  1. Artist: Zebbler Encanti Experience Title: Psychic Projections Label: Gravitas Recordings Date: December, 2012 01 - Psychic Projections (feat. Dante Bucci) (140 BPM) 02 - Quetzalcoatl (101 BPM) 03 - Totem (140 BPM) 04 - Temple (feat. Jason Hann) (140 BPM) 05 - Data Mind (110 BPM) 06 - Prophetic Interlude (feat. Hannah Thiem) (140 BPM) 07 - Exploding Glowstick (110 BPM) 08 - Quetzalcoatl (Willy Whompa Remix) (150 BPM) 09 - ZEEDM (145 BPM) 10 - Quetzalcoatl (Woulg Remix) (137 BPM) 11 - Profit (140 BPM) 12 - Profit (Ishe Remix) (140 BPM) Don't let this slip by you without giving it a listen. Zebbler is a Boston based duo with their debut album and their style is slow and juicy. Well, sometimes. Taking elements of dub and glitch and marrying them with tribal like melodies in an unholy union of interesting stuff. Keeping the tracks brief is smart and doesn't let you get bored with what they're doing. Some of this sh*t is as funky as a Radioactive Sandwich. See what I did there? It can move at a snail's pace or it can be rapid fire, oftentimes in the same track. Quetzalcoatl sets you up with with some funky downtempo before it erupts in a gigantic crunchy electronic orgy. And then there's the dubstep. Oh the dubstep. And there is a lot of it. Dubstep has been called many things, but I describe it like putting a robot penis through a pencil sharpener. Because I don't listen to it regularly I don't mind the dubstep. I find it fairly fresh and unpredictable. But let's be honest...tracks like the Willy Whompa remix are a heading waiting to happen. Just know if you hat dubstep this release won't be for you. There is still way more to enjoy as it is a great mix of melancholic melodies as well as polar opposites in sonic texture. It comes off sounding rich and lush when they bend sounds to their will. The Woulg remix is like when the terminators legs break off and he has to move in slow and sometimes fast motion. Terminator 2 reference. Score. The harsh and abrasive sounds in Exploding Glowstick hide the gentle ambient like someone getting screamed over. And that's where I think they excel when they combine genres. A whole album of electronic gang rape is exhausting and painful. That's not for me. That's for India. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  2. Artist: Tron Sepia Title: Weird Fishes & Other Stories Label: Fish N Trips Records Date: October, 2012 1 - Flange (70 BPM) 2 - Factory (70 BPM) 3 - Cuttlefish (65 BPM) 4 - Abyss (70 BPM) 5 - Factory (Video Edit) (70 BPM) 6 - Abyss (VIP) (70 BPM) O Canada...our home and native land. My neighbors to the north have produced quite the varied album here. Downtempo grooves and dubstep rhythms go hand in hand with the smooth female vocals and melodic pads. Delicious slow motion electronic stretching as if I were Neo dodging bullets from the agents. Those bass drops hum and oscillate as eerie piano melodies drift ethereally out of reach. Mechanical and spiritual all at once this is electronic tai chi. This is the music I want to listen to when I finally get to hike the high peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Highly recommended Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

FREE DOWNLOAD: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/turlitava-2 Since the first highly acclaimed Turlitava compilation was released in September 2011, Darko Kolevski, aka Anub1s, has worked very hard to create a worthy sequel. 6. Artist: Various Title: Tempo Syndicate Label: Sentimony Records Date: September, 2012 01 - Boggy Elf - Dream Of Ashvattha (In) (80 BPM) 02 - ShizoLizer Gin - Kinder Pingui (115 BPM) 03 - Hypnotriod - The Sleep Detector (125 BPM) 04 - Unusual Cosmic Process - Insignificant Information (104 BPM) 05 - Flooting Grooves - Psydeburn (124 BPM) 06 - Irukanji - Ayalla (125 BPM) 07 - Sygnals - Among Others (110 BPM) 08 - Senzar - Nature Moves (121 BPM) 09 - Daoine Sidhe - Mindslipses (127 BPM) 10 - Wizack Twizack - Lejon (130 BPM) 11 - Primordial Ooze - Trial (120 BPM) 12 - Spectrum Vision - Time Out Man (Out) (120 BPM) Compiled by Irukanji he delivers 12 tracks that traverse the boundaries of several genres. From the clunky downtempo sound of Dream of Ashvattha to the noisy and very long Insignificant Information. Alas, I'm not thrilled with the result. All of the tracks draw from some techno inspiration and at times become too garbled for their own good. There was potential in a lot of them with dark effects and rumbly basses, but they seemed to just veer into aimless territory. Kinda like me when I'm in Victoria's Secret. Wandering around, not really doing anything and afraid to touch everything. I kept waiting for the interesting turn that never came. Reminded me of the minimal days. Lejon from Wizack was the lone bright spot for me. But that guys crazy. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

