  1. Actually a nice one, but does not come close to my standards... been falling in love with some of that stuff lately though...

Yeah, I will contribute to this topic as well, after a long time, just out of fun, since I very rarely listen to psy trance past few years...

And after all these years I realized that next 5 albums I simply cannot stop listening and are absolutely timeless...

BLUE PLANET CORPORATION - BLUE PLANET

BATTLE OF THE FUTURE BUDDHAS - TWIN SHARKFINS

    MFG - PROJECT GENESIS

    UX - ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE

    MIDI MILIZ - NON STANDARDS

All these 5 albums have very strong entrancing effect on my brain, they just never get tiring...

....being dark, massive, and very psychedelic... cream crop of psychedelic trance, except of Non Standards which is just plain fun. xD

    One album mate :) One!

    VA - Psy Stories 3

so far... but I have a lot to listen to still

I said Artist Album, and yeah, a VA can be it as well, but the topic is one artist. I have not yet listened to what you posted, so I will in the next few days :)

  2. So, OMG, Nemo is back! :) Well, whatever, i just wanted to share something with yall after being idle for so long as I have been (does not matter, why, but life has changed a lot)

i took some serious time to listen to some old and new psy. I listened for a long time, I listened very intensively, and I listened with an ear that was way more open than it used to be. The albums that I ended up listening to the most were:

    Etnica - Alien Protein

Planet BEN - Trippy Future Garden

    X-Dream - Radio

(and believe me, I was listening to about 200 albums before I chose the 3 above)

Now, all those are great, but the one that I really fell for is Planet BEN.

Reasoning for this, its heavy, its intelligent, it makes you ears go crazy with the basslines, it is acid, it is psy, it is TRIPPY. It has what I would like to have from a psy album, it has everything. For me, its kind of "dark psy" but on the the other hand its very melodic, and not so dark.

What is your take? What is the ultimate album by an artist for you? (psy that is)

    Kind regards people!

    Nemo

    1 Omen (7") (4:12)

    2 Omen (12") (6:59)

    3 Open Mind (5:29)

Yet another one of those border territory EPs. The main influence is acid house but still you can clearly hear trance influences which is why I decided to review it here. The main melody hook is quite catchy and has been playing in my mind for weeks now :) The Best track here is the 12" version of Omen. Open Mind is pretty crappy IMO...

I am sorry to say Lemmiwinks, your mini reviews really are crappy! They say absolutely NOTHING about the record at hand.
  4. Scooter is europop music or however many germans call it Kirmestechno.

Man they are like Dieter Bohlen. Posted Image

You know your shit bro. You are German by the way? Frankfurt area? If so, whats happening there at the moment? A lot Minimal no?

  5. Well yes, but isn't this shoutout a kind of tribute and respect to the artists/djs they mention?

Like the artists that inspired them in the first place?

so, if we argue that way, I can make some gabber track, and start mentioning Shpongle, Hallucinogen... I understand why people did not want their name in there, the did not want to be associated with the type of music Scooter was doing...That's all. But hey, I do not really give a fuck haha. Scooter is so out of my taste range anyways, id rather listen to Neue Deutsche Welle, and god knows I hate that stuff. :D
  6. I doubt the pound is weak enough to compensate for how much more expensive CDs are here than everywhere else.

One CD at Juno Pound 10.99

One CD at Psyshop Euro 15.99

    ?

    10.99 GBP = 12.32 EUR

Order 5 cds, and you have made yourself a couple of euros of beer :D

And the pound will become weaker very soon, and I know this since I am working with money at the moment. It is predicted that the euro will go down to: Euro 1.0373897477 0.9639578588

and even chances of that the pound goes below the euro, which it almost was in December? I have some really interesting tables at work (which I can not share) but it scares me to see what I am seeing.

  7. you mean that shoutout they do in Hyper Hyper?

Yes, in the radio edit. I think there are still versions (Album) that have his name. I think 3 persons got them removed for the Radio edit, and that was Pascal Feos, Sven Vath and Hell. They were infact outraged over the fact to be in that track. I mean, he gave a shootout to people that have NOTHING to do with his scene, and a scene that they infact do not support. :D
  8. ..compiling a cd.

not for release but to show what can be done with female vocals in trance / chill / dub / electro, whatever.

there is this friend of mine who sings well and i want to make her sing or chant or something into electronic music, and i know some musicians with whom she could co operate, but i have to prepare a sort of "demo" to let her hear what people are doing around.. as she is pretty new to these genres.

she knows pop / rock / house / dance stuff and can sing well but i would want her to try smth different.

