  3. Artist: Syb Unity Nettwerk Title: Mind Rider / Source of Life EP Label: Aquarius Date: 1995 1. Mind Rider (11:29) 2. Source of Life (11:01) Kris Kylven is a stranger to nobody who frequents this forum. Responsible for the unparalleled dark goa trance epic Ultimate Experience (which was recently re-released with awesome updates) he obviously didn't start out that way. One of his other projects was Syb Unity Nettwerk which to be honest sounded a lot like UX. This is one of his earlier releases and boy does it show. Mind Rider flirts with the industrial side of things with crunchy guitars lurking in the background as goa leads roll in waves. Both tracks are very thin and monotonous to me with Source of Life being the most boring. The production is rather sparse to say the least, but this was 2 years before he gave us the Ultimate Experience. Far from his best work, but it does give a little idea where he was heading. Only for collectors and completionists. Mdk
  4. Here you go, another mixtape by me! This time I ventured much more into newer Goa territory, heavily influenced by two of my favorite labels Cronomi and Suntrip. More info on the set and the tracklist can be found inside the link ^^ have fun and remember: comments are more than welcome! http://www.mixcloud.com/ironsun/a-waking-dream/
  5. Artist: Moonweed Title: Telepath EP Label: Celtic Records Date: 1996 1. Telepath 2. Telepath (Remix) Everyone loves a little trip down memory lane. If you were one of the lucky souls who got to experience the raw power and emotion goa trance wielded by attending festivals before everyone got computers and smartphones you could be as old as I am. I missed out, but that's to the internet my search for old school gens actually meets with positive results. Sure it's not like being there, but I also don't have to sleep in a tent or go without showering. Moonweed is Jamie Graham and you can find his music all over goa compilations but the EP's are harder to find. Telepath can be found on Destination Goa The Second Chapter , Goa Spirit Hard Psychedelic Trance, and so on. But the EP takes an already growling acid ripper and puts it on steroids with a remix. And unlike the reviewer on Discogs, I think that remix is an improvement. The 303 is uncontrollable and I don't think he turns it off for the entire track. Add a bright and shimmery lead for backup and you've got a very potent one two punch. Full steam ahead with only a slight respite this track is bursting with awesomeness. Like an awesome fruit pie. If you can find it...ah, you know. Mdk

  8. Artist: Various Title: Cyber Trance Label: Javelin Ltd Date: November, 1995 1. Astral Pancakes - Hallucinogen 2. Tipnotic - Tipnotic 3. Chinese Whispers - Synchro 4. Kashmir - Guy Sebbag/Galcarny 5. Conflict - GNOTR 6. Tempest (Union Jack Remix) - Salamander 7. Spiritus - 100th Monkey 8. Torrero Halluciné- Climax Absolute 9. Alien Airport - The Infinity Project 10. Polyphonic Raid - Genecom 11. Space Control - Section X 12. Prognosis - The Antidote Ambient Disc 1. CD-ROM track with a DJ mixing program - (yeah I'm not a DJ so this means nothing to me.) 2. Waterdrums - Union Jack 3. Orange - Quarter 1: La Couleur 4. Humate & Rabbit - South 5. Schizophrenia - Schizophrenia 6. Glum - Giallieni I know, you look at the track listing and say that's pretty good. Allow me to pee all over your brand new Air Force Ones. My urination begins with the fact that this is far from essential. Why? Firstly, the vast majority of us already have the most potent tracks numerous times over. Second, it's partially mixed in places thereby shortening the best ones. Gotta be able to fit 12 tracks on a disc somehow right? I think Javelin was well aware of this. Still it is a nice trip down the old school hallway, much the same way it's nice being interrupted by your girlfriends parents when you've almost sealed the deal. What the hell, they were supposed to be gone all weekend, but typical Bill, thought he left the coffee pot on. The great stuff you already know. Tipnotic is written by Infinity Project and it's not bad, short though it may be. Chinese Whispers might be the best Synchro track I've ever heard, but it's also rather short. For my money (didn't pay for this) the good stuff is on the ambient disc. Aside from Waterdrums, I've never heard any of these tracks. Orange is Didier (well didier or didn'tier, sorry old joke) and his track is a lovely mellow thing that I would like to hear while resting in a hammock on the beach. But don't swing me, I'll throw up. South is a floaty ambient composition ideal for dreaming. Schizophrenia was a drone piece that didn't do anything for me and Glum was some oscillating nonsense. Like I said, not essential by any stretch, but I felt worth it for never before heard ambient. Would I pay for it? Uhh, no. Do you know how much music I have on the drives? Gotta downsize, so retreads...they gotta go. Mdk
  9. Hi everyone. I've been really hesitant to share some of the stuff I work on in my spare time, but I think this is the first track I've made that I am satisfied with enough to post here. So here it goes... Any suggestions would be welcome. Turn up your volume a bit since it's obviously not mastered properly. I hope someone might enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfW9CoHPfsc
  10. Artist: Adrenalin Drum Title: The Israel EP Label: Spirit Zone Recordings Date: 1995 1. Harddome 2. The Hypnotiser 3. Harddome "I can hear myself. I feel so exposed." I came across this and it piqued my interest because I recently reviewed a couple of Adrenalin Drum releases in an effort to clean out my hard drive. X-perimental Goa was kept , but alas Engine had to go. So this is Har-El Prussky in his prime I suppose with three tracks. Harddome on Side A bored me, but things got better with the Hypnotiser. The full length mix of Harddome is easily the best on the EP. While not mad with melodic spirals, it's dark and pumping and thoroughly old school sounding. I could see people tripping to this. So, not bad. Mdk