  8. Tracklist: 01 - Lotus Sutra feat. Melissa Arcuri - Scandanavian Sunset (98 BPM) 02 - Kataphasis - Chest Pressure (97 BPM) 03 - Ascension - Still Water Bubbles (98 BPM) 04 - Synthetic Sunrise - Psyberian Fields (77 BPM) 05 - Tuval S - I am (80 BPM) 06 - Oxya - Hey Bello (86 BPM) 07 - Twin Shape - 45 (94 BPM) 08 - Said & Mat Harris - Hypnogogia (82 BPM) 09 - Sanathana - Chandama (76 BPM) 10 - 7 Lunas & Nykronds - Annik (100 BPM) "As we drift into the altered states of conciousness of the dream world, our brain wave patterns lengthens and slows down, changing from beta to alpha, and finally theta. During these stages, we can experience what is known as "Hypnogogic" imagery, a series of vivid pictures or surreal imagery that bears little or no relation to waking memories. The imagery doesn't have the narrative quality of most dreams, but consists of a series of shifting and seemingly unconnected pictures that appear as it from nowhere; an animal, a face or a figure, an eye, a swirling rainbow of colours - the variety is infinite. This state, also known as "hypnogogia", occurs in situations where the brain wave pattern slows down such as in daydreams, meditation, and deep concentration. Through training and discipline, some people are able to enter these states at will, and certain plants and herbs have been used to assist the dreamer's entry into a trance-like state. While visions, hallucinations and trance-like states are not the same as a sleep-induced dream, they represent a dream-like experience where the boundaries between normal waking life and another dimension dissolve and merge. In many traditional cultures, the ability to enter a trance conciously and safely is a skill that is cultivated for the good of the wider community. The role of the dreamer is to travel between worlds in search of a vision that can assist himself or advise his ror her people." Wiquid Liquid Records presents a nice variety in the wide spectrum of Downtempo and Chill out music (Ambient, Psydub, Psychill, Downtempo psy, and elements of world) from new and also well known artitst from all over the world. 9. Artist: Metaphorical Cloud Title: Morphing Label: Flying Woofer Records Date: July, 2011 1 - Imagination Bay (120 BPM) 2 - Cenosis (120 BPM) 3 - Gardens (70 BPM) 4 - Morphing (101 BPM) 5 - Sphere (103 BPM) 6 - Substance (99 BPM) 7 - Quartz (120 BPM) 8 - Psyche (70 BPM) 9 - Backward (68 BPM) 10 - Aerobios (107 BPM) 11 - Thenaria (62 BPM) Flying Woofer Records? Never heard of them, but I might start paying attention now. This is Eduard Sionov from that huge landmass known as Russia with his debut. I don't know what's in the water over there (yes I do, it's Chernobyl goodness...where do you think zombies come from?) but there seem to be a lot of quality artists from that region. Which is great for the listening public. Eduard lavishes us with floating pads and electronic textures as the beat marches slowly on. Hard day at work? Put this on. Kids being a pain in the ass? Stick 'em in front of some Team Umizoomi and put this on. Utterly relaxing stuff that allows you to float amongst the puffy clouds. Sometimes those clouds smile back at you letting the sunshine through, and sometimes it's a bit overcast, so it's a good mix of brooding darkness and light. Recommended. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

