I have been listening to quite a bit of ambient and psychill over the last two months and I cannot help to note and kind of complain about the overuse of Indian samples.
What are your thoughts?
Personally it bores me to death!
Somewhat indifferent , Personally a bit less would have been okay , but there is so much diversity in indian music . rather than trap these diversities, they just stick on to the Jazzy - modern - Hindustani versions ..! or whatever they are called.
+1 I have heard some pretty amazing traditional vocals and melodies from these regions.
Just to clarify my point, I am not saying that Indian samples per se are boring, but that their overruse is...

I missed the glory days of Goa trance since I only discovered psy and Goa a year and a half ago. I've only been able to attend one psy party, so have pity on this poor ole soul. LOL
I'm filling out my classic Goa trance collection and don't have MFG - The Prophecy. I only have New Kind of World, but I would absolutely love to have it added to my collection.

first things first . get down in goa . and head north . the party scene unfolds from aunjuna up north to Arambol . these are the places you have to be if you are looking for Rave / Trance parties . just see which places are cool for you along this strip ( frm Anjuna - Arambol ) anjuna is very wild , ahile arambo, is a little more relaxed and less crowded . so have your pick . according to what you want ...
then get a bike for rent , coz it makes sense when you have to pay just rs.100
( approximately $3 dollars ) so your transportation is solved . you can get accomodation for something like ( 200 ~ 500 ) R.s depending upon how long you gonna stay .. and which place ...
To start with if you dont know where the parties are ( the good one's ) then just hang out either in ( Primrose , 9 Bar , or Hilltop ) you will meet some nice people and get to know where the good parties are ...
if you want to know more ..i can suggest the places that i stay ... anyway im planning to go there this year end ...

** I would say yes and No.. Goa nowaday's is infected with Isra-trance... its great .. but doesnot have the Pure Goa Beat to it ... But still a great place if you meet nice People and really Look around...
yeah GOA is great i donno how it used to be... last week was my first trip to goa..and i knew nothing abt goa.. i reached and asked from some local ppl where is the party place and they recommended anjuna beach there i went and started partying from sunset to sunrise it was really a good experience and i think i have to visit goa again.

P.s - Im Planing to Go-2 GOa this Year-end on my Enfield Bullet with a short stay in Hampi- and Gokarna ... Wish me Luck....

I'm in Goa atm and I think it's wonderfull !! My parents have been living here for 20 years, about 15 years ago.. so now that they came back and saw how everything changed, in their opinion in a bad way, I hear all the time " this was so much nicer back then and that was so much greater in the good old days" I mean Fuck ! I don't care if it was better 20 years ago, I'm here now, and I love it
Gotta go back to Spain tomorrow too, hu hu hu hu
** The Best Part is the Local people are very acceptive , and Open Minded ... spare a Couple of things.....

GO to GOa and look around for a couple of day's ... Die hard Psyfans are to be found between Anjuna and Aswem ..
the north .. stay out of calangute and Mapsa.. not a Gr8 idea ..
Acid is a little tough to come by . Weed and Charas are easy ... Go to Arambol..
you will find a lot of Isreali people ..
they are O.K dudes.. hang around and when you visit parties...just ask casually ..
it works ..
Coz hunting directly kinda gets into trouble..

North Goa after Aswem and Arambol are quiet Blast.
( when Getting bike for rent... Bargain as much as Possible...( Good deal - 50~100 per day )
You will get accomodation ranging from 100Rs ~ 400Rs ) which are quiet decent , depending upon u r bargaining skills .
Remember the Local police tel # ( 100 ) and if the cops threaten you ... and stuff .
say my Embassy people will come .... i am only talking to your Superiors ..
this usually helps as they feel apprehensive about letting their officer know ... and they get intimidated by the Embassy Word .
*** In-case you are busted for Possesing Stuff ****
1 - Ask your Landlord ar someone you know to get a lawyer to talk to ...
2 - Carefully try setriking a Deal with the Junior Policeman ( Constables) .
3 - Say some guy's were here for a Smoke and Left it back....he..he .
Be careful while travelling in India .. if you have your girl friend along .. then you are in for a Hellava bad time if you plan on vistin rural india ..
Avoid much eye contact ... even tough they will literally be staring at you for a long ...long.... time ...
Avoid getting too friendly with People , who give out a bad vibe ...
Carry Water ...( SOme places wont have Mineral water )
Get used to Ugly smelly Loos' while travellling ...
mostly people like cabbies will tell twice or thrice the price ... best thing to do.. see around if there is a traffic cop ... ask him what the fare would be ..
( Cops are mostly O.K )
Be-careful about your Food ( Very Careful ) .. stomach get upseted a lot ..

so carry a Mosquito repellent like Odomos ..
or buy a Plugin mosquito repelent that you can plug into a power outlet it costs say 2~3 Dollars .. or 100 rupees ..
if you travelling / Backpacking up-north ... Himalayan Zone and get lost . or are in trouble take the help of Army people they are a friendly lot .. Pretty Decent --)

Hi people .. im new to Psytrance ... but have been a regular to goa for the last 5 years ....
hmmm . i do understand your aunguish against some jerk's ( single indian jerks ) . well i myself feel disgusted by them sometime ...
last year me and my Grlfrnd had been to (bar and Primrose .. man my whole evening mmod was lost .. with this Mossi guy , following me and her .. he even tried closing in when we were dancing .. i almost wanted to smack his ball out ...
well anyway ...
so me and my girlfriend were planning for an awesome party this year end .
so this new Idea popped up into my head ...
hey how about organising a X-clusive party this time around .. just by Us the Psynews family of poeple ..
so here is the deal ,, if i get enough responses and participation i am ready to take the lead ...
i have a idea were we rent out a nice place in goa for dirt cheap ... somewhere far and away .from the regular party scene .maybe aswem ...? who knows
And organise party. and maybe create this small colony of like minded people . we then invite only like minded people.
50 people top . not more .
think about it . 50 like minded people , far away from all the idiotic crowd .
20th Dec ~ 27 Dec ... the remaining of days everybody can go wherever they want to ... and party like hell .

all right . first things first . first of all its better you start with goa . there are a lot of things , like in what you like and what is your poison . if Mushies and XTc and stuff like that are quiet tuff .
what i would suggest is that start with Weed , then maybe Hash .
Goa trance is like a slow acquired taste . your head has to be working in " THe frequency " to accept it . if you dont have a free spirit , Goa trance is not for you ..
once you are accoustomed to all this move to manali . but be careful . while travelling in India .
me too planning to go to manali by Jan / FEb 2006 .

i have 2 places for you ... Goa and Sri-lanka . both are quiet rewarding . depends on what kinda trip you are opting for ..
sri-lanka is a great deal.. really affordable but not as wild as Goa .
its quiet mellow . and its a soul search place .
but the bueaty of goa is that it can be both a soul serching place as well as a wild partying type depending upon when you go ..

First of all I have to say that it's always inspiring to read Mike D's reviews,
cause to me he's a guy who really does his job thoroughly. As for the
compilation? Well I've been listening this over and over. I think that Rhino
is doing fairly good job. Personally I have always liked J. Monroe and M. Katz
aka GLF is one of my favourites nowdays. I did a review for local paper and
gave 4/6. Highlight is of course Wizzy's Velocity. This is a kind of spacey
rocker. Send me somewhere out there when I was listening this when falling in
sleep. And ManMadeMan's Lookout is nice tribal kicker. Keep up the good work