  11. Hello, this is my new melodic/morning organic Goa trance track. Enjoy.
  12. Artist: Zamurai & Apatheya Title: Goa With Attitude EP Label: ACP Records Date: July, 2012 1. Who Knew - Apatheya 2. Everybody's A DJ - Zamurai By now (if not years earlier) people should know who Filipe Santos is and that he seems to make quality goa trance so effortlessly that it bores him. Maybe it does. Maybe we are just sheep and he's a good sheep herder. But his label pumps out EP's that I cannot help scooping up. Here he is with Simon Palmieri who himself released and EP earlier this summer called At Full Goa Force - Chapter One (review here). So guess what you get here? Goa head, I'll wait. So bad. No guesses needed as I'm sure you figured out it's goa trance. Simon crafts a racy (settle down) track that has leads that move like your sister's pet hamster that hit the jogging wheel cause he felt fat. Filipe's Everybody is a DJ (I'm guessing that is his shot at all the producers of unoriginal new school goa trance) is another quality production that just has lead after lead to make you dance. So for whatever passes for money these days on that sheep pasture across the Atlantic it only costs one of them. Well spent people. ACP Records Mdk
  13. Artist: Sylica-X Title: Research EP Label: ACP Records Date: October, 2012 1. Re-Search 2. Hypoxis Talking sh*t is an art form. There are plenty of people who talk a good game but don't or won't back it up. Take this heifer for example. If we ignore the fact that she could be distracted by a box of twinkies I'd still be willing to bet that you could unwrap that gun and it would be made of chocolate. Bang bang. You've got diabetes. I'm not sure if this artist is Filipe Santos (can you blame me, he seems to have a new project monthly), but even if it isn't him, it's being put out on his label. He has been releasing quality original goa trance for what seems like a decade and a lot of that for free. He charges for some of it, but you know what...he's earned it. I have never listened to his music and said this sucks. Never happened. I won't go into all his aliases (go to Discogs), but his projects are different than a lot of the goa around today. He consistently tells artists to take risks and not follow the same mold. And he backs it up. But mistake his originality for poor quality at your own peril. He has an old school sound that few can duplicate. Re-Search swings the 303 like Thor's hammer and settles into a good groove instead of coming out with guns blazing. Instead of force feeding you melodies he introduces them until you attain a comfort level and then it's on to the next one. Now don't get me wrong(ly). I love melodies and stacks of them. But when you get a Filipe Santos production it's always something to look forward to. So if he talks a little smack about doing something different it's ok to listen to him. He knows what he's talking about. And he doesn't need a chocolate gun to back it up. ACP Records Mdk
  14. Artist: Adrenalinn Drum Title: X-Perimental Goa (A Higher State of Trance) Label: Unnatural Recordings Date: 1997 1. Behind The Hills 2. God Mountain 3. Pulstatic 4. Shadowland 5. Desert Fly 6. Acid Dog 7. The Electric Sheep 8. Trip To Zagreb 9. Terbulance "All the people on this Earth are truly one." Hey! What's with the f*cking rhino? Har-El Prussky again with his first album as Adrenalinn Drum. The extra N is for nephew I got this. "Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike!" 1997 was an awesome year for goa trance with some of the greatest releases of the genre coming out during this time. Layers of melodies tumbling down the spiritual mountainside engulfing you in a warm state of trance. If you were expecting more of the same than you've obviously not been working on your reading skills. It says right there in the title, X-Perimental Goa. And that's what it is. Yeah it's goa, but maybe a little outside the box. Now I have been very critical of Har-El and the California Sunshine project because for me he makes bad, derivative, generic music. But back in 97? He was one of the many lords of the realm. Even CS was hitting on all cylinders. Behind the Hills opens with rather sparse production compared to other goa (Etnica, Pleiadians, Transwave...pretty much everybody) but it opens the door to God Mountain which is pretty good with a more expected type of goa feel. The quasi insect sound echoes throughout which I thought was a nice touch. After that he starts to experiment with sounds and phrases you will either love or hate. Like the sliced scream on Pulstatic. Shadowland is a 10 minute progressive goa rambler that hits in all the right places and he knows how to wield a 303. Desert Fly has a little hitch in its giddy up that makes it funky, but it gets a little boring. Not bad though. On the other side of the coin is the most boring track Acid Dog. Virtually no change with its bleeps and bloops. It's like aural Ambien. The Electric Sheep comes in second as the most boring. It uses I believe the Neil Armstrong moon sample as it drones on endlessly. Now everyone loves a Trip to Zagreb. Not the track, the destination as I hear it's lovely this time of year. The track is another without variation, but mercifully it is half the length as the previous two. Closing things out with the downtempo Terbulence it borrows the sample from Zagreb and is very futuristic with loads of cold computer sounds against warm pads. Clear glass with colorful liquids come to mind as the dr. tells me to relax. While I don't think this can crack the top 50 goa albums of all time, I don't believe it to be a throwaway either. There are some good tracks here, but not enough to make this a must have. Too many tracks travel with blinders on and don't deviate from the straight and narrow. Mdk
