  1. Cosmicleaf Records, Feb. 2019. 1. Nomadic Universality 09:32 2. At The Gates Of The Beloved 09:21 3. White Dwarfs 08:34 4. Low Sun Tribe 12:35 5. Muses Fly Above Capri 11:02 6. Cloud Break 09:48 7. Phobia 10:52 Project from Greece, delivering 7 downtempo tracks. All tracks have a 4/4 beat and are danceable material, ideal for the early morning or late afternoon. A nice surprise overall! The sound is very well produced, nicely polished, and while most of it is on the chill progressive side, the highlight for me is Low Sun Tribe, it has a technoish and tribal vibe that gives a very hypnotic and entrancing result. The whole album is not very psychedelic so it should please the lovers of the relaxing and dreamy trance sound. Recommended. Rating: 7/10. 3. Avaris - “The Forgotten Language” Axios Records proudly presents “The Forgotten Language”, a powerful downtempo psychedelic album of Avaris, a side project of one of the most established psychedelic trance artists today, Archaic. The central idea behind this album is a return to ancient myth that tells us about essential unity of all creatures: human beings, animals, trees and other non-human entities... According to this myth, all living beings could communicate with each other and as such celebrate the unified field of existence and meaning. This is the sacred language that allows a shaman to communicate with animal spirits and other spiritual entities. As a contemporary echo Avaris’ album offers us a translation of this language into a unique musical masterpiece that defines a true shamanic psychedelic experience, bringing us back to the roots and the unity with all beings and most importantly, with each other. 1. 4. Hi everyone, psynews. I am creating this post to some information about purchase. I have a lot of interest in starting my collection of physical CDs, but there is a problem ... today the current recorder sites only offer digital midia for purchase and download So I approach you lunatic Freaks by PSYTRANCE to absorb information from collectors. Could you tell me trustworthy and quality sites for buying my favorite physical CDs and artists?
  5. Reflections of memories and dreams, all those stories and good hopes... Close your eyes and recall some of those mystical moments that are left in the distant past ... Everything has changed, except the silent, still witness within us. Experience of change is only possible on the canvas of the stillness, as well as the light is only real on the canvas of the dark. The change itself, with all the fractal worlds of all possible, always changing forms, is like a tiny little invisible dot on the surface of the vast omnipresent land of stillness. When you realize this, you're free. There's nothing to fear, nothing to lose, nothing to get, and a lot to give. You're free to give. You give, you live.... Do you remember? This album is dedicated to those mystical moments when we're not looking from the mind, when we are what we really are, like if there's no time. If it takes time, it's the mind. If it takes no time, it's Nirvana... Peace. Released March 6, 2019 Album art by Daniel Spacek. Bandcamp - https://ambientium.com/album/city-of-memories

  10. [ Artist: E-Mantra Title: Serenity Ep Label: Melusine Records Date: October, 2018 1. Serenity 2. Serenity II 3. Balada Haiducului 4. Shadows Picture of a forest. Scary font for artist name. Dude...did you just make a darkpsy/forest ep? Narrator Morgan Freeman: Although capable of many things a darkpsy album to this date has not been attempted. Thank...you narrator Morgan Freeman. Nope this is a brief downtempo ep released by his own label even though everything screams forest music. Actually according to the blurb it was created in a remote cabin deep in the Romanian forest. Sure nothing scary about that sentence whatsoever. Serenity brings his tell tale drifting melodies over top of head nodding beats. Smooth. Part II picks up the pace, but was less introspective. Balada is a slow trudge with a melancholy presence but easily my favorite. Shadows as the name implies is the darkest track yet and I don't know how he completed it while in that Romanian forest. Hope he worked in the daytime. Playing this at night in the forest is some Evil Dead sh*t. All in all nothing earth shattering, but good, consistent, E-mantra downtempo goodness. 