Listening to mine again the second one definitely sounds better than the first.
Ring mod is used on the second and it's also a whole octave lower but it doesn't sound like it

nope its not the 808, actually the 808 sounds nothing like that
its the DR110 as stated in the vid description

your title has the answer to the question you are posting in your thread
its a high octave square, saw or sine wave (based on what sound you are after)

two 20+ inch screens are a must, but that goes without saying of course.
a midi keyboard for keys and drums, and nothing beats the mouse+keyboard for everything else.
(if you are a software music producer)
i really dont see how anything else would help the creativity process than the intuitive nature of mouse+keyboard (and ofc the midi keyboard for knob-adjustments, sounds and fx and in many cases melody and drum programming)

somehow in my head the kick for this track should be something like MFG - Alternate dimension.
of course im not here to dictate on your creative process and its not what im trying to do either.
its not even a suggestion for you.
its just what I hear in my head when I hear your track. Is that kick instead.

too low and bumbly.
a clickier and more midrange kick would fit more IMO, with the rest of the mix

I tried aswell, just by looking at the above pic to get notes and pitchbend, i tried to copy it.
I spent about 15 minutes doing this, then about 10 minutes to tweak the synth to sound "OKAY".
Reason Subtractor was used + phaser + chorus + delay
I think it came out not very alike but Im dying to hear what you were able to create!
As you got very good response from that guy who said it was very close!!

anyway here is mine
made two loops, one without ring mod and one with. coundlt decide which one sounded better so i used one of each
recording at -12 db and normalizing to -0.5 db: how much quality is lost?

My first initial reaction is.. 48bit?
CD audio is 16 bit. And I am assuming the music you are working with are normal cd masters? (or equivalent)
