  2. ::: E-MANTRA : Echoes from the Void ::: new album out now! :: PRESS RELEASE :: "Echoes from the Void" is the new opus from the master of psybient Emanuel Carpus aka E-Mantra. In this album Emanuel has pushed his ideas farther to generate greater depth within his newest creation. He set out to paint a story through spectral frequencies, beautiful vocals and wistful melodies. With our emotions invoked while listening to "Echoes from the Void," immediatly we see ourselves on the dance floor. Rising inside feeling unable to stand still because Emanuel's sound has enveloped you. Having the quality we have come to expect, you will find this album is filled with greater rolling basslines and builds to a faster bpm throughout the album. More so than his previous 3 psychill /GoaChill albums on Altar Records. Those who have come to know and enjoy the slower beats of classic E-Mantra style, will enjoy this album. It starts out gently in psychill, evolving ever so gradually onto more deeply progressive progressions. All of this being unique to E-Mantra as he continues to craft what inspires him, aka Night Hex nowadays, in the studio... Thank you E-Mantra for the chance to let us enter your single world of magic! Also available in 24Bits quality 20 W&P By Emanuel Carpus, Romania. 8. Artist: Kamainanda Title: Ancestors & Guardians Label: Merkaba Music Date: January, 2013 01 - Alchemy Resonance (88 BPM) 02 - The Portal (107 BPM) 03 - Panther Dreams (100 BPM) 04 - Moonlight Tango (100 BPM) 05 - Liberation (97 BPM) 06 - Time Travellers (97 BPM) 07 - Liquid Sunrise (85 BPM) 08 - Sadhu (85 BPM) 09 - Optimal Trajectstasy (83 BPM) 10 - Guardians Of Virtue (78 BPM) 11 - The Great Alignment (0 BPM) "We release...and let go. And something seems to take place." California Love! This guy based on the left coast invites you to shake your groove thing with his 2013 effort that is a mix of hip-hop beats, downtempo glitch, and dub. It's head nodding fun that manages to be smooth as an afternoon at the beach with an infinite amount of twists and turns. Gangster...yet stoner. The beats take center stage, but the melodies are nothing to sleep on either on tracks like Moonlight Tango. He closes with an epic ambient journey in The Great Alignment; full of tribal sounds, long pads, mysterious vocals and real world instruments. The production is so superbly clear it feels like your own private concert. After listening to trance music so intently it's good to shift gears and get a little funky. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  9. Artist: Hypnoxock Title: Rewritten By Shiva Label: Goa-Trance.com Date: February, 2014 1. On The Eve of the Revolt 2. No Time To Cry 3. Double Zero *stares intently. Sits back in chair and exhales deeply. Tilts head in concentration* Hypno... Hypnosh... Hypnozo... *shoves books off table angrily* F*ck! I can't do it. All I see is cock! F*cking cock! It's like some flamboyant Rorschach test! This duo from Spain is well accomplished. Their album Synthetic Resurrection was terrific and they're not shy about releasing free stuff over at Ektoplazm. With a short three track ep they open our ears to their goa sound. On the Eve of the Revolt is a delicious short intro that ripples with mystery. My only complaint was that it was too short. Homies bringing the downtempo like Ra. Not Time To Cry is your typically good goa track which goes into overdrive with the help of a well placed Leonidas sample. Double Zero is the same, but the break is absolutely fantastic. Some rich storytelling right here. Feel it. Still impressed with these guys. Their productions are always warm and vibrant. They breathe life into their music even if I can't pronounce their name. Welcome to the fray my friends. Beatport Mdk
  10. Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum i've been producing for 2 years, I produce many styles under different aliases (from psy trance to techno), this is my psybient/psychill alias [Apek] What i want to achieve with my psybient tracks, is a complete trip. to get the listener flying from point a to point b. feedback is appreciated Have a good listen https://soundcloud.com/apekofficial-1/quantum-consciousness
  11. Hi guys, I am looking for a track ID, it is a Psychill/Downtempo track on a mix I heard, I believe the mix is from 2011 so I would imagine the track is from around then. I will include the link to the mix below, the track in question is at 46 minutes. Thanks in advance!
