  1. Artist: Radioactive Sandwich Title: B-Sides Vol. 1 Label: Self Released Date: March, 2012 1. Facebreaker 2. Falling Down 3. Make It Clap 4. Jabberwockey 5. Flying Guillotine 6. Resolution 7. The Wall 8. No Sound 9. Tundra 10. Sun In The Sea "I'm an American...you're a sick asshole!" Take that metric system! When I don't know what to write I go get a sandwich. My favorite is a radioactive one. These two are a better version of the Chemical Brothers. Big beats, moody vocals, and not afraid to use the latest trends in music. This is a collection of stuff

  4. Artist: Sound Strider Title: Intrepid Travels EP Label: La Briche Records Date: February, 2014 01 - The Stakes (115 BPM) 02 - Menlo Park (115 BPM) 03 - Childhoods End (115 BPM) 04 - Limit (130 BPM) 05 - Betoniere (105 BPM) Gritty beats, juicy bass, and samples aplenty is what you get here. Throw in some turntablism and the recipe for nasty in a good way is there. Sometimes the percussion is off beat on purpose which is kinda cool. I feel they do themselves a disservice though with the extended length of their tracks at this slow bpm. What's that? They're not that long? So why
  5. Artist: Schlang Title: Little Information Deposits EP Label: Ektoplazm Date: March, 2014 01 - Gangster Computer God (75/150) 02 - Philip K. Dick Stuff (128) 03 - Plus Or Minus (67.5/135) 04 - OneHundreds (80/160) What is the fascination with project names that sound like a man's junk? Schlang is one vowel away from being known as the private parts of a man. And to title your EP Little Information Deposits suggest that you and your tiny junk have a leaking problem. Maybe Schlang is German for Itchy Weiner. Meh, maybe it's only my juvenile mind. I say itchy cause this sh
  6. Psystep has lots of flavors, but very few actual tracks. Last year I made Intelligence Quotient, a mix based on IDM and a really strange niche of psystep that highlights really slow and tripped out music. This time it's more chilled out, with the classic psystep elements of Heavy Gravity. Lots of variety and interesting soundscapes, melodies, and textures. This one starts out nice and slow, but picks up quite a bit as it progresses. Enjoy! Ott - Adrift In Hilbert Space [Ottsonic] Chris Komus - Everything Just Started To Go Apart [Enig'matik] Whitebear - Lost in Vibrations (Pt. II) [Mu
  7. Artist: Mumukshu Title: Time Passes At Various Speeds EP Label: Released on Ektoplazm Date: January, 2014 01 - Transformative Adventures (100 BPM) 02 - Parallel Planes (105 BPM) 03 - Time Passes At Various Speeds (105 BPM) 04 - Folding (108 BPM) Sounding more like something you'd order from a sushi restaurant Mumukshu is American Jacob Penn who has made something I can nod my head to. Bouncy breakbeats and plenty of bass sounds with melodies that give it a sense of grandeur. There are glitchy tendencies of course, but it's not just noise. Computer sounds are melded creatively w
  8. Artist: Bogtrotter Title: Sonic Visions EP Label: None Date: December, 25 2013 01 - Bogtrotter - Mystery Beneath (72 BPM ; 7/4) 02 - Bogtrotter - Sonic Visions (68 BPM) 03 - Grouch - Perfukt (Bogtrotter Remix) (70 BPM ; 6/4) 04 - Bogtrotter - Unknown (80 BPM) 05 - Bogtrotter - The Escape (70 BPM) 06 - Bogtrotter - Dismal Direction (74 BPM) This is some slow twisted sh*t. Know how I know? For starters, there are 6 tracks and the size is 66.6MB. "I am evil Homer! I am evil Homer!" Whattya need a f*cking roadmap? That's some evil sh*t. You know that's what he was going