  11. Artist: Ioon Title: The Ioonfinite Loop Label: Psyderweb Records Date: January, 2013 01 - Totally Let It Go (100 BPM) 02 - Ayamm (Innuendo Number 104) (104 BPM) 03 - Change The Nadi Flow (Guitars by DvZ) (100 BPM) 04 - Aes Drama (95 BPM) 05 - The Ioonfinite Loop (100 BPM) What a crazy name. On my screen it looks like Loon. How do you even pronounce it? Maybe you don't. Maybe it's like Prince and that stupid f*cking symbol. Probably not as flamboyantly gay as that. This is Johnny Gallucio from Italy with a deep trance EP. It's not downtempo or ambient and it isn't progressive, but simply music that does all those things without being put in box. While the title track was Ioonfinitely annoying, I really enjoyed Aes Drama? History here? Rejected demo? Stolen girlfriend? Tricked into going to a timeshare presentation? All we (and by we I mean me) can do is speculate. Nonetheless I liked the track with it's dreamy vibe and unfurling synths. If you told me Aes Dana did it I would easily believe you. He even has the tempo increase later in the track. Change the Nadi Flow is another track that makes you take notice as it unwinds layers of electronica amidst guitar riffs. Peaceful and reflective. For some reason it makes me think of Miami Vice where dramatic music was inserted with slow motion video for the most mundane actions. Definitely worth a listen. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  12. The Neogoa netlabel proudly presents Slow Tachyon, the cerebral debut of SoulQuark (Clément Laporte), a talented newcomer from France. The music of SoulQuark can be described as deep and emotional downtempo with strong influences from IDM and tribal music, all spiced up with enchanting vocals and cinematic atmospheres. 15. Artist: Various Title: The Return of Quetzalcoatl Label: Timewave Records Date: November, 2011 1 - ShaMANoiD - Walking In The Desert (100 BPM) 2 - Brujo's Bowl - Organic Structures (80 BPM) 3 - Digital Conception - The Mystical Quest (70 BPM) 4 - Iacchus - Frogspawn (120 BPM) 5 - Spunje - Mystic Forest (120 BPM) 6 - Normala - Dreamwards Again (110 BPM) 7 - Ascetic - Mutant (120 BPM) 8 - Progress - Spring Is Over (120 BPM) 9 - Iacchus - Flex (140 BPM) Quetzalcoatl- A Mesoamerican deity whose name means feathered serpent. Patron saint of knowledge and learning as well as the Aztec priesthood. And the patron saint of me sh*tting my pants if I ever saw it. Don't know about the feathers though. This album says it's the return. I wasn't aware that he went anywhere. And feathered serpent...serpent dictates reptile and when was the last time you saw a reptile with feathers. Other than the bird it just ate. I know there were dinosaurs with feathers, but they evolved. Just sayin' stuff is open to interpretation. If you put something silly on what's supposed to be evil (like a serpent), doesn't that take the fear out of it? Vampire? Scary. Vampire in India? F*cking ridiculous. Walking in the Dessert- Where's the f*cking Bollywood! Funky and groovy? Yessir, it's got the authentic Indian sound with the dubby bass and sitar/tabla combo. Any closer to India and you'd be dodging cow sh*t. I think you're doing it wrong. Organic Structures- Brujo have you ever heard of a short track? I suppose it's gonna be what it's gonna be. He wants you to melt into this one. It's super slow with some wobbly bass and high speed percussion. The skittering effects are pretty cool, but I look up and I'm only halfway through. If I was high this would seem like 2 hours! Not bad, but went on for way too long. The Mystical Quest- Am I at the feet of the Himalayas? Mystical for sure as it slowly carves its way around the mountain. I'm pretty sure I'm still in my chair, but the time was 4:20 the last time I checked. Not kidding. All I can see are expatriated hippies with mismatched clothing and dirty feet. It's almost as long as the previous track, but it's not stuck on the same phrase for 5 minutes. Totally relaxing and mind opening. Bra-vo. Frogspawn- A little cheesy for my liking this ambient has some thunderous drums in its arsenal. But ah...hmmmm. That's about it. Mystic Forest- I like the catchy rhythm and the funk increases when the bass appears. But it doesn't make me think of a mystic forest. It makes me think of of this guy. Ain't nothin' mystical about that guy except how he keeps gettin' tail. Dreamwards Again- Yawn. Mutant- Double Yawn. You should enjoy listening to music right? Spring Is Over- Ok we need a little progress based on the last couple of tracks. Things slow down as this one is a thinkers track. Pensive, with real world instruments. Doesn't last though as it has an intermission where things speed up before it gets back to its laid back ways. Good stuff. Flex- Hey look, it's a balloon animal. This one flexes its psytrance muscles with a healthy breakbeat. Alas, like a roided out meathead above it has a tiny penis. I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth so thanks to all involved and Ekto for making this free. I felt that the Digital Conception and Progress tracks were head and shoulders above the rest. The others...I could take them or leave them. