  1. Tracklist Enhanced Acid 8:32 Eternal Freedom 11:10 Himalayan Heights 9:30 Electric Outburst 9:54 The First Expedition 9:15 Lucid Feelings 9:24 Around The Stars 10:48 Reaching Sunrise 9:20 I think the artwork is colorful, warm and inviting, and retains the Suntrip tradition of cover artworks with a more organic feel to it. I'm not sure what the original medium is, but it reminds me of the appearance of sand mandalas made with small colored sand granules. Perhaps it's some type of fabric or a painting with mixed medium. It has atleast a digital retouch in photoshop, so either way it's a mixed medium of sorts. https://suntriprecords.bandcamp.com/album/eternal-freedom Listening to Himalayan Heights, it's a 90's throwback for sure. It reminds me of the genre Dream Trance and fuses some beautiful and rather majestic chilled pads with the type of uplifting acidic 303 layers we've come to expect from Afgin. This track also have some clear inspiration found in the Hardtrance and Acid Trance genres. The feelings conveyed are those of pure nostalgia, and also indeed as marketed by warm sentiments which will teleport the listener to a nice sunny beach in the middle east. Nice track, only remarks I have is the panorama effect on the main 303 line. It's a bit dizzying, could have been toned down a bit. And the kick is a bit on the weaker side, I prefer the big Nitzho kicks but that's just a stylistic preference. The bass as pointed out is a bit low compared to the rest of the elements. However I'm not a fan of modern Psytrance either where the bass is the focal element of the tracks, to the point of becoming the lead element in a way. In classic Goa Trance, the bass played more of a supportive role to the rest of the elements. The melodies will always be at the center stage in Goa Trance IMO. That beeing said, maybe the mastering engineer could have boosted the bass a bit? On to the next track which is Around The Stars. I just pressed play on Suntrips youtube channel, so the track order isn't correct. This track starts of harder, the kick is more doof and deep, and the track gives of a more hypnotic Acid Trancey vibe in the first part than previous track. Around the 6 minute mark comes a nice surprise, it changes mood completely from the hypnotic and more monotone Acid Trance sentiments, to a much more elevated and indeed euphoric pad-driven sensation. Providing a cathartic final part to the song, which is a successful concept. Amazing track favourite track so far. The best way I can describe this track for comparison, is that it sounds a bit like the kind of euphoric Goa Trance that Artifact303 makes, but through a 90s Dream Trance/Acid Trance prism. It's more scaled back, not so much focus on intricate layers, but instead on pure emotions and clarity to hear those sounds which truly matters the most. Which are the harmonies themselves, and the 303 lines. I think this track might provide more insight into how Afgin have chosen to interpret the 90's Acid Trance/Dream Trance aesthetics. Since in the Acid genre and its related offshoots, the TB-303 often played the simultaneous role of bass and acid line/main motif. So to put the 303 at center stage as in the good old days of those genres, the actual synth bass might've been toned down. Next track I randomly chose is the closing number Reaching Sunrise. The intro reminds me of type of clubby music Antiloop or Richi-M made in the 90's. Besides the intro the track is more is firmly achored in the Israeli Goa tradition established by MFG and Astral Projection around their early albums. (That beeing said, Richi-M had some rather oriental/Goa sounding tunes as well.) There is a very spiralling and sparkling sensation to the first of this track, the main lead is surrounded by carefully sculpted 303 layers. It sounds fresh and uplifting, and there are some unexpected bass keychanges thrown in for good measure. Overall it's a simpler approach however than the early Goa Trance made by Astral Projection and MFG. As the sound image is not as densely layered with regards to psychedelic background sounds, as those albums. Which I think fits this more Trancey take on Goa trance. What's here however really counts, and you'll be delighted to hear this fresh take on a genre which according some might've stagnated in the last couple of years. Re-threading some familiar formulas, Afgin is however not afraid to experiment and go back in time for inspiration among the heroes of yesteryear. The big 2 minute break in the middle of the track is excellent, and and evokes some rather interesting cinematic scenery. A purely epical reality-escape courtesy of these light-laden grandiose pads. This is something I would welcome more into the Goa Trance genre, I love this aspect of regular Trance. And indeed in modern Techno, which as become fused with Trance elements these days. When I think of it, this album might have some influences from early Yahel and Eyal Barkan tracks as well. The main climactic part which comes after the break, gives me a huge flashback, I'm not sure to exactly what track. It just feels familiar in the way it changes keys. A very nostalgic and euphoric track. I like this one even more than Around The Stars, which I think is a very solid track. When I think about it some