2005: Derango - Tumult
-
since you talk about shpongle, if you want the chillier side of things, check out the disc "multiple organisms"
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/nmd/nmd1cd001.html
i am sure you will find a track or two there that u like!

Heres my interpretation:
--- What's the fuckin fear about author's sounds ???
= Why are you scared to share your original sounds?
--- Or you are litlle guys for makin' some good ?
= Give me your good sounds, u puny artists !
--- What time is now?
= Give me them now!
--- Is it open community or some kiddin' babies ?
= Are you gonna give them to me or not? Babies!
--- thnks
= Thanks.

FL and Cubase can both run on a strong laptop, but in my experience, Reason is the fastest and most stable!
On the other hand, you cant freeze a track in Reason, so you can only go so far, but with Cubase you can keep freezing tracks to make your tunes more complex!

hi everyone, Reason newbie here...
im using 2.5 and i have been downloading free movie wav snippets that i want to use in NN-XT, Dr REX Loop, etc....
The thing is now i cant use the wav files i downloaded, it says the files are corrupt or unknown? tried putting them in ReCycle too, and it says the same thing?
Do i need a converter, or are those wav files just broken?
If some one could help me that would be great
Adios Amigos!
Psy
try Winamp to play them first, it will play almost anything.
make sure your WAV files are in the proper 16bit/44 format, you may have to resave them.
also, in Reason, make sure you are loading them into the proper device slots. i dont believe you can use a Wav file in Rex, and putting them in NNXT is not simple. i recommned you put them into a Redrum if you want simple playback.

Hi everyone,
Was wondering if you could rename refills, so i would know which ones are for what devices, like adding extra info to the title....
...ive renamed one now, and when i try open it from the device it was open in before it's disapeared, not in the list where it was?? like the format is wrong or something....also tried renaming it with .rfl at the end, dont work either?
Can you actually rename Refills?
Thanks
ive renamed them with no big problems.
the biggest problem was loading up a song with the old name, i have to search for it again.
dont rename them while reason is open tho.
another tip, if you are using Windows explorer, and make sure to uncheck "Hide Known Extensions" in your view.
-
you can also try finding WAV files of the sounds that you are talking about,
then loading them into a granular synth, like Absynth3 (its not free tho).
-
its fun to watch if u make tunes too, and are on the behind side of the DJ
ya the coolest is watching guys with all equipment
heres some live PA chillout i recorded (warning there is no EQ, bass can get rough):
its very simple but relaxing
-
that could be either overkill on your wallet, or a LOT of fun!!! or both
at Shambala i saw an artist running laptop Live into a mixer, and a CDJ100 into the other channel, and he mixed between those.
-
ooo a Q i want one of those!!!!!!!!
thats great u did live PA! its very satisfying, hope u recorded it.
my buddy and me also do this, for chillout mainly, he uses a huge Korg workstation, and i run Live+Reason+MIDI Controllers, and we combine into a mixer. its alot of fun. however it can get repetitive and it takes a long time for me to load up the next tune. i wonder if anyone has advice on loading the next song in live? or do they use 1 huge song. hmmm
FL is a good tool for live PA too, most people dont know it, thanx for reminding
cant stand to compose with it tho!!

with reason, i often use the following strategy when i first started:
create many melodies and patterns with Redrum and Matrix.
keep building these until you get a nice flow going.
then silence them all.
now add them one by one with the sequencer.
take some away, add some back in.
change some of the patterns.
(use Matrix + Redrum).
thats the easiest way to make a song (not the best)
and after u do that u can "Convert Pattern Track to Notes"
to edit the melodies in the sequencer.
also,
try this Q+A approach:
Q) Create a musical Question
it is a musical melody or pattern that leaves you hanging
A) Create a musical Answer
it fulfills the question, satisfying the ear.
the Q+A do not have to be the same sounds, and u can use this approach on short melodies, as well as big ones, as well as on the song, or parts of the song, etc.!!! when i am stuck, i often go to this Q+A strategy.
good luk + have fun

LOL
i would not run an emulated program to make music.
slow and crashy enough on the native OS!!!
the one program that might be usable on emulation is Reason.
-
the two CDJ100 are a great choice (Even used)
i recommend a nice mixer tho, in the $200-300 range
dont get a realllly cheap one, or u will regret it.
make sure it has 3 EQ knobs, and good sound quality
i recommend Numark DXM06 ,and there are many good alternatives.
-
i like the 5 min mark breakdown
this tune is sounding more psychedelic thumbs up
goa-ish
do u use any hardware synth?
-
hi, i really liked your main synth line sound. good job
sounds like u need to learn more about EQ'ing and mixing tho. make sure to maximize and minimize your sounds with EQ to get their best audio quality. it will take u a long time to learn this, but experiment with adding EQ and compression to your channels!

Let me describe you my situation...
I was heavily into psy production, well something like 4 years ago. Because of my studies I had to stop everything...I just couldn't do both....Now as I'm coming to an end of studies I have more time...to cut things short....many things have changed since, and I lost track of what kind of software do I need to make some music...
So can you give me some recommendations concerning which software should I install......I need everything: sound editors, sequencers, synths...everything and more....and also which sound card do you recommend me to buy......notice it must be in lower price range...
Thank you in advance...
good cheap soundcard : emu404 / proteus
sound editors: wavelab 5 (nicest) / soundforge 7 (fastest)
sequencers: fruity loops, cubase, live, etc (find the best for u)
synth: reason, absynth3, vanguard, albino2, v-station, bass station, etc
the simplest way to go is: reason. it has everything u need, but not everything u want
good luk + have fun

its obviously a front for the real psecret psociety
-
nah, they just have a semblance of taste, that's all.. and been listening to this music long enough to be able to tell that some stuff is umm.. not all that. though for some reason they still like that crappy Theta Frequencies comp.
btw, ever hear v/a Boldly Audio from Sanaton records? if you ever need to check your ears..
u know, maybe i wouldnt have a problem with you idiots, if you didnt bash on the artists.
being a hater is just bad karma.

Yes, dance at home, but not on the dance floor...in the club....unless is some festival and on chill out area...
its true ive seen alot of people dancing to chillout, even pure ambience...
and in my time as a chillout DJ, in the rare case at a club (yes an actual club where they play house !!) ive played very downtempo chillout and have the hot chicks dancing. usually the guys dont dance, but once the girls are on their feet, they have no problem joining in.
-
thanks for all the replies party ppl!
my favorite discovery so far has been Tripswitch.
also some selected ambient works of Chicane!
i'm looking for very upbeat ambient/chill stuff, but i find most of it has beats and hihats in it. that doesnt stop me from liking it tho
what is odd, i've yet to find any "happy" ambient music (with no beats etc)

he did ask for "energetic dark psytrance" alot of 3D stuff falls in that category. a good album:
Killers Inc
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/dv3/dv31cd022.html
avoid if u have problem controlling your bladder, or if your mom fights for you. or both
of course if you want the horror stuff, like with girls screaming movie samples on top, u can find that too. try the Dirty South compilation:
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/aci/aci1cd012.html
all kinds of styles and artists out there

dont listen to this idiot.
Absolum
Azax Syndrome
Theoreme
etc
all excellent artists producing very energetic dark style under 3DVISIONS.
so if u think CPU is not evil...
try the song "Black Mamba"
your mom can listen too.
and while u are at it, recommend me something darker than that one
for the original poster,
also try: Twisted System and Phyx