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  16. Artist: Various Title: Space Forming Vol. 2 Label: Gliese581C Date: January, 2011 1 - Disia - ...I Still Don't Know Who I Am (65 BPM) 2 - Den Wave - Earth (111 BPM) 3 - Hello Mellow - A Passage In Time (90 BPM) 4 - Tara Putra - Error In Babylon (74 BPM) 5 - Globular - Squabbling Gods (88 BPM) 6 - Unusual Cosmic Process - Mission X (115 BPM) 7 - Divided Harmonics - Exorcism (Wrong Mantra Remix) (110 BPM) 8 - Wylhelm - Bem Sol (110 BPM) 9 - In Orbit - On A Train To East Malwern (97 BPM) 10 - Hyperwind - OneFreeMan (80 BPM) 11 - Sport & Music - Pazzle (Original Mix) (128 BPM) Discogs tells me that this is from 2010, yet Ekto's release page says it's from 2011. "If you can't decide in one day...you can't decide." Gliese581C is a Russian netlabel that is a mainstay on Ektoplazm, releasing loads of quality music. This is the 2nd part of the Space Forming series with artists that have also put out EP's. Most of them anyway. What you get is floaty ambient and downtempo music in a bunch of styles. From the short glitchy break beat of Disia to the floating sound of Den Wave. And that's just the first two tracks. Dubby beats make you feel at home whether sipping a cool one on the beach or drifting above the Earth. The bass on Squabbling Gods is indeed a window rattler. And the manner in which Mr. Bennett manipulates the vocals in his tracks brings to mind the work of Shpongle. The sample in Mission X is tasty as are the goa elements. The rest of the tracks are pretty good, but nothing to make me stand on the rooftops and demand that you pay attention to this. But you should pay attention to this. Because it only costs your attention. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

  19. Artist: Atman Construction Title: Elysian Terraform Label: Liquid Seed Recordings Date: December, 2012 01 - Aventurescence (143 BPM) 02 - Parallax View (143 BPM) 03 - Solipsysm (135 BPM) Three things I know: One, the striking artwork is done by Paul Sargent Two, it's mastered by Colin Oood Bennun. And three, I have no idea who is the mind behind this project. So I can only assume it is aliens who are not ready to reveal themselves to us as of yet. And it sounds like what aliens might make. They take everything that they hear and put it into a track. Downtempo with glitchy effects as well as sounds that aren't from this planet. It can be aggressive and relaxing often within the same track. But don't think you're gonna take a nap with this one. It is outstandingly lush with layers of sonic goodness that can be noisy and then float worthy. Recommended. What the hell you got going over there Basilisk? Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  20. We are happy to annouce our collaboration EP with the awesome Globular! Get "Sorbet for the Soul" free from http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/radioactive-sandwich-globular-sorbet-for-the-soul Enjoy! 01 - Globular - Lemon (97 BPM) 02 - Radioactive Sandwich - Lengo (97 BPM) 03 - Radioactive Sandwich - Mango (95 BPM) 04 - Globular - Mamon (91 BPM) Sorbet For The Soul is a collaboration between Globular (U.K.) and Radioactive Sandwich (U.S.A.), two of Omnitropic‘s hottest downtempo and psychedelic dub acts. This project came about from the desire to combine their amazing talents to create a very special conceptual release. Each artist started with the same set of samples and built their tracks around those sounds. Globular cooked up Lemon while Radioactive Sandwich provided the tasty Mango. They then traded tracks and reinterpreted each others original track; Globular created Mamon from Mango and Radioactive Sandwich created Lengo from Lemon. The end result is a four track release that flows and blends seamlessly, every track containing flavors from the others, much like a tasty summer frozen treat. The artwork was provided by the insanely talented Sid Basu. Mastering by Radioactive Sandwich at Slicetwodio. Released by Omnitropic in 2013.
