  1. Artist: Various Title: Manga Label: Yabai Records Date: October, 2007 1. Dirty Motion - Daniel 2. Damage - Flipside 3. B-55 - Manga 4. Phatmatix - Don't Get Me Mad 5. Outer Signal & Dapanji - El Diablo 6. Lost & Found - Reflux 7. Azax Syndrom & Shift - How Do You Stop It (Remix) 8. Toxic - Lost In Osaka Remix 9. Tube - Eraze The System "I just need to ask you this...how do you stop it?" This is me racing to the sh*tter after a cup of coffee and a banana. Oh Yabai, where have you gone? In a world where gay people are murdered by other gay people struggling to come to terms with their own identity you are needed now more than ever before. Yabai was a label that was the Asian ying to the South African Timecode yang. Dark full-on with a f*ckton of eerie melodies. Perhaps if you were still around he could've been dancing to music like this instead of shooting people. I'm not blaming Yabai for the recent Orlando, FL massacre, but the world is hurting and we clearly need more great music. And there are some really good tracks from Phatmatix, Lost & Found, and of course the pairing of Shift with Azax. That said all is not rainbows and unicorns. Some tracks are full of stops and starts, cheesy samples, and build ups. I'm looking at you El Diablo and Osaka. Overall a good comp with acidic craziness, but it could've been better. I'd link to it, but Yabai has shut down and the only place to find their stuff is on Discogs for ridiculous prices. Save your money, it ain't worth all that.
  2. Artist: Funky Dragon Title: Massive Label: Iono Music Date: 2007 1. Waiting For Something 2. Day After 3. Journey 4. Sunny Day 5. Massive 6. Who's There 7. Last Human 8. Yellow Summer 9. Wake Up I was Waiting For Something. Anything. Then came the Day After and the day after that and that something never arrived. To say it was an uneventful Journey barely scratches the surface. As I stared out my window at the Sun Day passing me by I realized I had made a Massive mistake. Time seemed to creep by with only mild and sometimes annoying stimulation. "Who's There?" I asked, knowing full well that like Peter I was probably the Last Human around with no one to hear my plea. Yellow Summer is the color of the day fading into night and also the feeling that my time was stolen from me. If I could float above myself I would scream and plead with my physical form to Wake Up and not make the mistake of letting the very Unfunky Dragon steal precious minutes. This is a CD of background noise where every track melts into the next with nary a distinguishing characteristic. This isn't progressive. It's minimal masquerading as progressive. Psyshop Beatspace
  3. Artist: Various Title: Analogue Label: One Foot Groove Date: 2007 1. Artifakt - Baal 2. Electric Mirror - Play It From Your Heart 3. Hydraglyph - Totalled 4. Atyss - Atomik Circus 5. Rabdom L - Fire Bird 6. Zion Linguist - Twisted Radio 7. Kut 'N' Paste - Red Dragon Correkt 8. Noise Anomalie - Virus 9. S.C.A.M. - Dirty Trancin' 10. Konchord - Bounty Hunter "Them Illegals took ur jobs!" A redneck can be blissfully ignorant about a lot of things but guns, poor hygiene, and f*cking his sister probably aren't one of them. But hey I ain't mad atcha Cleetus, nobody's perfect. I am ignorant about a lot of things too. Middle East politics. Surgery. What I can and can't wear after Labor Day...Just sayin' nobody knows it all. Take this label for instance. They're from South Africa (which is already good enough for me) and I have only been acquainted with two of their releases. But holy sh*t they were monsters. If you like the night time psytrance you typically get from South Africa do yourself a favor and check out the only album from Kut 'N' Paste and Replenishing Roots from Tryambaka. Scorchers, but finding a copy of the former can be difficult as they went full-on Yabai on a brother. So this compilation mastered by The Artifakt showcases lots of dark night time goodness. The mood is heavy and the bass lines rumble. It's a solid bit of dark-themed night music and has aged well. I would say there isn't much filler and would be a solid purchase. Who knows if the label is still active cause I've come to realize you cannot rely on Discogs. Kinda like wikipedia a bit. But this label was definitely heading in the right direction. Beatspace