more, the style reminds me a lot of an old group a couple of friends of mine had in the 90s here in Sweden. Atomic Troop/PL-Prophecy, they were quite big on mp3.com. But I don't think Afgin heard them? They and many other artists/groups of this era often did these types of key changes in the bass and the melodies. https://goatrance.xyz/music/atomictroop/ https://ia800504.us.archive.org/25/items/iuma-atomictroop/AtomicTroop_-_Infinite_Arousal.mp3 (Melodic Acid Trance/Hardtrance) https://ia600504.us.archive.org/25/items/iuma-atomictroop/AtomicTroop_-_Im_in_love.mp3 (Acid Trance) https://ia600504.us.archive.org/25/items/iuma-atomictroop/AtomicTroop_-_Paralyzed_By_Trance.mp3 (Goa Trance) Real euphoric 303 Wizards of yesteryear. So I'm really happy to hear Afgin reviving these type of styles. It's actually uncanny to hear how close Afgin managed to get these older styles in terms of how they mixed back then, the bass was not in your face back then. Overall I think on this album Afgin appears to be less constrained by expectations on the style. He here shows a maturation of his artistic repertoire, and provides a rich interpretation of styles. In the process creating something new. This album doesn't seem to be as honed in on recreating the Astral Projection sound as his debut album at times was. Which is great, and makes me curious as to what paths Afgin choses to take in the future. I hope it's an illuminated path full of light, my best wishes!

  13. So every now and then I travel back in time by means of revisiting old albums. Some of which many will agree upon as beeing essential and classics, something with a timeless appeal if you will. I often do so to see if they have aged gracefully and to see if nostalgia might've worn off. Some albums which were considered groundbreaking at the time might've lost some of the shimmer, but might still retain the compositional qualities which still makes them a joy to listen to. Others will still sound stellar, and one might argue not even beeing in need of remasters, due to how perfectly they were crafted. And then there's albums which will sound hopelessly dated. So my question is, what's your albums that have aged like a fine wine? And what albums are starting to really show their age? I will add some detailed examples of both as I revisit some classics. But for now I will say that the Infected Mushroom album Classical Mushroom, is still a damn funky album full of cool melodies and interesting sounds, it doesn't however sound as stellar mixwise as I remember it. It was very groundbreaking upon release, and much of it was probably due to how fresh and new it sounded stylewise as well as the additions of acoustic elements. These novelties are of course nothing unusual today so the initial wow-effect is somewhat dampened. A remaster might remedy some of this. The Hallucinogen Twisted album on the other hand I consider a splendid old wine, which I would highly recommend to any newcommer to this genre. It sounds as alien as ever, and the weird lysergic landscape it teleports your mind to is still unrivaled. The mixing and sound still to this day to my ears sounds fantastic, a very organic, living and breathing sound. It almost seems to me that some albums might have a shelf-life of perhaps 10 years, then they might start to sound dated, the true classics however thus far are still kicking it some 25 years later. So it begs the question as well, will they to become outdated some 25 years from now? Or will they stand the test of time until there is a new way of enjoying music in the future, which might not even be about recording/arranging music in the linear fashion we do today. We might be sipping on some drinks on mars listening to music on our Neuralink music players in our brains. With 3D music floating through our field of vision like a digital hallucination. Since we have seen an uptick in remasters over the last two decades, I will keep it open to add examples of remastered albums as well, as the remaster might have become old by now if it was remastered in the 00's for example. And besides sometimes the remaster in itself might reveal an old albums weakness. Or at other times you might not have enjoyed what the remaster did to an album and so for that reason skipped it, the puritan way so to say. Some might argue as well that certain albums should be appreciated in the vinyl format unmastered, just as they were intended. And at other times the remaster might've been just what the doctor prescribed and elevated an already stellar album to dizzying heights. Some examples that spring to mind in this category are some of the remastered albums released on DAT Records and Suntrip Records over the years, which were really good remasters, (Dimension-5, Crop Circles, Pleiadians etc). Since it was a long time ago now since the first wave of Neo Goa, the albums of that era are of course valid candidates to this thread as well. Ra - To Sirius is an album I plan to revisit, not sure if it needs a remaster or not. It always had a very plesant sound to me. Miranda - Northern Light still sounds ace to me, very good 90s mastering. I'm still curious about how it would sound remastered since the remastered collection of Miranda tracks released last year on Spiral Trax was really good.