  12. Artist: Radioactive Sandwich Title: B-Sides Vol. 1 Label: Self Released Date: March, 2012 1. Facebreaker 2. Falling Down 3. Make It Clap 4. Jabberwockey 5. Flying Guillotine 6. Resolution 7. The Wall 8. No Sound 9. Tundra 10. Sun In The Sea "I'm an American...you're a sick asshole!" Take that metric system! When I don't know what to write I go get a sandwich. My favorite is a radioactive one. These two are a better version of the Chemical Brothers. Big beats, moody vocals, and not afraid to use the latest trends in music. This is a collection of stuff they made before 2012 that never made it onto an album. Some of them sound like sketches and are pretty short. So what do you do with it? B-sides baby! You cannot pigeon hole these guys cause just when you're comfortable they turn the tables on you. It's electronic creativity at its finest that jumps genres and treats tempos as a suggestion. Check out this lyric: "You're f*cking ugly and I hate you. I wish you would just go and die...in a fire." Wedding vows...they ain't what they used to be. This was offered for whatever you thought it was worth awhile ago, but now that's over. They've given away a lot on Ektoplazm in the past so now it's time to throw a few scheckles their way. So for less than 4 bucks you can have some great stuff in your inbox. When you need to take a break from psytrance, but still want to keep it psychedelic check this out. B-sides...Maybe. If the b stands for bad-ass. Radioactive Sandwich Bandcamp Mdk
  13. Im looking for some awesome tribal downtempo music... Any suggestions!??
  14. Artist: Shamanizm Parallelii Title: The World In A Drop of Rain Label: Neogoa Date: August, 2014 01 - Box With Old Toys (130 BPM) 02 - Place Where Ganga Was Born (140 BPM) 03 - United Spirit (120 BPM) 04 - Shadows Of The Mountain's Shamans (146 BPM) 05 - Space Sweet Home (120 BPM) 06 - Three G (- BPM) 07 - The World In A Drop Of Rain (120 BPM) 08 - Erinaceus Europaeus In The Mist (92 BPM) What the hell is this? My inner OCD wants to...nay, needs to put this in a neat and tidy box, but after washing my hands twelve times in a row I can't place it. It's all over the place with no boundaries. You have to have boundaries don't you? That's what all the high school girls keep telling me. They wouldn't lie would they? This is part dub and downtempo, part Pink Floyd, and a soucon of Shpongle. It's not very relaxing and is jam packed sonically. Throw the rules out the window I've closed six times (and immediately reopened) in hope to define this. So I'm gonna break the cardinal rule of obsessive compulsive disorder. The holy grail. F*ck it. Yeah I said it. Freedom b*tches! Don't bring your closed minds or neatly prepared boxes for this. Just revel in the insane amount of detail located within. Get lost trying to find out where the hell it's going to go. Enjoy the musicianship and patience it must've taken to put this together. I still don't know what I'm listening to, but I recognize quality when I hear it. Hell I'm not even sure I like it. It's experimental with loads of weirdness (see the last track). Did they just put a curse on me? Oh God...starting to backslide. This might be too good for my small mind to process. And that beautiful cover art isn't helping! Can you f*ckers please throw me a bone? Where's the goa Neogoa? Is it techno? Shoegaze? *sobbing, pleading* Dear God I don't even know what that last word is!! Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

  17. Artist: Various Title: Vertex - Earth Remixes Label: TesseracT Studio Date: November, 2013 1. Joy of Silence (Suduaya Rmx) 2. Elements On Earth (Human Element Rmx) 3. Faith (Subliminal Codes Rmx) 4. Enlightenment (Aquafeel Rmx) 5. Surface (Midimal Rmx) 6. Out of Orbit (Side Effects Rmx) 7. Second Element (Nerso Rmx) 8. Out of Obit (Lyctum Rmx) "What you're trying to do as an artist is to have an experience that is worth sharing...and download it into another person's consciousness." The first time I played their debut album Ocean I was blown away by the smooth and intricate progressive sounds. Layers of relaxation just hoisted atop one another. With their sophomore album Earth they continued right where they left off. A few EP's were later released, but they didn't move me like the albums did. Prepare to be moved. Vertex are Zyce and Merlin and they comprise a Serbian powerhouse of melodic progressive trance and have some tracks from their second album remixed by a who's who in progressive trance. Suduaya begs you to let the crashing surf tickle your toes in the sunshine with a slick downtempo interpretation of the Joy of Silence. The Human Element prepares you for drift