  1. I don't think it's impossible that LSD makes the connection between the thoughts in your head and the music you write that much closer than it would otherwise have been. This might link into the fact that certain countries produce proportionally more dark music than others, Russia for example, as each country has its own internal situation.

Personally I much prefer the music I write to describe the world I want to live in.

  2. Just got the record today. Im not going to write a review though....

I think it sounds good, and the production is very tight. Not my favourite release this year (well, im more into tech trance than fullon/psy).

Sorry Colin in advance!! But the cover is the most hideous thing Ive seen so far as a cover for a record (atleast this year). I just had to get that of my chest. (Ohhhh now im gonna get sooooo flamed hehehe)

No worries Tekk, I know it's impossible to please everybody all the time with all aspects of a project. The fact that so many people like the album at all is not something I feel able to take for granted at all even now, and I really don't find it upsetting or even surprising that there are elements of it that don't suit all tastes. However, as far as I can tell - and as you've already made it clear with your reference to flaming - you're kind of in a minority, at least as far as online reviews goes! :P I am expecting your post to be the first in a series of uncomplementary reviews though, as I think it's possible that people who don't like the album might be intimidated by the amount of positive opinions, and your post might be the catalyst that makes them realise it's ok to have a different opinion on it!. Thanks for your honesty.

  3. Dr. Alex my ass. He's got a great line in wacky samples but the defining element of this album is the input of Kris Weston aka Thrash. The Orb were not the same after Thrash left; the guy is an utter genius - if a little unstable according to a mutual friend (who is himself a little unstable!).

This period saw the Orb's finest work and this album itself is an absolute essential purchase.

    And yes, July 1992.

  4. You have to trust moderators to know what they're doing, and to not do stuff just for the hell of it but for the greater good of the forum as a whole. I notice that there's not been much thread moving in the last couple of days; to me this would imply that what has needed to be done has been done. Perhaps by looking at exactly which threads have been moved where, forum users can work out what is considered off-topic and what is considered freestyle, and thereby learn which section to post new threads in.

IMO though, there is far too much overlap between the offtopic and freestyle sections.

  5. I see you got my point :)

Nope. This forum is dedicated to psytrance (hence the banner at the top of the window). It makes sense to me therefore to have an area where you can easily find information about the people who make it (if they can be bothered to post their information there) without trawling through pages of irrelevant threads. It's not about feeding egos, it's about enabling access to information.

If such an area was created I bet you'd use it. I know I would.

  6. My listening system is my production system - Cambridge Arcam Alpha amp driving Richard Allan RA8 (mkI) infinite baffle speakers. I've tried a few amps but this one (30 watts a side, 20 years old if it's a day, bought from a junk shop for £20 including matching tuner [since given away]) is the second-best amp I've heard with my speakers, including a Cyrus Two. The best amp was a Quad 303 which had recently been recapped, with a home-made passive attenuator on the input to get an appropriate input level from the mixer. I want one.

  7. It would probably make a terrible mix like this, but at some darker time I'd want these included:

Klangstrahler - Nexxus (Il profondo ... mix)

    Shakta - No Conspiracy

    Sonnenvakkum - Tiefenrausch

    Intact Instinct - Achtungbeschleuniger

BOTFB - Scoobydoo Meets the Fluff Monster

    Silicon Sound - Inner Space

    BLT - Monolith

    Naked Tourist - Zombifiziert Mix

    Protoculture - Halusignorita

Cosmosis - Weird, Sick and Twisted

    Transa - Recoil

    Tristan - Dawn Raider

    Kundalini - Rasa

    Technossomy - V.T.O.L.

GNOTR - Atomic Armadillo (The Fluffening)

    Fluorostani Transcendance - Synchronity Converger

Just noticed that there may be too much talking for many people's taste ;)

Just found this thread... Flurorostani Transcendance and Synchronicity Converger are both tracks by Unconscious Collective.

    Um.

Carry on... I'm going to read the rest of the thread now, where someone else has probably already corrected you. Possibly even me.

  8. Heres my interpretation:

    --- What's the fuckin fear about author's sounds ???

= Why are you scared to share your original sounds?

--- Or you are litlle guys for makin' some good ?

= Give me your good sounds, u puny artists !

    --- What time is now?

    = Give me them now!

--- Is it open community or some kiddin' babies ?

= Are you gonna give them to me or not?  Babies!