11. Artist: Zen Baboon & (I think) Zen Racoon Title: Collected Label: Baboon Clinic Release: November 8, 2018 Tracklist:- 1. Chaotic Shapes (Collected Mix) 2. Keep Positive (Remaster) 3. Love Road (Live Edit) 4. Chocolate Sushi (Summer Edit) 5. Fataca Estalaris (Interlude) 6. Baby Bombay (Remaster) 7. Agora (Live Edit) 8. Disjointed life (Boom Edit) 9. Summer Somewhere (Live Edit) 10. Best Days (Tribal Mix) Fresh from the Baboon clinic comes a collection of tracks from previous comps that are yet to reach the dubby pages of Bandcamp. The mixing with organic natural sounds means you have the soft chirrups of birds in your ears while thick dubbed beats surround and carry you away. The only track I've heard before was the original Love Road on the Hommega 20 year comp. With no other knowledge of their works I can say I really did enjoy the experience and will be playing parts of this album to wake up, to bed and for my next autumn walk. In fact if I had to walk through an autumn park for the rest of my life this is probably the soundtrack I would want drifting into my ears. Some tracks are slow and sensual like Chaotic Shapes & Baby Bombay, while others have the full strength of psychedelic downtempo driving them forward like Disjointed Life and plenty of tracks give you both as you'll notice in Summer Somewhere. If darker ominous tracks are your thing then I'm sure you'll enjoy listening to Keep Positive will help rough your positive anti-brooding personality up in just the most enjoyable way. The Love Road (Live Edit) has some extra zips and zaps throughout it that make it different enough from the original and Chocolate Sushi somehow morphs into a track with elements of reggae riddim. Whether its house influenced pulsing songs or silky layers designed to drift you away to calmer places the Baboon Clinic has you covered. All in all every track here is distinct and enjoyable it's hard to pick favourites as a lot of songs are quite apart form one another but the ones I mentioned are definitely up there. Oh did I mention that it is 'Name Your Price'. We call that a bargain where I'm from. https://zenbaboon.bandcamp.com/album/collected

Please tell me it's weed? I could really use some weed right now. Yes indeed just gather your girlfriends, spark an owl, and just chill to the uber laid back sounds of the Russian duo Koan. With this digital release you can just feel the stress of the day evaporate. This is my definition of chill. Slow, relaxed beats with atmospheric pads interspersed with electronic flutterings. As the title implies, it's all very serene with chopped pads and layered percussion. The mellowness cannot be overstated and you just might have to scrape yourself off the ceiling. 15. It's been six years since the demiurgic duo of shamans, better known as Shamanizm Parallelii introduced their creative work on our label with Psychedelic Dreams album. In the meantime they released two more full-lenght albums with Neogoa and Ae Records (The World In A Drop Of Rain in 2014. and Tales From Colored Tepee in 2016.) and gained attention within psychill circles and community. Now in 2018. they're back with 11 freshly crafted tracks on their 6th studio album - Blue Lizard. Music of Pavel and Arkadii is distinct, but yet very challenging to define with one word, especially on Blue Lizard where they improved their own game of pushing it into the unknown. Sometimes it's oozing with joyful psyrock riffs and late '60s nostalgia, sometimes it explores strange sounds and serves as a soundtrack to deep and immense space. But most of the time it's colorful and trippy downtempo music with a lot of heart and passion. Available in all digital formats here: https://neogoarecords.bandcamp.com/album/blue-lizard Tracklist: 01 - The Blue Lizard 02 - Coyote 03 - Vibrations Of Transformed Consciousness 04 - The Last Trip Of The Ashes Down The Ganges 05 - Apocalypse On Time 06 - In Search Of No Name Captain 07 - Trip Zone 08 - The Mechanical Side Of Time 09 - Dogs, Ghosts And Lots Of Curry 10 - Radio Asia 11 - The White Shaman All tracks written and produced by: Pavel Yashan (vocals, guitars and lyrics) and Arkadii Tronets (synths, drums, mixing and mastering). 16. Artist: Solar Fields Title: Ourdom Label: Sidereal Records Date: March, 2018 1. Burning View 2. Shifting Nature 3. Into The Sun 4. Forgiveness 5. Mountain King 6. Wave Cascade 7. Moving Lines 8. A Long Tailed Bird Whispered 9. Joshua's Shop 10. A Green Walk 11. Parallel Universe 12. The Daylight Carrier 13. Siren Song of Glass Some artists are so deeply connected with a genre that they essential become the face (sound?) of that genre. There are many artist who make downtempo music, but say the name Solar Fields and you understand what you're going to get. Magnus Birgersson from Sweden has been doing this for quite some time and his albums are markers in the chronological history of downtempo music. Any artist would be happy with a genre defining album to their credit yet each new offering from Magnus seems to be that way. His latest however doesn't leave me with the same awe that his previous albums had. That said, I find myself being carried away with his descriptive soundpicture layered with many details ranging from the gentle flutter of electronics