1. I know I'm a downloading scum.. couldn't help myself it's Shpongle for fuck sake

    267623

Then you have no right to EVER EVER f'ing discuss the ethics of music downloading on here EVER again, for fuck sake. The reason I noticed you in the first place was because of your staunch stance on on music downloading... now to hear you say "it's okay for exceptions".... what a load of crap.

Just keep your mouth shut in the future...

ps - we know you must have lost your twisted privileges

pps - i (and most others) dont give a flying fuck who paid for/download it, so stop posting about it, everyone =) let's discuss the quality of the album!

  2. I already ordered it. Paid for it. So it's MINE, and it's LEGAL for me to download it. Simple.

But I don't know if I'll listen to it. I don't like spoiling my fun... but still.. AAARGH!

    267568

No, Cinos, it is not "legal" for you to download it, because as you are downloading, you are also assisting others who did not/will not pay for it.

  3. oh, the hypocrisy of it all....

especially considering the fact that not only are you condoning the use of BT to get albums beforehand, but you are also aiding and abetting BY using BT, b\c your d/l time is also used to share it to other ppl who may/may not buy the album. im not saying i have any prob w\ this... just very amused considering your history of file share bashing. Seems that as soon as you are out of the loop for new pre-releases, you give in to the apple that we've all been eating from. the snake approves.

  4. in college, our resident advisor's last name was "Ginde" (he was indian), so one of my blockmates went on our friend's computer and renamed several hundred songs so that "ginde" was in every title. Brown-Eyed Girl became Brown-Eyed Ginde... others included "We Built this Ginde", "Ginde's always on my mind", "My Ginde", etc etc... the best part was that back in the day, we shared mp3s across our entire campus's network, and subsequently on napster etc (b4 it turned to shit)... so these butchered-title mp3s were floating around for years.

  5. what a lame topic here guys... this is basically everyone vs. one person, we all pretty much already agree that Telepatu is the "outsider" believing that goa does not evoke emotions.

seriously, this is just one of those "prove me i'm wrong, but i'm just going to disagree with you" topics.

give it a rest guys, we're really just preaching to the choir (and the kid outside the church who obviously has headphones on)

  6. I'm glad you catch the drift ;)

Close to 80GB was transfered in a month with bittorrent, all from my home computer. I can't imagine what this would have costed if I had put this mix on a web server :)

  7. Hey, has anyone listened to Moby's new album Hotel? It's a double CD release, and the 2nd disc is an ambient mix.

I've yet to check it out, but wondered if you all have had a go at it.

  8. yes sure I will :)

Check out the new compilation by Chill Tribe Records (Norway) that will be released spring 2005, including tracks by Entheogenic, Blue Planet Corporation, Jaïa, Altitudes, Ishq, Cell, Elysium, Elysium Vs. Space Cat, PhasePhour and Shulman.

    237632

holy shit, all of those in one compilation? i will be in heaven.

  9. There's a sample Shpongle used and we used, that's all.

When I said that we used it "better" I meant "more honestly", it's obvious when one reads my post, knowing this "Voices of Istanbul" vocal patch, taken from the beginning till the end by Simon. Obviously, Simon has a huge talent, it's a secret for nobody. But the genious of Shpongle is a little bit too much emphasized sometimes, and especially on the use of the samples in this track, which is shameful (I assume).

I don't compare our talent to Shpongle one, there's no point in that, but Cinos said that the use of those voices are far better used by Shpongle in "Tea Daze" than by us in the track "Lost Eden". I read this thread and, knowing all which were said about "Voices of Istanbul",  I think I have an answer right, even if his post wasn't for us. Otherwise, I would have never given my opinion about this subject.

But you are perfectly right Tryptamine, we use the same sample (us a sample in the sample, him the whole sample) but this is not the same music. I don't know why Cinos compared those two tracks, but, as he did, I thought it was obvious to bring some... precisions I would say. So for the sense of the comparison, ask to Cinos, not to me.

But well, now this subject is closed, it doesn't really matter, and it's not the topic. Sorry for the flood, mea culpa, but let's keep on giving our best ambient moments here.

    234301

asura, the best advice w\ regards to cinos is to ignore =) and what are your favorite ambient moments? as in, parts of tracks that you adore, that define ambience for you? btw, i'm glad your track lost eden was brought into the discussion, because i hadn't heard your music before.... rock on, it's excellent. and i'll have to agree that i like your more subtle use of the sample way more than the "insert here" aspect of tea daze.

    and remember, ignorant - ant + e = ignore.

so step on some ants and take some e, and it'll all be good =)

  10. oh, and Cogumelo, i loved that movie (man on fire)... vigilante movies kick ass, and denzel washington in such a gritty movie/plot was fantastic. was one of the few times with him that i didn't feel he was typecast into some default role. anyone for an exploding ass-bomb?

if only we could send Denzel after those Chinese Fur Farm ppl... I'd shell out $100 to see that on pay-per-view. fuckers...ugh. (if you have no idea what im talking about, search around the off-topic)

  11. You are listening to a mix of Alien Project, Dado, S.U.N. Project and GMS (mostly GMS and AP). Bloody great scene and, for once, a believable 'rave' in a film.   Check out www.imdb.com for man on fire and check the soundtrack list for more info.

Besides the Matrix-films, I don't think any other major Hollywood flick features psytrance. I have plenty of ideas, tho...

    233757

it's not psy trance, but speaking of rave scenes... i love the vanilla sky scene with underworld - rez in it. great movie.

    -ensign

(the reason i like the scene is b\c of his downward spiral in it...)

oh... and i like the aspirin/E switch scene in "Go"... a quality movie too, even if the drug scene w\ the dude is a bit exaggerated

  12. Yes - but what is the question?

Or more to the point .... why are the question and answer mutually exclusive in this case ? To know one means you can never know the other ....... although apparently frogs come into play somewhere along the line ......