off with heavily reverberated vocals and warm sensations. Subliminal Code picks up the pace with sharp lead stabs, but doesn't disturb the groove. The Aquafeel remix let's you settle into your favorite easy chair with a hypnotic sound as Midimal sets up a house feel with a pillowy soft kick that is perfect for dreaming. The track Out of Orbit appears twice here and both remixes are top notch layer intensive experiences. Very atmospheric. Nerso returns to top form with a stunning remix that sounded perfect to these ears. Juicy, undulating, brooding... I took this album at face value. Didn't go back and listen to the originals to see if they were dramatically different...just settled in for a melodic progressive ride. And what a dreamy journey it was. The album works great whether you pick out individual tracks or just hit play. TesseracT can be very proud of this release. Highly recommended. Psyshop Mdk

  20. Artist: Lauge & Baba Gnohm Title: Daybreak EP Label: Soundmute Recordings Date: March, 2014 01 - Memories (80 BPM) 02 - Southern Hemisphere (80 BPM) 03 - Daybreak (feat. Mikkel Govertz) (80 BPM) I wrote this review back in March so excuse the hell out of me if it's a little dated. Seriously. What. The. F*ck. Where's the motherf*ckin' grass! Freezing my cottontail off! The calendar says Spring, but Mother Nature continues to give us the finger and thinks we need some more winter. Punxsutawney Phil has long been drawn and quartered as the sky dumps another deluge of cold, white powder. My wife hates the stuff, but I love it. It's quiet. Peaceful. Pure. This just came up on Ektoplazm and I'm sure glad it did. The Danish downtempo super duo is known for dreamy atmospheres and slow beats. The first release from them is no exception. Originally out in 2009 this can be warm or cold, but it is always pensive and guides you donw melancholy memory lane. Memories is like a fresh rain for a new starting point. Southern Hemisphere's slow groove puts the listener on a journey across space where a lonely astronaut strums an acoustic guitar. The final track Daybreak is a prog rock dreamscape with delicate piano twinkling amidst analog synths. What a great ep. Smooth, beautiful, dreamy downtempo with character. Thumbs way up gentlemen! 21. Artist: Flowertz Title: Avocado EP Label: Ektoplazm Date: March, 2014 1. Avocado 2. FreeForm 3. Psychedelic Dance I don't like avocados. They have a very rich green color and look like they should taste sweet like a fruit. But they don't. F*ck you Subway it's not a super food. It's a super villain food. I even came up with a cool super villain name. The Chameleon. This three track EP is from Italian Gianpiero Fiorelli (like I needed to tell you he was Italian) and it's got some strong bas and head nodding goodness. There are plenty of sounds to enjoy, but it's a little light on evolution. The last track Psychedelic Dance is more of a mid-tempo piece, but it also suffers from the same pitfall. Pretty good EP, but nothing extraordinary. The mastering was done by Colin Oood giving it a rich, warm quality. Still don't like avocados though. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  22. Artist: CoaGoa Title: Transcendental Consciousness EP Label: Timewarp Records Date: July, 2014 1. Everything Is Conscious 2. Transcendental Consciousness (Tribute to Nova Fractal) 3. Frozen Love "If you have a golf ball sized consciousness, when you read a book you'll have a golf ball sized understanding. When you look out a golf ball sized awareness. And when you wake up in the morning a golf ball sized wakefullness." Not to mention a sh*tload of golf balls. Coagoa is Alexandar Popovic and this is his debut ep. The first track is smooth and subtle. The title track is more aggressive yet equally layered. Very tasty. The last track...hmmm. For those of you who doubt that inspiration could come from a visit to a sperm back I give you...Frozen Love! That title brings to mind hair metal power ballads and the mother daughter teams that throw their panties on stage. Cheesy right? And make no mistake the cheesy title is followed by cheesy and cliched downtempo music. Aside from the last track this is a fairly good ep. The goa is multi layered warmth, floating and melodic. It sounds great thanks to the production as well as the mastering by Deimos. These days it's not enough to just make goa trance. You have to also be quite a good artist in other aspects which Alexandar did with he being the one behind the attractive cover art. Beatport Mdk