  11. Artist: Various Title: Elementis Label: Adapted Records Date: August, 2013 01 - Mr. Bill - The Garden (70 BPM) 02 - Whitebear - Fever Dreams (93 BPM) 03 - Kalya Scintilla - You Are Divine (100 BPM) 04 - Messy Mass - Fruitcakes Are For Old Ladies (125 BPM) 05 - Mus Sck - Eternal Smile (88 BPM) I'm struggling with a description of this album. There's my wallet! Yeah, that'll do. Dubby beats guaranteed to make you bob your head. Liquid basses juicier than a summer peach. Flutes and tribal percussion give it an earthy feel amidst plenty of glitchiness. All top notch
  12. Artist: Zebbler Encanti Experience Title: Psychic Projections Label: Gravitas Recordings Date: December, 2012 01 - Psychic Projections (feat. 13. Artist: Tron Sepia Title: Weird Fishes & Other Stories Label: Fish N Trips Records Date: October, 2012 1 - Flange (70 BPM) 2 - Factory (70 BPM) 3 - Cuttlefish (65 BPM) 4 - Abyss (70 BPM) 5 - Factory (Video Edit) (70 BPM) 6 - Abyss (VIP) (70 BPM) O Canada...our home and native land. My neighbors to the north have produced quite the varied album here. Downtempo grooves and dubstep rhythms go hand in hand with the smooth female vocals and melodic pads. Delicious slow motion electronic stretching as if I were Neo dodging bullets from the agents. Those bass drops hum and oscil
  14. Astroschnautzer – Twå Album: Twå Artist: Astroschnautzer Genre: IDM, Glitch Label: Freudian Slip Records When: May 2013 Size: 161MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - Yks 02 - Twå 03 - Weird-O Komp-O 04 - Plan C 05 - Vapaaehtoinen Taidebiisi 06 - Worm Song 07 - Walkman 08 - Muukalais-Dub 09 - Aalto 10 - Korton 11 - Dögge 12 - Bb-Dub 13 - Psyko-Paatti 14 - Snapper Tuna 15 - Aa:n Kahvila 16 - Space Humppa Although definitely interesting, slightly entertaining, and unique, the clattered clinking and
  15. Artist: Atman Construction Title: Elysian Terraform Label: Liquid Seed Recordings Date: December, 2012 01 - Aventurescence (143 BPM) 02 - Parallax View (143 BPM) 03 - Solipsysm (135 BPM) Three things I know: One, the striking artwork is done by Paul Sargent Two, it's mastered by Colin Oood Bennun. And three, I have no idea who is the mind behind this project. So I can only assume it is aliens who are not ready to reveal themselves to us as of yet. And it sounds like what aliens might make. They take everything that they hear and put it into a track. Downtempo with glitchy
  16. Artist: Various Title: The Technosopher's Stone Label: Glitchy.Tonic.Records Date: August, 2011 01 - Xenoscapes - The Fern Dimension (128 BPM) 02 - Brujo's Bowl - Techno Trousers (135 BPM) 03 - Psilocybe Vibe - Rhododendron (130 BPM) 04 - Dharana - The Pit (135 BPM) 05 - Radioactive.Cake - Human Body Part Industry (132 BPM) 06 - Loagsta - Delivery (132 BPM) 07 - Carnivorous Vuduist - Nebel Des Krieges (125 BPM) 08 - Nikroma - Forest Freq (128 BPM) 09 - Sporangia - Endospore (134 BPM) 10 - Zeitgeist - Technokrates (130 BPM) 11 - SourOne - Neurosynaptic Malfunktion (126 BPM) 12 - Paracoz
  17. Artist: Mr. Bill & Freddy Todd Title: Gourmet Everything EP Label: Adapted Records Date: November, 2012 01 - Bloss (129 BPM) 02 - Gourmet Everything (105 BPM) 03 - Bloss (Circuit Bent Remix) (86 BPM) 04 - Gourmet Everything (Tha Fruitbat Remix) (110 BPM) Mr. Bill is known for his glitchy hip-hop beats that usually have a great and funky result. Check out his Suave EP for further music to cruise down the street in your 64. I've never heard of Freddy Todd, but he's from Detroit and that's something. At least they got rid of the dead guy in front of city hall. Sh*t, S
  18. Artist: Wolfen Technologies Title: Foreign Frequencies EP Label: None Date: January, 2013 1. Ancient Feelings 2. Keep on Flowing 3. Senses Because I'm voluntarily throwing money at Elias Gits, Anoebis, Psyshop, and Avatar I'm taking a look at our good friends over at Ektoplazm. Add to that my wife has discovered that bras from England fit better than from the US, I'm trying to save a few bucks. I decided to check this out because aside from the very interesting cover art this guy (Tom Chant) is from Wales. I spent a year attending the College of Swansea in which studying was
  19. So this is probably the most interesting mix I've ever done. Firstly, I want to make sure everyone understands that the title of the mix or the genre tag "braindance" is implying no sort of pretentious measure of intelligence on the listener, to where only "smart people" can listen to this. However, you must enter this mix with an open mind. I have ventured into some very experimental territory, playing tracks with rich textures, crystal-clear melodies, and neuron-tickling soundscapes that rely heavily on glitching and programming. I had an awesome time making this. Mordant Music - ModeM
  20. Artist: Itsu Title: Sublimate Label: Ektoplazm released Date: August, 2012 01 - Monsoon (77.5 BPM) 02 - Drizzle (95 BPM) 03 - Don't Dance To This (130 BPM) 04 - Top Harmonic (90 BPM) "In the beginning there was nothing. No space, no time...just nothing." I love taking a look at music that is unknown to me. Life is like a box of chocolates you know. Well the candy store that is Ektoplazm is open for business. And that business is providing great music for free. Itsu is Ben Jancovich and this EP is a genre buster. There are elements of dubstep, downtempo, drum n bass, glitch and
  21. Artist: Aes Dana Title: Pollen Label: Ultimae Date: December, 2012 1. Jetlag Corporation 2. Borderline 3. Conditioned (Album Edit) 4. Tree. Some 5. A carmine day 6. 101 Clouds 7. Riven 8. The meeting point 9. Horizontal Rain 10. Low tide explorations "I am, for the first time...optimistic." Some people just know how to get it right. Consistently. Vincent Villuis is the mind behind this project and he has left a string of superb albums in his wake. Dude's like King Midas. Founding member of Asura, part of H.U.V.A. Network...the guy just pumps out quality. I wonder when he p

  23. The fusion of psytrance and dubstep is a very rare thing indeed, and it is even more rare to find high quality, proper sounding tracks. In contrast to my last psystep mix: http://www.psynews.o...psybreaks/, this one doesn't have such a goofy vibe, and I actually blend the tracks. It starts very tame; accessible to anyone who likes classic atmospheric dubstep. As the mix evolves, you will experience a deeper, more sinister trip. I'm super proud of this one. Ital Tek - Cyclical [Planet Mu] Coda - Pablo [Wonk#Ay] Gibson - Flooressence [Addictech] Bird of Prey - Stargazer [Cyberset]
