  1. What are you asking exactly? You want suggestions of good artists?

I guess that'll do. I was wondering what is the current state of psychedelic trance music seen in its historical framework. Where has it evolved, what is the new thing right now, and yes, the artist that can be seen as bringing new stuff in rather that replicating the old. But I guess that'll be an essay so even slight help on where to look at is welcome. :)

_Oh, and of course those that are already classics of new era, but I guess I can find em at the Ultimate catalogue as soon as I find that one. :P

  2. We are over that evil nasty shit and 1000 years reign of our Lord has become. Welcome to the world of peace and love

    As for music see:

Deep and Futuristic Techno/TechTrance topic here and Dubstep in other electronica and some best of + Ultimae catalogue

Ah, so the revolution finally came. As usual, I missed it. I'll check out the fruits, thank you. :)

The main portion of albums released these days are, what you call, galloping bass releases. Which, imo, doesn't mean it automagically makes an album bad. There are, altho they are few, artists out there how can make good galloping tracks. I know what I want and some "old" artists still deliver it, once in a while you come a cross new artists you like and bla bla bla... The Off topic has been removed.

That was not my point either. It's just that when I last checked out new psy releases there were so many alike releases that I got bored really fast, but no doubt that there are good artist, I just don't know them, and cuz' aren't in the "scene" don't have anyone to point them to me. That's why I'm asking.

Well the off topic admittedly became a bit of a farce, yes, but once there were really enjoyable discussions about essence of reality and mind. Nothing lasts I guess.

  3. Hiya.

I was reading these forums already back when these were free.fr or so under different names (I never remember my passwords, although there werent any originally)... anyways, lotta people still hanging around. I was wondering if there has been happening anything in psy music in like 5 years or so, really havent been interested. Or is it still stuck on galloping bass at Formula race? Could somebody fill be a bit in? Don't feel like digging through gazillion onenotebassliners.

Oh, and where is Offtopic, the fruit and bread of the board?

  4. How about next time anyone has something bad to say about an artist, dj, or style, they just DONT SAY ANYTHING!!  Isnt it a bit odd to see someone writing an extensive critique about how BAD someone is?  Isnt it a bit odd, if you hate it so much, why even bother saying anything?  It shows that you have at least a little interest in it, if you take the time to tell everyone how bad you thought it was.

Everyone has their opinion, and one persons masterpiece is another's pile of shit.  THats the way it always has been, the way it always will be.  You cant really dictate to someone the "rules of liking music".  Everyone has different ears, maybe they hear something to like that you cant hear.  Is that bad?  Does that make them any stupider than you?  For example, there are people out there that like, and support, and buy, and even dj happy hardcore.  To me happycore is the absolute worst style of music ever created with electronic devices.  But that doesnt seem to stop those who like it!  And get this, they're actually HAVING FUN!!

Imagine that.  GOing to a party to HAVE FUN!!

People do have bad and good musical tastes. Everyone has different ears, maybe you can't hear a shit? But who cares, we are all moving to marshmellowland where there is no thoughts, just MARSHMELLOWS!!! Yiweeyippee!!!
  5. Ah fuck it, love is real at the moment of happening. You might as well say that any other feeling is not real, because you aren't feeling that way the next day.

Just get so drunk that you mess the whole thing up and you don't have to think of it anymore. Then be happy and make music and wank all day. Or move to syberia.

  6. :D propably that one, I already heard one version, but it was at my friend's and I think he had dl'd wrong file. Not that he has habit of dl'ing songs, but for the purpose of seekin' it out...
  7. No not that one. More eerie, floating, dreamy feeling.

not 100% sure it's infected though, soemone just claimed so. But the melody resembles gamma goblins theme a bit, thoug the sound is quite different.

    ***************************

Found it! Was under name of Gamme Goblins on Mummy Said CD!

  8. the most important thing for a REAL psytrance producer is to chat once with Simon Posford, because he knows how to build atmosphere in his tracks not like other artists i don´t called names of it only put 4 synths together and think that is psytrance. Simon really should open a Simon Posford music school in that all other psytrance artists can go and learn how to make it right becuase they are so unexperienced and always fall, but with simon´s help and a bit thinking they will be great.

Or he should release a getting started book to teach other psytrance artists how to program their synths because the others don´t get it.  :D

    379890[/snapback]

Just guess how many synths simon had for his first album, or IM for their first...

But anyway, if I'm gonna be a REAL psytrance producer, then I'll go to posford's. not.

Musical skills are most important, you don't do a sh1t with others if you haven't got the skills.

But of course Mugge is ultimately right, no point of arguing here.

  9. if you want to silence your pc cheapo style, and this method is realy effective, just solder a 2 watt 50ohm resistor in series with the +v lead of all of your fans. this will choke the rpms of the fans, thus making them quieter. if you dont know how to do this get a mate who knows some basic electronics to help you. this wont cost you more than € 5.- ( 3 pounds)...

however make shure that your pc dose not get to hot!!!!

I also have this silencer button in my PC, manual says it's a "power-button" or something. It works every time. Next time you are making music and the computer noise is annoiyng you, press this "power-button".
  10. You know when you install Azureus, a bittorrent client, it is pretty much already set up as well as it needs to be. Just click and download, and let it seed afterwards. It's that simple, it even priorizes seeding torrents according to how many seeds are there for leecher.

Bittorrent is a way to go, even if you go with the server too, 'cuase it really lessens the server load. You could even up your songs to Pirate Bay with somehow standardized naming scheme so everyone searching for "psynews" would find what they want.

  11. "Hallucinogen's Lone Derranger ruined Psy Trance for me. Nothing gets that close to perfection since it was released."

awww... there's no perfect. every piece is created by imperfect human mind, like you and me. Don't over-romanticize, it's just Simon, others do it their way and might just be as good or better in what they do.

  12. I made better music with IT like 7 years ago that anyone of you have made with any Cubase or Logic or Reason or Acid or whatever.

No new technology can replace usability of a tracker. Only thing that separates good musician from not that good musician is their music, not their equipment. Tracker is definetly easiest way to make music if you can't play piano.

Buzz is dead. Renoise is too FT-retro, although has best quality sound. Madtracker is just clumsy. IT rocks. And all you need is P3 machine!
