"No one knows when or where the next crisis will strike. But we do know that children are disproportionately affected in times of crisis- and often suffer most. In an age of armchair activism and Facebook shares, likes and temporary Facebook rage (usually expressed in a concise status friendly sentence), I've been called to action.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the release of Shanti Planti's 2nd V/A Compilation titled "Middle Peace". Shanti Planti and the artists involved with this project have devoted much of their time and craft to create an incredible collection of conscious frequencies in a bid to raise funds to help the organization SaveTheChildren provide immediate emergency relief, healthcare, education and protection for children where necessary. STC creates Child-Friendly Spaces for children to safely play and learn, even in the midst of crisis. Unique among emergency responders, Save the Children stays as long as it takes after crisis strikes, helping children, families and communities recover from their losses and rebuild their lives.

For this compilation we will be focusing on raising money for children and families in the Gaza Strip that have been ravaged by recent conflict. We plan on making this an annual affair and hope to build a strong partnership with the SavetheChildren Foundation.

We are incredibly blessed, please help us help our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO SAVETHECHILDREN." - Whitebear

  4. Radioactive Sandwich is proud to announce the release of "Homunculus". Originally written to showcase the versatility of Image-Line’s FLStudio (www.flstudio.com), “Homunculus” is Radioactive Sandwich’s newest track to come out of the kitchen. Being that the track was released with the latest edition of FLStudio, Radioactive Sandwich held a remix contest, with prizes provided by Image-Line, to inspire FLStudio users to explore their software even further and encourage non FLStudio users to try the powerful DAW. The 4 remixes presented here are Radioactive Sandwich’s personal picks out of over 2 dozen entries. This EP is available for free and licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.

    Enjoy!
  6. He is just using Alchemy, a granular synthsizer. Its sample based but I find it hard not to call it synthesis. Also listen to Two fingers his side project

Two Fingers is awesome. The first album was more enjoyable than the 2nd, IMO, since it had rappers on it. That shit is ridiculous.

I see where we're differing in our definition of synthesis. I can agree with you mostly, but I think I'll always see him as a sample-based artist.

  7. That's the thing - from my recollection, he still really doesn't use synthesis in the normally understood way. I don't think he's creating synth patches and such. I think he's just massively processing already collected samples. I guess that could be considered synthesis. Regardless, whatever he's doing, it's ridiculously amazing and I'm glad to see psy-heads enjoying his massive works.

    Peep this video: http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2011/05/02/amon-tobin-making-sounds-for-isam/

  8. All Amon Tobin uses is samples. What are you talking about? Unless you mean samples from records specifically. Foley Room is ALL samples that he collected himself on a months long trip travelling and sample collecting with 2 high end matched mics and a portable reel-to-reel. In fact, I remember reading an interview where he talks about rarely using synths, as he creates all his sounds from already made sounds. Amon Tobin is the lord and master of sampling. Dude is amazing. His sampling abilities are what makes him so ridiculous.

The Two Fingers project is awesome. The first album was better as the beats had vocalists on top. The 2nd album is cool, but it gets kind of boring without any vocals.

Also, Happy Mushroom, you're from Philly? So are we! Well, sorta. Slice Two still lives there, but Slice One has moved on to NYC.