any suggestion in the wide range of electronic music is welcome..

i will start saying that i remember some chants into some talpa tracks, and into some chill from sunline records (like new zymosis) but my memory is leaking as my time is limited to compile this disc..

so any quick suggestion is welcome :)

hope my post is clear :D

    Shpongle :D
  9. Do you guys that live in Europe also EARN less? If not, then why not just order stuff from the UK? With the exchange rate at the moment, you should be able to make a buck even. I know it applies to Music Equipment, the thing I want to buy, I can save 300 euros on, just by ordering it from the UK instead of in Germany :)

  10. Changeling - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0824747/

My God! Eastwood really know how to make movies. Apparently based on a true story where a mothers son gets kidnapped only to return again, or did he?!?! ;) Too bad the horrible Angelina Jolie plays the mother. She plays the part ok but I just can't stand her. She's no eyecandy at all... They should have gone with Witherspoon instead :)

Final Verdict 4/5 (Damn you Jolie!)

Oh yes, very good movie indeed. 4/5!

    Snatch! 10/10

  11. fixed

Nah, cause I hear more people than you complaining about it... And I have to say -"Why complain, when you can get what you want!" :D It's not like they stopped selling Psy Trance, they just broadened their scope, thats all. :)
  12. Well you both got me wrong here. Of course I believe that Prog is a psytrance subgenre. This is why I said that Ace Ventura is psytrance. I can also understand acts that once was a psytrance group but not anymore (like Ticon) being on that list.

But Neelix? Or the 1001 Flights comp? That's not progressive psytrance, not even progressive trance.

Remember the Peter Gun (or something) debut album? Psyshop promoted it although it was a tech house. It seems that Psyshop has a big profit from this kind of releases.

And it's kinda strange a psyshop to sell so many non psy cds (and especially vinyls).

    That is all :)

Do you think that they will stop selling stuff cause it is not Psy enough? Remember that it is in their interest to sell and make money, and therefor, it does not matter if it derives from the original idea of the site. Maybe they should change name of the site, but that makes little sense either. So, until we are less "genre focused", we have to live with the fact that stuff that is not PSY will be sold on PsyShop :) Yeah, and it might be sad for some people that some NON PSY releases are in the top sellers, but thats just how it is, and I can only suggest that you LIVE WITH IT!
  13. Well sure, I do not see stuff like Perfect Stranger, Ticon or The Delta as psy anymore, and of course, it is a bit wrong to sell it on "PsyShop"... but so should not some of the Dark Psy, as for me, it has nothing to do with PSY TRANCE anymore. But on the other hand, as so many people have pointed out to me, they are deriviates of PSY and... oh well, its a never ending story.

    Catch my drift? :)

  14. I like this album, but on the contrary to what Abasio mentioned about The Only life we've Known, I think that this is the best track of the whole album. It reminds me of old EBM but with Trance Elements. Sure, to the psy fan this is just shit maybe... but to me it sound like something that Front 242 would have done, IF they made trance! :)

All over the album gets an 7/10 from me.

  15. oh yes but I was speaking about the MWNN alias cause I somehow supposed that he made trance under that name. Anyway, it all makes you wonder why it took him so much to make the killer melodies for which he was later known for. Ah well, better late than never as they say ;)

;) What did you expect from if it was from 1990? I mean, dont you think that if this would have been THE FIRST goa release that people wouldnt be all over it and been mentioned BEFORE 2009? LOL!

    A Way Out West

B From Within The Mind Of My 909

Being a big MWNN fan I was always intrigued to see that he was already releasing music in 1990. So I got this EP thinking I'd find some early trance with the typical MWNN touch. Well, once I finally got hold of it I was utterly dissapointed cause this has absolutley nothing to do with MWNN's later style, and even nothing to do with trance. Side A is a silly acid house track with samples from the classic western The Good The Bad and The Ugly. Actually if I didn't see "Martin Freeland" specifically written on the record, I would've thought it was just another artist who happened to have the same name. Side B is a bit more underground and even a bit of a trancy feeling here and there but still nothing close to his later style. So if you get this one it should be for historical purposes ONLY, the musical value is close to 0...

You are right, it has nothing to do with later Psy that he made. However, he released music already in the 80s not 90 :Dhttp://www.discogs.com/artist/Martin+Freeland?noanv=1

    :)

I have most of that stuff, and I love it. But if you can not stand acid house and house, then you wont like it of course.

Dig deep and the rabit hole gets deeper :D UK Psy, I think was heavily influenced by Acid House back in the day :D