to the powerful and majestic. The listing says there are 13 tracks, but I only hear one, deeply immersed in a flowing menagerie that consciously moves from uplifting to a introspective mindstate. Into the Sun is a distinctly positive and hopeful march into the many wonders this world possesses as Forgiveness almost impossibly slowly illustrates the freeing power of letting go. As the tracks seamlessly meld into each other Mountain King is a lengthy almost 15 minute wonder that doesn't establish its identity until well past the 5 minute mark. A progressive rambler that takes flight gently and creates a floating atmosphere bookended by a delicate ambient intro and outro. Due to the length of it Wave Cascade feels like and ambient interlude before another more aggressive and less appealing Moving Lines kicks in. Joshua's Shop gets back to the positivity of previous tracks, while Parallel Universe could be the darkest track on the album. The Daylight Carrier is more aligned with the early tracks of the album and he closes with the beatless ambient of Siren Song. Mastered by Robert Elster the music sounds fantastic further adding to the experience. As I've mentioned with previous Solar Fields albums I feel his strength is the downtempo arena and less when he employs the progressive stomping. His music just seems to breathe and stretch more with a slower bpm. This album could've easily been a disjointed collection of tracks in the hands of a less skilled electronic musician, but he manages to keep things connected by building bridges between tracks instead of walls. So I would say it's a great journey with a few minor flaws. Solar Fields Bandcamp Sidereal (digipak)
  17. Artist: Argus Title: Field of Dreams Label: Altar Records Date: February, 2018 1. Long Gone 2. Glaciers of Oblivion 3. Followed By Light 4. Wind Song 5. Field of Dreams 6. Untouchable Mind 7. Ocean of Causes 8. Under the Mountain 9. Nemrak It's Saturday and I've only had one cup of coffee so what better way to chill than to listen to some, uh...chill. Argus is Branko Stojiljkovic from Serbia and for my money one of the best downtempo artists today. His style is drifting, melodic, and so welcoming. I haven't heard his album Architect of Time (my fault), but thoroughly enjoyed Deep Water and Beyond Sight. Right out of the gate with Long Gone he sets you up in your favorite lazy boy with ethereal vocals and a mellow groove. His style of slowly exploring the sonic space is delicious as the ear hunts for new sounds. His movement into and out of breaks is seamless and provides a stunning experience. The music vacillates between cold and warm, but always maintains a thoughtfulness or a melancholy tone. Tracks like Wind Song and Field of Dreams get into that mid-tempo style, but I don't believe that's where his strength is. It's when he stretches a track out, let's it take it's time and allows all the pieces to come together when he wields his greatest power in my opinion. A very good album that was perfect for contemplation between cups of joe. Altar Records Bandcamp Psyshop
  18. Artist: Perfect Blind Title: Replika Label: Self-Released Date: April, 2018 01. The Doctor (Dr.Who Theme Cover) 02. Metropolis (Kraftwerk Cover) 03. Dark Train (Underworld Cover) 04. Immobilized (Front Line Assembly Cover) 05. Replicant (Covenant Cover) 06. Oxygene (Jean Michel Jarre Cover) 07. Dej Mi (Croatian folk song - V2) 08. Sheyn (Haustor Cover) 09. Our Darkness (Anne Clark Cover) 10. A Forest (The Cure Cover) 11. It's No Good (Depeche Mode Cover) 12. End Titles (Vangelis Cover) Perfect Blind (also Deimos) is Igor Čeranić from Croatia and if you do not know who he is stop feeling sorry for yourself and do your homework. This is a fantastic electronic musician that leans towards the darker more industrial side of psytrance. Didn't catch his latest Stratum album? It's so f*cking good. Moody, atmospheric, industrial paradise. That said the guy is a wizard when it comes to electronic music having stretched his programming muscles with downtempo and goa trance music as well as the industrial stuff. With this release he takes a bunch of songs that had some strong personal meaning to him and puts his own spin on them. You know those moments right? First kiss. Ugh, we arrested Michael Jackson for less. First date. I'm not going to lie to you. This might come back to be a problem later. And who could forget the first time you got arrested and the po po wouldn't take you to the bathroom. Good times. So he made a cover album with more modern sounds and an industrial sound. As he himself said it can hardly be classified as Perfect Blind material, but he had a good time doing it so who the f*ck cares. Most of the songs I had never heard so in that respect it made me hit YouTube to see what he did. I have always been a fan of his work and his industrial downtempo version of Dej Mi was very appealing. It's not something I can listen to very frequently, but I applaud him for doing something different that makes him happy. If I made a cover album with songs that were the soundtrack to my life you would think I was a pre-pubescent little girl. Take...on...me! Perfect Blind Bandcamp

