  1. To be honest I mostly buy modern vinyl as it sounds much better than any of the old stuff I still own.

probably the best quality psy trance I own is the latest Captain Hook album that was pressed so well. It's expensive, but it's probably the best mastering & quality vinyl I own in my entire vinyl collection. Truly an eargasm.

it made me feel bitterly disappointed in the lack of quality control at DAT & the Shpongle box sets. They look pretty but when my mate who only masters for vinyl ran them through his testing gear, he said I was well ripped off.

Wow, that sucks. Sad to hear that you experienced that.

The mix I agree on, I think it's boring to listen to the same style of  music all of the time =)). The ebm and industrial is of course not that far away from psytrance. But there are so much good music out there, I just need to find it =)).

Yeah man industrial is amazing music, it's why most my modular gear is Erica a Synths which really suits that style, as well as deep drones.

I discovered this band last year & have all their vinyls. Really interesting mix of black metal and Ebm/industrial  vibes

Those on the far right are not psyrave. Well on the one you see, Alien Sex Fiend, Posford, Watkins and Glover have remixes. But the rest are mixed, ebm, industrial, rap, pop and probably some other stuff. The two on the left are 12" and the other one are albums. =))

Yeah it's important to have a mix, back when I could I'd go to the few vinyl shops in my town and often grab a record or two of genres I wouldn't usually choose. Jazz, traditional rock etc.

as much as I want to enjoy rap & associated genres I was brutally beaten to the point of need hospitalization by some blokes with gangsta rap blaring in '96 and the mental connection I have now just sends me in to massive panic attack when I hear anything close to that style.

that's why I enjoy drum & bass, it's stylistic different enough for me to enjoy the MC work without freaking me out.

Great, so now you are immune to Covid-19 you can go face the next big thing: the financial crisis that is upon us.

You already cleared the first obstacle: spending your money on sh*t (and actually getting the stuff in your hands - many people neglect that ... amazon's delivery time has skyrocketed up to 1 month) before it's worth nothing anymore :P

We invested heavily in many physical commodities held in a safe box that will hold the value of cash is worthless.

My wife's parents came from a severely war torn country, she was raised to be ready & invest appropriately in case the economy ever collapses.

all of this stuff was bought with case I've made this year from work, currently a lot of people need their music mastered.

  5. Well the full lock down my end  is sorted. Just had a Sequential Pro 3, Prophet 6 & Erica Synths Tech System delivered.

Kids got a a trampoline installed in the back yard this morning & a Nintendo Switch.

Spent the weekend cooking and freezing lots of quality food, and set up my wife's gone office properly.

Actually could not be happier, especially as it was confirmed today that when we had what was a bad cold a two weeks back and self isolated was the virus. Self isolated as in while we have waited for results we have not gone out the front door.

The wife, kids and I all have had it & are clear. Fingers crossed we're immune now.

^ @Bartzabel "worst review ever" what i mean is that (also on these quarante times) it would be really nice to read actual reviews in this section and not short promotion posts like that..  :) *mod, delete this post. I dont have a review myself, so.. Right back at me :P.

    Album sounds good.

Yeah I got what you meant. It was a mistake on my part. I'll make sure to post more appropriate responses in this section.

Well, I have only a few. But I like my collection, lol. Ofcours I do... Alot of amazing music in there. =))

Nice!! Yeah I've got about 150 heavy metal albums, a few of other types of electronic and I think probably around 200 eps and albums of drum & bass.

it's such an addiction. But my kids love the process of putting a vinyl on.

What happened to that beautiful artwork?

Why is there a cup of coffee there????

Why does it sound like it was recorded in mid '90 with all those cheap presets and squeaky high-pitched sounds? It sounds NOTHING like the videos he's been posting on his YT, where it seemed much more contemporary and modern.

And there's "voice work..." again??? I'll pass on this one...

    :(

Yeah agreed this is a major "pass" for me as well. That cover with the coffee cup... looks so cheap & nasty.

The shut down could affect the creativity in a negative way too. For various reasons, the stress of it for one, and also because more time needs to be spent with family if schools are closed etc. And since Astral Projection prior to the corona outbreak played live sets abroad a lot. I would assume their financial situation must be quite affected by the travel restrictions. That in itself can really be detrimental to the inspiration.

Who knows, they even might need to sell of some studio equipment if the financial situation becomes bad. I see an increase where I live, in people selling of studio equipment right now.

Very true. Simon Posford posted on his Instagram how his anxiety is causing a completely lack of creatively.

that said Ott is working hard on his new album, and that excites me more than a new AP album.

