh approach to psychedelic progressive sounds. Think deep, melodic, rolling beats, still with a tough edge to keep things burning on the dance floor. The kind kind of journey music originally associated with Nano records. Now you getting the picture! On 'Regenerate' Skyfall remixes Psy Trance classics with his driving progressive style, featuring reworked anthems from the likes Deedrah, Astrix, LOUD, Ace Ventura & TimeLock, Phaxe & Ectima, Pixel & M-Theory, Zen Mechanics & LOUD, Techyon & Mother Womb plus a new remix of his own track 'Nano Chip'. 13. Artist: Various Title: Avalon - The Remixes Volume One Label: Nano Records Date: October, 2012 1. Final Transmission (Zen Mechanics rmx) 2. Funky Voodoo (Captain Hook rmx) 3. Stinkin Warehouse (Loud rmx) 4. Aggressive Progressive (Burn In Noise rmx) 5. Destiny Awaits (Cosmosis rmx) 6. Teleporter (Laughing Buddha rmx) 7. Out There (Tristan rmx) 8. Swamp Funk (Master Blasters rmx) 9. Distant Futures (Dickster rmx) 10. Into The New World (Sonic Species rmx) "Insanity is wasting your life as a nothing. Insanity is being sh*t on...beat down. Coasting through life on a miserable existence when you have a caged lion locked inside and the key to release it." This is Leon Kane from the land of soccer hooligans and tasteless food and he was kind enough to let a bunch of full-on producers have his way with his tracks like Michael Jackson did with Corey Feldman. It's ok kid. It's not your fault. But the sooner you come clean the sooner you can put away the zipper jackets and stop moonwalking. It's over, he's gone. He can't hurt you anymore. The results are predictable. Most of the tracks originate from Leon's terrific debut album Distant Futures. Normally I hate remix albums because I have to round up all the original tracks and see if they actually did a remix. Which inevitably leads to way more f word than my wife is comfortable with these days. But not this time. Nope, from now on I'll treat it as just another compilation. So if a track blows it just blows. Own it. Let's start with the bad. The Captain Hook remix is annoyingly terrible. Loud takes a track from the great Tales of Heads compilation and deconstructs it, turning it into a disjointed and unfocused mess. The Cosmosis remix uses a great sample and does nothing with it relegating this track to autopilot. Destination...generic full-on town. While you're there say hello to Chromatone for me. Whew, what happened there? And your ears do not deceive you, that was a Matrix sample on the Sonic Species remix. Was it in the original? I don't know I told you I wasn't going back. He left it in there so now he owns it. Look I love that movie too, but how long are we gonna beat that horse? But lo, there were beacons of hope. Lucas does what Lucas does and delivers a layered and flashy gurgler a la God Save The Machine. The Burn In Noise remix shines bright in the goa sun. A definite scorcher. The Tristan and Laughing Buddha remixes were solid full-on stuff that didn't flatten the house, but some windows were smashed and the dog bowl was knocked over. I liked the debut album from Avalon as I previously mentioned. It was complex and ever evolving. The Nano Records feel is with this. The power, the sounds, and the mechanical mayhem at a rapid pace. But for the most part it falls short and is just a collection of slightly better than mediocre full-on remixes. One thing I wanted to mention because it confused me. You could by the CD from Psyshop and get 10 tracks or you could buy the digital download from Nano cheaper and get 13 tracks. On what planet does that make sense? Shouldn't you reward someone who actually purchases the CD? Now maybe it's one of those things where you get a key to the extra tracks once you get the CD, I dunno. But I haven't been able to confirm that. Still the way that album went, you might wanna tell them to keep the extra three tracks. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk

After his recently successful 'Strange Sense' EP released on Nano Records, the calls for 'more' are now being answered with his first full length debut album! "Landing on the Moon" presents a young producer with a huge amount of potential, and working closely with Eitan Reiter (of LOUD fame) has proved priceless, with Shayman's Nu-School Israeli sound pulling influences from classic trance to current Psy grooves, into a new distinct sound that soon everyone will be talking about.
