  1. Digital Reprints News

I got older, more grumpy and with lower tolerance for bulls**t, I guess... If something it not up to basic standards, then I simply refuse to buy it. Conversely, I'd be willing to pay extra if someone went above & beyond to make it right.

I'd obviously love Cosmosis, but frankly the audio quality of the material Bill used for his Retro v1 and v2 is atrocious - some of the tracks that I know were released on CD were 'sampled' from vinyls or DAT without any correction, so they're full of cracks, pops and hiss. No care whatsoever was taken to bring all the tracks to similar volume level and tonal (frequency) balance, so if that was to be the case for Digital Reprints release then I hope it won't happen... I'm betting on Solar Fields!
  3. I'm not really sure why this particular album is singled out as "rife with overused overblown flatulating glitch synths, generic build-ups and drops accompanied by a feeling of trying to appeal to drunk clubbers" because I can name dozens of much more formulaic and blatantly opportunistic releases over the last years going across the spectrum: from progressive, through full-on and goa to dark / forest. Sure, it's not revolutionary or anything, but - for me - it actually stands out from majority of what's being released, same like last year's Loud's "5 Billion Stars" did (met with hugely polarising reviews). It helps that other artists were involved, because it creates sort of a journey here, resulting in a pretty varied release that's still held together by a common sound. I'd actually be grateful if you could point to other albums in this vein?
  4. Sorry, somehow missed it @Mods, please delete my topic.
  5. Hutti Heita's 2015 album turned some heads around, but we've not heard much from Yggdrasil Rec. until now - a 3CD compilation, incl. Hutti, Fragletrollet / Unknown Cause, Derango, Procs, Hallucinogenic Horses, Kurbeats and others. Samples in the link below: http://www.arabesquedistribution.com/index.php?option=com_artistavenue&task=singleCd&id=3827&Itemid=1
  6. That's all I needed to know, although - for those interested - there are samples in the link below: http://www.arabesquedistribution.com/index.php?option=com_artistavenue&task=singleCd&id=3782&Itemid=1
  7. Very good, varied and intelligent mix of progressive & light full-on, incl. collaborations with Ticon, Mr.Bill, Rocky, Sensient, Outsiders and Evil Oil Man. Incredible production values is just a cherry on top. Check this out! Buy here: https://arabdigitalhommegaproductions.bandcamp.com/album/edge
  8. Not getting younger might have something to do with that Anyway, listening though this I can't shake the feeling that I've heard all that somewhere already: the spoken samples have been either used by other artists or even by CBL guys themselves (at least the same source), their trademark sounds - bells, small acid lines, etc. - became predictable and the music itself somehow feels much more repetitive than their previous releases. Maybe it will grow on me, but I wasn't 'wow'-ed by any of the tracks so far. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, but it's not on the same level as Hydroponic Garden, World of Sleepers or Interloper.
  9. Got it. Not impressed so far
  10. Best earphones for goa?

Well, I'd rather spend that $1.3k on 3 pairs of different headphones and some monitors to test how my mixes translate to various hardware. But that's just me
  11. Logic Pro 9

Apparently he's unstuck already Love that about today's internet - people come, ask for something and then never come back to reply
  12. Logic Pro 9

You'd be better of finding Logic users group on Facebook? or maybe look for some tutorials on YouTube? I'm pretty fluent in Live 9 and Bitwig 2 and somewhat in Studio One 3, so can't help with Logic-specific stuff
  13. The knobs to the left of every device, I think in 2.0 they're called remote controls. Sorry
  14. Best earphones for goa?

Yeah, that would be wise Also, for quality IEMs I can recommend Audio Technika's e-series. I have e40 (https://eu.audio-technica.com/headphones/in-ear/ATH-E40, 100EUR) and they're awesome once they burned-in and I learned how to wear them properly. This particular model slightly accentuates the mid range (it's far from sounding harsh, though), but still has very good and clear bass and transparent highs. What struck me immediately is how 'wide' the sound stage is, comparable to open-back on-ear headphones really. The e50 and e70 models cost x2 and x4 respectively, but are supposedly - based on several reviews I read - worth it, as they offer even more flat response (without the bump in mids). If mine breaks some day, I'm gonna be buying e50-s for sure.