  15. Artist: Imba Artist: Liberation Label: Mamomam Records Date: Dec 5, 2019 Tracklist:- 1. Liberation 2. Imba & Hisia - Elysium Island (Imba Remix) 3. Imba & Lydia Del Ray - Dancefloor Stompers 4. Dimension 5 - Omega Centaurus (Imba 2019 Remix) See what I mean? Am I here for me or for you? I've always been a fan of Mamomam Records cover art & Liberation is no exception, warm tones and a softness that help you feel uplifted and safe. I've only heard Mamomam release rich detailed trance so far and expect this to be no different. Imba managed to get his track with Ephedra at the start of the latest Goa Trance Legacy and this album is no different. Liberation gives us a smooth intro flipped into full power banger, the main lead floats around the top of the track while other elements come and go. The production is fantastic, every part of the track is distinctly enhanced and detailed. The shoutey man voice was a cool trick too. Overall a decent track with a little bit of cool everything. Elysium island (Imba Remix) is a good track all the way through but becomes an Egyptian deity at the soft soothing mid break, i love that stuff, then bom shanka the 50mg of melody delivered directly to your amygdala starts to demand movement. All in all, an aptly named track. Dancefloor Stompers brings with it my favourite atmosphere and mood of the album. If 5g towers sent out waves that made people feel as good this track does we wouldn't have so many conspiracies. Is Dancefloor Stompers the antidote? The antibody that we need? It damn well is the track that had Tsotsi feeling good. Hot damn that mid break and that big, throbbing rod of energy bursting into the scene is just a treat. I can tell when Imba is having a good time with a track and this feels like one of those moments. *puff* Omega Centaurus by Dimension 5 Dimension 5 and remixed by Imba is of course a pretty exciting track title to see. Omega Centaurus without Imba is already ecstasy. Imba puts every detail in its rightful spot and digitizes it up a lil and when it ends it feels like it was all over to fast...Leaving you feeling empty, sick, dazed and alone. So alone. But then you hit play and it's all muy biene again. ~ This is a good little EP, it packs a punch. The word around town is that Imba has finished his studio, you can notice the difference in quality here. It's big thick bright trance that is right up Mamomam Records alley. It's a tragedy that Artists and Dj's aren't out there banging these records to crowds of wild humans. And it's a beautiful tragedy that so far we have only figured out how to connect as one people when we are faced with tragedy. That's not from Goa trance's lack of trying but we aren't here for the politics. Liberation EP is BitCHhiN'. https://mamomamrecords.bandcamp.com/album/liberation

  18. I decided to write this after reading DJSunborn's comment on the voting thread. "Tips for the new producers: Sorry, nothing "ringed my bell", try harder! STOP using psy-trance machine gun bass everywhere, DON'T make everything sound "Full-on", lower down your damn BPM!, STOP over-compress your mastering!!!!!!!!!!!, BE more unique and for God shake, FORGET the typical Goa or Psy forms or use them minimal!, DON'T copy-paste ideas from others or from the past, Create your own sound! This is the ONLY way to be remembered in the future!" Important observations. Although they seem harsh they are to the point and well-intended, I assume. Concerning the tempo, very few goa trance tracks are in the range of 135-140 bpm, with 130-135 bpm almost nonexistent. Not to mention that artists do not include a midtempo/chillout track in most recent albums. Variation in bpm or even mood is scarce as well (e.g. Hypnoxock-Eurythmia). This is not an 'oldschool-newschool' distinction. The most acclaimed albums from the first wave of goa trance that revived the genre 10-15 years ago and seem to stand well the test of time have an easily recognizable style ("signature sound") - often combined with variation in bpm and/or midtempo/chillout tracks. Regardless of personal preferences: Khetzal - Corolle (2005) Goasia - From Other Spaces (2007) Ra - 9th (2008) E - Mantra - Arcana (2009) Filteria - Daze Of Our Lives (2009) Artha - Influencing Dreams (2010) Crossing Mind - Holotropic Paradigm (2010) Which of the newer releases will stand the test of time? IMO, the more of the above features they have, the more memorable they will be in the years to come. About excessive compression: it does not make the music sound more powerful or dance-floor friendly! It simply makes it bland and headache-inducing!