  22. Artist: Asura Title: Atmosphere Label: Altar Records Date: April, 2017 1. Frontiers (Final Mix) 2. Always (LS Vintage Edit) 3. The Bhaktas - Pitre Purus (Asura Remix) 4. Eternal Sunshine (Ambient Mix) 5. Le Souffle Du Vent (Second Mix) 6. Deva Delay 7. Reze (Unreleased Version) 8. The Savers 9. Interlude Sky (Remix) Doesn't add up. Another titanic project in psychedelic ambient and downtempo music has seen a bit of roster turnover and is now the solo project of Charles Farewell. Damn, that's a cool name. Even with the departures however this project attempts to continue where the previous album Radio Universe left off. Always leaning toward the dramatic and symphonic this album does so in places. Opening with a very majestic remix of Frontiers it calls to mind a soundtrack for a major motion picture in the making. Vast and lush. The uptempo Ambient Mix of Eternal Shunshine has resounding percussive booms that demand attention while Le Souffle Du Vent has a groovy swagger that I keep coming back to. Reze is another uptempo effort that combines exotic vocals with worldly instruments and a funky groove. Closing things out is a final uptempo track and it leaves me scratching my head and wondering when Asura became a progressive act. As I mentioned this is more of an uptempo or even progressive trance album than a downtempo one. This project has ventured down this road before, but I didn't think he would make an album like this. I prefer the ambient side way more as I found his uptempo stuff decent, but fairly unremarkable. The majority of this album doesn't contain the depth or gravitas I come to expect. So while pretty good, I found my mind wandering while listening to it. As a matter of fact I wouldn't hesitate to say it's the weakest Asura album to date. Altar Bandcamp Psyshop
  23. Artist: Carbon Based Lifeforms Title: Derelicts Label: Leftfield Records Date: October, 2017 1. Accede 2. Derelicts 3. Clouds 4. Nattvasen 5. Equilibrium 6. Path of Least Resistance 7. 780 Days 8. ~42° 9. Rayleigh Scatterers 10. Dodecahedron 11. Loss Eversion 12. Everwave Swedish super duo Carbon Based Lifeforms is back with an album of new material and I've gotta tell you it's superb. Like further cementing their legacy superb. In an interview with Inside the Rift CBL say, "We probably spent way more time on each individual track for this one than any of the previous albums, partly due to the fact that it’s almost entirely done with hardware instruments as opposed to the older tracks which used a lot of software synthesizers." The music is smooth and mellow with acid touches interspersed amidst dreamy layers (Accede, Equilibrium, 780 Days, Dodecahedron). Sometimes warm with welcoming kicks and other times frigid with galaxy spanning pads this music positions itself for deep reflection. Clouds is a reve-inducing beatless journey through the sky while Natvassen (Swedish for "Night Creatures") tells the eerie story of a lost soul encountering and then living with friendly creatures in a forest. The tracks are fairly brief compared to psychedelic music standards and that keeps themes explored from getting stale. The album moves with stomping and grand downtempo marches sprinkled with beatless ambient atmospheres. The entire flow of this album works flawlessly right through Everwave, a drone-ish and lengthy beatless closer. Now admittedly I haven't heard a great amount of downtempo this year, but so far this is tops for me. CBL Bandcamp - Sold Out

  25. Artist: Aural Planet Title: Lightflow Label: Silver Shark Date: 1997 Plunging 1. Intro 2. Pipe Life 3. Head Dream Machine 4. The Motion Image of Pleasure 5. The Deep 6. Blue Water Cave Emerging 7. Have You Ever Been 8. Transphere 9. Synapse 10. M This polish group which is now no longer produced some high quality music during their tenure most notably the classic goa album Part Seconde (which actually came after this one). It's a project that was all over the map electronically, including this their debut. There are plenty of nature sounds that really put you right into pools of water with buzzing insects. With that in mind the music itself is relaxing and smooth exploring a lot of corners. Sometimes it's highly melodic and sometimes it's creative noodling mixing environmental sounds with a futuristic atmosphere. Having said that it's not the best downtempo music I've heard by far and as such I wouldn't label it a classic. Enjoyable.