Now if they remastered properly for vinyl & reissued a deluxe version of Dancing Galaxy and Another World albums It might get the pulse going.

They've been cancelling most events here. My birthday is on the 31st and on the 4th there was supposed to be a psy party I was going to attend with close friends. Guess I'll cancel my own birthday lol.

Yeah well I've had tell my 7 year old, (after telling home no holiday overseas, then no holiday  even within our state) that he isn't getting a birthday party this year either.

He has taken as well as he can, but I fell so sorry for him. Anyway, managed to get to the shops before they shut down to get him some of his long term dream gift (2 big LEGO sets, a cheap but ok digital camera & a bike with gears).

now my brother who's a doctor here in Australia in ICU has come down with the virus & has been advised he's heading toward complete lung failure and death a big possibility. He has 4 kids & wife.

I'm still seeing teenage c#nts hanging out in groups & even adults at parks not distancing properly.

    Just stay at home!!!

  12. Regarding vinyl yes it is very different. I have plenty of vinyl from electronic & heavy metal genres.

The ones who use the digital mastering and just press it to vinyl sound like absolute rubbish. In the metal scene the band Anaal Nathrakh are infamous for this, their vinyl releases are horrible as they master their own work and are bad at it.

it's like comparing an artist who works with two different materials. The wood requires certain skills to work it perfectly, and then they work with metal which again uses different skills.

mastering for digital or cd is quite easy, cheap & can be done rapidly. Mastering with vinyl done well takes a long time, usually requires high end analogue gear & costs a significant amount. This is why a good vinyl is 3-4 times the price.

I have worked in my friends studio, where for $50 a track he will master for digital using software. For vinyl he will charge $100-150 a track using a process of analogue & other gear that has cost him a hundred thousand or more to set up. He won't let anyone touch this gear.

but the sound of a good quality vinyl is absolute aural sex. When I go for a bike ride and listen to steaming it's ok, get home and out the vinyl on and it's such an audiogasm.

  13. You're very correct. Asian people have been through so many crisis, like my wife's family, the wars and persecution they have experienced over generations have taught them how to deal with these exact situations.

She has organized reasonable amounts of everything needed in our cupboards without hoarding, she has organized our daily routine to manage all the levels of fear and anxiety from our youngest child up to me, she is still working & because she has kept us rational our sex life now is better than its ever been.

I'm going out seeing white folk like me Behaving completely mental, because our privilege has meant we've never really needed to deal with such a crisis.

The worst are the religious who every weekend pretend to to say words of love & care for their fellow humans but really don't.

When this eventually passes there will be, I assume, so very ashamed adults.

Anyway, gotta run as I promised my kids pancakes for breakfast & then while they do their homeschooling I'm cleaning the house.

    Stay well!

  14. Currently in isolation here in Australia. A teacher at my kids primary school tested positive last night, until they can trace all contacts we have to isolate ourselves.

We're allowed to go for walks or to playground as long as it's not crowded, and not anywhere near shops etc.

Luckily I had already done our fortnightly grocery shop last week so we're ok for 2 weeks.

Just took delivery of my Erica Synths Techno system modular synth so am sorted for entertainment.

I'm really hoping I wasn't  carrying it to my parents house on Sunday though. My Mum has just got out of hospital after being badly hit by a car, and they are 85 years old.

  15. Triphonic album on Zenon (digital)

Aes Dana - Inks on vinyl from Ultimae

    And from the non-psy genres

my wife surprised with the Autechre - NTS sessions vinyl box set she had kept secret for a long time for our 10 year wedding anniversary.

Also non-music but music I also have the Erica Synths Techno System coming to add to my studio this week which is like my mid-life crisis purchase instead of a motorbike or tattoo.

  16. Yeah I had to break up a fist fight between 2 grown men over hand sanitizer at the supermarket this morning. One had a broken nose & the police came.

I got suspicious a few weeks ago & got a few extra packets of toilet paper and tissues, but not much. Just like a months worth instead of a fortnight.

I've shared some with my elderly parents, my Mum was hit by a car walking a fortnight ago and just a me home from hospital.

Also have stocked some food, just because I have my 5 year old & 7 year old to make sure are cared for.

I am disappointed they are keeping schools open still here, and that my wife is being told to catch the train in to work when she could work from home.

If they get sick, especially my wife who has Cerebral Palsy, I will be very angry.

is it really that hard to just shut down and stay home for 2 weeks? Let the virus run its course, and then slowly restart.

With all this technology, lots of LEGO & a good vinyl collection my family is fine to lock down. I can also finish my music work without having to do the school runs.
