  1. Artist: Lost Buddha Title: The Blessed Eight EP Label: Acid Chemical Plant Records Date: April, 2012 1. Transphiguration 2. Spiral Rotation 3. Sand Castle 4. Eternal Life The Buddha is back! Well, actually he never left. Whether you want to call him Lost Buddha, Amithaba Buddha, or just plain ol' regular fat buddha it's all Filipe Santos, one of the greatest producers of goa trance in the modern era. Here he delivers a 4 track EP that stays true to the old school roots with nimble melodies and sunshine sprinkles. The twisting level is high as the melodies rain down on you like $ bills at a pro football players bachelor party. He slides a trancey non-stormer your way with Sand Castle but that just shows his versatility. Not my favorite as I find he is at his best when he pummels you with melody after melody. Which is what you get with the other 3 tracks. He charges for this one, but just reach into your wallet and give it up. It's worth it. Besides, all the free stuff he has given away? He's earned it. Get it right here for only 4 Euro thingy's. You know you want it. Mdk
  2. Artist: Chynacid Title: Zen Dimensions EP Label: Acid Chemical Plant Records Date: April, 2012 1. Shuriken 2. Zen Dimensions Filipe, now you know I love your music. You know this. I've reviewed and purchased almost everything you have put out there. But I gotta ask you... 8 F*cking dollars? Really, $8?!? The current exchange rate for GBP to $ is 1.6 so while that is slowly tipping in America's favor, 8 f*cking dollars for two tracks? I can see this happening for three reasons. One, you are aiming to make this a collector's item by making it so expensive people can't justify paying so much for just two tracks. Two, you misplaced a decimal point. Or three, and more likely in my opinion, you just don't give a f*ck. Don't get me wrong, you've earned this with the quality of your music and the sheer amount you have given away in the past. But are people other than me willing to pay that steep a price for 2 tracks? The first Chynacid EP Tofu was brilliant and further reinforced how important Mr. Santos is to modern day goa trance. So do you get the ticket to goa heaven with this EP? I'm not gonna lie. It's pretty damn good. Layers of melody, twisted leads, and the groove to keep you dancing. So yeah, it's good. Worth 8 bucks good? I'll leave that up to you. ACP Records Mdk
  3. Artist: Wiz of Oz Title: Emerald City Acid Party EP Label: Acid Chemical Plant Records Date: October, 2011 1. Fuck that mainstream shit and start banging your head 2. Acid Snowflakes 3. Alice in Technoland "To the living...let now the dead...come alive." So I came across this in the Label section and since it was from Acid Chemical I felt I should give it a look. Then I saw the name. Oswald Pfeiffer. None other than PharaOm, aka Baron Samdi and now...Wiz of Oz. Makes sense doesn't it? Filipe has 43 aliases and if you're gonna release something under his label might as well do it under a different name. While I was less than impressed with the Baron's effort the stuff from PharaOm always left me with a smile. This is supposedly acid trance and if you pressed me I couldn't tell you what the f*ck that means. Got some goa sounds and it seems more raw than the ultra melodic goa we hear these days. The first track is the best with a slow saunter that has some major attitude. The bubbling 303 is a hallmark of this sound and you get over 7 minutes of it. Really entrancing with a break that you can almost feel curl around you. Couple that with the greatest track title ever and it's really win win. I also love the title of the second track as you can just picture it. It starts out with that 303 growl that snaps at you like a dog while a small percussive element knocks in the background. Not bad, but could've used a little more bubbling, a little more meat on the bone. The final track is the fastest and also the shortest. It seems like this was a sketchpad with a few ideas, but unfinished. First off this is free so check it out, there is nothing to lose. 2nd, if this is the definition of acid trance, then I like it. As I mentioned it is less layered and intricate than goa, but still has some of those elements. More groove oriented. The first track was tops for me as it had it all. The rest...I could take them or leave them. Good stuff Oswald, I would be interested in hearing more stuff like the first track from you. http://acprecords.ba...y-acid-party-ep Mdk
  4. Artist: Doc Von Ooze Title: In Vitro EP Label: Acid Chemical Plant Records Date: November, 2011 1 - In Vitro 2 - Hexon Fluid 3 - Nucleu 3 4 - Jerking Knobs (Microsurgery mix) 5 - Dehli Revenge Old school. Everyone seems to want it. So...what is it? What the f*ck is a MarioKart? "All I ask is that you don't get mad at me...when you have to purchase mad d-batteries." I missed the first go round of goa trance because I was all decked out in flannel riding the grunge nottakeashowerpalooza. This is an EP release from Filipe Santos that is so old school when you open the CD case there is a f*cking 45 in it. Ask your parents. Or google it, isn't that what all the cool kids are doing these days? So it doesn't come with a 45, but you get what I mean. It is of course offered digitally, but the nice treat for old schoolers is that if you buy the CD (like me) not only do you have the physical product in your hand and support the scene, but it's cheaper. So, is it worth it? You bet your Boney Arse it is. 3 dollars American gets you more old school than the poppin' and lockin' of Rerun. It cost me more to have it shipped. How the f*ck do you beat that? You don't. There is more goa and acid passion in this than anything else out there. You get 5 tracks of ripping 303's and acid lines. Bringing back memories of Transwave and Etnica, you could actually believe this was made without a computer, just racks of synths one track at a time. It comes out storming with the swirling 303's and kick drums of yesteryear, and I can almost feel the beaches of goa. Nucleu3 shows his passion for the acid side of things with nice gurgling synths that mesh well with the classic storming goa sound. The tracks just ooze (I didn't do that on purpose) quality with sharp attack leads and sparkling melodies. Dehli Revenge bubbles and just twists its way to awesomeness with its dark tenor and squelchy brilliance. What a fantastic EP. Just fantastic and that's not hyperbole. I strongly recommend this EP so that you can come worship at the temple of the 303.