  15. After long recovery from the open chest surgery, Angry Dwarf is slowly returning to his cave to finish up stories that he had started! 16. Artist: Travma Title: 303 From God EP Label: Ezel-Ebed Records Date: May, 2012 1. TraWorm.Win32 Virus 2. Maximum Pain 3. 303 From God Hmmmm.....some new guy. Never heard of him. Sure does have an elevated opinion of himself. 303 from God you say? Guess I'll check it out. TraWorm.Win32Virus- Oh sh*t, did I just download a virus to my computer? I did didn't I? Waitaminute! What effect will this have on the TB of porn on the hard drive? I'll have to worry about that later because BOOM! he blows the doors off with a Nitzhogoa stormer. Leads twist and curl at high velocity. It only knows on way and that is straight ahead. Want some variation? Hippie. Travma's not here to tell you a bed time story. He's here to punch you in the face. On a side note Agneton said, "Mother f*cker that was fast!" Maximum Pain- This is a great track without losing any of its momentum. Spinning melodies don't have me feeling any pain. 303 From God- Finally the mystical 303 shows up! Bow down before your master! This thing infiltrates every pore giving you superpowers! It's razor sharp and aggressive the way that only goa trance can be. Nasty! Ummm....it's goa. It's Travma. How are you not getting this? Beatspace Digital Mdk

  19. Hello, What software/hardware/gear would/do you use for live performance acts? Goa Trance uses so many different instruments playing different melodies and effects at the same time, most of the job has do be done by a machine! What do you use for live P.A? How do you work? Please share your tips, thoughts, and experience! Thanks,
  20. So the last thing i remember is launching FL Studio yesterday, then i saw a ray of bright light coming towards me. I woke up few minutes ago with my soundcloud page open and a new track appeared. Also my butt aches alittle... Could someone investigate? http://soundcloud.com/qbns/qbns-cosmic-narwhal

  23. Artist: Afgin Title: Ray of Light EP Label: Premium Music Date: August, 2012 1. Ray Of Light (140 BPM) 2. Keep Moving Forward (Tribute To Rocky) (140 BPM) 3. Soul Uplifter (140 BPM) 4. When You're Gone (137 BPM) "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there if you let it." I think this is Dwayne Wade from A Different World, but my friend believes it to be Arsenio. Whoever it may be he is right. This is some good ass cheese. Afgin is the man who has released a bunch of free music as well as the uber bright and shiny Astral Experience. At least it's one Israeli making goa. *looks askew at Astral Projection or the husks of what they used to be* "I don't care, get the f*ck back in that corner! Don't give me that look! Do you even know what you did?" Afgin delivers the brightest goa trance around no question, but 2009 was over 3 years ago. As Janet said, "What have you done for me lately?" These days he's been crafting a trilogy of music EP's with this one being the final chapter. First let me tell you that I love a lot of music. Love it. Light, dark, happy, fast sad...whatever. It cannot always be dark or you'll end up having a goth child that f*cking hates you and will start following the stars of Twilight around like they were the Grateful Dead. So what Afgin delivers is pure positivity and light. True, it is far removed from Astral Experience and cannot even see Old is Gold in the rearview. Anymore uplifting and I would be looking down on Jesus, and well that's apropos because Afgin could pass for the big guy in a few photos I've seen. But it's f*cking beautiful. If it was a chick I would try to awkwardly ask it out on a date. Absolutely the most delicious melodic cheese that a trancer could ask for. You can hear every note and every sound. Nothing is hidden and it bares its soul. It's like a sunshine enema that puts a permanent smile on your face. Calling the first two tracks goa trance might be a stretch to some, but he still wields his euphoric kung-fu. Does it get any cheesier than the sample in the tribute to Rocky? Life lessons from Rocky. Reread that sentence again, because it might just destroy the internet. This is the same guy that told a guy who was threatening to blow up a supermarket that it was ok because he didn't shop there. If you didn't love the movie Cobra, then I cannot talk to you. But he's right. Life is tough and it's not about getting knocked down, but getting up. If the first two tracks were cheesy and fluffy, then the last two are off the cotton candy scale. But that's the thing about Afgin. He's got talent and it doesn't come off as cheese, but rather the soft caress of a lover who means what she says. It's about sharing a sunrise with that special someone, dancing on a melodic carpet until your mouth hurts from smiling so much. Let's face it, the world we live in ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It sucks sometimes. Hell, I've got Angela Lansbury charging me $1200 for a piece of sh*t table cause she can't find a f*cking decimal point. So yeah, it ain't all sunshine and rainbows. But thanks to Afgin, this is what it would look like if it were. Ektoplazm Mdk