    <loves douglas adams>

Oh  @ Ivan - Is Poi the answer you are looking for ?

I like the whole tracks I listed... pure bliss they are.

    233516

yeah, but the title of the topic is moments. you don't consider a track a "moment" do you? (regardless of what the 1st post actually said)

and who are you...yoda? "pure bliss they are"

  14. 01. Shulman - Consciousness Revoked @ 4:45

The piano work here is the most relaxing thing I've ever heard. If you turn off all of the lights in the room, put your stereo real loud and let yourself get caught in the music, you'll see what I mean.

    02. Shulman - Random Lifelines @ 5:30

I just can't get enough of this album. This track erally gets to me, especially after 5:30. There's this weird melodic work envolving various kinds of instruments and synths, all completely different from each other, but that create a melodic work too good to be true.

    03. Violet Vision - Plastic Wrap @ 2:14

Violet Vision aren't really chill-out. It's a blend of ambient with breakbeat that has a really wide range of influences. This track has gotta be the most ambient track of their second album. It really gets to me, especially the violins and the voice. One of the very few tracks that could make me cry on a stressful day.

    04. Hallucinogen - Solstice (Warwick Bassmonkey Mix) @ 1:10

You just gotta love it. The melody that start at approximately 1 minute just takes you away. Minimalistic, but effective nonetheless.

    05. Asura - Lost Eden @ 1:26

No comments are necessary here. Those who've listened to this track know what I'm talking about.

    06. Radiohead - Everything in its Right Place @ 0:01

Radiohead has these things. This track leaves me speechless, from the first to the last second.

    07. Serart - Narina (Bill Laswell RMX) @ 0:01

I doubt anyone around here even knows this track, so I'll save comments. If you have the chance to get your hands on this, please do. It's one of the most outstanding trip-hop/ambient/breakbeat tracks I've heard in a long time.

    08. Infected Mushroom - Deeply Disturbed (Violet Vision RMX) @ 3:22

This break at 3:22 just gets to me. Deffinitely the best conversion I've seen from psy into chill-out (breakbeat, to be precise). Really, really great stuff.

    09. Ott - Smoked Glass and Chrome @ 1:20

It's often to find that some of the voice samples on Ott's tracks are used by a lot of other artists (how many freakin' times have we heard that guy from Ott's Splitting an Atom?). None ever does a job half as good as the man Ott. This one's one of those tracks. It's just pure musical beauty.

    10. Portishead - Roads @ 0:12

    Beautiful stuff, no comments necessary.

    There... Wheew!

    233502

nice... thanks delusional. i'm glad someone besides me actually told WHERE in the song the moment was located. you would think that a topic entitled "ambient moments" would be about MOMENTS and not entire songs/albums. there are countless topics/posts about favorite ambient artists/songs, but the actual place in the song that you think is awesome... now that is worth hearing (and fresh)

  15. How do you expect me to know if a post is useless if I haven't read it?

I have only asked people to think twice before posting, that's all, no fascism, just a practical tip that could save us all some time.

Yes, that's an option, another option is to start a topic about useless posts and have a constructive discussion and raise the level of the posts further.

    233501

here's the thing though. there will be no "constructive" outcome from a topic regarding "useless posts". the people that actually post something worth reading will continue to post shit worth reading (with occasional "useless" posts by your definition), while the people that post shit like "yeah, sweet!" or whatever useless interjection, they will continue to do so, like it or not. the people that GET INVOLVED in this discussion are the ones already making the valuable postings... so it's kind of pointless anyway. i was really just joking about the fascism thing... and i really do agree that I wish that ppl would stop posting crap. anyway, by "ignore" the crappy posts, i mean ignore the crappy posters. kind of like a 3 strikes and you're out policy =) and not like while you are scrolling down over posts, you can't simply just see that some idiot layed down a useless one-liner.

i just don't think you'll be able to get those ppl to change their annoying ways, agreement or not.

no way, rain! psyshop is DEAD-ON about every release's description.... i mean c'mon, there are at least 300 best albums of the month!!!

heheh j/k. you are so right. when i first started going there, i was like hmm... this one says "best"... funny b\c last one i read was also the "best".

  18. there's no rules here so I suggest you do as you please and have fun.  who cares if a post is useless anyway ;)

    233454

yeah, i agree with you totally, EP. if you think the topic or post is useless... don't fucking read it. it's kind of like the internet in general, there's a lot of shit out there to ignore. Trolsk, you shouldn't go telling people what to/not to post. we don't need any israfascism around here.

i do have some of the same sentiments about certain posters, i'd rather they not respond b\c of the lack of value of their input... but i keep it to myself (or flame them! always an option).

  19. yeah, but dancing with kadafi is an amazing piece of work. a lot of effort went into making that track. plus i dont think you will be dissapointed with that pink floyd track. let me know what you think after you've heard it... ;)

    233362

yeah, i'm there with you on the kadafi being f'ing incredible.

as far as a single moments of greatness... here are some of my favs:

(these aren't necessarily my fav ambient songs, just moments)

The Orb - Montagne d'Or - from 4:20 til the end

Shulman - Small Grey Creatures - from 8:08 to 9:00 (the guitar build-up)... amazing

Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place - from 2:39 to 6:30.. very dark and eerie, excellent climax

Boards of Canada - Aquarius - from 3:00 on 4:30. don't know why, but i love the #'s thing in this song =)

Morphem - Hypnotone - the intro until the melody comes in. don't know what to classify this part as, but i like it.. also the exit (where the same tune comes back in) This music makes me think of "The Shining"... old/nostalgic/weird

    okay... done for now.

    cheers

    god bless you europeans!