  21. Artist: Integer Title: Ventilation EP Label: Golden Orb Records Date: December, 2012 01 - Ventilation (100 BPM) 02 - Gurgle Dub (140 BPM) 03 - Knife & Spoon Dub (112 BPM) 04 - South & West (0 BPM) 05 - Ventilation (Operon Remix) (85 BPM) You can not be in a hurry listening to this. If you've got things to do, put on something fast paced. This is slow. Verrrrrry slow. Nod your head dubby stuff that I imagine if you were high would seem like 40 minute tracks. Ashley Hanson from Australia puts you under his spell with his 2nd release. Rumbly basses, beach front percussion, and soft synths make this perfect for a relaxing afternoon. The reverb is on high as it echoes far into the distance. And those basses....whew, window rattlers. There was one what the f*ck moment however. Exhibit A: South & West. Experimentally ambient sounds of a truck carrying sheep revving it's engine was wholly unnecessary and that sh*t went on for 9 minutes. But thank you I wondered what a 0 bpm track sounded like. Other than that waste of time, you've got some nice dub. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  22. Artist: Wolfen Technologies Title: Foreign Frequencies EP Label: None Date: January, 2013 1. Ancient Feelings 2. Keep on Flowing 3. Senses Because I'm voluntarily throwing money at Elias Gits, Anoebis, Psyshop, and Avatar I'm taking a look at our good friends over at Ektoplazm. Add to that my wife has discovered that bras from England fit better than from the US, I'm trying to save a few bucks. I decided to check this out because aside from the very interesting cover art this guy (Tom Chant) is from Wales. I spent a year attending the College of Swansea in which studying was not a priority. I mean it was, just not for me. This is a downtempo glitch menagerie that seems to move a lot faster than the bpm's dictate. Soft melodies over cool breakbeats while effects wreck shop as the beat goes on. The bass is deep and makes a chest shudder, but the synths are light and airy. Because the tracks are fairly short it is a nice digestible piece of electronica. Recommended. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  23. Artist: Various Title: Antenna Vol. 1 Label: Stargate Recordings Date: December, 2004 1. Ice Flow VIBRASPHERE 2. Twin Soul KAYA PROJECT 3. Iris Rotation AES DANA 4. Shimmer (piano version) PUFF DRAGON 5. Unhold from a renegade UNEXPLODED 6. Forest Bump DIGITAL MYSTERY TOUR 7. Observer OMNIMOTION 8. DevaBhanda (Tantric Laswell rmx) MAKYO 9. Velvet reptile SOLAR FIELDS Don't let the sh*tty and unimaginative cover fool you. Talk about mailing it in. There are some quality tracks here. Of course a few have been released before. For example Ice Flow by Vibrasphere was released on Selected Downbeats Vol. 1. I can't believe that project is no more. But I suppose they did about all you could do with their music. Iris Rotation by Aes Dana is of course on the Memory Shell album. But I knew I already had those. I wanted to see what the other tracks were like. Seb Taylor's Kaya Project had a female Indian vocal all the way through that annoyed the crap outta me. Puff Dragon is Steve Good also known as Double Dragon who gave us the Continuum album (as well as compiling this one). Shimmer is a slow dreamy crawl with piano because this is the piano version. It hums and oscillates so good luck getting me off this cloud. De-licious! Untold From a Renegade has a lengthy eerie opening before switching to a break beat style. It's smooth with long pads and a dark undercurrent. Nice Forest Bump was a bit of a clanky mess. Observer has a haunting guitar over a mid tempo beat. Just wish there was a little bit more to it. Still not bad. Devabhanda has all the world instruments you would expect with a nice break beat. Soothing for sure. A wonderful exotic combination. Like traveling to the Himalayas without leaving the house. This was a Solar Fields track I had never heard. There's a soft and gentle quality to the Ambient style dub that sounds very organic. Obviously not essential because the well known tracks are elsewhere, but there are plenty of really good ones here to suit your ambient/downtempo needs. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  24. Artist: Zymosis Album: Between Two Points Label: Altar Records One day 7:16 Awakening 7:34 Usual Miracle (Micky Noise and Alkan Rmx) 8:07 So Far, So Close 8:22 Path of Nocturnal 7:27 She 7:30 The Unexpected Visitor (Zymosis Rmx) 8:21 I'll Be Waitinf For You 7:51 Quiet Sadness 8:16 Forgotten Days 8:14 With the arrival of their new album Between Two Points, the Ukrainian compositors Zymosis propose a melodic journey through a psychedelic chill universe. Throughout all ten different tracks, the listener is brought to live perpetual luminous texture. Each unique tune presents a common background of emotional sounds and progressive, positive and shining compositions. The album is build like a fairy-tale from intense electronic tones at the beginning to organic and spiritual mood towards the end. One day: With a deep relaxing start, a track which rapidly evolves into intense psychedelics sonorities to later disappear in mellow bird's sounds and emotional piano ending. Awakening: A fast melodic tune which slowly develops 8-bits tones and explodes with frequencies of electric guitar sounds.