  21. Hey there! My name is Seppe, and I just made my profile here. I've been producing goa trance for 2 years now, and my artist name is Globox. My goal is to make tracks with a more 90's oldschool sound, but I don't know if it always works out that way though :p I like to put a lot of acid in my music, but still keep it very melodic. Recently, I played my very first live-set at a party in Brussels, and now I uploaded it to mixcloud. Most of these tracks were never released online, so tell me what you think (P.S. you can find me on Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/globoxgoa), but most of my tracks aren't online.)

  23. Sooo with 2019 kind of, nearly wrapping up i have been thinking towards what is to come and what im most excited for album wise in the rest of this year and into 2020.. For me im super keen to hear Triquetras follow up album. The first one blew me away and their live sets matched it somehow! Also keen to hear new Median Project after that being probably my album of the year, but that may be a while off... I think maybe Mindsphere is due as well for another great one? And not to forget probably my most anticipated, ok definitely my most anticipated goa album, from Filteria, whenever that may be! What about you? What are you guys excited for and what should i be excited for that i might have missed!
  24. Artist: Jagoa Title: The First Steps Label: Self Release Date: November 28, 2019 1. Het Fractale Elfje 2. Simon Says 3. Lunar Fractals 4. Tot Aan De Maan En Terug 5. Heel Ver Weg 6. Roots 7. Astral Flower Power 8. Intergalactic Hippy 9. Geometrical Vibration If Cronomi Hadn't thrown this release up on Facebook I may have never known about it. It's like Jago Boermans didn't want us to know about it. Maybe it's his little secret. Maybe he isn't happy enough with the results to be promoting it like it's better than a Late Late talk show. I don't know why any one wouldn't be happy with this production, it fucking rocks but if that is the reason then that's great, because some new works are going to be even better by his standard! That is all conjecture of course. Maybe Jago is just super chill and thinks that the universe will just do it's thing. Maybe he just wants to sit back and bask in his relevance to the cosmos. Either way, i'm happy with this release, full of warm low ends that wrap you up like the warmest safety blankets, Ominous acid that sits around the background and barking leads that shoot at you from the depths. ~ Het Fractale Elfje, The Jagoa tracks I do know handle samples and long intro’s really well. This is instantly the most industrial and raw of them all so far though. Dark, Moody, Metallic and still spacious. A great album intro and great track that has growling, grimy melodies. Simon Says Jago just wants people to dance a little more and worry a little less. Simon Says that the world is a complicated place and you can complicate it more by attaching yourselves to small parts of it to grasp for some sort of meaning because the prospect of allowing yourself to live in freedom is so horribly terrifying. Clap your hands and dance to this terrific track, fuck Simon, do it anyway. Lunar Fractals Comes in hot with some deep moods of forbearance. The disco baselines comes in and sweeps the track into ever deeper regions. The track grows and grows into a proper trance track that takes you away once again. Tot Aan De Maan En Terug smooths it way above your head with ease. The melody never grows old and cruises in, out & around the place for the rest of the track. Heel Ver Weg like all previous tracks builds into a monster. This time I didn’t even notice until I was swept up into the final crescendos of the final acts melodies and then released into the soft outro. Roots is another moody synth heavy track that carries you off into a world of floaty melodies. The track just gets cooler and cooler as it goes on. Connecting each emotion that it has created together into an uplifting sense of fulfilled joy. Astral Flower Power is a fully sparkled uplifting bit of enjoyment. Each break brings something new, like melodies of light force, interweaved spanglements of psychedelia and a dose of vitamin D so big you can forget the sun. Intergalactic Hippy might be one of the best tracks here for its atmospheres and breakdown after breakdown that releases in sweet insanity. Goametrical Vibration is a more tribal feeling track that has shed its moody club atmosphere for a more galactic experience. A slow burn as we spin through the Asteroid Belt only to find ourselves in the chaotic nothing beyond. A uplifting and cruisy closing track that floats you away out from the album with a sense of calm satisfaction. ~ If there is a proper release album coming out in the future then this album should be all you need to get prepped for it. Jago has a real talent for building tracks higher and higher. Each track is like a little journey that grows in intensity as it meanders through our minds. I really enjoyed this sneaky little release and will be purchasing it and all future works. https://jagoa.bandcamp.com/track/het-fractale-elfje