  25. Artist: Various Title: Flight 604 Label: Zion 604 Date: May, 2012 1. Enlightenment (Oforia Remix) - Loud 2. Goa Visions - Adrenalin Drum 3. Spirit of God - Qlipadelic Rhythm & Jikooha 4. Enoch - Aurax 5. Physical Reality - Computer Controlled 6. Narrow Vision In A Wide World - Cymatics 7. Analogue Sunrise - InnerZone 8. Gate To The Past - California Sunshine 9. Evil Echo - 2 Minds Sitting at home with nothing to do but surf the net is dangerous indeed. Add Zion 604 to the labels that I've cleaned out. Damn you Paypal and your incredible ease of use! If you don't know, Zion 604 Records is a psychedelic trance record label formed in March 2012 by Roy Sason, Stephan Spivak and Masafumi Hoshida. An Israeli/Japanese tag team if you will. This is their first release as a label and a first step in their main goal: preserving the Goa culture by spreading Goa music. That can't be a bad thing right? But they say that this is Pure Israeli New School at its best. That word...I don't think it means what you think it means. I recognize some of the artists as being old school, so are these new tracks? But there are new schoolers hear as well. I see you Jikooha. Don't try to hide. Enlightenment (Oforia Remix)- Ofer's back in play with a remix of a Loud track. Noun, not adjective. I was stunned at how unremarkable it was. Zero twists and turns just straight ahead. Where are the layers? Where's the acid lines? Answer me that Mr. Pigs in Space!?! Don't come in here with that weak shit Ofer. Goa Visions- "If you haven't heard of LSD, you will. It's a safe bet that this drug will make headlines in this country as it has for some years in America." You hear those 303's? Those dogs are barkin! It has a swagger that doesn't hit you at once, but prefers to strike from a distance. I was hoping for a nice climax that would bring all the elements together, but that didn't happen. Spirit of God- Now this is some good new school. It thumps with ever changing leads and arcing pads. Not overly lush with tons of layers, but again straightforward. Twinkling sounds and electronic whistles add to it's nature. For those that are sick of the floating style you'll probably enjoy this. Enoch- Old Schooler Aurax gets things chunky about halfway through with some guttural goa sounds. It pumps and rises to a pretty good climax. One of the most unintentionally sexual things I've ever typed. Physical Reality- "It only comes into existence when it bumps up against some other piece of physical reality." That's what she said. You had to be there. You might not recognize the name here, but this is Eitan Rider (half of Loud) and one of the label heads. This track sounds pure old school with a melody that I swear I've heard before. It builds and bubbles over with maximum twirling potential. Eitan should make more goa, he's pretty good at it. Narrow Vision in a Wide World- "What do you mean? What do you think when you say the word I? I...myself." Either this guy is an old schooler that never made anything or he is fresh as a daisy cause he comes right out and stakes his claim. New guy makes massive old school track. Screaming leads echo throughout as it combines the floating power of sunshine with the aggressive swagger of the dark side. Can't wipe the smile off my face. Analogue Sunrise- Another unknown artist to me with a very busy track. Pumping surely, with noisy sounds and drug samples that tumble over like a waterfall. Some good layering in there and it gets into attack mode at the end. Gate To The Past- If you've read my reviews (and how could you not I'm everywhere...see, look at my profile. Look at it. It even says so) then you know my utter disdain for California Sunshine. For my ears they haven't produced anything worthwhile in over a decade and just seeing them on a tracklist makes me want to send rockets into Israel. Now I know this is a track from 2009 so they can't add to their pile of refuse, but it still stinks. The cornball "The Gate to the Past" sample with that accent and the loud clap is like nails on a chalkboard to me. So cheesy. What's a matter, couldn't fit any guitars in here? I swear I want to start a petition to get them to drop the California from their name. They're ruining it. Gate to the past? Yeah, you wish. Evil Echo- Brothers you say? Hmm...a very cool downtempo track. The melody wavers and speaks of ancient times and deities. Deep bass hums as the trip deepens and you descend into the underground of the Middle East. Old meets young with some glitchy elements and banging percussion. Very impressive maiden voyage Zion. Throw out the CS track and it's even better. You got some old school artists and some new ones making old school. I like your philosophy and I just recently ordered your catalog so you can expect more reviews in the future. Recommended.
